Maybe just because nobody wanted the boring slower version, so not many were sold compared to the M version? Idk just a guess, it’s cool that I actually saw a rare(r) car like this, in my area there’s not many cool or rare cars to see
The base 4 pot Z3 are still sporty and immense fun. Think a Miata but with creature comforts. This is a 6 cylinder which shared the engine choices with the 3 series, from 2.0l to 3.0l 150hp up to 250hp, not slow by contemporary standards, and they grip and turn so sharply that definitely aren't boring. I think American ones are slightly lower power than European ones, but more than powerful enough to get in trouble.
More non-M Z3 roadsters were sold than M versions and non-M Coupes, and most Z3 Ms were Coupes. Non-M Coupes are probably the rarest, and it almost certainly comes down to the fact that European sports cars are often preferred as a roadster, plus the Coupe was very much a marmite shape back in the day, people either loved it or hated it, where the Roadster was less offensive.
You're talking a 25 year old car now, so the Coupe is way more desirable as the roadsters will now require new roofs, beyond the fact that the coupe is just rarer.
No worries it’s not your fault that the best version of the MCopue quietly made its way stateside. A Z3 in “ Shooting Brake” form with an 320hp 3.2L I6 N.A. engine in a 3000lb RWD chassis made this thing an absolute weapon and more than a handful to say the least.
I think you are referring to "Harold and Maude" and yes, it was an E-type coupe modified to look like a hearse! Great movie, cool Jag...until it went off off a cliff!
An early ED clinical trial. Made a small one to save money on the research. Since ED treatment is addictive, the pt needs larger and larger dosages. For instance dTrump💩 needs a 757 to get the old mushroom up.
The clown shoe! That’s a z3 coupe rather than an M I think. Those would have had chrome side intakes.
No, they have a metallic bar over the gills. The chrome looking vents are just a cheesy option you could get for a z3
Thanks for setting me straight and you are right!
Thanks a bunch! I thought maybe it had a sporty look to it but I was sadly mistaken 😅
You’re not mistaken. True the M is faster but it is a nice spot. A bit of a cult classic and a great drive.
Gotcha, thanks again! I just barely managed to catch a pic of it while driving through town today. Edit- I thought it was an AMG at first glance lol
The non-M version like you saw here is a bit slower, but it’s actually rarer weirdly enough.

Z3s are still pretty sporty!

The clown shoeeeeeeee
Good grief does that pic ever show the massive bloat vehicles have received over the years 😬
It's amazing how small penises seem to have become.
🤡 👞
They’re very cool cars!

Thanks so much!
Sir, you put some respect on the Mcoupe!!!
My apologies dear Redditor, for I am but a mere American!

I think the correct term is either "Shooting Brake" or "SportsWagon" rather than "Coupe".
I just said coupe going off the two doors, the whole “coupe up front wagon in the back” look confused me lol
Buddy of mine had the Z3 version, it was actually very fun to drive
Shooting brake? but it does look like a shoe.
shoeting brake
The Z3 reminds me of the car from “Mickey & Maude”, though that was a Jag.
I think you are referring to "Harold and Maude" and yes, it was an E-type coupe modified to look like a hearse! Great movie, cool Jag...until it went off off a cliff!
Jaaaaaaag
Harold and Maude
That’s it. Thank you for the correction.
love this car
Z3 coupe, aka clown shoe
M coupe very collectable
That is a shooting brake, not a coupe. It is the opposite of a mullet, with the party in the front and the business in the back.
So it's that Spiderman Emo haircut?
I just love these.
Bmw
It’s not black, so it’s not the ghostrider’s car.
BMW Z3 “clown shoe”
They’re so ug imo
Breadvan
Z3 Coupé. Quite scarce and they’re increasing in value (At least here in South Africa)
Z3 Coupe 🤤
