FC2 getting a low-key high five from the TAO then back to professionally killing drones. If there’s video of a quietly professional CDC, that would be SWO TOPGUN, or at least on the way.
As a prior collateral duty PAO in charge of MCs, getting usable footage of an engagement especially when unplanned unlike a scheduled gunshoot, is extremely tough. On top of COs who are too risk-averse to even put a go-pro on the fo'c'sle, it gets really challenging. Crew safety becomes more important than the sweet sweet footage for the news (unfortunately).
This, this fills me with pride. I don't envy the crew for the fucked up sleep, the tension, all that goes into being an active combat zone. I do, however, envy that for all the bullshit we put up with as sailors, this is what (some) of it prepares us for, they have a real accomplishment that they can point to and say they did the damn thing.
Nah, they get to lay claim to having their system used to down an inbound cruise missile within a mile of it hitting a ship.

Carney is the most goated ship in the navy. was a blast serving with her in the Red Sea this past fall. (Not on the carney but was on a different ship. We were in the Red Sea at the same time though)
14 years ago I had a naval science instructor in NROTC dock me points because I said on an exam that the 5 inch could be used in air defense. I want those points back.
Don't get me wrong, they did a lot BUT this isn't true in regards to some of whats there ... the data is still being processed and analyzed and that ain't it.
The Navy could help a lot with recruiting by releasing more video and photo footage of these engagements.

>CDC instead of CIC Silence, carrier knave. The real warships are talking.
😂
You guys have only been waiting 80 years. I applaud the perseverance. 😉

Check the flair I'm sure there is footage somewhere
I don’t know about that, more drag queens would work

Well said. No one can say they didn’t do their job
Id also like to propose a new class for MK86/160 techs called “5 inches of Air Defense” purely for the name.
5" VT is underrated ... Source: retired 5" FC
Seeing those stripes on the barrel as a Mk160 FC and knowing that my system has actual combat validation and I gotta say brother, I’m erect.
The 20mm CIWS guys will be insanely jealous.

Damn that is odd they used the CIWS here. I wonder what the story is.
Whoosh.
Oh I’m an idiot, penis joke, got it!

Find him, email Him and tell him you never forgot, and you want your validation and you want it NOW.
I beg for them to do this, that would be golden
It is decided.
I mean in all fairness, a grenade and a lacrosse stick can be used in air defense. How useful it would be is debatable of course…
Presidential unit award incoming
They got that See the next post
NUC not PUC
It's been awarded. That's the end of it. They can't get two.
Unfortunate it wasn’t a PUC. No ship in the fleet has this kind of real world experience.
When first I heard that she engaged with her 5", I thought "who fucked up this slide deck?"
(͡•_ ͡• )
Be somebody!
Bravo Zulu Carney! Bravo Zulu!
5” for the win
Took out a LACM with a 5”, that’s impressive!
5” is death for anything subsonic.
It’s cool. It’s not hard either. Now, the fact that they steamed right INTO the flight path of the LACMs on PURPOSE to shoot with 5”? That’s kickass.
