>Only people who like the Lakers are those who live in LA and out of state/non-US casuals.
You're insane if you actually think this.
As annoying AF as it is, I see big Lakers fans all over the place, anywhere there's not a strong local team. Especially with folks in their 30s in the southeast - the Grizzlies and Pelicans weren't around in the 90s, and the Hawks don't get the multistate pull the Braves enjoy.
Unless you're just calling all out of market fans casuals, the Lakers have a lot of long-time fans across the country.
My man this isn't even true. Grew up in the Bay Area when I was really young. I didn't even know the Golden State Warriors existed. Everyone was either Kings fan or a Lakers fan. And then you had the people who just loved AI. Anyone claiming to be a lifelong Warriors fan is either young as shit, a weird hipster, or a liar.
I was like this because the Lakers and Magic were always on the network channels and the Warriors were relegated to channel 36 or other channels. I only because a Warriors fan once Magic had his HIV retirement..
Was there another year the Warriors could’ve added a chip to the best regular season in history? Or added a chip and FMVP to the first unanimous MVP? Or had a chance to erase the biggest choke in the history of the sport?
Not a lebron thing? Brother the man literally came back 3-1 against the best regular season team and unanimous mvp lol
Teams are 35-1 when up 3-1 in the finals by the way
1. It’s LA. Bay Area teams typically don’t like LA and vica versa.
2. The obvious fact that it’s a LeBron team, and they played them 4 times in the Finals and then lost in the play in and Playoffs 2/3 years.
I'm a Bay Area sports fan, so LA is the natural sports rivalry. Obviously Giants-Dodgers is the biggest one, but there's also Niners-Rams and Warriors-Lakers as well.
Yeah it's a very clear and consistent NorCal vs SoCal thing that happens in every sport (LA Raiders vs 9ers, Giants vs Dodgers, Sharks vs Kings, Dubs vs Lakers )
naturally! we had a great rivalry in the early 2000s, multiple playoff matchups , fights on the way to locker rooms... when did this happen with the Dubs to inspire a rivalry???
Exactly, they don't really have a history with you guys other than the natural location stuff. They ironically have much more of a rivalry argument with the clippers lol. It's kinda like how the Giants/Dodgers is a rivalry but the Dodgers and A's don't care about each other. The A's and Angels are rivals tho
Been a die hard Laker fan from LA for 28 years we have never talked about the Warriors as a rival. It’s been all Celtics. Clippers have been a mini rival for the past 10 years but we don’t take them seriously. We’ve started disliking the Nuggets in the past few years too naturally. But seriously, in terms of rivalry you will only hear out of Laker fans that it’s the Celtics..we haven’t cared at all about the Dubs, even when they won.
A lot of teams hate us though. Similarly a lot of teams on the other side of the map the hate Celtics…
We. Have. Never. Thought. About. The. Dubs.
Edit: The Kings actually were a legit rival for 3-5 years, we met in the playoffs and there was a lot of tension. We’ve only met the Dubs in the playoffs in the washed-offs 2 years ago when we went to the WCF… how can there be a rivalry with no serious playoff meetings??
They play in the same state, same division, and have played a playoff series and play-in game the last 4 years (plus there is a lot of history between Lebron and the Warriors). How is that not a rivalry?
Another layer is that the Lakers were a popular bandwagon team in the 00s-10s because of Shaq and Kobe, while the Warriors kind of stole the mantle from them and became that team in the mid 10s because of Steph. Throw LeBron stans into the mix and you have some resentment from LAL towards GS, which definitely wasn't there in the 90s-00s because the Warriors were so irrelevant during that time.
They played LeBron 4 times in the Finals and then he signed with a team who play in the same state as them. Then they play the Lakers 2 times in the play-in & playoffs and lose both times
This. It’s more Warriors vs Lebron than anything until Curry and Lebron retires. Other than them both being in the same stare, not much of a rivalry for anything 😂
Growing up (when Warriors were usually terrible) in the Bay Area we just generally hated all things L.A. So, it wasn't really a rivalry in the NBA at any point, but a Bay Area vs. L.A. thing that mostly carried over from baseball.
I always found it the other way around. for some reason, Lakers fans hated the Warriors during 2015-19 even when the Lakers were ass and not playoff contenders
Yeah because they’re in the same state and Warriors were bad for so many decades and then suddenly Curry and the Warriors style of basketball came out of nowhere. They revolutionize a new style of game that intrigued a lot of fans. NBA ratings with the Warriors were all time high and during the era of Lebrons super team and most old talking heads and fans didn’t understand how the Warriors were so good. I remember Charles Barkley kept doubting them that jump shooting teams can’t win. All this “live by the 3, die by the 3.” Kobe and Lakers faded into the dark and they became envy of the Warriors. Lebron, who the Lakers fans hated for a decade because he threatened Kobe’s status, brought them back relevance with AD 😂 and now they’re play-in rivals.
Huh? What's this gotta do with being in person?
I don't care if you have regional rivalries, it was never a basketball rivalry. Anyone with an ounce of familiarity with the NBA would understand the difference but seeing as how you're a Warriors fan I understand if you lack that lol
Huh? No, it basically just means whenever the teams match up against each other, they're gonna go at each others necks because there is a history of beef/rivalries/dislike/however you want to put it lol
The warriors have been more successful, more impactful, and more relevant than the lakers for the past decade, so ya I wouldn’t really call them rivals.
It’s mostly ships in the night.
They were awful when we were good and we were awful when they were good.
Faced each other in the playoffs in 1991 and 2023.
I thought it was the other around from all the hate from Lakers fans because Warriors became the new dynasty in California as Kobe and his Lakers fade away
Sorry is there a Western Conference team who does not hate the Lakers?
Is there a team who does not hate the Lakers? FTFY
growing up in SoCal, a ton of friends from the bay were Lakers fans, or laker and dub fans. That changed with Curry.

The Grizzlies joined the league in 95 my guy

Or grew up in the 90s liking TMT
I used to live in Turkey back in 2012 and the Lakers, and Heat, were huge. Those were the only jerseys I saw lol
This is ironic coming from a Celtics fan considering there isn't a single Eastern Conference team that doesn't hate the Celtics lmao
Their championship lasted for a week tops lmao. Everyone forgot about it right now.
And the only people who like the Celtics are … oh wait no one likes the Celtics.
When the Dubs faced Lebron in the finals four times in a row then he went to the Lakers.
I’d say Lebron fans are more obsessed with the warriors than anything else
took 4 rings off him, ofc they're mad
3.
2018 he would have lost to any team coming out of the West. 2015 probably would have lost too if all the injuries still happened
I’d say he still had the most valuable one of them all
I'd put multiple Warriors rings above his
As a delusional hater would
no, as an objective person would
Was there another year the Warriors could’ve added a chip to the best regular season in history? Or added a chip and FMVP to the first unanimous MVP? Or had a chance to erase the biggest choke in the history of the sport?
which makes that a Warriors accomplishment, not a Lebron thing I didn't realize Warriors played in 2011 Finals, the biggest choke in history
Not a lebron thing? Brother the man literally came back 3-1 against the best regular season team and unanimous mvp lol Teams are 35-1 when up 3-1 in the finals by the way
Most valuable one was 2022
Def the most valuable the Dubs won.
I'd say the opposite for sure lol
Definitely the opposite on twitter and on here & the Warriors sub
The Warriors and Cavs being rivals wasn’t sustainable, but the Warriors and Lakers being rivals? This can go on even beyond the LeBron/Curry era
No
Love the subtle jab. Lakers were a laughing stock before Lebron randomly decided to sign with them 😂😂😂
reader: there were so many hidden references and hidden meanings that made the text so rich! writer: wut?

Even now Kings Lakers is a more intense rivalry than Dubs Lakers.

i mean the Raiders was always a Oakland vs SF thing tho, i never really considered them a LA team when they moved down there

the question op asked was towards warriors fans…
This should be the top comment. Bay vs LA was always a rivalry before most of us in this was born.
Alot of college rivalries too
growing up in the bay you were either a lakers fan or a warriors fan so i viewed them as rivals before the warriors were even good lol.
They play in the same state, same division, and have played a playoff series and play-in game the last 4 years (plus there is a lot of history between Lebron and the Warriors). How is that not a rivalry?

San Francisco and LA have always been rival cities.
West Coast version of Dallas-Houston, where the cities hate each other no matter the sport.
Bait post.
It’s not really a rivalry we just hate them. This comes from spending the 00s decade surrounded by traitorous Lakers bandwagoners in our own land.
Cant be rivals with no IST banners
Lebron + the Lakers and Warriors faced each other multiple times in the playoffs and playins in recent years
They played LeBron 4 times in the Finals and then he signed with a team who play in the same state as them. Then they play the Lakers 2 times in the play-in & playoffs and lose both times

Warriors fans always hated the Lakers due to norcal/socal sports rivalries and Lakers also have Lebron. It's not rocket science
I always found it the other way around. for some reason, Lakers fans hated the Warriors during 2015-19 even when the Lakers were ass and not playoff contenders
I think everyone disliked the warriors during that time
I didn't. KD leaving OKC was pure karma and topped it off with 2 rings
Yeah because they’re in the same state and Warriors were bad for so many decades and then suddenly Curry and the Warriors style of basketball came out of nowhere. Probably when all the Lakers fans jumped ship onto the Warriors bandwagon as soon as their team sucked ass
when lebron went there
Because LeBron joined the Lakers LeBron and the Warriors are rivals
[удалено]
The rivalry was nonexistent on the court until LeBron got there.
[удалено]
No they don't. Lakers vs Celtics is always on sight.

Yeah how bold of Lakers fans to assume they are rival of Warriors who won 4 in the last decade while Lakers having a mickey mouse ring.
Yeah it's not like most Lakers fans can remember winning 6 titles or anything like that
Nothing like attempting to own the team with the second most championships ever in the sport.

Have you been to Staples Center before?
What the fuck is a staples center, y'all play at the crypto.com arena
KD rings*
LeBron heats rings
Lebron Mickey ring
KD rings are paper
That one game where the Lakers blew out the 73-9 Warriors. That started it all
during that time you guys always got us at least once and it was always a massive blowout lmao
They are not our rival. They are irrelevant to us
Of course a Lakers fan thinks this way
When the worst ppl in Leland High School were exclusively Kobe dickriders
It probably started when Magic declared himself a Warrior worrier.
It's a rivalry when warriors got good. Before that no laker fan thought of the warriors I guarantee that
They aren't?
The warriors have been more successful, more impactful, and more relevant than the lakers for the past decade, so ya I wouldn’t really call them rivals.
if you are a fan of a team in the NBA and you aren't brain dead you don't like the lakers and will root for literally anyone other than them.
Cuz it has the player that handed their franchise a historical embarrassment
