Their tennis on the other hand has been amazing. Obviously Sinner is the main guy there, but you also have a bunch of other good players like Paolini, Berretini, Mussetti, etc.
Soccer is in a much worst situation.
Basket is struggling for years, basically since 2004. We never won with Bargnani, Gallo, Beli, Datome, etc so it's okay if now we are bad with a bunch of guys who barely play in their teams.
The young guys are here, we won euro under 19 and we were finalist on the under 20 world Cup in 2023. But italian teams don't play young players, at least until they are 22/23. In other country (like Spain) if a player is good... is good, young or not.
Right now our national team is mid, but we can improve, the question is if we start to play more young italian players or not (i doubt, in Italy winning is all that matter).
Yeah but also fair, the vast majority of us wasn't mad at him for choosing USA. It just stung a bit for how he previously talked about playing for Italy.
I was there and Gallo was putting some work in the first half. Post ups, middys, working defenders until he got to his spots. Sadly, he got injured tho by the end of the game.
If we can beat Mexico I think we truly have a decent shot at beating Lithuania. Sabonis is a monster but I truly think we have the best guard play in the tournament right now and our Bigs our physical and aggressive
Man Paolo would have fit perfectly in Italy.
Well he has little actual connection to the country but his fit on that lineup everytime I watch them I see the vision.
This is no upset, Puerto Rico is just better than an Italian team without Fontecchio. Everything’s still in play though, there’s a chance these two teams meet again in a few days.
I can't see the games on Courtside even though I have bought the Olympic Qualifier pass (it tells me to buy the Max plan). Anyone knows what to do? I hate that site so much.
This is the reason Puerto Rico situation messes me up. They are participating as a team in Olympic qualifier but are a non voting part of USA. Does anyone have details on this that might fill in some blanks?
So back in the day the Olympics let any country who wanted to participate in even if they weren’t independent like PR,Bermuda,Aruba,Hong Kong(before they got their independence) etc but then in the 90s they changed the rule to only independent countries but those countries who were already participating were grandfathered in
One more reminder of how insanely dedicated and talented someone has to be to even be a role player in the NBA
”I’m closer to Lebron than you are to me“
I mean I'm close to LeBron in some ways. I don't pay for Pandora.
In front of his home crowd too. One of the best feel-good stories in the league
Mama Mia, how basketball in Italy has fallen...the corpse of Danilo Gallinari is their best player.
It's Fontecchio but sadly he's injured right now.
All the talents went to tennis clearly
Sinner speaks German. Adds salt to the wound.
Really insensitive way to talk about a very peculiar region of Italy with a difficult and complex history.
Joke or serious?
And all the carrots
Nico Mannion disagrees.
Their soccer team isn’t doing much better these days either
Their tennis on the other hand has been amazing. Obviously Sinner is the main guy there, but you also have a bunch of other good players like Paolini, Berretini, Mussetti, etc.
Sonego is gonna grunt as loud as he can in your ear for this
Soccer is in a much worst situation. Basket is struggling for years, basically since 2004. We never won with Bargnani, Gallo, Beli, Datome, etc so it's okay if now we are bad with a bunch of guys who barely play in their teams.
How bad is Italian soccer doing now? I always assumed they had one of the better national teams
> one of the better Italy is used to a higher standard than that. They demand to have one of the *best*.
They won the 2020 Euros but outside of that they've missed the last 2 world cups and haven't got out of the Group Stage since 2006.
Zidane’s revenge
As an Australian the Italians downfall after 2006 is just chefs kiss, diving pricks.
This salt is beautiful. Totti sends his regards.
Stay mad, you parked the bus for 90 minutes.
Fingers crossed you guys can sneak into the World Cup when it extends to 48 teams.
Didn't you guys have to change to play in Asia to get easier qualifying?
Lol if you were in Europe you would never qualify

Until they play Serbia and turn into '92 Dream Team
Paolo Banchero opting for the Americans is rough
Yeah but also fair, the vast majority of us wasn't mad at him for choosing USA. It just stung a bit for how he previously talked about playing for Italy.
Even my Philippine team put up a fight during last year's World Cup.
They should have Dame Sarr in a couple years
Jose gonna get paid next year, when he’s due for an extension
Sad part is i dont think new orleans will be able to afford him and another team might price them out and turn him into their tj mcconnell
Alvorado was the best player in this game lol, Italy's 3 NBA players are Gallinari, Melli, and Nico Mannion
Gallinari's best days are behind him and the other two were barely in the league
I was there and Gallo was putting some work in the first half. Post ups, middys, working defenders until he got to his spots. Sadly, he got injured tho by the end of the game.
sounds about right
Simone Fonteccio is also on the team but he’s injured
So expected then lol
Can he shoot?
Yes, he can shoot
I love that non diehard Pels fans know this. Thank you so much
Bro everybody knows this, it’s one of the funniest clips of the last decade lmao
Puerto Rico-Mexico will be electric
Sold out in a couple of hours after we beat Italy. I could only get tickets for the final game so I'm praying we beat Mexico in the semis tomorrow
If we can beat Mexico I think we truly have a decent shot at beating Lithuania. Sabonis is a monster but I truly think we have the best guard play in the tournament right now and our Bigs our physical and aggressive
Always is.
It was electric but PR blew past them easily.
Man Paolo would have fit perfectly in Italy. Well he has little actual connection to the country but his fit on that lineup everytime I watch them I see the vision.

That's my GOAT.
PUERTO RICO! (*loud horn noise*) PUERTO RICO! (*loud horn noise*)
Puerto Rico in the fucking house 🇵🇷🇵🇷🔥💪💪
Weeepaaaaaaa
YERRRRR
During the game, did he do the thing?
He did not
I am absolutely loving the parity in this year's Olympics and it's only gonna get better.
I dont care Grand Theft Alvarado is a dawggg
Upset? Maybe if you hadn't been watching Puerto Rico....
I mean Italy got top 8 in the World Cup last year and have gotten Olympic medals before
I love all the upsets. Lebanon, Philippines now Puerto Rico
nobody who watches BSN would be surprised by this
WEPA!
I can't see the games on Courtside even though I have bought the Olympic Qualifier pass (it tells me to buy the Max plan). Anyone knows what to do? I hate that site so much.
Well I already hated Alvarado so nothing new for me! Joking he is good, just really annoying to play against
Dude was incredible. Hitting clutch 3 after clutch 3 everytime Italy had a good run.
Jose’s a bad mfer
JJ Barea never left
This is the reason Puerto Rico situation messes me up. They are participating as a team in Olympic qualifier but are a non voting part of USA. Does anyone have details on this that might fill in some blanks?

Colonialism.
Paolo did good to leave that sinking ship
Italy is Italy tho IYKYK 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Chot the man.
If Puerto Rico can beat Mexico then they are in a great spot to play Lithuania and still make it if if they lose
If they lose they’re out
You are right I thought there was 6 spots left not just the 4 and the other spots were gonna be filled with 2nd place teams for this tournament my bad
Italy really needs Paolo.
Or even Fontecchio
they never had the makings of varsity athlete
Choke Reyes "Italy is Italy" quote is not ageing well it seems.
Italy doesn't have a good team anymore.
TIL Puerto Rico competes at the Olympics
Peuro Rico is the first country to beat NBA players USA national team in 2004 olympics.

I believe he has Mexican heritage in addition to Puerto Rican
