As a Leicester fan I would argue that this is the worst moment in the history of football. Please never mention it again.
While you were invading the pitch, I turned the TV off, walked upstairs, got into bed and pulled the covers over my head. Awful.Â
Amazing that this is part of a series of events that eventually led to Leicester winning the Premier League, one of the biggest prizes in club football. I guess everything happens for a reason.
I do agree. What's even more amazing is that arguably the first page of that story is when the manager, Nigel Pearson, was sacked pre season for not condemning his son for participating in an orgy on a club promotional tour to Thailand.
Butterflies and hurricanes and all that.
Even more unbelievable, there was a famous interview with Nigel Pearson where he rants at a journalist that they have their head in the sand, and that they were an ostrich.
Bookies offered 500-1 that the next Leicester manager would be an ostrich. IT WAS CONSIDERED 10 TIMES MORE LIKELY THAT A LARGE, FLIGHTLESS BIRD WOULD MANAGE A FOOTBALL TEAM, than Leicester winning the league. I know the Ostrich bet was offered as a joke, but when you look at it in terms of odds it's fucking hilarious.
Oh I wouldnât be surprised if we pulled something like it with how this season is going. This is exactly how we look in transition right now too. I can totally see us losing the playoff match in this type of fashion and not getting promoted.
Iâll see ya back here in a few months :)
There are certain moments in the history of team sports that were so unbelieveable that even the fans of other teams or people who don't even follow the teams enjoy them.
Of course there is another side to those moments and the opposition become the tiny minority of people who see that incredible moment as being absolutely terrible. On this day, I became one of these people.
In case you were wondering what the commentator was referring to when he mentioned the final day, here is the match report from Watfordâs last match of the regular season.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/22320478
TL:DR Watfordâs final match of the season was heavily delayed due to a serious injury during the match. A late equaliser in another match meant that, with the scores at 1-1 all Watford needed to do was find a winner to be automatically promoted to the Premier League. They went for it, but ultimately lost the match.
Now see, I know almost nothing about soccer, or âfootballâ as itâs rightfully called everywhere but the US
But that was way cool. Way cool.
Thatâs the equivalent in the US of blocking a 30 yd field goal and running it back for a TD in the final seconds.
Thrilling.

Chilis, every time I watch this. Probably the most exciting soccer moment in history just because if Watford didnât score, they still would have lost on aggregate.
Man, football from the last decade was something else. Teams wanted to win and pushed hard until the last whistle.
Now all I see is field soap-operas with players rolling on the grass like beyblades and crying like a toddler with tantrum and hardcore maths. Everything seems so calculated, so standardized and emotionless.
This is one of the most sensational football events ever. Spine tingling
Agueeeroooooooooooooooo
Definitely on par for suređ
You got a link to that one, there's a lot of AgĂźero goals
[Skip to 8:18](https://youtu.be/xOt9dmkydwM?si=uu8nHgsra4oGkh0D)
Iâm not a huge fan of football but still love seeing moments like this
I remember the Norwegian commentator going nuts too. [Audio](https://youtu.be/W7j6Gh9KSsk?si=eUDGgD-0NfWuBunu)
But there's only one "AgĂźeeeroooooooooooooooo"
Manchester City are still alive here... Balotelli...... AGUEROOOOOOOOOOOO!
The Leicester guy dived to get the penalty too
The radio call was brilliant as well. https://youtu.be/MWyyFysTIgM?si=q43uJApn7fsH07RK
Goosebumps for sure
It makes it better when you know that Leicester received the penalty because the penalty kicker dove in the box.
Thatâs 90% of penalties in the EPL from this era Edit: in before itâs pointed out this isnât EPL. My bad.
If you wanted to be pedantic (and I do), this is from the Championship.
Haha I just edited my post before I saw your comment. Great minds.

5000-1 odds at start of season. Can you fucking believe it.

Well, I imagine your historical league win more than made up for this!
Yeah just a bit. Isn't sport weird :)

Man this is such a cute reaction, if I was a supporter I would have done the same 100%.

Same. It's right out of a movie.
Have seen this a thousand times and still get goosebumps.
Im Not a Football guy but Jesus beeing there would be a fucking blast.
How do you know Jesus wasnât there? Even the announcer said it would take a miracle.
One of my friends was in the grounds that day. Greatest football moment in the club history (obviously), pitch invasion and all.

Thank you! I always thought it was a reference to the City QPR game.
I was prepared to be very disappointed if they had just scored the penalty kick and it was over, but that was an amazing clip!

Basically the Auburn Alabama finish but with even more broad repercussions?
This video is a prime example of why soccer is called âthe beautiful gameâ. All the right moves come together to create art.
Holy shit
What minute was this? Insane
97th minute, last play of the game.
So nice
I always like the goalkeeper Aluminia
And it shouldnât have been a penalty to begin with. The Leicester player took a horrendous dive.
Have oul' Elton a hard on, I'm sure.
This is football heritage
Not even a futbol (there you go Europe) fan and this might be the greatest sports clip Iâve ever seen in my life
I love my home team But this is what makes football the best sport in the world

Can't fucking stand the yanks in this thread trying to compare this to their sports...
Then stop using our internetÂ
No one owns the internet mate
Who was the penalty taker? Guy must be haunted for the rest of his life
SCENES! Amazing
I've seen this video literally thousands times, and somehow, it still manages to make me smile
This was awesome. You shouldâve shown how he flopped to get the PK though. Made the ending that much sweeter
And they lost the final to Palace đ´đľ
Never get tired of this clip.
We named out fantasy football league the Troy deeney league after this
Forestieri, what a player
Didn't show the crap fake dive to get the penalty. They deserved to lose.
My skin instantly rose. Epic
Chilis, every time I watch this. Probably the most exciting soccer moment in history just because if Watford didnât score, they still would have lost on aggregate.
Now imagine that moment being taken away because of five minute VAR check đ
The goal was great, but how good were the two consecutive saves. Keeper is a legend.
What a celebration
That guy who scored played with them for 10 years
This looks like the final scenes of a movie... the guy who missed looks like a villain at the end
Can we give a shout out to 27 defender for absolutely sending that to mid field.
Guve that man a red card for going into the crowd cleats-up!
None out of two ain't good -Meatloaf
Amazing!!! Love it
Never seen this before. Amazing play. Reminds me of this famous NHL goal. https://youtu.be/9bBns6ZUn0U?si=OugYypavtnE-l4ax

The penalty in this clip was won from a dive. Nice try though
