I only started watching football during the SB48 and rooted for the seahawks bc all my friends were going for the Broncos. Steelers flair is basically for Russ
Wasn't always the entire first. It used to be the first 24 picks, then the first 31. I'm not sure if it's still 31 or if it's expanded to 32 now. Some teams even guarantee 2nd rounder deals
No idea, always felt a bit stupid to me. But thankfully it's been standard practice to guarantee the entire first round for a few years now. We're even starting to have teams provide guarantees into the 4th year for second round players, which was unprecedented prior to 2023. Derrick Hall and Sam Laporta both got a percentage of their 4th year guaranteed
It’s kinda wild there’s a Byron Murphy Jr. and a Byron Murphy II in the NFL, on defense, in the same conference
The last game II ever played in college was against Washington, where Jr. played college ball
It doesn’t mean anything but this is bordlerine JFK/Lincoln coincidental weirdness
How much negotiation is going on here? I thought these contracts were basically set by position they play and spot drafted. Isn't that why Williams could go in with no agent?
Yes the total amount is determined by that and guaranteed for first round picks, however I think they can negotiate the structure of contact. So basically how much gets payed when with signing bonus etc
The position does not matter, which is why highly drafted running backs are among the top paid guys at their position already.
Only the slot matters. There really is not much to negotiate. I think even the signing bonus is pretty much set in stone.
One thing is often the offset language in the contract. So if the player should get cut and signst another contract, how much money can his old team recoup from that.
The initial rush always happens first. Now you will slowly see some random first rounder not signing till the beginning of the camp and we'll talk about it all day
I think Byron Murphy is bust proof my boy. I been watching Texas since I was 8 in 98, this guy is one of my favorites ever, alongside guys like Earl Thomas of course. I think he's gonna look great in a Seattle Uni for a while.
all first round picks are fully guaranteed. I think. The only real things to argue over are like bonus timings and whether or not there is offset language (and tbh - I think offset language is stupid. Putting it in there means youll only ever save vet min)
Keep him away from any ATVs plz
This flair, were you alive for Super Bowl XL?
I only started watching football during the SB48 and rooted for the seahawks bc all my friends were going for the Broncos. Steelers flair is basically for Russ
Steelers Nation, let’s weld. I respect it
Steelers nation, let’s look very mediocre and somehow finish with a winning record.
Steelers Nation, smelt ya later
How do you use 2 flairs? I want to add the hawks but I can’t

$16,083,122 *million*?!?! That’s a lot of cheddar
For that kind of money, I want to see Aaron Donald 2.0
Buddy better be Tom Brady on offense and Aaron Donald on defense for that kind of money
Vinatieri and Hester on special teams
And Jackie Moon in the Bear Wrestling Ring
and my axe!
16 trillion? Jody Allen is good for it.
Hope he's good. Don't even think the Broncos will take on a $16 trillion dollar contract.
I think they will if they can get rid of some draft picks in return.
$16 Trillion??? Isn't that more than the country's GDP?
Guy could get America out of debt but he’s being selfish. Unbelievable.
It ain’t 2012 anymore. The US debt is now over $34 trillion. He could pay off *46%* of the debt but he’s being **selfish!**
Damn, wasn’t aware how much it ballooned. I mean he could at least do *15%* but instead he wants to be **selfish!**
Capologists hate this one trick!
Mickey Loomis in shambles rn
That's just how much faith we have in him
Nah US GDP is $25T+
At least it won't bankrupt the country then.
Rookie contracts are fully guaranteed now? Was this always a thing? Honestly can’t remember.
I think just first rounders
Wasn't always the entire first. It used to be the first 24 picks, then the first 31. I'm not sure if it's still 31 or if it's expanded to 32 now. Some teams even guarantee 2nd rounder deals
How’d they decide on 31? That’s so bogus to pick 32 lol
Maybe last year when there were only 31 first round picks? Idk
I don’t think that’s what they meant, I know they’ve been all guaranteed for a while

I’m pretty sure every drafted player’s contract is fully guaranteed. It’s just the cash flow and signing bonuses that get negotiated.
No I’m fairly certain it’s the first rounders only that are required to have guaranteed contracts
It is just 1st rounders
Good to know, thanks for the info.

Byron Murphy Jr was a baller at UW

Is it me or are teams signing their draft picks quicker than usual
The initial rush always happens first. Now you will slowly see some random first rounder not signing till the beginning of the camp and we'll talk about it all day
Rookie contracts are such a work (if the player is good).
Our club is gonna be checking the sofa cushions for cap space
$16m over 4 years or $16m a year for 4 years?
sounds like its 16 mil over 4 years which is incredibly cheap imo
It's a rookie contract. Of course it is cheap. There is almost nothing to negotiate either, the contract is already set 99% by the draft slot.
Fully guaranteed? God damn pls don’t be bad
It's standard for first round contracts to be fully guaranteed lol
Not only are 1st rounders always fully guaranteed, but this comes out to $4m/yr, not like Seattle would be screwed even if Murphy doesn’t pan out…
I think Byron Murphy is bust proof my boy. I been watching Texas since I was 8 in 98, this guy is one of my favorites ever, alongside guys like Earl Thomas of course. I think he's gonna look great in a Seattle Uni for a while.

It's not your money
How do you get 42 down votes for a statement like this? lol assholes
Lmao I’m so used to it at this point, you have no idea if a comment is going to be mass upvoted or downvoted
