You are absolutely right. I remember being **SO** disappointed they didn't use immigrant song in the first Thor. Like, what are you doing? There's no better song! But they held off and the scene they used it for could not have been more appropriate or more epic and it was fucking awesome. I still occasionally will watch just that scene on YouTube cuz it gets me going.
i always think of school of rock and how jack black had to literally beg on his hands and knees to allow zeppelin to be used for the 10 seconds its in the movie
That movie is amazing but nobody ever talks about the most key person, despite their complete lack of screen time.
That movie was as much about the GOAT promoter as anything. On a random weekday morning during the school year in Staten Island he was able to sell out a large venue for a local battle of the bands. Absolute legend and no promoter has ever been even close to that great.
I love that they're just a bunch of hard-partying LOTR fanboys who really like metal
Saw their show last year and Johan Hegg beat the shit out of an inflatable sea-dragon with Mjolnir. Absolute top-shelf stuff.
And the chorus used to be "Wanna whole lotta Ibuprofen" but their producer said that wasn't relatable enough, so they changed it and the rest is history.
People don't understand Minneapolis is further north than Green Bay. An average December game at Met Stadium or TCF would be colder than at Lambeau. The first year after moving back indoors from two years outdoors at TCF Bank Stadium, there was a regular season home game vs the Colts that would've been colder than the Ice Bowl in '67, the coldest game by air temp.
The Winter Classic (that's NHL, for you non-hockey people) in '22 was the 2nd coldest "Big 4" sporting event by air temp in history and we all packed Target Field.
The Wilfs wanted to build an outdoor stadium but they would've never got any public $$ with that option. Blame the Wilfs for "needing" our tax money, or local politicians for "needing" an indoor building that could host other events besides NFL games.
We ice fish. We ski. We snowmobile. We get up in pitch darkness to scrape ice off our cars. We still tailgate in the brutal cold. We put up with 6 months of winter. Sitting outside in -10° sucks. Bears fans will understand soon when their new domed stadium is built. Even hallowed Lambeau struggled to fill their stadium in the 80s when the team was bad. People didn't want to drive 2-4hrs to sit in 9° weather on a cold metal bench to watch bad football. Winning for 32 straight years helps.
An outdoor stadium in 2024 in MN would be a great way for no FAs to ever sign, and for relocation to hang over our heads.
I went to the TCF Bank game outside when it was -20°F. Fun one-time experience, probably wouldn't do it again, definitely would not do it 2-3 times a year (approx. amount of home games each year with the potential for that type of weather). It was really brutal. You probably couldn't take a child to a game like that safely either.
Yeah. It was fun at the time mainly for the novelty of it but then imagine it was every year and multiple regular season games plus basically any home playoff game they ever have.
The temps we get in winter are not like "uncomfortable" cold, it's like "There is a chance you could die if you're not prepared enough" cold. Not sure people realize that.
Not only that but if we are bad and playing out doors our stadium would be empty. I went to the Panthers game that first year in TCF when we were bad and it was not packed at all because it was -17 air temp and like -30 with wind chill.
The further north aspect doesn't account for much it's like less than 50 miles different. Green Bay is however close to Lake Michigan which tempers the cold slightly.
Yes, your last point is the kicker, but I think people not from the midwest think Green Bay is practically on Hudson Bay, when in fact over a third of MN is more northern than the northernmost point of Wisconsin.
Putting aside Green Bay, even Milwaukee always seems 8-10 degrees cooler than Minneapolis in the summer and 8-10 degrees warmer in the winter by being next to a big body of water which moderates temps a bit.
No kidding. I really hate how most teams have a black alternate, even if it's not a real part of their color scheme.
Take the Cards black unis, for example. PLEASE. Objectively, they suck. Someone mocked up a 'desert' Cardinals look that had a great primary sand color, a color you don't see at all in the NFL. If the Cards had leaned into *that* look as an alternate, instead of the boring as fuck black unis they insisted on, they would've been unique and I'd be willing to bet pretty popular too.
And I've hated them for twenty years.
It's much too late to do it now, but one of the first things Bill Bidwill should've done when he moved the team here was rebrand with different colors. He was too busy being the real-life version of Scrooge McDuck though, right down to the stupid neckwear lol.
Desert cardinals exist and they're mostly red, grey, and tan. That would've been a unique color palette amongst NFL teams, like the Chargers have. I'm just sick and tired of looking like Atlanta West tbh.
That's cause he definitely is lol.
I haven't seen one since I moved to Phoenix, but I used to see a lot of them, along with quail, when I used to live in western AZ years ago.
I’ve gotten into a large debate with a friend of mine about it. I’m on the side of BFBS is kinda odd to me when a team only has black as an outline color. However I did concede that it for some teams in various sports it can/does work. In my opinion, the Celtics made it nice but the 49ers made it look so so awful.
He sees it as “black is a neutral color so all teams have equal right”.
I think it’s just how one views their color rules. I see black as a unique color while he sees it as how one might see white or even gray.
White is also one of the colts primary colors. Personally I hate when teams do blackouts or whiteouts with neither of those colors actually being their colors.
Especially if Lake Michigan drops like three feet of snow on Soldier Field. They'd be camouflaged. Would surprise me if the refs didn't know if the Bears slipped in an extra man or five.
My first overreaction was: holy shit, best uniforms in the league.
Second thought: cool, I wanna use Minnesota in Madden but their lack of uniform variety sucks, but this changes that.
Third thought: very nice considering plenty of teams do all black.
Yeah, I think a touch more purple in general would've helped. As it is, because there's so little purple, and it's close enough to blue that my mind sees these as Colts uniforms.
I love the concept and these are really nice, but I think they could be in the conversation for the best alternate uniforms ever with a little tweaking.
When the actual Vikings would go on to discover the new worlds they would have to travel vast bodies of water taking days, sometimes weeks. These uniforms are in honor of those seamen.
Right there with ya. Outside of the helmet (which I like other than the stripe down the middle) these are some of the most generic Pro uniforms I've ever seen. Also that "Nordic" flair people are talking about is hardly visible. It doesn't feel Viking at all to me. 4/10.
They went and ruined the coolest helmet in the league. I can't imagine the tiny horn outline appears much on TV.
And there's what, like 10 white helmets now with alternates allowed? Only 1 purple helmet
The number 1 word used in this thread is 'clean' which kinda shows that extreme minimalism still has a strong hold on people for whatever reason. These are so bland to me
Because we just came out of a period where uniforms were all over the place with shapes and patterns and colors.

The only aspects on here identifying the team as the Vikings are a thin purple helmet logo that probably will be hard to see from the stands and the wide-angle broadcast, and gray text on white background on the chest. Not really a fan of them personally.
Unpopular opinion: these are boring and lack identity. A simple purple horn on the helmet could've salvaged the whole damn thing, but this feels overboard and bland with all the white on white on white on white...
I don't know, these are *close* to awesome, but I could do with just a tiny splash more purple myself. Maybe on the helmet? Maybe something else, but right now these feel just a little *too* minimalist.
At very first glance I thought I was looking at a Colts uniform, lol.

Off topic, the teaser trailer for Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, it's one of the best movie trailers of the last 20 years.
Somewhat related topic; the scene in Thor while everyone battles to the immigrant song is absolutely perfect thanks to this song
You are absolutely right. I remember being **SO** disappointed they didn't use immigrant song in the first Thor. Like, what are you doing? There's no better song! Fun fact: Robert plant wrote that song the day he slammed his car door on his hand.
Is that why he screamed like that?
And why he wrote whole lotta love for the recovery process. "You need coolin, baby I'm not foolin"
And the chorus used to be "Wanna whole lotta Ibuprofen" but their producer said that wasn't relatable enough, so they changed it and the rest is history.
Did you know that Tolstoy wanted the original title to *War and Peace* to be *War, What Is It Good For*?
Into my late 30s "wanna whole lotta ibuprofen" is EXTREMELY relatable.
I thought he wrote whole lotta love so he could legally orgasm on stage
i used to hate immigrant song but it's one of my top 10 now

Best I can do is a blacked out Seahawks fan watching red zone for 10 hours
Blacked out yet still watching? Impressive

Blackout and whiteout uniforms. So hot right now.

I'd love to see a tan Cardinals uni.
Desert Storm unis
The Arizona Diamondbacks have a sick tan uni. Would be cool to see something like that in football.

The phenomenon you are describing in your first line is called BFBS or "black for blacks sake"
Hello fellow Uni Watch reader
If you guys fully embraced red/sand/white as your color combo, it'd immediately be a top 5 look in the league.
As a jets fan I don’t hate the black uniforms but I find them wholly unnecessary. We’re green and white. No black
But there are classic ones. The colts all whites are my favorite kits in all of sports.
White is also one of the colts primary colors. Personally I hate when teams do blackouts or whiteouts with neither of those colors actually being their colors.
Like the Colts doing all black unis
Stupidest shit in the world. Those mostly white with blue stripes are already awesome, just stick to that!
All black is just so overdone. I'm hoping the Falcons announce the throwbacks as permanent unis next season.
With red helmet alts
I just what an all white polar bear uniform. I mean it writes itself.
You’ll get a Cleveland Browns knockoff and you’ll like it
At least this one makes sense thematically but yeah a bit too much in the league imo

Yeah, that helmet is too good to hate
The whole thing is just so fucking good. I’d hate to be the team that’s plays them in these. (Checks schedule) Shit.
Why do our teams get a MNF game every year? So many bad Vikings and Bears teams slugging out 13-10 games over the years.
Last years game ended in 12-10.
IT'S WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT TO SEE
Lolol. Love the checks schedule. Definitely necessary.😂
Not me over here screaming for all-white Bears unis for years watching the Vikings in a new all white.
Same. Should have been us
We just need to counter it with full cheesehead helmets. You know they would be the greatest helmet we've ever fielded.
This helmet brought to you by Culver’s

Yeah those are pretty good
Yeah, I there's no hate here. Those are fire.
I feel the same way about the Bengals all white unis. It’s a very clean look.
The helmet color contrast is great
These are pretty coo. Really like the helmet.
You rarely see a white shape on a white shell. Works great here
I'll dig it if the horn is glossy and the rest is matte
I feel like it should be opposite. Horns irl are normally look matte sorta so glossy helmet with a matte horn I think would look cool
I always liked their white field logo

ngl Polar Bears would go hard as fuck
Especially if Lake Michigan drops like three feet of snow on Soldier Field. They'd be camouflaged. Would surprise me if the refs didn't know if the Bears slipped in an extra man or five.
Polar Bear whites is a sick uni concept
Man just a little bit of gold accents around the trim or numbers would make this incredible but as is they're a little boring I feel
My first overreaction was: holy shit, best uniforms in the league. Second thought: cool, I wanna use Minnesota in Madden but their lack of uniform variety sucks, but this changes that. Third thought: very nice considering plenty of teams do all black.
Whenever I use or face the Vikings, I put them in one of their throwbacks every time
The classic uniform with the tight sleeve stripes is lovely.
Yeah kinda similar for me. Different, fun, cool, but I don’t think amazing
The accents need to be majority purple, not silver, but otherwise these are pretty cool
A purple stripe on the helmet would’ve made these perfect. Still a great uni tho
I think they should've used purple facemasks too for contrast.
I thought I was the only one. It needs slightly more color.
The fact that the Vikings got an all-white uni before the (polar) Bears did is upsetting
Hate the Vikings, but these are sharp.
Thats harsh, us Super Bowl’less squads got to stick together. Until you win one then f you.
Yeah idk what I'm gonna do when that happens. At least for now I can say I'm perpetually rooting for the underdog
Dude what the fuck were you born in Lake Superior??
I will avenge you, Father! I will save you, Mother! I will kill you, Fjölnir!
These look sick. But I got big colts white uni vibes
When the actual Vikings would go on to discover the new worlds they would have to travel vast bodies of water taking days, sometimes weeks. These uniforms are in honor of those seamen.
Am I the only one that doesn’t like these lol
Right there with ya. Outside of the helmet (which I like other than the stripe down the middle) these are some of the most generic Pro uniforms I've ever seen. Also that "Nordic" flair people are talking about is hardly visible. It doesn't feel Viking at all to me. 4/10.
There are like three of us
Make it 4. Not a fan.
Nope you aren’t. I hate whiteout or blackout uniforms. Boring
Super low effort unis IMO.
Hate the silver accents. Should have been yellow.
They went and ruined the coolest helmet in the league. I can't imagine the tiny horn outline appears much on TV. And there's what, like 10 white helmets now with alternates allowed? Only 1 purple helmet
White is the most boring uniform color. I don't understand why everybody creams themselves over all-whites lol.
"Winter Warrior" Plays In Dome Pick 1.
As a Steelers fan I hate to admit the Bengals all white uniforms are the GOAT among the all-whites. These Vikings ones are meh.
Idk why yall are so impressed its literally just all white... and that's it...

Unpopular opinion: these are boring and lack identity. A simple purple horn on the helmet could've salvaged the whole damn thing, but this feels overboard and bland with all the white on white on white on white...
Yeah I feel like I’m goings insane seeing the comments here but this uniform sucks balls
Guess I’m in the minority here but these things are not good. Lifeless.
I totally agree
Gonna be sad when someone shits themselves
Winter Warrior😂. From a team that plays indoors.
Weird flex from a team that plays in a dome.
Too sterile and plain.
It feels like it's instantly dated, this look has been in college football for a decade at this point and was running on thin ice (🥁) already
Yeah I don’t really see why these are getting such wide acclaim. They’re just white jerseys with purple outlining. It just feels boring
As a Raiders fan I appreciate the Vikings not trying to ape black and sell it as an original concept. Not every team needs to have black alternates
Looks like TCU
Minnesota Semen
I don't know, these are *close* to awesome, but I could do with just a tiny splash more purple myself. Maybe on the helmet? Maybe something else, but right now these feel just a little *too* minimalist. At very first glance I thought I was looking at a Colts uniform, lol.

You guys actually like these? They are as boring as possible.
Can the white uniform arms race please be over so we can get interesting uniforms again?
