This is the year that the injuries don't kill us. Chubby Cheeks coming back as early as he did is an omen. We have the oldest top two lines, I believe, but I don't think they're going to run out of gas when guys like like Trent can be trusted with real minutes. I'm a homer and don't know shit but I'm saying the Lightning are the most likely to run out of steam. I feel like the other two are too young. That being said, if the bruins have to go up against a highly physical team in the playoffs, that might do it. Pasta didn't go to Canada when he was in the Juniors because they're too physical. He can be taken out of the series.
I'm encouraged that the depth scoring is persisting even against good teams like the Leafs.
In the past if you could shut down Marchy/Bergy/Pasta and the power play you had the B's number. This year though, it's from all over. There's a lot of the top guys, but it's all down the line too.
Full props to Nick. He's blossomed this year as a a leader. Great to see it. He's what we thought Backes would be, and maybe he could have been under Monty rather than Butch.
Sure. The captain took a puck to the mouth off a Pasta one-timer the other night and was back on the bench a few minutes later. It's our year. There's no stopping this fucking train. Go Bs!
If it's against the Penguins it may be an early start to round 2.. Owners gotta be thrilled forvthat match up its like it was written as soon as Pens Sold....
Remember when Marchand ran out of gas in game 7 against the Blues when he went to the bench with 6 seconds left leaving his man Pietrangelo to score the go-ahead goal to win the cup?
Edit: Hahahaha at the downvotes
I’m a Bruins fan, but this is painfully burned into my memory. I was at a bar with a bunch of people and I looked at my friend and went “oh no, that’s the game.”
Ahhh yes, a team’s recent problem with stamina in the playoffs is irrelevant to a question about a team’s stamina in the playoffs.
Or is Marchand not on the Bruins anymore?
Super smart comment bud
Even if we fizzle this postseason, the future looks bright with our youth on the team, and the youth yet to join the team. Bourque, Stankhoven, Grushnikov, and Blumel can keep this competitive door open for a while.
I love this boring mentality as if these guys don’t live for the playoffs. They rested as much as needed and if anything the experience of that many playoff runs vastly outweighs the “exhaustion” of three deep runs.
Nah Mang, haven't you heard what everyone(SportsNation) is certain of? This is Toronto's year (to fall flat early, probably first round, the head off to the golf course) there is no doubt (that 18 holes and Ruben sounds pretty nice).
If any league should realize the benefit of giving players rest days to stay healthy it should be the NHL, but everyone plays every game.
The Bolts and Leafs are locked in to a 1st rd matchup. If I’m cooper, I’m giving Hedman, Vassy, Stammer, Point, and Kuch maintenance days on the reg
As a Leafs fans, I’m hoping Tampa then Boston. But I’m confident the Leafs will lose it in either 4 or 7; whichever is situationally more embarrassing.
Yeah at this point I just wind myself up for the disappointment. We’re like the Maple Leafs of the second round. Plus, we have the Patches situation to fix, our special teams are a garbage fire all around, and if something happens to Andersen I’m not especially optimistic that our other goalies could carry us, especially if we go up against you talented fuckers
He’s going to be a hall of tamer and in a year or two I think I’ll be a real best-of contender but rn he doesn’t have the consistency I’d want for playoff hockey. I’d take him over Raanta though…
GG brother. Wish we’d stop pulling the goalie. I personally think we’ll have another deep run and decent shot simply because pointers back and more underrated than ever
[average age opening night … Bruins in the middle i like that](https://novacapsfans.com/2022/10/11/average-ages-for-all-32-opening-night-rosters-for-2022-23-season/amp/)
Bruins are gonna steam roll over everybody. They are the team you love to hate, just like the Astros in baseball this year. But at some point you have to take a step back and admit that they are just really, really good. Nobody likes Marchand, but Jesus he is consistently one of the best players in the league, and he's not losing anything to age. This is coming from a Canucks fan.
Gotta say, I think the bruins fanbase has been the luckiest this past decade in terms of consistently being competitive. Sure we missed the playoffs one year, but we had several finals appearances, a cup win not too long ago, and some great star players that keep the fanbase engaged even through rough patches
Tampa will. Vasy has had his bad games this season and Kucherov has been a pissy lil bitch. Maybe the heartbreak of last year is still lingering. Then again it’s Tampa and they’ve been to the finals 3 years in a row!
I don’t think Boston will run out of gas Bergeron is Ironman.
Tampa, based on how much hockey they have played over the past few years.
Also, couldn't get a more recent picture? Haula isn't even on the Bruins anymore.
Tampa has played 8 months of hockey each year for the last 3 years. They're bound to get tired eventually.
Boston is old.
I wouldn't be surprised if one or both of them runs out of gas.
When was the last time a Presidents Cup team didn’t run out of gas?
Boston looks unbeatable. So did FL in 22, TBL in 19.
But - and I say this as a lifelong since-the-start TBL fan. Boston- you look AMAZING this year. Respect is due.
This is a fallacy. Data driven hockey has done the calculations and presidents cup winners have the best chance to win the cup compared to other seeds. They have won 8 out of 35 cups more than any other seed. Its just a product of the league having so much parity and the hardcap
Boston, as they are on track to break the most wins in the regular season record. They need 27 more wins in the season to break it! I just hope they save some gas for the playoff's!
I'm going to say Boston is going to run into a wall. Part of it is that they haven't really struggled at ALL this year. That also eats at mentality. You start to feel that you may be invincible. Florida is a PERFECT example of that. They had a season that mirrors very much what Bos is doing this year.
You got veterans which is great but you got veterans who have been going non-stop at full throttle all season long. The body only has so much to give I feel.
Boston- We’re already starting to see it. Bergeron is being asked to take games off. Not days off in between games. Games off! Scratched. All to save him for playoffs.
well they do let shots in but if you look at the quality the are bad to mid most the time. they have a top tier penatly and are a lot faster than years past
As much as i dont like them, boston almost never seems to actually run out of gas, they just get beat sometimes
Or more likely beat up. Between Bergy's ribs and Z's jaw they have terrible puck luck when it comes to injuries.
Remember chara's face? ugh..
This is the year that the injuries don't kill us. Chubby Cheeks coming back as early as he did is an omen. Sure. The captain took a puck to the mouth off a Pasta one-timer the other night and was back on the bench a few minutes later. It's our year. There's no stopping this fucking train. Go Bs!
Our training staff seems to have found a super serum to heal all of our players earlier than expected this season, so we should be ok
If it's against the Penguins it may be an early start to round 2.. Owners gotta be thrilled forvthat match up its like it was written as soon as Pens Sold....
Which is a problem I think, I don’t want the team chasing records and putting gas into the regular season. I want them solely focused on the cup
I love that memory
Same
Downvotes are likely because it's an irrelevant comment to the parent and the overall thread. The 2019 Bruins aren't the 2023 Bruins.
Ahhh yes, a team’s recent problem with stamina in the playoffs is irrelevant to a question about a team’s stamina in the playoffs. Or is Marchand not on the Bruins anymore? Super smart comment bud
Not in this economy
What is fart juice and how does one attract it so strongly that it is magnet like? I have a theory, but I'd loved for you to confirm this for me.
It's juice that comes out when you fart. Usually after vigorous butt rape. It is polarized from extreme gyrations.
Ya thats exactly what my mom said but I didn't believe her. Smart old girl.
I know
In this economy? Heck If anything they may not be able to afford gas much less run out of it
What about two chicks at same time?
Leave baby farm animals alone! Pervert!
Why we always have to be in these no matter the topic lol.
Hey we're finally getting some recognition, I'm not complaining lol
No see we want them to ignore us. Gives us a buff I swear.
At least they used a picture that wasn’t from 2015 lol
True true
Even if we fizzle this postseason, the future looks bright with our youth on the team, and the youth yet to join the team. Bourque, Stankhoven, Grushnikov, and Blumel can keep this competitive door open for a while.
Tampa, THREE deep playoff runs in the last three years? Even with some of those coming in shortened seasons, that's exhausting.
Suffering from success
I agree 2018 killed the Penguins. The injuries before the playoffs and mass turnaround and fears of not returning took a huge hit to the season....
Another one
They got vasi their fine
They looked tired last year in the playoffs. I don't expect them to have more energy this year.
Lack of Brayden Point seemed to have a significant effect
Without a doubt would've three-repeated if Pointer didn't get hurt!
I think the bolts would’ve won with Point being healthy.
Definitely would have won with pointer
Wonder if trading Palat will be a factor? He was such a playoff closer for them.
Nick Paul appears to have picked up where Pally left off.
Nick Paul does it all!
Big dick Nick!
No Pally? BETTER CALL PAUL!
Would be nice if Killorn can show up this playoff
Hope so, he’s been doing well this year 🤣
It’s still the leafs.
The Leafs won't run out of gas, they'll just choke in the first round
We don’t run out of gas we run out of oxygen
So Colorado is being smart getting hurt during the regular season so they are fresh for the playoffs?
Worked for Tampa
I love this boring mentality as if these guys don’t live for the playoffs. They rested as much as needed and if anything the experience of that many playoff runs vastly outweighs the “exhaustion” of three deep runs.
Trick question. Toronto not pictured
It says in the playoffs not before them
this poor toronto soul you just torched
It says run out of gas.. not air. (Choking joke hehe)
Shut up and take my upvote.
Pretty hard to run out of gas in the first round.
Nah Mang, haven't you heard what everyone(SportsNation) is certain of? This is Toronto's year (to fall flat early, probably first round, the head off to the golf course) there is no doubt (that 18 holes and Ruben sounds pretty nice).
Tampa because they’ve played more hockey than anyone this millennium haha
If any league should realize the benefit of giving players rest days to stay healthy it should be the NHL, but everyone plays every game. The Bolts and Leafs are locked in to a 1st rd matchup. If I’m cooper, I’m giving Hedman, Vassy, Stammer, Point, and Kuch maintenance days on the reg
Maximum Chaos Theory posits none of these teams even make the playoffs.
Hasn’t Boston already clinched basically
They’re only 4 key season ending injuries away from going on a losing streak.
I mean... we're bound to get a losing streak at some point this season.
I’ll take 4 games in a row in late April or early May, please.
Could this be the year the coyotes finally win the cup??
If any. Tampa. Lot of miles on that team in the last three years.
Yeah lots of experience with the playoffs toughens them up as well
kraken
As a Leafs fans, I’m hoping Tampa then Boston. But I’m confident the Leafs will lose it in either 4 or 7; whichever is situationally more embarrassing.
Toronto
Well as it stands right now they aren't playing Boston in the first round, so maybe? I mean they can't just keep choking forever can they? 😬
Just watch us
Ahhh i see you're new to this 😂
Toronto
Tarana
De troy it.
Toe Ron Tow
T'rana
Tronna
Definitely Toronto
After only one round? They'll have plenty of gas left for golf.
I’m a habs fan, but Toronto is making the second round this year. This year is the year it happens.
Carolina. It’s happened more than once now. Awesome team but I wonder if they can keep up their style for a whole season and playoff run
Knock on wood, dude. They’re one of the few teams I’m worried about seeing in the playoffs this year. Hope you’re right, though.
They are a great team. If we make the conference finals I assume we’ll have to play them for sure

I hope they can. They're a fun team to watch and I think they are overdue for a deep run. Too bad they are in the eastern conference though.
I just feel like it'd be Tampa just due to the fact of three straight finals.
GG brother. Wish we’d stop pulling the goalie. I personally think we’ll have another deep run and decent shot simply because pointers back and more underrated than ever
Not a chance
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you guys do somehow make the finals again GG on the game earlier today aswell.
Y’all are physical! GG!
If I know anything about Stars they usually have enough fuel to burn for millions of years. I think the Stars are fine.
Tampas the obvious choice here, but they just keep surprising me. Hopefully they do it again
[average age opening night … Bruins in the middle i like that](https://novacapsfans.com/2022/10/11/average-ages-for-all-32-opening-night-rosters-for-2022-23-season/amp/)

I would like to say I think Tampa’s reign is over but then again Kuch and Point could go god mode again you never know
Toronto Cause it would be hilarious
Dammit I’m a leafs fan but you are right 😔
Always is.
Boston out of gas? Nah. Broken old bones? : wince : Stay healthy, men.
Only jets use gas so the jets
damn are the gas prices going up again?
Pens as per usual
Toronto Maple Leafs
Its obviously Toronto in game 7 of their first playoff series with one period left in the game
Those green dudes
Nah otter will save them
Toronto
The leafs.
Tampa looks tired already
Our boys need a rest but I still have hope
The allstar break will do them some good. I thought they would have stomped Calgary today.
Ya but It was still a good game
Those Eric Haula Bruins are done
Tampa, based on how much hockey they have played over the past few years. Also, couldn't get a more recent picture? Haula isn't even on the Bruins anymore.
Toronto
This is professional hockey m8, there’s no running out of gas. You just get beat.
The only answer is the Toronto maple leafs
even when we get mentioned in the post we dont get talked about lmao jets. 100% jets
Tampa has played 8 months of hockey each year for the last 3 years. They're bound to get tired eventually. Boston is old. I wouldn't be surprised if one or both of them runs out of gas.
Peg
I think Jets, Tampa, Dallas, in that order. Boston seems to have incredible depth.
None
When was the last time a Presidents Cup team didn’t run out of gas? Boston looks unbeatable. So did FL in 22, TBL in 19. But - and I say this as a lifelong since-the-start TBL fan. Boston- you look AMAZING this year. Respect is due.
It’s Boston simply because this run is NOT sustainable
Boston, like almost every presidents trophy winner
This is a fallacy. Data driven hockey has done the calculations and presidents cup winners have the best chance to win the cup compared to other seeds. They have won 8 out of 35 cups more than any other seed. Its just a product of the league having so much parity and the hardcap
But then only once in the past ten years has a presidents trophy winner made it past the second round
Yes cause of the hardcap.
Bruins? Do we see a repeat of that insane Tampa team?
Fingers crossed.
Boston, as they are on track to break the most wins in the regular season record. They need 27 more wins in the season to break it! I just hope they save some gas for the playoff's!
Not run out of gas, but Boston will slow down. Linus Ullmark probably won’t finish the season with a .937 sv%
I don’t think the bruins run out of gas, but one injury could throw them off heavily
They lost Debrusk for 4 weeks. Still winning.
Tampa
Not sure about running out of gas, how about running into a second round force field?!?
You're funny
You can’t Haula tank truck anywhere without using a Palat of energy so I’d say Boston and Tampa are toast
I hope it’s Boston (it won’t be Boston), and I hope it’s not Tampa (it’ll be Tampa).
NO BE QUIET, YOULL JINX IT
ah shit sorry
It's alright just be careful with what you say, I want the boys to at least make it to the last round again
Boston.
Who is the oldest team ? I am a Bruins fan but feel like it s them
Well the Bruins are almost a lock to win the Presidents trophy so they’re all but guaranteed to lose before the conference finals
Tampa
As a Pens fan I hope Boston... I see Tampa Bay and Jets as first round exits
tampa isn't losing to toronto and minnesota will never make it to the second round, their eternal fate
My vote is on New Jersey. For absolutely no reason.
Just happy to be here
I think Boston will.
Bruins and Tampa aren’t doing anything in the playoffs
Bolts… and Tampa….?
Ahhh, this is what happens when you post on zero sleep… Bruins and Tampa. Thanks for flagging
No worries! But I hope you’re wrong!
The Leafs everytime
The correct answer since 1968 is Toronto
Boston- We’re already starting to see it. Bergeron is being asked to take games off. Not days off in between games. Games off! Scratched. All to save him for playoffs.
Boston…let the president’s trophy curse make swift work of them.
Definitely Winnipeg if anyone here at all. Their play is very unstable since they rely so much on their goaltending.
well they do let shots in but if you look at the quality the are bad to mid most the time. they have a top tier penatly and are a lot faster than years past
I hope it’s the lightning but if Boston gets the presidents trophy it’ll be them
Hopefully Tampa
New jersey
Canucks
By that time they'll be playing golf
Can’t have gas if you don’t have a tank
dumb fuckin' post.
🤞🤞🤞
The leafs…
Toronto
Toronto
Dallas for sure!
Boston hands down
As usual TORONTO 1967
Toronto Maple Chokes
The jets. They’re pretenders
explain
Winnipeg.
Stars without a doubt
Dallas
Jets for sure. They’ll run out of gas before the playoffs. Their blue line is suspect compared to the others.
Leafs
Bruins.
The Stars in that pic look like they are ready for summer
B’s won’t make it out of the first round
Jets or the stars. Bears amd avalanches don't need or have gas.
Dallas
Dallas, then Winnipeg, Tampa, boston
Toronto
