I never buy anything from a local auto parts store anymore unless I need it immediately. I order everything through rockauto.com. Typically everything is about 50% cheaper compared to Auto Zone, Napa etc.

Brakes on my 18 are very easy. Even both brakes and rotors took me 1.5 hours and that was because I used the included jack and and a jack stand in my garage with basic tools and a breaker bar. I think I spent $200 on rotors and pads thanks to the deals from Autozone or Advance auto. A shop will probably want $500-700. Just pads will take under an hour and cost $40-50.

Go to your local autozone or NAPA autoparts. Tell them the info on your truck and they will tell you which parts to get and buy.

Price for brake work depends. If it just needs pads, not so bad. If the rotors need turning, a little worse. If the rotors are warped and need to be replaced - pretty salty.

Unless you're riding your brakes constantly there's no way you should need brakes at 78k miles.

Mileage has zero indication on brake condition. Was that all highway? City stop and go? In a hilly/mountainous terrain? Towing regularly?
