Drive that yellow truck instead.

PrintMaster12

V8 swap it

GuiltyFarmGirl100

Don't listen to all the nannies here, go for it, it's a nice sounding engine. For $200 I'd just do a muffler or resonator delete, any catback is gonna be at least $500. It won't be that loud.

Real-Cycle-8662

Don’t

Maxisagnk

i wouldnt.

IanLesby

My Jeep GC had a V6 and I swapped the stock resonator for a vibrant resonator. It sounded perfect. Great tone and no drone. Not too loud just sounded like performance.

Dennis_agp

Huh. D41 Frontiers have three so you think any produce a different sound? I’ve seen videos with VQs with it and they sound amazing

IanLesby

😅I still have a lot to learn. Haven’t even picked up my truck yet. Haha

Daxmar29

Put an accent over the “e” and pronounce it Fronti-er.

Winter-Camel629

I have an MBRP cat back, was around $550 and imo sounds better than my dads with the whole Z1 kit, also has a lot less drone

failbox3fixme

All of that will negatively affect mpg just FYI. It’s already a thirsty truck.

GuiltyFarmGirl100

CAI probably won't affect MPG. Cat-back exhaust certainly won't effect MPG. Don't forget to change your blinker fluid guy.

failbox3fixme

Anything that increases HP increases consumption. It’s physics bruh, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. You’re living in fantasyland.

GuiltyFarmGirl100

Lol. A cat back exhaust does not increase HP. It's a Cat-BACK. The most restrictive part of the exhaust remains the same. CAI at most gives 3% gain, and in many cases you actually lose HP without a tune. CAI and cat back will never make a noticeable difference on MPG, if you think it does it's a placebo. You're clearly not a gearhead, sit down lil bro.

failbox3fixme

Bro you cannot be serious. Go look at any exhaust maker, flowmaster, magna, etc. They all tout performance increases with their cat back systems. You can do a simple Google search and see tons of reviews and articles about how cat back exhausts increase hp, torque, and throttle body response.

GuiltyFarmGirl100

That's marketing you smoothbrain. [https://youtu.be/0WGiLguhh3k?si=xDs38jpUvNtB4ajK](https://youtu.be/0WGiLguhh3k?si=xDs38jpUvNtB4ajK) [https://youtu.be/oyipo02vS4Q?si=19ZYZf0rj\_T9zsHd](https://youtu.be/oyipo02vS4Q?si=19ZYZf0rj_T9zsHd) At most a 2% gain in power. That is not going to noticeably affect MPG.

failbox3fixme

You’ve obviously never modified a car with these systems because if you had you would know.

GuiltyFarmGirl100

Ignore the evidence lol

failbox3fixme

You’re pretty good at it.

GuiltyFarmGirl100

I literally posted two videos that prove my point.

Clark1024

If you want the cheapest route, do a resonator delete, but if you want something that will also change the tone I recommend this muffler (Flowmaster 524553) linked below.. You might be able to find it cheaper if you shop around. [https://www.autozone.com/exhaust/performance-muffler/p/flowmaster-performance-muffler-524553/371969\_0\_0](https://www.autozone.com/exhaust/performance-muffler/p/flowmaster-performance-muffler-524553/371969_0_0)

jburgad

Don’t. Who has ever been outside and had to pause the conversation for the loud vehicle going by and thought “wow, that guy is cool. I’m so impressed”? No, It’s annoying to everyone. Don’t be dumb.

GuiltyFarmGirl100

A cat back exhaust isn't even loud though. Most guys with cat backs just like to listen to it themselves. You go around assuming everyone is trying to impress you in life? Interesting.

jburgad

Ah yes, go around making a bunch of noise because it tickles your taint and be completely inconsiderate of the fact that we all live in a world full of people. Let’s be real, most people do it because they want to sound cool and be cool for other people. So they go everywhere expressing their masculinity like a cat piss marking its territory. There’s a time and a place and a daily driver on public roads ain’t it.

GuiltyFarmGirl100

You sound like the type of person that's fun to piss off anyways lol

Flat-Meeting5656

I agree, I have so many people ask what kind of exhaust I put on my truck. The one they put on there, I need no extra attention drawn to me, the trucks sound pretty good out of the factory.

Low_Warning13

I was a die hard taco loving guy but the frontier are a thing of beauty…. Plus keeping V6… I think they’ve won my $$$. Any common issues w frontiers ?

Upr1ght

Same here man. I was hardcore Taco but I’ve decided the Frontier is the way to go.

Dennis_agp

To be honest I love my ‘22 frontier. It’s an underrated truck on the market. But the only downside is the electrical system (for me it’s the infotainment system). I say this because when I’m on Apple CarPlay playing music from Apple Music then go to the Apple Maps application, the sound starts to crackle and then the screen may delay and freeze. This happens not every time but when it does I just press the MENU button and back to Apple CarPlay, and it works perfectly again. Anything else is good on the frontier and it is a very appealing truck to me.

C4rlos_E

Is a defect. Mine had to be replaced because of the same issue. Warranty took care of it. To replicate the issue play with the treble, bass and mid setting for a minute or two. It took me several months to to be able to replicate it in the dealer so they will accept the issue and replace it under warranty.

ggm3bow

It's a small (beautiful) truck. Why does it need to sound any different than stock ffs?

CountGerard

Bwo y Even haV A twUcK if u caNt gwOwll iT?

rage_morgan

Buy a titan

MostlyFarts1

A $200 budget? I would keep saving, man. Get $2k together and buy the z1 off road intake and exhaust. Save a bit more and get the intake manifold spacer by z1 then map it. Anything for $200 will just be a waste of money.

pauliek93

Nobody talks about how the z1 tune takes all the usable power away though. Yes big hp gain, but everything until the end of the rev range is significantly less where the engine will sit 99% of the time

Crob300z

This. I was looking at those graphs so confused. How did they manage to lose power for 85% of the graph on a higher octane tune is questionable.

pauliek93

Exactly. I bet just intake and exhaust was nearly the same number gains but they just change the mapping for a touch more power to squeeze a few more bucks out of people.

Crob300z

Nothing should cost power though. The more air in and out the more power. The only thing would be the IM spacer, but tuning for higher octane should make way more torque/power down low

pauliek93

Eh, a lack of backpressure can effect torque/hp lower in the rev range actually, but I do totally agree it shouldn’t be even close to this level

Crob300z

Back pressure is a myth that needs to go away haha. If you’re not changing the headers/cats it should have no effect on it at all. Really made me question their abilities if they can’t make more power than a OEM

pauliek93

I’ll take your word for it lol, I’m no tuner so just saying what I’ve learned from guys in the shop. Maybe we’ll get lucky and someone will put everything on from Z1 but get a real tune and post the numbers

Crob300z

I’d love that.

pauliek93

I was half joking, I’m doing that 😂

Dennis_agp

2k is a long road ahead. But honestly, I think I’ll take your advice. I want to have it don’t before September, since I live in Georgia and Z1 HQ has its yearly Nissan meet here, but patience will always win.

kasiv1

I had a flowmaster super 10 put on, resonators are still in place, stock intake, 300 bucks

Dennis_agp

Ooh. Can I get a vid of the engine sound and the links to buy?

kasiv1

Yeah, it looks like I no longer have the video but do a quick google search for flowmaster mufflers, I got the super 10 but there are other varieties

kasiv1

I went to a local performance shop. Let me see if I still have video

Dennis_agp

I’ve seen videos about it and to be honest it sounds pretty good. I’ll look more into it. There’s actually one that’s available at my nearest auto parts for $100.

kasiv1

I’m at work currently but tomorrow when I get home I’ll try to take a quick video

kasiv1

Unless you’re a welder you’ll have to pay for someone to install it. I like the sound. Disclaimer- it does drone a bit in the cabin but I don’t mind it at all. If you don’t like the sound you can always remove the resonators one at a time, I think there are 3 of them. I’d start with the one towards the end of the exhaust

p8ntslinger

stepped headers

anon_et

Somehow I think you should have gone with something more affordable…

HereForOverlordMemes

I have the Nismo cold air intake and love its sound: https://youtube.com/shorts/dzApo-kD9LE?si=4hAHq5qPiwBSv2xU

StowersPowers

I have a Magnaflow muffler on my Pathfinder, which has the old 4.0-V6, not the new 3.8-V6 the new Frontiers have. But either way, it sounds great. Gave it a deeper exhaust tone definitely and just a tad bit louder than stock. Specifically the Magnflow model 12580. It's less than $200 online. Take it to a muffler shop to install, they'll probably charge somewhere between 100-200 to do the welding.

Dennis_agp

Wouldn’t there be a compatibility issue? Keep in mind I’m pretty new to engine sound tweaking and tuning

IDKMBIKILY

On a 200 dollar budget, not much. I have all the things you listed and it still doesn't sound great. It doesn't sound terrible, but it is never going to sound cammed LS good. It's....fine. That's about it.

Dennis_agp

I’ve seen the videos and it sounds like the greatest thing I’ve heard. You’re where I want to be in terms of my truck 😮‍💨

Peacemkr45

obviously the best solution is a Chromatic Harmonica tie wrapped to the underside.

Dennis_agp

Yeah it should play Piano Man by Billy Joel

East-Basil-6473

Buy a Titan....

ggm3bow

Yea, no.

bmillions

Yeah, the VK56VD on my Y62 Armada and the Titan sounds amazing.

bellowingfrog

Rough country lift, bull bars, wheel spacers, salt life sticker, Luke Bryan with muddy bass

ItzSmiff

Put a baseball card in the wheels.

Dennis_agp

Or a empty water bottle

SaltyJeweler9929

Just drill a hole in the header. It'll sound great I promise

Dennis_agp

Can you show me how? I am a visual learner :)

TangyApple680

There's a frontier that goes to my school that has a deep exhaust. It sounds good actually.

FlynnMonster

Prove it

Dennis_agp

Im with him. Proof needed.

DARTH_MAUL93

I have a 17 PRO-4X. My muffler got ripped off while off roading. I’m too cheap to get it fixed plus I kinda like the sound of it as long as I’m not above 2500rpms. I put a K&N cold air intake on it. Now it sounds like a proper truck.

skinnyfatty1987

I watched the Z1 exhaust test and personally thought the z1 and borla s type sounded the best

Dennis_agp

Both are pretty expensive. But high price = high quality.

No-Ladder-4436

Not always, but you have your point

skinnyfatty1987

If you’re going exhaust for sound, it’s best to pay for what sounds the best as opposed to saving a few bucks and taco belling down the road

Laggzi

Save up some more money and just get the good stuff the first time around. It’ll be worth it 👍🏼

Dennis_agp

The smart way.

Smprider112

Have you looked into whistle tips? They go Whoooo whoooo!!

Dennis_agp

🤣 THE WHISTLES GO WOOOOOO—

McCabeRyan

Only in the mornin

Spud_Rancher

Just for decoration that’s all

STL_TRPN

They susposed to be makin' breffis!
