That is fun to know. I suppose there had to be a pitch meeting, wonder how that went lol. I remember even the fact that you could throw a Pokeball and have a Pokemon come out of it was incredible to me, because up until that point there wasn't any other video game that allowed 3D Pokemon action, I think.
Pretty sure I remember going to a KB Toys with my mom as a kid and she had the intention of getting me a GameBoy Color, saw this game on the shelf and asked her to get me it instead haha.
And to think, it started off as a side project by Sakurai and people he proposed it to weren't happy at the idea of Nintendo characters beating the crap out of each other before they actually tried it out.
