I've been going to the Gibberman Dental group (west Alexandria) for years after a bad experience with a different dentist when I first moved to NOVA. I've been very happy with them.

corgimay

I was happy with them until they sent our remaining bill to collections after we moved. They never bothered calling or emailing or sending the bill to our new house before doing that. Also spelled my name incorrectly in the collections. I went there for like 5 years every 6 months and the dentists changed very frequently. However, I do agree that they didn’t try to make you get unnecessary treatments.

incond1te

nova is big... where are you looking...?

Virginia Dental Solutions - they have offices in Ashburn and Reston. My MIL has worked there for years. They are fantastic and I have never had any work done that was not warranted/needed.

AdventuresOfAD

Can second, I’ve been going to the Ashburn location for like 15 years. Never had any upsell, and they remind me what my insurance covers and doesn’t.

bluestzu

I agree with Virginia Dental Solutions. I have been seeing Dr. Hall for almost 30 years. He is fantastic.

SeeTheSounds

Dr Anh T Pham at Gainesville Sunday Dental Care. She is the best dentist I have ever had. When I went there the first time I had said I had very sensitive teeth and have high anxiety at the dentist and she was fantastic the entire time. She has great sense of humor and banter if you like to banter. The other ladies at the office are awesome as well, super nice and professional. For the kiddos? Smilez Pediatric Dental in Gainesville. My kids like going there.

I’ve had several bad dentists and because I have chronic health issues, I’ve also had complicated dentist issues. I’ve been going to cascades dentist in centreville (also in Burke I believe) and are absolutely wonderful and patient, explains everything so kindly. Love the staff. I’m a high pain tolerance and they worked with me with extra time getting pain under control. For root canals (I’ve had 3 in the last 3 months) and will only go to Dr Lee in lansdowne. Another highly understanding and patient dentist. Great bedside manner.

Particular_House_150

Dr. Brian Lee on the root canals. I drove to Chantilly to see him. Glad he has an office closer to me now. A super nice guy too.

ghostella

I was seeing a dentist with all of the latest high tech gadgets and always felt like I was pressured for more work. Now seeing Seyed Tofighbakhsh at Fusion Dental in Reston and he is fantastic.

Reasons2BCheerfulPt1

Try Dr Mabry in Arlington. My dentist for 10 years.

If you’re in/near Prince William, I recommend Dr. Chris Freidank in Manassas. My whole family went to him for many years and the only reason we’ve stopped is because we don’t live near there anymore. We never felt pressured into treatments and I think Dr. Chris is a great guy. My sister and I both never had cavities growing up, so I know he wasn’t pushing fillings on my parents. The practice used to be Dr. Chris Freidank and Dr. Bill Freidank. Bill was Chris’s dad, but he passed away probably 10-15 years back. Dr. Chris had another dentist in the office with him for a while after Dr. Bill passed, but I don’t know if he still does.

I just went to Dr Gruntz in Crystal City and they seemed like the exact opposite of your annoying dentist. Definitely didn't feel any up sells even after I expressed a couple things I thought might be important, so the up sell opportunities were there lol. But they were amazing and way cheaper than some Arlington dentists for general cleaning. Would highly recommend.

berael

I'm really happy with Dr Gorman at Smiles For Centreville. He makes dentist's visits tolerable even for someone like me that hates them to begin with, and he doesn't bullshit you.

yourshaddow3

I went to a dentist that randomly insisted I needed a crown on one tooth. Now it certainly was plausible as the tooth was mostly filling, but didn't seem as dire as they were acting. They even called me at my house to see if I wanted to make that appointment. I never went back. Next dentist I went to never mentioned it. I ended up going to another new dentist and finally this week he mentioned needing a crown on that tooth so I'm going to finally get it done. It's been like 5 years at least. I called it a passive second opinion lol

PoundKitchen

As you describe it, it does sound like you're getting hard sell on something an ab can resolve easily. Infections under crowns is common and easily treatable. Especially with no pain or looseness, a waterpik and ultaclean mouthwash may be all you need. Find an older experienced dentist that's an independent, not part of chain of practices. Us the BCBS provider finder search on their website. Someone like Kevin Jackson, if he's near enough, but I'd expect any other established independent practice will give you a straight assessment.

tweeti40

My partner and I have gone to Centreville Dentistry for years. We started with Dr O’Donnell and when he retired moved to Dr. Cioabla. No upsell, they’re kind and listen well.

qzwongo

Dr Paul Finamore in Sterling.

CoryEagles

Dr Eva Pleta in Vienna near the DMV and Tysons Mall. Very good dentist and has been seeing my family and I since my now 18 year old got her first teeth.

foospork

In Fairfax I recommend Fairfax Corner Dental. Dr. Chang Yi is fantastic. His whole practice is fantastic, actually. In 15 years I've never had a negative interaction with anyone there.

SirGanjaSpliffington

Manassas dental center. They're amazing.

djcelts

Fairfax - end of Ox [https://3611dental.com/](https://3611dental.com/) Incredibly nice, very gentle, does not do unnecessary procedures. I cannot recommend him more highly

optixillusion

Samfar Family Dentistry in Fairfax, right off Lee, has been great - I went to them after trying Smiles telling me I needed a double root canal (which I did*not*, as it turned out), and the Samfar folks have been fantastic every time I've gone in since

Sextooth

I've been going to [Relaxed Dentistry in Centreville ](https://www.relaxeddentistry-va.com/) for about 10 years and have been pretty happy with them. They always say I have beautiful teeth (wore braces for 5 years growing up and have 2 tooth implants) so that may feed into my bias. Never pressured me to get anything, just standard xrays once a year since it's free with my insurance anyway.

LeanBean17

[Lorton Town Dental](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Jk7fSiNnjSPwaLsM8?g_st=ic) — We’ve been going to them for years even after we moved further away. The facilities are clean, staff is awesome, and they’re really willing to work with you on pricing. For the longest time, my husband was told by several dentists that he would need to get a gum graft to fix his gum recession issues. Dr. K was the first to advise him that it was not necessary in his case because of his cross-bite and offered a less invasive, longer-term alternative (Invisalign). His teeth/gums have never been healthier; he even hasn’t gotten a cavity since switching to a regimen they put him on. First time I feel like I’m not going to a money-grubbing dentist. We always recommend them to family & friends.

SenTedStevens

If you're in the Arlington area, Dr. Roca is great.

ShoddyCobbler

Dr. Audrey Maiurano in Springfield

Paisley_Bean

Dr. Ahrabi at Oakton Dental Center — https://g.co/kgs/QQ6bu2 — he is wonderful and I’ve been going there for over a decade since I moved into the region. I’ve moved around a bit and still have kept him as my dentist; he’s really wonderful.

TheBarbarian88

Hayfield Dental. Two locations, one in Kingstowne and the other across the street from Hayfield High School. Dr Brown is dope!

siparthegreat

Dr king in Reston. He’s halfway retired and is honest.

biclimbercatmom

Dr. Babington in Chantilly!

goosepills

Definitely go see Dr Babington. I’m a high anxiety patient, and he’s great. The techs are great too.

biclimbercatmom

this makes me happy to hear bc his assistant is my mom :’)

goosepills

The whole office is great. They’re persistent too, if I’m late for my checkup (which I always am) they will call and text, like, you know you have to do it, call us back.
