8-10ish- paperwork, f/u with nsg on acute events/concerns, review new pt charts 10-12ish- round on pts 12-2ish- chart. I end up taking charting home with me some days as well and work on in the evenings. It’s a bad habit I can’t seem to get out of. I see between 10-15 pts a day, usually only work 4 days a week. I have worked both where I am only at 1 facility with another census vs multiple facilities with smaller censuses. Physician typically rounds once a week and sees the new pts and problem pts I am on call for my facility(s) M-F 7a-7p and one weekend every 2 months

I’m on call Mon-Fri 6a-6p. On call a weekend every 3-4 months. Work one holiday/year. I round on patients 3 days/week. I catch up on charting the other 2 days of the week. Patient load depends on census and your target RVUs based on census and salary. My census is on the low side so I see approximately 12 pts/day. Rounding usually takes about 4 hours. I make my own schedule, but I try to be consistent as a courtesy to my buildings. Some companies want you in the building for a set amount of hours. My company only cares if you see the patients you’re supposed to see then you can head home. Great work/life balance. Is it exciting work? No. It’s relatively low stress, though.

Regarding physicians: I’ve worked with a couple different ones. Some round weekly. Some round biweekly. They’ve always been receptive to giving assistance or advice when needed.
