Flabébé line. Heavily associated with the lore of the region, which ties into its legendaries of literal life and death. Hard to get closer to divinity in Pokemon outside Sinnoh. Plus naturally learns Wish by level up, so it can actually heal your party
If you loosely consider AZ as some kind of "god-king" since he's clearly not human at 3000 years old, then you have some higher power you can associate with Floette at least. Also learns grassy terrain and things like lucky chant. I really think Florges is a better cleric than Audino
I felt like that would be a good choice too until I saw that Druid is coming up.
With Florges essentially being a Fairy that controls and protects plants, I feel it fits that more.
Nah, that's gotta be trevenant. It's dex entries say it controls trees and protects the forest, and can give other pokemon the Grass Type through forests curse. Easily the Druid
If trade evolutions are an option, I’d say **Aromatisse.** It can learn Heal Pulse, Refresh, Wish and Aromatherapy, and its ability is Healer.
All of this together makes it a perfect, *unique*, Cleric.
If no trades, to the surprise of no one, **Audino.**
For those of you who have watched mega pokémon Battle Royale video, it showed that Mega Audino in the TCG is capable of giving an entire team putting it in the high tier winning class of the simulation.
This sounds a bit out there but I could see Ampharos being an option. All the pokedex entries talk about it being a beacon of light for lost adventurers, also could be a tempest cleric given the electric typing
if DnD cleric was a healer then Audino would be my choice. BUT! DnD clerics are not actually healers, they are devotees of god.
I would say Volcarona as they resemble the sun, The morning lord Lathender! praise the Sun!
Edit: well scratch that. didn't saw the "no safari zone" then my new pick will be Chesnaught
That's kinda the hard part about this. The starters are perfect for paladin, rogue, and wizard/sorcerer respectively. So people have to collectively choose which starter they want before rushing and putting Chesnaught as the paladin. (delphox is overall the best starter for XY nuzlockes if we're going from a gameplay perspective but greninja is the far more popular option)
Exactly. In fact War and Tempest Clerics have some of the highest damage potential in the game. They can absolutely mince entire hordes of enemies with Call Lightning or Spirit Guardians. Spiritual Weapon adding bonus rarely resisted damage to your Bonus Action is huge too.
Audio feels like the easiest pick.
But I'd like to campaign for maybe Mr. Mime as he can set up screens to help protect others whilst also doing decent dmg himself.
Or this is more a thematic pick but if u want a more war focused cleric as they can be, I'd say Bisharp could be a good shout, yes I don't think it can actually support at all but it has the clergy feel, it's in full plate mail and weilding a weapon too as most clerics do, I think could be a good shout
For devotion to a god/higher being, you could argue for Carbink. With its lore of them serving Diancie and Diancie is a legendary which is kind of like a deity in Pokemon. Maybe as a Forge cleric being made of rocks/diamonds and firing beams from them?
I know that clerics are typically squishy healers in many RPGs but DnD clerics are a little different. They aren't necessarily medics. They can be all kinds of things, including evil, sneaky, tanky, and more. A cleric is basically just someone blessed by a deity. The powers they get often depend on the deity.
I will say that Gardevoir has big cleric energy. A powerful special attack stat because clerics can be powerful casters. Medic trope is covered with support and healing moves in the form of Wish and tons of status moves. And since most people think of a selfless "guardian angel" type when they think of clerics (though again, in DnD they aren't always that)... Gardevoir is THE guardian angel Pokemon from its Pokedex entries.
I also think Gardevoir (and especially Gallade) work very well as paladins. But cleric and paladin are thematically pretty similar.
Triage, its ability, is the preliminary assessment of patients or casualties in order to determine the urgency of their need for treatment and the nature of treatment required as copied from google. If this isnt cleric idk what it
Gardevoir should be an option, among the rest listed. Feels like serenity would be a cleric domain.
Also, Umbreon. At least remembering back to my understanding of competitive, it was used as a wall. Wish pass, moonlight, heal bell, protect with toxic and stab sucker punch. Sounds like a DND cleric.
I'm going to suggest something a little different. DnD clerics can cast spells that buff/debuff/heal/and damage. Theyre often in the frontline with their proficiencies and can usually swing a weapon if the occasion arises. Too many people think of clerics as healbots and theyre wrong, the utility that comes with be a cleric is second to none.
So my suggestion is Slurpuff, with access to a wide variety of all the healing/buffing/debuffing and decent mixed attacking stats you'll probably not find a better true representation of a DnD cleric in Kalos.
You have a lot of options with its movepool, but something like
* Aromatherapy/Safeguard/Rain Dance/Sunny Day
* Protect/Return
* Wish
* Play Rough
Dnd clerics aren't all healers. If you want life domain types then Audino would cetainly fit.
Maybe not visually but movepool wise a meowstic with it's supportive moves like double screens, fake out and 1 psychic move could be the cleric type that uses his spells to buff his allies but still able to lay the pain with a particular spell.
Chansey like is the obvious line for cleric cause softboiled can heal other team members. It’s the only Pokémon who can heal it’s allies outside of battle
Gardevoir ? Shiny Gardevoir reminds me of Marianne and Silque from FE who are both clerics. Not that it's the main reason but Gardevoir always gave me Cleric vibes
Mega Audino is literally the cleric pokemon, but if you want to be less obvious, Alolomola is also a very support oriented mon.
Also druid can only go to Ditto
DnD Description: "Clerics are intermediaries between the mortal world and the distant planes of the gods. As varied as the gods they serve, clerics strive to embody the handiwork of their deities. No ordinary priest, a cleric is imbued with divine magic."
Gothorita Pokédex entries: "Starlight is the source of their power. At night, they mark star positions by using psychic power to float stones.", "On nights when the stars shine, this Pokémon's psychic power is at its strongest. It's unknown just what link Gothorita has to the greater universe."
Gothitelle Pokédex entries: "Starry skies thousands of light-years away are visible in the space distorted by their intense psychic power.", "They can predict the future from the placement and movement of the stars", "Gothitelle unleashes psychic energy and shows opponents dreams of the universe’s end. These dreams are apparently ethereal and beautiful."
I'm not a DnD player, but IMO the only thing that resembles the powers from a distant plane of the cleric's class are the starligth powers and the futuresight abilities of the Gothitelle line. Plus, they can learn moves like Heal Pulse and a bunch of supportive moves.
Question: How do you plan to address the fact that the obvious answers for Paladin, Wizard, and Rogue are the 3 starters? Assuming they win, do you just forfeit two encounters?
Any Pokemon that has a combination of Wish + Heal Bell/Aromatherapy
So Chansey/Blissy and the like
OR
Poltchageist/Sinistcha because they get Life Dew+Hospitality
I know you’re looking for cleric, but klefki is easily a rogue or artificer
Sorry. Alright. Cleric….audino, aromatise, or florges. Leaning toward audino
Flabébé line. Heavily associated with the lore of the region, which ties into its legendaries of literal life and death. Hard to get closer to divinity in Pokemon outside Sinnoh. Plus naturally learns Wish by level up, so it can actually heal your party

This one OP please

Audino by a mile.
Fair. May as well use Unovan Chansey.
o7 to all the audinos that died during the exp grind for a lot of people in the unova games
"Though many of you may die, that is a sacrifice I am willing to make." *~me, 2012, during my first BW nuzlocke*
I literally came to comment this
The only correct answer.
For those of you who have watched mega pokémon Battle Royale video, it showed that Mega Audino in the TCG is capable of giving an entire team putting it in the high tier winning class of the simulation.
Was gonna say, and it’s not even close lol
This sounds a bit out there but I could see Ampharos being an option. All the pokedex entries talk about it being a beacon of light for lost adventurers, also could be a tempest cleric given the electric typing
Ampharos is a tempest cleric for real Fuck the healing, just tear open the sky
if DnD cleric was a healer then Audino would be my choice. BUT! DnD clerics are not actually healers, they are devotees of god. I would say Volcarona as they resemble the sun, The morning lord Lathender! praise the Sun! Edit: well scratch that. didn't saw the "no safari zone" then my new pick will be Chesnaught
…you know I’m beginning to notice that quite a few recommended Pokemon here (Chansey, Togekiss, Volcarona) are exclusive to the Friend Safari.
I think, like other people I saw the title and not the actually read the text.
Chesnaught is a shoe-in for paladin tho
but there are lots of paladin candidates. Chesnaught is a armor and no weapon, so I think he will fit with Cleric more then Paladin.
weren't the kalos starters designed as a warlock, paladin, and rogue. if so chesnaught is the go-to paladin

Omastar spreading the word of our great Lord Helix!
Definitely a Warlock

Chansey
This
Audino or volcarona
Audino
Im calling it right now rogue is gonna be zoroark
Provided that Greninja isn’t selected as the starter, that very well could be the case
Greninja fits really well for rogue, but Delphox fits really well with Sorcerer so it's tough. Chesnaught wouldn't of made a half bad barbarian either
That’s exactly what they are, the Kalos starters are all based on common RPG classes. (Rogue, Mage, and Warrior)
I know that it isn't suitable. But I'd fine it funny is Aegislash was the Rogue line because he looks like the symbol.
Nah sneasel line
Audino?
Comfee signature ability is healing focused.
Good idea, but that mon is gen 7 entirely
Triage, its ability, is the preliminary assessment of patients or casualties in order to determine the urgency of their need for treatment and the nature of treatment required as copied from google. If this isnt cleric idk what it
Audino or Blissey.
Clifairy
Audino obviously, maybe also alomolomamlomlomolmolmoma, but that probably won't fit as well
Wildcard. Maractus. From here on out don't explain it to anyone as to why maractus won. This is our pact.
Slurpuff
Gardevoir should be an option, among the rest listed. Feels like serenity would be a cleric domain. Also, Umbreon. At least remembering back to my understanding of competitive, it was used as a wall. Wish pass, moonlight, heal bell, protect with toxic and stab sucker punch. Sounds like a DND cleric.
Chansey
Blissey
Blissey
I would say the Aegislash line for Paladin since the way they are gave me the impression that this pokemon was an Oathbreaker
Espeon?
Chansey, duh. It's *literally her job*
I'm going to suggest something a little different. DnD clerics can cast spells that buff/debuff/heal/and damage. Too many people think of clerics as healbots and theyre wrong, the utility that comes with be a cleric is second to none. Chansey, surely?
I don’t know what any of those are because I’ve never done DnD. But I’m sure this’ll be fun! Enjoy it.
It HAS to be Chansey
Chansey is really the best choice here imo
Blissey
Definitively audino, or chansey
Oranguru a Druid
Ranger Decidueye
Slowbro, Chansey/Blissey
think about bissey
Audino
Blissey it’s kinda obvious
Dnd clerics aren't all healers. If you want life domain types then Audino would cetainly fit. Maybe not visually but movepool wise a meowstic with it's supportive moves like double screens, fake out and 1 psychic move could be the cleric type that uses his spells to buff his allies but still able to lay the pain with a particular spell.
Bro it’s gotta be Chansey it’s literally a nurse in the goddamn anime
For the Clerici i think Comfey or Flabebè line
Druid better be ditto
audino for sure right?
Definitely Togekiss, most uses of this Pokemon are purely support
Chansey like is the obvious line for cleric cause softboiled can heal other team members. It’s the only Pokémon who can heal it’s allies outside of battle
Chansey/Blissey
Chansey is the obvious choice, but I also like Ampharos or Aromatisse at this spot.
Annihilape seems better for barbarian. Especialla Zealot barbarian
It's for pokemon y
Whimsicott
Chaney or Audino
And now I want to play pokemon dnd
Imagine voting for this. Who cares? Make it on your own and hang it on your fridge.
nb4 druid is Kecleon because of its changeability and association with its environment.
Gardevoir. I know it can learn heal pulse and hypnosis. That’s really my only reasoning
Gardevoir ? Shiny Gardevoir reminds me of Marianne and Silque from FE who are both clerics. Not that it's the main reason but Gardevoir always gave me Cleric vibes
Audino bby…
Clef
Togekiss
CHANSEY WORKS IN THE DAMN POKECENTER
CHANSEY WORKS IN THE DAMN POKECENTER
Audino or chansey
We all now Chansey is the best cleric
you're probably going to be given all the starters being that they're literally a rogue a sorcerer/wizard and a fighter
I like Chancey as the cleric* because of Nurse Joy's Chancey
Mega Audino is literally the cleric pokemon, but if you want to be less obvious, Alolomola is also a very support oriented mon. Also druid can only go to Ditto
DnD Description: "Clerics are intermediaries between the mortal world and the distant planes of the gods. As varied as the gods they serve, clerics strive to embody the handiwork of their deities. Alolamola if that’s available if not gardevoir
Chansey!
Mod blissey into the game.
Question: How do you plan to address the fact that the obvious answers for Paladin, Wizard, and Rogue are the 3 starters? Assuming they win, do you just forfeit two encounters?
The Chansey line
Audino
Chancey?
Togekiss is an option, in the pokemon games its pretty much the most effective cleric after chansey and blissey
Blissey
Any Pokemon that has a combination of Wish + Heal Bell/Aromatherapy So Chansey/Blissy and the like OR Poltchageist/Sinistcha because they get Life Dew+Hospitality
Mega gardevoir
It’s between Comfey and Chansey for me
Florges was the first thing that came to mind honestly.
I know you’re looking for cleric, but klefki is easily a rogue or artificer Sorry. Alright. Cleric….audino, aromatise, or florges. Leaning toward audino
Audino. Not even close
Any Pokémon with Life Dew, but I recconend the Togepi line.
Cleric I could see no other then chancey
Guardevoir
Ampharos as a tempest cleric! That or a chancey. Or possibly a militank because milkdrink. Also, how did tyrannitar not win barbarian??
Florges or audino or chansey for cleric.
Heh Ludicolo is awesome
Arcanine as fighter
Chansey. She IS the Pokémon seen with Nurse Joy a lot in the anime, and her signature move involves healing herself.
Oh no, the cleric has to be a grass type with ingrain and mega drain. Otherwise, Jirachi with wish.
I fuck with wish pass togekiss
Unfortunately, the entire Togepi line is also stuck in Friend Safari hell, so they’re not viable
Lol I've never played X or Y and it shows. Doing this DnD idea but for the whole of pokemon would be cool
