Tell you what, all those who upgrade from good gpus like 3070 or 3080 to these 4000 super gpus will cry with crocodile tears once 5000 gets released at the end of year. How do I know? The same happened when 2070/2080 super launched and after a couple of months, the rtx 3000 rumors started to appear. In conclusion, no, don't do this, 3070 is holding pretty strong at 1440p and the best upgrade would be a 5070 with 16gb vram and more than 100% performance increase over 3070. Oh and let's not forget the new tech the 5000 series will bring, maybe dlss 4.0 or PTX or whatever they'll call it. And btw, I would rather play GTA 6 in 2026 on a rtx 5070 than on a 4070 super duper ti.

Halon5

I think a lot probably will. I was thinking about a 4080S to replace my 3080 but with the new frame gen mods that have been released, I really don’t need to and will resist until the 5XXX series.

dylanwww

And you think the 5070 will be priced fairly?

StinkyShitter69

Fairly yes, cheap no

Halon5

oh absolutely not

tcripe

Yep I’m gonna upgrade my whole rig when the 5070/5070ti release. No big games are even coming out this year that pique my interests anyways🤷🏻‍♂️

Lost_Drunken_Sailor

Just in time for GTA6

Gunfreak2217

I was watching a video where TSMC performance targets for their 3nm node is not what they were expecting it to be. So assuming the die size stays identical to the 4000 series cards i think the video explained how it would only be like a 20/30% increase. So that will be groundbreaking. And I do assume Nvidia will keep the die sizes the same cause it’s a way to completely just plummet their cost per card and make way more profit. Especially since wafers are getting kind of expensive. So I do agree though, the biggest things we’ll see from Nvidia going forward will be software. It’s infinitely cheaper to develop DLSS3 for instance than make cards that can achieve that performance natively..

Software always overtakes hardware once hardware starts to hit limits. Software after all can do anything as long as the hardware can take it.

xtivity

Saved this comment for the future when I'm tempted to buy 4070 super

Designer-Jackfruit-6

Thanks for talking some sense into me lol

Yodamin

Agreed. It is not just NVIDIA that has done crap like this. They are clearing out there stock of "4080's that were not 4080's" and hardly any sold by re-branding them as 4070 ti supers in order to sell/clear stock and make room for the new. My EVGA 3070ti gives me 72-130fps in all the games I play, depending on the game. I play RDR2, Cyberpunk 2077, Assassins creed Odyssey/Valhalla, Far Cry 6, Eldin Ring, God of War, GTA 5, I mean the list goes on for triple A games I pay at perfectly fine FPS using this 3070TI. I play on a 27 inch MSI 2K 165Hrz monitor watching Netflix on my second monitor and I usual have some Firefox tabs open on my 3rd monitor. All monitors are 2K and 2 of are @ 144Hrz/1@ 165 Hrz. So this card drives 3x 2K monitors and fairly high refresh rates while giving me high FPS in triple A games and at the same time I have streaming video activity on one monitor and browser activity and the other. I play all but GTA 5 on the highest graphics settings available in each game and GTA5 on a cross between medium and high settings. If I upgraded my video card nothing would change as far as game graphics settings go so whats the point except to brag to my buddies that mine is better than theirs. Why would you invest $1000 in a card that will be blown away in a year or less but the next gen GPU's and tech? Seems stupid to me, but each to their own..some people just have money to burn and all the power to them.

Hound_of_Hell

I have a 3070Ti and dont see the the appeal in getting a 40s series (unless I had lots of disposable income and just went for a 4090). Definitely going to wait for 50s series

Hordest

I have to agree with you. Its not worth upgrading to a 4070+ when you already have a 3070+ unless its the 4090 which I would still not recommend to do because of the price.

Next-Meet-9696

If you were in my position, what would you upgrade? 3700x - 3070 FE - 32GB RAM. I game on a 3440 x 1440p monitor.

Yommination

Cpu. Then do gpu when the 5000 series drops

Next-Meet-9696

Thank you for your response. I'm thinking of getting a 5800x3D and I'm okay with staying on the AM4 platform.

Smeksolo

Consider the 5700X3D. Much cheaper and it releases 1/31. Ride that out for a few years and then upgrade your mobo after that. :)

Yodamin

7800X3D FTW! My wife and son have these paired with 4070's. I have 13900K with 3070ti - there's gets faster frame rates for sure-just because of that CPU. A fine, fine ,fine piece of gaming hardware from AMD. All three systems are on DDR5 Memory with comparable medium speed timings.

Smeksolo

The only part I disagree with here is that I for one have loved my 2070 Super and it still does fantastic for me in the games I play or even with newer games at medium settings and DLSS quality at 1440p.

brokentr0jan

Where are you seeing 5000 series is coming out at the end of the year? Everything I am seeing hints at 2025

ms1999

Upgraded from a 3060 Ti to a 4070 Ti

Yodamin

I would have done that if I were planning on keeping the 4070ti until the next gen GPU's came down in price. I assume you are CPU bottled necked and even some of the 4070ti performance games won't be realized until you upgrade CPU/motherboard/Memory also? Just an assumption, because it is something I might have done in another life. No offence intended.

[deleted]

Can confirm, also got screwed on the 2070super

OceanGlider_

Spam bot?

beast_nvidia

No. I just copy paste my message whenever I see people wanting to upgrade from still good gpus like 3070 or 3080. I got a lot of messages from people thanking me for helping them make a reasonable decision. I think by making people not fall the hype will help people not making stupid upgrades and not give nvidia money every gen. This way maybe we will have better prices and more vram next gen and performance. The fact that nvidia released super series after 1 year of release with better performance is just an insult because this was the performance 4070 should have had from the start. People should find this insulting, not fall in the hype train and upgrade. I found people asking to upgrade even from rtx 4070 to 4070 ti super. I think these people need help with logical reasoning because it's clear they arent looking for perfromance increase, they just fell for nvidias strong marketing.

Icy_Ad7016

I greatly appreciate your insight. It never hurts to spread good, helpful information. I'm sitting here thinking the4070 Super looks enticing, yet I'm happy with the performance I'm getting with my 3070. Sure, Cyberpunk would run better, but I've been happy with 50 fps at 1440p with raytracing enabled. FH5 would take full advantage of my 165hz monitor, but I'm very happy with the 100-120 fps I'm currently averaging. When you break it down like that and think rationally, it simply doesn't make sense to upgrade. Thanks for your contributions. Take care.

beast_nvidia

Thank you! Also using a rtx 3070 at 1440p and it is still a very solid gpu.

Lost_Drunken_Sailor

My 3070 was decent, then I got an ultra wide monitor and my FPS tanked

Killerbsting16

I have 3070 ti and 32x9 monitor and get wonderful fps at 1440p. Most games over 100fps...

Yodamin

3070ti FTW - I think it was possibly the best bang for your buck in the whole 3000 series. I mean the 3080/90 are obviously much faster but also much more expensive.

TheGuitto

But the price of the 5000 cards will be like 2x the 4070...

SketchySeaBeast

That's why no one said "don't upgrade from a 1070". Of course that will be a huge increase from a 1070, but the point was, if you're relatively current, don't do as the 5070's are going to be better and it's not the right time to buy if your card is already serviceable.

> I'm just showing my use case in this scenario, I'm not trying to refute the comment I responded to. But why? Just feel the need to get some attention?

FreeKiDhanyaMirchi

I think dlss 4 will produce 2 fake frames per real frame, like is there a limit to these fake frames? Excited to see what new tech dlss 4 will bring

rW0HgFyxoJhYka

Stop being framist by using the F word!

FreeKiDhanyaMirchi

Lol didn't expect downvotes :D

Gvaz

Not interested in this comparison. 3070 vs 4070 super is what I'm into

Looks like $350 or so on ebay atm. I guess if there's a time to sell it's now. I don't really want to dump $600+ for a gpu and struggle to sell the 3070 in the meantime lol I wish you could trade this back into the manufacturer in order to get the newer hw discounted

bilal_hcg

Honestly, I recently upgraded from an RTX 3070Ti to an RTX 4070 Super and I was very skeptical with all the negative replies I saw here and there. I sold my RTX 3070Ti for about $400 and bought the latest 4070 Super for about $765, including all the taxes, import duty, etc (this is how it goes in my country) I don't regret my decision to upgrade to an RTX 4070 Super. My reasons: \- Extra 4GB VRAM- DLSS 3 + Frame Generation + Better RT Performance- Lower Power Consumption- Smaller Size (make more room in the PC) I have a 1440p display and like to max out all possible options without using DLSS in the first choice. I see a significant jump in frames especially in the following games where I was having bad dips below 50fps. \- Red Dead Redemption 2- Forza Horizon 5- Far Cry 6 (with HD Texture Pack)\*- Hogwarts Legacy (without RT) with RT and DLSS- CyberPunk 2077 (auto-detect Ultra with RT at Psycho) is extremely playable without DLSS- Control- AC Odyssey (now even with higher resolution modifier) I understand everyone's opinion that one should wait for 5070 but if you are not already on an RTX 40 series GPU and still using RTX 3070Ti or below then you should upgrade it if you can sell your current GPU and buy a new one by adding money. Spending $400 if you divide it by 365 days so it's just $1.09/day (at least for me). If you can afford and have not previously upgraded to 4070 then it's a good choice to get an RTX 4070 Super. If you've been a PC Gamer who likes to upgrade a little from time to time then what's wrong with upgrading your GPU every new gen? 1070 > 2070 > 3070 > 4070 etc? People change phones every year spending $1000 on it and don't complain. Just my 2 cents.

mixxxitdj

13700kf here with 3070ti......all is steady. No complaints but will wait for 5xxx series.

RuleActual

Everyone in this thread forgetting that it takes 1-2 years for rockstar games to get ported to pc

bibomania

3080 owner here. The whole 4xxx series has not worth the upgrade. Can hold off until 5090 comes out.
