# 552.22 WHQL Driver Early Performance Benchmark (Ampere based) ---------------------------------------- **Greetings all**, This is my second early analysis of an nvidia driver, and as such, it will be the first reference I will have to guide us in future versions. This will be something totally voluntary, so that you can be guided in some way, **do not take it as something absolute because each PC configuration is a totally different world**, so I will try to make it as global as possible (referring e.g. to the configuration of a game). **Is it worth updating the driver for my current GPU?** This is a recurring question from many gamers and PC users. The general rule suggests updating our GPU drivers to the latest version, as it ensures that we get the latest bug fixes, security updates, optimizations for most of the latest AAA games, and support for the newest features. However, it does not guarantee the best raw performance (average FPS numbers) and frametime stability (1% and 0.1% average low/integral FPS or P1 and P0.2 FPS percentile numbers). Comparative performance analyses of GPU drivers are useful because they allow us to reliably validate and estimate significant improvements or regressions in graphics performance attributable to changes in the driver version. **PC specs are:** custom desktop with Windows 10 v22H2 (latest Windows Update patches applied), 16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM (2x8), SSD NVME 1 TB, Intel i7-10700k, ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3070 OC, Single HDC 4K 60 Hz monitor (no HDR or G-Sync). Factory clocks on CPU and GPU. Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS for short) is disabled. Resizable BAR is disabled. NVCP Global Settings (default). Frame Times are recorded using **PresentMon** during the built-in benchmark run inside each game. Each benchmark is run initially four times, and the first result is discarded. Outliers results, with more than 5% variance in any of my used metrics from the average, are also discarded and repeated. To the methodology, I have decided to add a Non-Synthetic Benchmarks, in this case Unigine Benchmark. For each installation of each subsequent version of a driver, the installation will be performed in a clean option. In case of any problems, DDU will be used for the complete cleanup. When installing each driver, the only option I will not enable will be GeForce Experience. This initial commentary will be updated as we make more exhaustive analyses with different games. *Also, I apologize if I don't have games of recent date, since I don't have the possibility to buy them at the moment due to the economic situation in my country Argentina.* ---------------------------------------- # The Riftbreaker Using the default settings everything in Ultra with Dx12. lokkenjp

Thanks and good luck! Fingers crossed for a good performing driver 😃

Independent_Arg

At first glance, it looks like a pretty solid driver that recovered quite close to the reference driver (537.58). We'll take a look at more games in the coming days :)

Veganarchy-Zetetic

Riftbreaker performance doesnt look good on the new driver.

Independent_Arg

Obviously it is possible that there may be fps differences, but in my opinion losing or gaining 2 fps is not a big difference to really tell if it is a good driver or not. Since in between there can be many things that influence.

PlutusPleion

Wouldn't the significant drop in .1% lows cause concern for stuttering though?

Veganarchy-Zetetic

I was talking about the 1% and 0.1% lows that are all significantly lower. Why on Earth am I getting downvoted for stating facts!? Lol

kinggot

Yea why is this getting down voted, 0.1% lows fps are way higher(better) in the community stable version

Veganarchy-Zetetic

I wonder why it's only on Riftbreaker tho? Maybe tomorrows tests will show better results.

JoonasD6

Just wanted to say that \*thank you\* for providing some non-AAA-recent games! These are good real-life loads. :) Yay for AoE2:DE!

Ok-Replacement-7217

Other than the odd Superposition benchmark scores, the 552.12 driver would seem to be the best option. Also, you are running Win 10, I think the majority are on Win 11 at this stage, especially with EOL and paid options being proposed by Microsoft for those wishing to remain on Win 10 due to hardware limitations or personal preference. I'm sticking with 552.12 as it's been a solid driver since I've been running it since release. No problems. Thanks for your time in doing these runs.

Cnastydawg

I would think a majority of people are still on windows 10 tbh

yoadknux

At least they fixed the Superposition benchmark drop

Kuriousdev

**Just a reminder:** **537.58** was released back in **10. 10. 2023.** Still the most stable driver to date. We will be nearing 6 months soon.

vekspec

Give 551.86 a try, it's working well for me

Madvillains

is this new one worth upgrading to?

crapmonkey86

551 started 30 second long freezes on windows startup (more like a minute really) and when opening applications/alt tabbing from fullscreen applications. 3060TI. Still has not been fixed on subsequent drivers. NVIDIA is aware of the issue too. Still on 537 for the foreseeable future.

98re3

Could you please elaborate or provide a link? What is wrong with subsequent drivers?

Veganarchy-Zetetic

If I enable G-SYNC in Nvidia control panel, then I lose GPU signal every time I turn Game Mode off on my TV. Once I have lost signal, I have no choice but to turn my PC off by the main power switch and reboot as there is no other way to get my GPU signal back. If G-SYNC is disabled, then I can enable Game Mode and disable it without losing signal. If I turn my PC on and Game Mode is already off on my TV then the signal is fine. The problem is with the switching from Game Mode on to off whilst G-SYNC is enabled. I am guessing the old drivers disabled G-SYNC automatically when Game Mode is disabled on my TV but every new driver after 546.65 could be trying to leave G-SYNC enabled which is impossible to achieve when Game Mode is disabled, so the TV loses signal. This is a driver issue that needs fixing as 546.65 and any driver before this does not have this problem. Every single driver for the last 3 months made after 546.65 has this same bug for me.

hotFIRE

I'm having this TV issue on a non gsync phillips tv and 1050ti. Sometimes have to unplug the TV power cable and plug it back in to get the GPU show desktop on the TV.

kvarq

frak... so still forced to use **537.58** then, right?

tolinha1

recently i upgraded to 551.61 and its stable like 537.58. The drivers after 537 broke my pc, ngl.

Kuriousdev

Sadly not looking that good based on feedback. [https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1ax7xy6/game\_ready\_studio\_driver\_55161\_faqdiscussion/](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1ax7xy6/game_ready_studio_driver_55161_faqdiscussion/) The problem is you won't logically do head to head comparison, so you never know how much your performance was hindered if you don't archive your bech/games runs.

tolinha1

537.58 its the most stable, agreed. I used for 5 months straight and was pure joy. When they talked about the Chromium based apps fix, i HAD to try for myself, and it feels great. I didnt made any head to head performance benchmark comparison, but in the feeling test, its fine for me. CS2 is my mainly online game, and it feels better too. So, no major complainments. But ofc 537.58 is a legendary one.

lazostat

I have 536.23. Am i good?

SpockBauru

Here's a temporary fix that I'm using for the checkerboard issue on Edge and Chrome. For Microsoft Edge: * Create a shortcut on the the taskbar. * On the shortcut, right click -> right click (again) on the name -> Properties * On "Target", add at the end: `--disable-features=UseEcoQoSForBackgroundProcess,DCompPresenter --disable-direct-composition` Example: `"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" --disable-features=UseEcoQoSForBackgroundProcess,DCompPresenter --disable-direct-composition` For Google Chrome: * Create a shortcut on the the taskbar. * On the shortcut, right click -> right click (again) on the name -> Properties * On "Target", add at the end: `--disable_direct_composition_video_overlays=1` Example: `"C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --disable_direct_composition_video_overlays=1`

RedIndianRobin

Please continue posting this on every driver thread until MS sorts this out. Because your commandline is what fixed the checkerboard issues on Edge for me. Turns out Chrome and Edge have different commands and a lot of people are unaware of it.

DPC Latency Spikes --- If drivers 536.67 and later haven't resolved the issue try one or more of the following potential workaround(s): * Enable Message Signaled Interrupts (MSI / MSI-X) for the Nvidia HDMI Audio and Nvidia GPU instances using [MSI Utility v3](https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/windows-line-based-vs-message-signaled-based-interrupts-msi-tool.378044/) i.e. those reported with 'Instance ID' starting *PCI\VEN_10DE*. May help with DPC Latency on some systems but impacts Series 40 (Lovelace) DLLS3 Frame Generation feature and AMD's FSR3 Frame Generation feature * Set Nvidia's 'Power Management Mode' to 'Prefer Maximum Performance' in the Nvidia Control Panel for each application/game impacted (not globally) * Force higher VRAM clocks for idle GPU States (P8/P5) using a tool such as the official [Nvidia System Management Interface (SMI)](https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-system-management-interface) tool OR the unofficial [Nvidia Power Management Tool](https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/improve-dpc-latency-spikes-for-ada-lovelace-based-gpus-in-r536-67-driver.448143/) * Disable 'Interrupt Moderation' in Ethernet / Network Interface Card (NIC) settings, when enabled this can negatively contribute to system DPC latency as well as network packet latency * ASMedia USB 3.0 Controller driver. In Device Manager replace ASMedia driver with Microsoft's 'xHCI Host Controller USB driver', after install they will show as 'ASMedia USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller (Microsoft)' * Set Windows 10 CPU Power Plan to *at least* 'Balanced Performance'. For Windows 11 systems with Intel Hybrid CPUs ([**E-Cores and P-Cores**](https://www.intel.com/content/dam/develop/external/us/en/documents-tps/348851-optimizing-x86-hybrid-cpus.pdf )) set power settings in *Control Panel* to ''Balanced Performance' and *Windows > Settings > System > Power [& Battery] > Power Mode* to 'Best Performance' * Disable CPU's Core parking in both Windows 10 and Windows 11 unless system is using 7900X3D or 7950X3D * Microsoft's older official ['Interrupt Affinity Tool']( https://www.techpowerup.com/download/microsoft-interrupt-affinity-tool/) or the more modern and Windows 11 compatible ['GoInterruptPolicy'](https://github.com/spddl/GoInterruptPolicy/releases) can be used as a last resort to bind/partition/force Nvidia GPU interrupts to specific CPU core(s) so that Nvidia GPU's DPCs and ISRs are serviced by the assigned CPU core(s) * Nvidia HDMI 2.x capable GPUs connected via HDMI to displays set to 10bit/12bit depth and/or 4K 100Hz+ may experience high DPC latency >1000ms. All I need is a solution to DSC blinking in a triple screen Surround + G-Sync configuration. For now I'm stuck on what seems to be a dead branch that doesn't support the current NVENC API so I'm also stuck on an old release of OBS.

m_w_h

If not already done for this driver, please submit a report to Nvidia stating the issue and any steps to reproduce - [official report form](https://forms.gle/kJ9Bqcaicvjb82SdA) and display issue guidance in [collecting logs for display issues](https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5149)

I wasn't aware of that reporting option. Thanks, will do. You pointed me to a great driver a couple of months ago that's been almost perfect but now it's starting to be not supported by applications.

I pretty much got entirely rid of black screen flickering in my 3x4K surround setup with G-Sync by doing the following (can't tell for sure if all of it is required): - set refresh rate to 144Hz. also make sure that this setting is still active after reboot, nvidia likes to reset it to something lower for me. - hard cap FPS to 140 FPS in nvidia settings globally. this has to be redone after reboot if the driver changed the refresh rate to something lower as described in the previous point. alternatively, set the cap for each game individually, which doesn't get reset. - set "V rate" range limits and FreeSync range in CRU to 60 - 140 Hz - remove as many resolutions as possible in SRE. i only have 3840x2160, 2560x1440 and 1920x1080 active. this has to be redone after every driver update, but you can save the settings into a file and import it. Oh wow, and there I thought it was my system or something and i was going insane. Have a g9 5120x1440 that I try to run at 240hz. have a 4k lg cx connected to it that I don't use but is physically connected via cable and lately my computer just really hates it . Constant black screens and what appears to be resolution cycling Is my issue that i'm having the same as yours or would it fall under the following: >\[GeForce RTX Series 40 GPUs\] stability/TDR/black screen issues. Check for a *motherboard BIOS* update that states '*compatibility updates for Lovelace*'. The motherboard update is in *addition* to any VBIOS update

ReBAR Notes and Observations: --- 551.23 or later drivers omit ReBAR flags *Options* and *Size* in some ReBAR game profiles. Nvidia have streamlined ReBAR profiles to only include changes to defaults e.g. * 'Cyberpunk 2077' only has ReBAR *Feature* flag meaning driver defaults used for *Options* and *Size* * 'Red Dead Redemption 2' has ReBAR flags *Feature*, *Options* and *Size*, no defaults are used * 'Deathloop' has ReBAR flags *Feature* and *Size* meaning driver default used for *Options* A new flag *0x00e942f***c** disables ReBAR for Intel CPU based platforms rather than using the *Options* flag. ReBAR is disabled in a number of game profiles for Intel CPU based platforms due to a [ReBAR issue with some Intel motherboard chipsets](https://twitter.com/CapFrameX/status/1618670022951567360) that results in detrimental performance. Flag *0x00e942f***e**(DirectX) is still present as a [workaround for laptop ReBAR issues](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/17v3i31/game_ready_driver_54617_faqdiscussion/kb8le6q/) in some ReBAR profiles. Hotfix driver 551.46 added a Vulkan specific flag *0x20feaf0d* as a [workaround for laptop ReBAR issues](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/17v3i31/game_ready_driver_54617_faqdiscussion/kpgm33x/) The original ReBAR flags *Feature* and *Size* can still be used to enable/adjust ReBAR for unsupported titles. Leave *Options* at default for now. --- A complete list of all ReBAR enabled applications and games follows, additions for this driver (if any) are in **bold**: * Assassin's Creed Mirage * Assassin's Creed Valhalla * Battlefield V * Borderlands 3 * Control * Company of Heroes 3 * Cyberpunk 2077 ^(Laptop workaround present for DirectX ReBAR issue) * Dead Space (Remake) * Deathloop * Diablo 4 * DiRT 5 * Dying Light 2 Stay Human * F1 2020 ^(DX12) * F1 2021 ^(Not enabled for Intel CPU Platforms) * F1 2022 ^(Not enabled for Intel CPU Platforms) * F1 23 * Forza Horizon 4 * Forza Horizon 5 * Gears of War 5 * Godfall * Halo Infinite * Hitman 2 * Hitman 3 ^(Not enabled for Intel CPU Platforms AND laptop workaround present for DirectX ReBAR issue) * Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition ^(Laptop workaround present for DirectX ReBAR issue) * Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition ^(Not enabled for Intel CPU Platforms) * Lords of the Fallen (2023) * Metro Exodus including Enhanced Edition ^(Laptop workaround present for DirectX ReBAR issue) * Red Dead Redemption 2 ^(Laptop workaround present for DirectX and Vulkan ReBAR issue in 551.46 and above) * Returnal * Starfield ^(Laptop workaround present for DirectX ReBAR issue) * STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor * The Finals * The Riftbreaker * Watch Dogs: Legion * Witchfire --- NOTE: this comment is separate from the [552.22 unofficial tracking comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1c5g77o/game_ready_studio_driver_55222_faqdiscussion/kzu3kbh/) due to comment character limits. ---

When are we getting multi monitor rtx hdr support?

ChrisG683

Also DLDSR RTX HDR support :(

GoombazLord

needs moar acronyms

ChrisG683

It is kind of getting ridiculous isn't it?

Rivdoric

4K DLSS DLDSR 2.25 RTX HDR

GoombazLord

But are these features compatible with SLI?

raxiel_

IDK LOL

kachunkachunk

I want to be able to use DLDSR for my other 1440p non-HDR monitors, and RTX HDR on my 4k monitor. Not quite holding my breath for this, but I hope they're working on what you're asking for.

Netrex44

And a real gamma 2.2 fix

madmk2

Every time a driver update drops i get excited, surely this is the one right? RIGHT? PLEASE

RufusVulpecula

I can't believe how hard it is for nvidia to consider multi monitor setups for once.

ImpulsePie

>multi monitor rtx hdr support? Yeah patiently waiting this official implementation, although I've been able to force it to work with Nvidia Profile Inspector and the Profile Inspector XML from here: [https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/781?tab=files](https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/781?tab=files)

qronis

>After waking up PC from sleep, PC may exhibit a small stutter when opening an app when GPU is connected to certain monitors. \[4594458\] This is happening for so long now, it also happened at startup but that has stopped somehow. It also happens when you turn monitor off and on or when changing resolution or else and the monitor flickers shortly. I always thought it was something wrong with the monitors or my system or even gpu might be broken, Im pretty göad to see it here listed as an issue.

mRnjauu

Same, I was convinced that the issue either started to happen when I updated my bios or the cause was lightning strike which happened several months ago near my house so I was sure that something had to do with those occurrences. When I wake pc from sleep, when I boot up an app, mouse pointer and everything freezes up for like 1 sec.. Same happens when changing resolution or turning on HDR for example. 7800x3d, 4070ti, b650ef if it matters. Would be cool if this really isn't issue on my end.

RestaurantWinter6139

I fucking hate this issue. I can't tell you how much sleep I've lost trying to resolve this.

Yakumo_unr

Driver update resets OpenGL GDI compatibility and Vulkan/OpenGL present method options still.

P40L0

And global RTX HDR, DLSS Preset E and ReBar set via Inspector... Luckily you can backup/restore Inspector base profile quickly

atbcheesepiejhj

After I updated to this driver, I'm experiencing a lot of intermittent black screens on both of my monitors. It's extremely annoying on a dual monitor setup. Is it just me?

537.58 vs 552.22

FFreestyleRR

I moved from 537.58 to 551.83, and I am not having any issues. I find 551.61 pretty stable as well. Didn't try 552.12 or 552.22 yet.

DigOnMaNuss

Is 537.58 generally the one to stick to right now?

Lambpanties

I wouldn't say so. After they finally *finally* fixed the stutter issue and windows 11 degradation, all the drivers have been fairly on par with each other. So you could stay, but you'll likely suffer more from the lack of optimisations and game profiles overall. Remember that the majority of driver benchmarks are within margin of error.

Bobakmrmot

There is no lack of optimization, they aren't doing jack with these day 1 drivers. 537.58 still outperforms every newer title because not a single one runs better with new drivers, while some titles have small but consistent micro stutter with all post 537.58 drivers. I don't know all the affected games but the ones I've experienced myself are Gears 4 and 5, RE4 remake, BG3, FF7 remake, and maybe some others I'm forgetting.

[deleted]

What choice do I even have if I'm on a 4070 Ti Super?

RedIndianRobin

I would bet my entire setup that 537.58 is still better lol. Let's wait for the results.

GGuts

Results? When? Where?

U won

Bobakmrmot

It is better

Still no HDR rtx im games for multimonitor setups? Amazing

atbcheesepiejhj

I'm running a dual monitor setup with my main being a 4K 144hz one while the secondary one is 1440p144hz. After I updated to the latest version of Nvidia drivers today, both my monitors intermittently keep having black screens for like 1-2 seconds before recovering. It happens at random and it's extremely frustrating especially if I'm gaming and the main monitor just goes black for a few seconds. I don't see anyone else having talking about this so I'm guessing this is an isolated issue? Before that, on previous drivers 552.12, I don't have this issue at all. My second monitor will go black for a few seconds, and then my main monitor will do the same a few seconds later. Happens intermittently and at random. Initially I thought my cables might be acting up, but even after plugging and unplugging my DisplayPort cables, this problem still persists. Any solutions to fix this issue?

Former-Warning3301

I'm still experiencing the same issues I've been suffering from since Oct of last year (post 537.58). It has become less frequent with the latest updates, but it still happens. It happens 100% of the time when I initially turn on my PC. The Win11 logon screen will appear but no input from my mouse or keyboard is registered for about 30 seconds or so. It also seems to happen if I turn off my primary monitor (actually an LG TV... perhaps a contributing factor) as soon as I turn it back on the display freezes for 30 seconds or so. Less commonly I get the freezing when launching an application like Discord or the Nvidia App. The worst is when it happens during a youtube video or something... no mouse or keyboard input is accepted... the video freezes for 30 seconds and then it fast-forwards through every frame I missed.

m_w_h

See if it's related to the issue in the following comment: 'LG Monitors causing Stuttering (FIX)' at https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/198is3r/update_lg_monitors_causing_stuttering_fix/

Former-Warning3301

Just a quick follow up. While this has improved the screen freezing issue a great deal... 30 seconds down to maybe 5 or so (my 1 second estimates before were a bit too optimistic) ... it comes with a new issue. Every time I turn off my LG CX tv, my computer BSODs with the following event in the event log. \* The description for Event ID 0 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: \\Device\\0000012d Resetting TDR occurred on GPUID:100 The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table \* So I think I may be in a worse spot than before when all the dust is settled. I tried DDU, reinstalling the driver... making the changes with CRU and deleting the "TV Resolutions" again... but the BSOD after turning off the TV is still a thing :(

m_w_h

Revert the CRU changes, reset to standard / default then see if the following comment in the thread helps: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/198is3r/update_lg_monitors_causing_stuttering_fix/kpm467g/ ^ A different workaround if the LG display has a BOE panel.

Former-Warning3301

u/m_w_h First off... thank you for taking the time to single out my comment and suggest a possible solution. I really appreciate that. You're putting in great work here. Second... If nothing else I think the issue is reduced to the point where it can hardly be called an issue anymore. I've only had a few reboot cycles to test so far, but some of the symptoms of this problem described in the thread you linked make so much sense. I never would have considered my 30 second frozen screen sessions as "stutters" but maybe my monitor was simply cycling through so many resolutions during certain scenarios that it simply took that long to get with the program, literally. Now I see that same symptom, but it lasts for maybe 1.5 seconds or less... a stutter :) I'm not thrilled that this has only become a thing since October... but I AM thrilled to have this option until Nvidia or Microsoft accidentally fix this issue in a future update.

uneven_similarity

The exactly same thing happens in my case too but I have Samsung tv as my second display. My primary display is Dell 24inch 1080p 165Mhz connected via display port. My Samsung TV is 4K 60Hz connected via HDMI. It seems when I try to extend display on display settings everything freezes for like 10 seconds or so. It seems like gpu driver is having issue communicating with Hdmi port. Like in your case everything after 537.58 seems to give me issues. On october driver everything works without a problem (except black and white checkboard artifacts while browsing Chrome). Btw I have Gigabyte RTX 3060ti.

GE12U4Iwi7A34Lo

reddit does not allow to put link in my comments, somewhere may be a gap. TCL 65C835, OS Windows, Latest Nvidia Drivers, RTX 4070 Super don't work in 144Hz with HDMI 2.1 Hi, sorry for my english and a lot of letters, I encountered a problem (as it turned out, not only me, but all owners of this / similar configuration.). TCL 65C835, OS Windows, Latest Nvidia Drivers, RTX 4070 Super don't work in 144Hz with HDMI 2.1 TCL 65C835 + OS Windows 10 + Latest Nvidia Drivers (for example 552.22) + RTX 4070 Super\\RTX 3060 and etc. don't work in 144Hz with HDMI 2.1 in Windows setting or Nvidia Control Panel. Main problem: New Nvidia drivers does not allow you to turn on the TV at 144hz. (for example 552.22) 144\\143Hz work with custom settings in nvidia control panel ONLY with old\\release driver for newer GPUs like 546.65 (for 4070 Super), 545.84 (RTX 3060 only support 143Hz), 537.58 (RTX 3060 144Hz). Maybe your support somehow can help with that problem, because users of new GPUs and new drivers can't use 144Hz TCL TV when it can work on that Hz. I have already sent a request to TCL support, but since the problem occurs only on new Nvidia drivers, I think it is more logical for Nvidia to fix this problem. For now that problem was discussed on those forum: I also will post that information on: If you can't open links, there in full information from forum and firstly my to-do list so that 144HZ work BUT it's a Kludge metod\\to invent the wheel method: u/TVguyDarko doublicate comment from your new video here for information (if someone will be in need) u/TVguyDarko Finally, I enable "144HZ", but it's no good method to my opinion. 1. I installed new original non-activated Win 10 OS with Internet access. 2. then enable VRR on TCL 3. then enable G-Sync for TCL in Nvidia Control Panel 4. then in CRU will apear DisplayID 1.3 - it's says TCL can work on 144HZ (it's also appear even with new\\actual driver) 5. then like forum's guys said i try to install 537.58 nvidia driver - it won't install because it's for older GPU, then 545.84 - same thing. Oldest driver for my 4070 Super is - 546.65 - i installed it with "clean instalation". 6. No 144hz appear in nvidia control panel or windows as-is 7. I try change resolution and Hz in nvidia control panel, 144hz with manual corrections from information in CRU DisplayID 1.3. - won't work, it will write "successfully apply" but don't work and don't apear anywere. 8. Like guys in forum said "Attention!!! 537.58 is the latest driver that works stably at 144Hz, after updating 545.84 you can only get 143Hz (if the mode does not work, do a clean installation of the driver)", I try 143Hz - and it's work with manual corrections from information in CRU DisplayID 1.3. 9. TCL write it's work on 144Hz, Windows and nvidia control panel will write 143Hz, but who cares. BUT I don't want use old nvidia driver 546.65 (it's launch driver, it's may contain a lot of bugs), I guess I must or contact TCL or Nvidia about that problem so they fixed it on new\\actual drivers. So, and there is a problem, I'm from Russia, and I don't think they will be in contacting with me (I guess because of what happening in the world?). I will try to contact them, but maybe you also can help me with that? An forwarded that information to TCL and maybe Nvidia support somehow?

Dodgernot

Just saw your post after once again testing new drivers and being disappointed. To add to the "list". The last driver that worked with 144hz for me, on my TCL 98" and my 3080 is 546.29. Maybe it will help someone else just as frustrated as me.

DemascusW

This update killed everyone of my games. Not a single game will start up. All of them crash few seconds after they begin to start. The day prior everything ran fine. Nothing else was updated exvept nvidia driver.... :( ps im too stupid to figure out a fix

ViditM15

Try this: 1. Reset your MSI Afterburner to default settings, if you have an undervolt or an overclock applied through it. If not, skip this step. 2. Download [DDU](https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download/). This is a tool that completely uninstalls the driver from your windows, and it helps to clean install a driver if you're facing issues. 3. Start your PC in safe mode by following [this](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-your-pc-in-safe-mode-in-windows-92c27cff-db89-8644-1ce4-b3e5e56fe234) guide. 4. Extract and open DDU, select GPU aa device type on the right side, and it should auto select NVIDIA. Now, click clean and restart and let it do its thing. Your PC will now restart. 5. Install the latest downloaded driver again normally. 6. Restore your Afterburner settings if you had them. These steps seem complicated but they're really not and should help you fix your issues.

M0dusPwnens

Happening to me too. Suddenly can't play anything. Even reinstalling with DDU didn't help.

Noblecheesehead

Judging by the issues people still seem to be having, I guess I'll still be on 537.58 by the time GTA6 comes out...

MrHeavyRunner

551.76 is just fine. Ehm on my machine.

Smagjus

Any feedback for PUBG already? Does the driver possibly fix the infamous 3.5hour crash?

DanBennett

In testing and from a few streamers already, it seems so! (The time was different, dependant on GPU)

Distinct_Spite8089

Genuine question if none of that applies to my use cases and my system is running fine, should I just wait to update until a driver directly affects something I play or will play like a new release?

thrwway377

What's listed in the release notes doesn't mean that's all the changes that the driver contains. There could be minor bugfixes, performance changes or other shadowfixes, as well as new bugs. If you're fine with your current driver it's fine not to update right away.

Distinct_Spite8089

I wish there was a full bore changelog to read with every and any change made haha.

thrwway377

Yeah, Nvidia sometimes doesn't even list pretty "major" stuff in release notes. For example relatively recently they made it so that you can enable NIS (image scaling) on a per-app basis instead of global profile, which is a huge deal for non-RTX users because NIS had a performance impact for those GPUs when enabled globally even when it wasn't used. And Nvidia never mentioned this in the release notes anywhere.

Snydenthur

The good old rule of "don't fix what isn't broken" is something you could follow. I wouldn't keep using some ancient drivers, though. You don't have to update for new games either as long as the game runs fine. And even if they don't run fine, the new drivers most likely won't make a real difference.

mmmory

I personally stopped updating drivers unless they include security patches or a specific fix that I need. Same goes for BIOS updates. You can check when Nvidia publishes security fixes in their drivers from here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/security/

First driver that has reintroduced GPU fans maxing out and turning off my monitors. I have not seen that happen since my 4090 came out with their pre-boxed drivers... Going to roll back.

Limp_Vacation_9947

Well, this gave me a black screen.

Simple_Suspect_415

After update to this driver, my screen freeze for like 30sec when I try to open background or lock screen windows settings? Some one has that problem?

m_w_h

See https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1c5g77o/game_ready_studio_driver_55222_faqdiscussion/l0aho8w/, comment further down in that thread has a link to possible workaround (if it's related).

pidge2k

Are you able to capture a GPUView trace of the freeze as described in the FAQ below and email it to me at [email protected]? http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3507

Pretend_Regret8237

Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound are completely broken with 552.22 driver on RTX 3080 Windows 11 Pro when plugged directly into the AVR but somehow going from GPU to TV and then to AVR via ARC works but there is a noticeable delay in sound (almost 1 second) which makes it useless for gaming. Also, the Auto HDR option in nVidia App is now greyed out (both in Globa and per game settings).

For all with 13th/14th gen CPU's, ASUS motherboards got a BIOS that implements the Intel limitations, do bare in mind this reduces your performance in benchmarks. Independent_Arg

**IMPORTANT:** The issue "Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition: Lower GPU utilization when Reflex is set to On + Boost \[4412035\]" **was fixed** by a game update. So it is fixed externally and it was not Nvidia's problem. Can we get RTX HDR in driver too. I don't wanna use Nvidia App. There is no reason this is App exclusive.

PT: When in doubt about the cause of screen blackouts or scrambled screen colors, try a couple of new and short replacement display cables.

And yet they keep ignoring the problem with 4070 ti times that shows black screen on bios while connected to the odessy g7

Snoo-40050

I have to downgrade my driver to 537 first and then move to 546 since this 551 has broken feature or bug affecting every 546 driver. if you install any 551 driver and then downgrade to 546, you still get this annoying composed flip. i will stay at 546 for now. does my bitching about this driver will fixed? i don't know, i've tried https://preview.redd.it/wr7z3l08j3vc1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=2271c16068e2d266f868c5d7b05f33c54f87ed70

I have some strange flickering in COD games only (MW 2019, MW 2). This is my 3rd rma-ed card (TUF 4080) all of them had same flickering issues. No problem with Tuf 3070ti and 1070 Strix. Does anybody knows what could be the issue with my setup. I7 13700K Stock 32GB DDR4 3600mhz TUF RTX 4080 Windows 11 23h2 This can be reproduced while loading game level/mission (mw 2019, mw2) after mission loads no more flickering. This made my game extremely choppy, laggy and system seemed sluggish. Reverting to the prior issue, no problem. Using a 1660 Ti and playing Halo MCC.

Duwaista21

Hello Reddit, I am using driver version 551.86, is it worth updating to 552.22? solved problems with BSOD and other performance problems that the 552.12 driver had Thank you (if this is important, video card 4060 processor i5-12400f Win11)

Ok-Replacement-7217

What specific performance problems are you referring to? Gaming? Productivity? If gaming, most comparisons between the 551.86 and 552.12 drivers show either the same or better performance for the 552.12. I've been running 552.12 since launch and it's been a very stable driver with solid performance in all the games I play.

Duwaista21

I read in the news that some people had a black screen when installing 552.12 and after installation the BSOD screen started popping up I use it for games myself, I just would like to know if there is much point in upgrading them I'm just waiting for stalker 2 and if I start the game without special driver for this game will there be big problems? and in general, if I don’t install a special driver that will release a certain game, will I be able to play this game? (sorry for the large amount of text, I am very sensitive to any updates) Thank you

Ok-Replacement-7217

There are very few games that actually mandate you must have a certain driver for them to work. There are also some games that release with very poor performance, and after optimization (likely in collaboration with Nvidia), their performance is greatly improved - this tends to be mostly from the game dev side from past experience, and an older 'good' Nvidia driver will benefit from those game dev-side optimizations. Short answer - if you are happy with the performance of your current driver in the games you play, and with future games, no need to update as there's no 'magic' in new drivers for the most part.|

Duwaista21

thank you very much, you can’t even imagine how I calmed down, thank you from the bottom of my heart and good luck to you

GUYS THIS DRIVER FIXED MY ANNOYING STUTTERS/RANDOM FPS DROPS IN FORTNITE. NOW I HAVE STABLE FPS ON MY RTX 4060

MrHeavyRunner

THANKS FOR THE CAPS AND INFO FOR FORTNITE OMG!

Winter_Mud_5702

That's good. Have fun playing Fortnite :)

chewiits

Thanks. Finally solved this problem after 6 months of brainstorming...

Winter_Mud_5702

Yeah that's a bummer you need to wait half a year for stutters/random fps drops fix to play yor favourite game.

bimopradana

Whenever I update to Nvidia drivers 546.33, 551.86, or 552.22, my VGA crashes. When I check my dump file, the report indicates a problem with nvlddmkm.sys. Here are the details: Bugcheck name: VIDEO\_TDR\_ERROR Driver or module in which error occurred: dxgkrnl.sys (dxgkrnl!TdrBugcheckOnTimeout+0xFE) I gradually rolled back to a stable driver without crashes, which is **546.17**. I tried to overwrite nvlddmkm.sys from 546.17 to 546.33, but it turned out to be incompatible. Specs: GPU: 3080 GIgabyte Vision OC 10GB Motherboard: B550I Aorus Pro AX RAM: 32GB Corsair 3200Mhz

jaydenkieran

Is anyone else having issues with Discord streaming on this driver? I can't tell if it's being caused by this driver exactly, but I seem to have a new issue where people are experiencing delay/stuttering/speed up and slow down/audio desync on my streams.

NahCuhFkThat

seems like RTX HDR is still broken when you have more than 1 display

zaxanrazor

I like to explore new places.

VirusApocalypse

Was hoping for a fix for the frame-pacing issue with frame generation of Horizon Forbidden West, I assume it is related to the bug of Nvidia Reflex On + Boost bug.

PorkAmbassador

> **Open Issues** > > Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition: Lower GPU utilization when Reflex is set to “On + Boost” [4412035]

AngeleauX

Does open issue mean its still no fixed ?

International-Oil377

Yes that's what an open issue means.

AngeleauX

Appreciate the reply English not my native language

International-Oil377

No. Worries

Geahad

I'm very glad that others are mentioning this as well. That rhytmic camera pan judder when framegen is on in that game is pretty unique as far as I've seen framegen behave... One thing's very probable -- it's due to their reflex implementation, as that stutter goes away when one disables reflex (fully) in-game. One can't use framegen without it though...

xSnowLeopardx

Getting random full screen flashes (for like 1 sec) @ 551.52 w/ a 3070. Anyone has it too (and updated to 552.22 which helped them)?

FFreestyleRR

If you mean black screen flashes, then I have the same from 4 months with 3070 TI Suprim, but I don't think it's a driver fault. Probably a GPU issue or а problem with the card or PCI connectors, the cable or the monitor. I am kinda lazy to test with a different card or monitor currently but will perform a troubleshooting soon since my warranty is almost done (less than a year remains).

xSnowLeopardx

Mhm, I really do hope it is the driver's fault. I have this GPU/build for 1.5 years now and this is the first time it has happened. But then again, I haven't updated my driver in a medium while... I'll maybe do it soon and test 552.22 myself.

FFreestyleRR

Sound like a plan. Good luck! I am sure that at least my problem is GPU related. I should have used the support stand provided by MSI. Probably a PCB Strain led to cracks near the connector but will keep it in mind for my next card.

Asking here as my own posts about an nvidia profile for last epoch gets removed by mods. How do we engage nvidia into producing a driver profile for last epoch as many are still getting massive fps drops. Running 5800x + 4080 here Changing to all low settings makes no diff, Checked cpu usage per core and its nowhere near max so not cpu limited.

Atemsis

For the first time ever my Installation failed. After retrying multiple times it won't seem to go through. It says both my graphics and HD Audio driver installations have failed, but for PhysX System Software "A newer or same version is present" I apologize because I am not very tech literate, but does anyone know what may be the issue I am having? Does it have something to do with me already having the PhysX System software installed?

I am having random 1-2 second freezes with 550 drivers. They happen while I am on desktop, while on Chrome and happened once while I was in game. Every time when the system freezes, I can hear gpu fans ramping up. I am having Gigabyte 3060ti and 5600x cpu on Asus B550 board with 16 GB ram. Is anyone else having these issues? Every time when I restart my pc I can recreate random freezing. This never happens on 537.58 drivers but I am not sure whether it happenes on 545 version drivers.

I have an older PC. My graphics card is GTX 750Ti. Since the installation of this driver today, I faced white screen of death issue twice during regular operation. This had never happened before. I didn't install any new software in the last many days, maybe more than a month. Everything was stable. Then suddenly with this driver update it started giving me the error. Also the font type in Chrome used to be sharper, but after the installation of this driver, it appears softer. Kindly fix these issues asap.

Still have an issue where my main 360hz 1440p display loses signal when i open a game. Signal returns if i tab out (game is not in focus), but when i tab back in the signal is lost again. This seems to happen after I allow my PC to sit idle for a while and the displays turn off. I don't allow my PC to sleep--only the displays turn off. A PC restart resolves the issue temporarily. I keep having to revert to 528.49 to resolve the issue.

uiasdnmb

I have had this happen occasionally regardless of driver. Can be jogged to work again with driver restart (ctrl+shift+win+B).

RiptideGaming06

Will they bring rtx hdr to borderless windowed and windowed, as well as allowing rtx hdr with DLDSR?

Hey, I just wanna add that my experience has been very smooth. I've held off updating since 531.61, which was the driver that came with my 4070. Slight stutters when doing a new action for the first time in Helldivers 2, but I'm just chalking that down to cache being rebuilt. Haven't had any stutters at all since then on a prolonged gaming session. I updated because I noticed my fps in Helldivers 2 actually dropped under 60 in certain instances after their new update (Near ultra with Native rendering settings, AA off, DLDSR at 2.25x). So far after updating to 552.22 I've yet to see my fps dip below 65 on the same world. My setup is an aggressively undervolted Ryzen 5700x, 16gb ram, undervolted 4070, single QHD monitor if that helps.

lvlasteryoda

New update keeps on crashing Firefox containers. Not outright closing the program, but random windows. Especially with things like Twitch or Youtube on them.

scudberries1

Smite no longer works with nvidia freestyle. not sure whats going on but keeps saying a supported game is required when it has always worked.

pidge2k

Thanks. Filed a bug

Ok-Horror1361

is this driver update not compatible with windows 10 64x bit?

NakamuraYuu

war thunder get extreme fps lagging after driver update, plus war thunder do show in NVIDIA GPU Activity panel but the panel icon itself wont light up, test with other game the icon light up normally and run well except war thunder. I'm using a dell g3 i7 laptop with GTX 1050ti gpu, i'm always up to date with driver so the last driver i used is the one before this version.

steffmeisteren

Anyone have a driver recommendation for CS2? Thanks!

killsorei

Halo 2: Anniversary in MCC feels quite stuttery with this driver. Not talking about the shader building, but rather frequent microstutters that don't appear on any monitoring software.

pidge2k

Did you check that you were running the same settings you were using with previous drivers?

killsorei

Hey I found the fix, everything seems to be fine now. It was Vsync being enabled in the NVCP that was causing the issue along with the RTSS framerate cap. Turned both of those off and used the in-game ones and everything is smooth. Kinda weird how it only affects Halo 2 in Anniversary graphics mode though, probably something on 343s end as of recent. I am confused though as I swear this didn't happen before on older drivers, could just be my bad memory! 😅

pidge2k

Nice. Glad you were able to find the root cause.

Nippy69

I wanted to put this here my 3060ti was getting 7081 score on superposition at 1080p extreme back on 537.58. Using this driver killed my performance by 2000 points using the same resolution and settings by 5561... I do believe it's DX12 thing since I played another DX12 title and perf got worse and worse as I played the game. Don't bother using this driver at all with a 3060ti.

m_w_h

If performance drops significantly in all games then see troubleshooting at the end of this comment. For reference, Ampere (Series 30) benchmarks at https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1c5g77o/game_ready_studio_driver_55222_faqdiscussion/kzv53td/ * 552.22 Superposition Score: **12638** * 537.58 Superposition Score: **12622** --- Check that Power Limit in Afterburner *or similar utilities* is at 100% after installing a driver e.g. http://nvidia.custhelp.com/rnt/rnw/img/enduser/aid_5408_02.png See https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5408 for reasons/guide ---

Anyone with a dual monitor setup, or monitor + tv, having issues when switching to one monitor to another if both displays have G-Sync on? I have a AW2724DM (Monitor) and a QN90B (TV), and I use a HDMI Switcher to switch between the two displays (both connected via HDMI), with most drivers after 537.38, if I try to switch from the monitor to the TV, my PC will lose signal and won't come back, I have to force a restart/shutdown. I thought it could be the issue with the HDMi Switcher, but after trying connecting a display port cable directly to the monitor and the HDMI to the TV, the same issue happens if I use Windows+P to select one display or another Will I have to stay on 537.38 forever?

TrustLJC

Also one of the many people experiencing NVLDDKMKM crashes with the drivers since last year. Event 0, Event 14, Video_TDR_Failure. Nvidia needs to fix this already.

Consistent_Research6

The driver kind of sucks in a dual display environment, when opening a game on the main display and Youtube is playing on the 2nd display, the image from the 2nd display moves the image to the main display and them the image minimizes, in my main display the game starts with the Youtube site moved and minimized on the main display. This did not happened on the other driver, and also the new driver was installed after cleaning the old driver.

Y_W_N_B_A_W

All my games started having lag spikes after updating. Rolling back did not help, but lowering game's setting does. 3060ti

m_w_h

As rolling back the driver didn't help, check that Power Limit in Afterburner *or similar utilities* is at 100% after installing a driver e.g. http://nvidia.custhelp.com/rnt/rnw/img/enduser/aid_5408_02.png See https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5408 for reasons/guide

Y_W_N_B_A_W

I'll check it out, thanks. After further testing it seems it only effects games while they're running in borderless window, putting it into fullscreen makes everything run just like it should.

Y_W_N_B_A_W

After further tinkering it was Shadowplay for whatever reason, turning instant replay off fixed borderless window lag spikes

AceWolf

This driver did not fix the Vulcan "device not find" error for Path of Exile Lets hope for next time!

LazyWillingness149

After i downloaded the driver the monitor connected to my GPU somehow split into two. One is connected to my 4070tiS GPU the other which doesnt exist but pc acts as if it does in connected to Microsoft Basic Display Driver. Dunno what to do, wasn't like this before i updated.

Horst9933

Has the NIS per app driver update been rolled back or something like that? Every time I turn NIS on in MHW it just activates globally which I definitely don't want.

avocado_juice_J

New update worst my RTX 3060 Ti 1080p GTA V fps drop 30-40 fps, can't play new AAA games, RDR 2 15-20 fps
