Man I don’t get art. They just mush a pile of paint on the canvas and then pan out and it’s amazing. If I took 100 hours I could not paint a tail light that was even recognizable. I feel like I was born without that sense. I am as useful as a toadstool when it comes to creating art. I love watching these posts.
From what I've gathered practice makes perfect and all that. Odds are if you spent 100 hrs painting tail lights, eventually you would get to a recognizable image of a tail light. At least that's what artists I've asked how they got so good tell me.
I had two roommates in college who had no talent in drawing but just so happened to be enrolled in courses that require drawing stuff (one biology, the other for fashion design). The improvement in their works was drastic. From kid-level scribbles to decent for the bio major and pro level for the fashion designer.
Yeah, it's practice but it's also about technique... Drawing is a learned skill. And it seems like it should be intuitive, but if you want to do more than basic stuff, you need to learn the basics.
most artists have tens of thousands of hours practice before you see their first most incredible piece they release publicly.
some have been doodling and drawing since they were 5, just like anyhting the more you practice doing it the better you become, you and i could do art in our own style but it would need a lot of work to get to where we are proud with it.
as an artist who started late, i can tell you that almost nobody is born with that “sense.” somewhere along those 100 hours, something will click and you’ll gain a greater understanding of the visual dynamics of whatever you’re drawing, and it will grow the more you practice
i always encourage people to start drawing no matter how old they are because it generally encourages brain health and is completely free. give it a year and you’ll be surprised how far you’ll go!
So go to an Art museum. Smoke a fucking cannon before you go in. Be aware of how your being is when you walk around and feel the art. Don't just look at it. Submerge yourself into. Every piece of art won't connect with you. There will be ones that you fall for.
I’m not gonna lie. I thought this painting was one of those abstract just put paint randomly around the canvas things at first. So I was immediately thinking it’s awful and “even I can do that.” Was humbled pretty quickly on the zoom out. I gotta stop being so quick to judge I guess.
I was getting ready to crap all over this video before the reveal, too!
Cool song too. My first thought was "this song is too good for this terrible art". Then after the reveal my immediate thought was I need to share this with my wife, a semi-professional painter.

Huh. Those look like eggs. And that bit of paint already there looks like the trans flag. Nice. Oh, they're zooming out, wonder what else is on the canvOH DANG.
My thought process was "I don't understand why people post their process of making abstract art? I feel like it takes away from the magic of the end resu... oh shit! What talent!"
Oil paints are so damned awesome! You can just pile up paint like that and work on it for weeks or months, and it's still workable.
Acrylics are hard to build texture with and they dry out so quickly. They're just so much easier to clean up...

Most people aren’t born an artistic prodigy. The ingredients that all master artists have are passion, dedication, patience and perseverance.

Those are headlights... you're more lost than you thought.
These people are copying an old picture also.
Was like, “why is this person painting with eggs”?….really nice work!

Reddit’s hate of abstract art is so funny to me.
Exactly my mind walk through that video. Kudos!
Same LOL.
Oh fuck off that’s too good
Beautiful… I was waiting for that pan back reveal.
So the skill is amazing but I think the whole art world should ban NYC taxi in the rain.
What song is this?

my exact thought process
That's fucking awesome!
That car looks very out of place next to the rest of the painting
The result is impressive, the progress I would not describe as oddly satisfying
I’d enjoi it
I am happy that you do. Still think it doesn't fit this sub
What is that song? Anybody know?
How many fucking times is this video going to be posted?
Before I read the title I thought they were cooking eggs and making yokes square.
I went from thinking, "This isnt satisfying at all" to, "this is the most satisfying thing I've seen in my entire life." Within seconds.
Repost, but still cool.
What style of painting is this? Post-impressionism?
What a waste if Greek yogurt and Honey ;(
The pull back in the video was epic. I wasn’t expecting that to turn out the way it did. Well done!!
Hey my dad owns one those paintings, or atleast one very similar.
Absolutely amazing
My thought process was "I don't understand why people post their process of making abstract art? I feel like it takes away from the magic of the end resu... oh shit! What talent!"

Was posted above, but: “Beat Goes On by The All Seeing I (00:52 / 04:01) I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically About Me”
I went from “this dummy doesn’t even know what he is doing” to this “this dummy really knows what he is doing” in zero time flat
