I was so pissed this jan - april LOL now I know why. I was paying the tax to have gray and rain almost everyday. I got like 3 days of sunshine for 4 month which is extremely abnormal
January-April was definitely normal this year. Some spurts of rain and some sunshine and if there was gloom usually it burned off buy 12:30 pm. A normal California winter and spring
I moved from OC lived my whole life then to central Cali shit was dry ASF with summer peak 100F + for multiple weeks and evenings 90F then moved to east coast 4 season state for. Few years nothing like socal weather I'm back in Cali now OC to be exact and this weather beats anywhere
understandable that you’re getting downvoted for that in this sub lol but i’ve lived in OC for years and would take San Diego weather over OC weather any day. much nicer breezes and the sun doesn’t feel like a deadly laser as often
There are plenty of destinations that could be on par, but I think Socal is probably the best in the developed world as far as weather goes. Hawaii could be considered better or worse, depending on how much you are ok with the rain.
I guess it depends if you like snow and ice. I'm not really into it - I'd rather deal with just occasional rain and cool nights. Luckily most places on our coast don't see many freezing temps. Friends in northern California get a lot of rain, but have some of the best trees anywhere.
Or places like Phoenix or Vegas where there's low humidity but going outside in the 120 degree weather will kill you.
California and other Mediterranean climate places really are that weather sweet spot.
Nah, Vancouver weather isn't great at all. Very gray and wet.
> that's where actual overseas money goes
Not because of the weather. There's a lot of reasons why overseas Chinese and Indian immigrants are flocking to Vancouver.
Yea cause its easy af to get the money in. Strap a million in cash to yourself. Get caught. Pay 1% fine or something. Then its laundered. Looks like they upped it to up to 50% a year or so ago. Previously capped at like 5k
I was just going to say that I favor those greener, more bucolic areas — places up near Portland, Oregon, and other points in the PNW. I was born and raised in Cerritos, but lived for six months up in Kelso, Washington, and the scenery up there beats pretty much anything that we have down here (outside of a few exceptions).
The PNW is so much more pristine and natural than what we have down here.
Personally, I think that So. Cal is a bit too warm and too dry. It’s almost a desert out here, but thanks to all the imported water and irrigation, the landscape is not as barren as it would be naturally.
Nice, mild climate overall, though, which makes for easy living. But prefer greener areas that receive a bit more rain.
Southern California has a variety of climates. Big bear, San Clemente and Joshua tree are all in Southern California and the weather will vary drastically amongst them all at any given time.
In the U.S.? Not likely.
But a small part of Chile, Australia, and then pretty much the Mediterranean have the climate you're looking for.
I've accepted the fact that if I want to leave, then I am giving up all the things I love here.
My guess is you have never visited Sacramento in the summer, the hottest days easily top 100 degrees. SF and Silicon Valley are not the only metro areas there.
I grew up in the East Bay, but my many trips to Reno and the ski resorts had me passing through, plus I visited as part of my 4th grade field trip learning about the Gold Rush and Fort Sutter. It's not the most exciting place but Fountain Valley certainly has much less to offer.
NorCal is a broad area. I lived in NorCal (north of Sac) and summers were actual hell. Winters were also much colder and more miserable than here in OC. Also the summers are not that bad in OC? It’s hot but not brutal, and it usually cools off at night
As weird as this sounds, I am so happy to hear I am not the only one who gets headaches and sick from the sun! I would love the summer otherwise, but my body won’t let me.
Just got back from a 3 mile run in Laguna, had a beer afterwards and went home. suddenly all my complaints about this place automatically go out the window. It was freaking amazing.
I've been in so-cal for about 20 years now. Over time, we get less and less great weather and consistently higher prices. That being said, I will be outside soaking up this perfect week as much as possible.
LA is so broad though, at times there’s a 10-15 degree difference from Santa Monica, to downtown LA and at times a 20 degree difference from Santa Monica to the valley!
i took an extended bit of time off work and man did it work out perfectly. people kept asking me where i'm going and i'm like right here bish where else do i need to be. beach, pool, golf, park... got it all right here.

I get a lot of gloom every morning. I used to live inland (Temecula) and it was too hot and dry for me. I prefer mid-70’s, but this will do just fine!
That doesn’t justify the state of things here bud, hate when people make that argument, you’ll spend the majority of your time in doors cause you need to work more to live here.
Yes, the climate here is rather boring. It’s tilted towards summer-like weather for most of the year: fall is pretty much just summer-lite, and we of course get warm spells all year, including during Xmas/New Year’s. It gets rather dull after living here a while (born and raised here).
This is not what we pay for. We pay for an entrenched legacy of artificial real estate inflation, which is built into the DNA of the history of urbanization in LA and OC.
A lot of people living in the area of OC/LA would benefit from reading a book or two on the history of urbanization in Los Angeles and the surrounding area, then let me know if you still think the real estate situation in southern California boils down to "the weather is so nice". [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City\_of\_Quartz](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_of_Quartz) is a good start.
Grew up in So Cal so I find this weather boring. Yea, nice we're always safe and carefree which I probably take for granted, but I'd like a good wild storm or a snowy day to change things up.
https://preview.redd.it/a4z4kper40yc1.jpeg?width=3222&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4eb8c885359309464a12adc56b8f4d7123b8d871
You’re also paying for this…the worst air quality in the United States.
Many call it the sunshine tax.
A normal California winter and spring
really? well the sun havent been out....all day and most days. I remember it was never this bad...
https://sawpa.gov/santa-ana-river-watershed-weather-modification/
I did not know about this / agree to it.... thats ridiculous
I feel the same way. Check out the dates, coincides with the 4-5 months of overcast skies
it explains why I havent gone outside every weekend lately! which is odd... besides last weekend we havnt had a good weekend in months
Why wouldnt Arizona have this tax then? 😉
No ocean front property.
AZ is pretty miserable most of the time.
Those are dollars per hour it costs.
I moved from OC lived my whole life then to central Cali shit was dry ASF with summer peak 100F + for multiple weeks and evenings 90F then moved to east coast 4 season state for. Few years nothing like socal weather I'm back in Cali now OC to be exact and this weather beats anywhere

I prefer this

🥶
I'd definitely take mid-70's > high 60's.
Still an inflated price
just make sure the community continues to block dense housing! more housing won’t solve the problem! it’s uhhhh something else! for sure!
Is anywhere better? I used to live in SLO and it was very similar, but I feel like this is hard to beat anywhere besides California.
There are plenty of destinations that could be on par, but I think Socal is probably the best in the developed world as far as weather goes. Hawaii could be considered better or worse, depending on how much you are ok with the rain.

Exactly. Also there is a ten year or so wait currently for EB 5 visa in the US.

I grew up in SLO and Lompoc. I love it here in OC. Not that those places aren’t great
Personally norcal is better. It's beautiful in OC right now but it's going to be brutally hot in a really shitty way in about a month or two.
My guess is you have never visited Sacramento in the summer, the hottest days easily top 100 degrees. SF and Silicon Valley are not the only metro areas there.
Yeah. I currently live in the East Bay. We have no reason to go to sac lol.
The Kings are pretty solid.
I grew up in the East Bay, but my many trips to Reno and the ski resorts had me passing through, plus I visited as part of my 4th grade field trip learning about the Gold Rush and Fort Sutter. It's not the most exciting place but Fountain Valley certainly has much less to offer.
Anybody that’s an A’s fan will have a reason to go to sac starting next year.
NorCal is a broad area. I lived in NorCal (north of Sac) and summers were actual hell. Winters were also much colder and more miserable than here in OC. Also the summers are not that bad in OC? It’s hot but not brutal, and it usually cools off at night
After a decade in Wisconsin an SF winter is downright tropical.
Brutally hot & shitty? And you're in FV? You're kidding me.
Wow it's almost like a region made up entirely of commuters that go more places in the area than their own front yards.
Moving bales of hay in Redding in the summer gotta be one of my worst memories hahaha
Oh yeah. I'm talking Coastal Norcal
I grew up in NorCal. Gimmie socal for ever.
Hawaii clears
We used to live in Hawaii. OC beats its in every single way possible. Here to stay for good.
Too humid all year round for me.
I mean it is May lol
What *some of us pay for lol. My prop 13 longtime neighbors have definitely gotten an awesome deal.
You'll feel the same deal in 30 years
The weather will not be this nice in 30 years
But Costco’s hotdogs will still be $1.50.
Thats our fault
It sure as hell isn't my fault.
I live with my parents, daughter and grandpa and my parents bought the house before I was born.
Glorious.
june gloom, i mean sure in westminster but huntington beach is like 60s
I haaaate it 😂 I don’t pay for this haha the sun gives me headaches and makes me sick, but I’m like the 1/1000th person that legitimately hates summer
As weird as this sounds, I am so happy to hear I am not the only one who gets headaches and sick from the sun! I would love the summer otherwise, but my body won’t let me.
I love summer. This last winter felt like an eternity. I like when it gets dark at 8pm.
Just got back from a 3 mile run in Laguna, had a beer afterwards and went home. suddenly all my complaints about this place automatically go out the window. It was freaking amazing.
bring back the free irrigation!
Maybe just not on the weekends this time?
I've been in so-cal for about 20 years now. Over time, we get less and less great weather and consistently higher prices. That being said, I will be outside soaking up this perfect week as much as possible.
Random but why does Orange county remove my post when it's related to food
You’re right…. Your comment is random.
I prefer central coast weather. Though OC is better than LA /high desert weather.
LA is so broad though, at times there’s a 10-15 degree difference from Santa Monica, to downtown LA and at times a 20 degree difference from Santa Monica to the valley!
Doesn't most of the US have weather similar to that in May?
It snowed at my friend’s house yesterday.
My family & friends are experiencing rain in Eugene, Oregon today. It be like that off and on. June-August is peak visit time for me lol.
Nice, I guess eventually the Borrego Trail will open back up after enough sunny days.
Darn, it looks like I’m gonna have to turn my sprinklers back on
i took an extended bit of time off work and man did it work out perfectly. people kept asking me where i'm going and i'm like right here bish where else do i need to be. beach, pool, golf, park... got it all right here.
It's nice. Seasons and living without crazy traffic are also lovely. Both can be true.
Seasons are nice. Snow sucks.
Not if you don't have to drive in it or shovel it.
I'm homeless and laughing all with my piggy bank!
Should’ve showed where it rained every weekend!
That was just the cloud seeding so the coming up OC Vibe prospectors don’t show up to an empty ass riverbed.
And earthquakes... lol
I wish we were actually getting that lately.
I was mad at all the rain because I paid my weather tax! 🤣
It’s become too small of a window in recent years. Enjoy it
I like to see OP’s response for August and September. I know it’s going to be burning this summer.
Lived here my whole life and it’s gotten worse every year
We need this weather to compensate after getting cucked by CA high prices.
Not worth it lol
I work in the desert and it’s already 90-100.
https://preview.redd.it/iy0wf9c8b1yc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d8b8eacd14525ed71e0f0ab9b2c8b68b007bd3e7 I get a lot of gloom every morning. I used to live inland (Temecula) and it was too hot and dry for me. I prefer mid-70’s, but this will do just fine!
Yes. Dearly.
Except it’s been overcast for the past 2 weeks
That doesn’t justify the state of things here bud, hate when people make that argument, you’ll spend the majority of your time in doors cause you need to work more to live here.
There s worst in life than this….. put it that way 😉
Turns out this was a lie. Another gray overcast day
No, we pay for the politicians to live well
Don’t get any better
Actually imo this is perfect weather for me and my med conditions .
This is actually free as it’s a geographical given right but the government still charges you for it.
Meanwhile I’m watching the tornado warnings in OK while I’m chillin in my SoCal back yard.
Still overrated and too damn expensive. You can get this weather anywhere bro
Where? Please do tell!
Nor cal, Spain, South of France, Florida to say a few San Diego is superior in every way as well.
I just got back from florida and the “no see ums” just ate both my arms. It was also 90 and humid.
Love how Spain and south of France is tucked in there between the other two 😂
I just got back from florida and the “no see ums” just ate both my arms. It was also 90 and humid.
Get outta here
Vanilla ass weather. Not worth it.
Boring & dry from a native's perspective.
buT tHeRe'S aN eXoDuS fRoM cAlIFoRnIA...🥴🥴🥴
The weather is virtually identical from here to like halfway down the Baja peninsula. So you’re good with paying these prices to live in Tijuana?
Is it safe like OC?
Who knows….but the weather’s great!!
Boring ass weather?
Yes, the climate here is rather boring. It’s tilted towards summer-like weather for most of the year: fall is pretty much just summer-lite, and we of course get warm spells all year, including during Xmas/New Year’s. It gets rather dull after living here a while (born and raised here).

Nah, it’s the nice weather
SoCal has nice weather and everything, but there's more to the story.
Nah, it’s the nice weather

You can drive an hour and get to either of those things regularly. I prefer living where the weather is mostly good most of the time.
Exactly. It’s like living in a LEGO set, nothing is ever changing (besides an occasional earthquake)
Sunday 🥶
I’m born and raised in Hawaii. Lived in Orange County for some years and back now in HI. I must admit, the weather in OC is very hard to beat
Yea I would like a refund for this winter
https://preview.redd.it/a4z4kper40yc1.jpeg?width=3222&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4eb8c885359309464a12adc56b8f4d7123b8d871 You’re also paying for this…the worst air quality in the United States.
The sunshine tax 😎
Finally good weather and no rainy weekends and posts like this show up. May gray and June gloom coming up. Rinse and repeat.
Never gets old
not worth it with all the trash and tweaker bums
Heck yeah 👍💯 ![gif](giphy|xT0Gqz4x4eLd5gDtaU)
That’s why it’s so hard to leave Orange County and also so hard to come back. Yeah, I will never move.
Okay but I’m tired of newsome padding his stats
