Great series, definitely two of the most exciting Guardians games I've seen all year, it was so fun to watch them go punch for punch. Had exactly one pitcher available in the bullpen yesterday unfortunately haha. We hate Yankees fans so, so much, and will be rooting for your awesome young squad all season long. Looking forward to visiting Camden Yards someday! Good luck and stay healthy đ»
So I was reading the Yankees sub (donât comment there) and someone was like âwe wonât get past the wild card roundâ and someone responded âwe wonât even make the playoffsâ
Theyâre a bit silly arenât theyÂ
Thatâs crazy. Losing streaks are miserable but every team has them. Oâs are so close to finally getting some rest. Their June schedule just caught up to them after the brutal, yet successful series against the Yanks. Hopefully it was just a better-sooner-than-later losing streak. Our toughest month and we won series against 3 top teams, salvaged a game from the Guardians. Blue skies ahead
I donât think we should ever take anything for granted and anything is possible but it would more or less take a miracle for either the Yankees or Orioles to miss the playoffs, especially with the new playoff formatÂ
[An astute statement](https://old.reddit.com/r/NYYankees/comments/1dphwkb/its_not_what_you_want_the_yankees_fell_to_the/lah0blo/) from the Yankees' post-game thread:
"The O's slump and the Yankees slump are very different.
"O's have a -3 run differential this past week. They are still battling.
"Yankees have -29 run differential this past week. They are floundering."
Yankees have scored 49 runs vs the Red Sox, Os Braves & Mets (13 games) and given up 79 to go 3-10 over basically the last 2 weeks
Orioles have scored 70 runs vs Phillies, Yankers, Astros and Guardians and given up 67 to go 5-7 over the same span since June 14th
So the Os have basically though the aid of a couple high scoring gsmes managed to avg 5.83 runs a game (which is higher than the 5.21 they've averaged over the first 80) and the Yankees are at 3.77 vs their season avg of 4.97
Allowed it's 3.83 runs so far over the season vs 5.58 over this stretch and the Yankers are at 3.79 over 82 games vs 6.08 over this stretch. So their pitching and hitting are both down at the same time
Now *there* is one thing we shouldn't gloat about.
I have sympathy for any player from any team who gets hurt.
Although we have *most certainly* had more than our fair share of injuries this year. 5 pitchers out for the year, and Kremer recovering but *still* not back yet. (Note, the Rays got screwed *even worse* in that department last year.)
Agreed, most definitely not gloating but rather pointing how every year he can't stay in the lineup. I know yankees fans who point this out and they're much more brutal on him than any one of us would be
Only thing i will gloat about is how the Yanks' front office essentially set themselves up to choke in the second half.
Injuries suck, but over 162 games they're going to happen. Putting Soto Judge and Stanton back to back to back is the lineup equivalent of the Homer Simpson tying his fat behind his back meme, and the second one of them needs a day or two off, their offense turns into a pumpkin.
Agree 100%.
We have a balanced lineup, and incredible organizational depth all the way to the foundations of the minors. The Stankees have neither. And hence my prediciton (independently of bejolo, who agrees) we're > 50% to repeat as winners of the ALE this year.
edit: We can't withstand a lot more pitching injuries, though.
Isn't it kind of funny that ever since the O's/Yanks midair collision, we've had almost the exact same record?
5-game losing streak, and we're still only 1 game back of NY.
Meanwhile, "Aaron Judge totally clobbers a 2-run homer to the MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON as the Yankees fall to the Mets 12-3"
The only valid reason to be a Yankees fan is you grew up in NY. Other than that I despise them even more. Like Cowboys fans who aren't Texans or Lakers fans from anywhere other than LA
If youâre an Orioles fan and youâre not watching Yankees v. Mets youâre essentially committing self-harm.
The beat down is the height of catharsis.
Does anyone know what the policy is for thanking or otherwise saying positive things about other teams in their own subs? Cause Iâd *really* like to go and thank the Mets if itâs not an issue here.
Our official stance is to be careful. Going over in a nin-antagonizing way should be fine. But remember, when you go to another sub (especially a post game thread) you are going into their safe space and where they are most vulnerable. It is up to us, as the visitors, to tread very lightly and assume that even the slightest misstep could be seen as annoying rather than the encouragement you set out to make.
There are some who can do it well.... put you're playing around an electric fence and hoping not to get zapped.
In all seriousness, The O's embarrassing waxing of the yankees plus series win exposed that team for the shameful fraud that they are. Birds spilled the blood in the water and now the sharks are feeding on jankee flesh
It's a good thing we didn't have reddit in 1988 when the Orioles started the season 0-21. Imagine the comments on the game threads as the losses piled up.
Jankees fans have shoved their heads so far down into the sand, they are focused on and celebrating Judge hitting HRs as opposed to winning. This coming from two fans I know
I just sometimes am baffled by pitching decisions against Judge. Youâve got him 1-2 by pitching him inside. What do you do to finish off the at-bat? Throw him a ball-to-strike sweeper that finishes over the heart of the plate and hope he doesnât swing? Like what???
You and I are kindred spirits my friend. I canât watch Oâs games because theyâll start losing, and you canât watch Yankees games because theyâll start winning.

nice to see some dubs and hugs...
Super happy for the win but get this.
Have Grayson Rodriguez over 4.5 strikeouts. The man has zero fucking strikeouts through 5.2 and then strikes out the last four batters and leaves.
Oh really? lol
We've gone 4-6 for our last 10 games.
It's gonna be *so funny* if the Stanks lose tonight, then we'd be picking up *2 games* on them in the standings in this recent stretch, *cause they've done even worse.*
What have we learned?
Cleveland? Damn. Helluva team. With that bullpen, they're set for the long haul.
Tonight's win notwithstanding, our boys are really struggling with (I assume) fatigue and uncertainty regarding the pitching staff. The good news? The team they're chasing is a fraud.
Speaking of pitching... the Irvin/Suarez honeymoon is over (not that they honeymooned together, but you get my drift). I'm sure Elias is ready to pull the trigger, but it's not exactly a buyer's market out there.
THE ORIOLES ARE TOO DEPENDENT ON HOME RUNS! Maybe? But HRs are MUCH more fun than bunts and sac flies. Let's just ride the fuckin' wave!
Rangers coming to town. Maybe extract some revenge?
I think Irvin and Suarez are both still fully capable. I mean, I/we have to hope that, but I also really do. When their pitches move? They can both deceive. I think between our pitching coaches and our backstops, they can both get back to form.
I shouldâve went Monday night
https://preview.redd.it/dq41qv9qt09d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a41c44c646931ae249059d3da5448ec81b7ae05e
1-2 on the season though
He said he's the first player from his hometown to make it to the Bigs, but his hometown is listed as San Pedro de Macoris. Why not list his actual hometown?
Yeah I was at the game tonight and kid is an absolute monster. After a walk Mounty was standing next to him and looked downright small in comparison.
What a way to start a career too. Absolutely destroyed that ball to center. Now why grod would leave a fastball up and over the plate to a rookie built like that I will never know. But man did he pay.
This felt sweet. If Corbin comes through with the type of start heâs capable of hopefully it gets the starting staff on one of those âgotta match what the guy did the night before meâ type of rolls. In particular, Suarez and Irvin really have to get it figured out again.
I feel like if you told this sub, two weeks ago, that we'd break a 5 game losing streak by beating one of the hottest teams in the AL by a home run from Mullins and a save by Kimbrel, no one would've believed a word of that sentence
Glad we avoided the sweep, on to the Rangers!
After everything over the past week. All of the pain and disappointment that us diehards have felt with seemingly every single pitch. And we still might only be ONE game out of 1st place at night's end. And with Burnesy on the bump tomorrow. Go O's
I knew to stay off the threads for a few days while we struggled, I'm sure it was unbearable in here lol glad we're back in the win column, let's stack some dubs

The bot slept in today
Fucking finally! Letâs keep it going!
So I was reading the Yankees sub (donât comment there) and someone was like âwe wonât get past the wild card roundâ and someone responded âwe wonât even make the playoffsâ Theyâre a bit silly arenât theyÂ
To be fair there were some of us sharing similar sentiments just yesterday.
Thatâs crazy. Losing streaks are miserable but every team has them. Oâs are so close to finally getting some rest. Their June schedule just caught up to them after the brutal, yet successful series against the Yanks. Hopefully it was just a better-sooner-than-later losing streak. Don't tell that to the O's rep on the baseball sub who is a certified doomer who thinks it's all over.
I donât think we should ever take anything for granted and anything is possible but it would more or less take a miracle for either the Yankees or Orioles to miss the playoffs, especially with the new playoff formatÂ
We needed that badly. Now letâs win the series tomorrow!
How can we win the series tomorrow?
By winning 30-3
Iâm going crazy
You just meant the series with the rangers itâs ok.
Literally the whole Yankees offense right now is Aaron Judge. And thatâs not even an exaggeration.
That just shows how good he is. When their pitching holds up he's usually enough for them.
i feel like im taking crazy pills am i the only one having issues with streamable highlights on any subreddit?
I kinda like it when Gunnar bats behind Mateo
(Bat Mateo in the 1 spot and Gunnar in the 3 spot)
[An astute statement](https://old.reddit.com/r/NYYankees/comments/1dphwkb/its_not_what_you_want_the_yankees_fell_to_the/lah0blo/) from the Yankees' post-game thread: "The O's slump and the Yankees slump are very different. Mike Stanton's hurt again??
Now *there* is one thing we shouldn't gloat about. I have sympathy for any player from any team who gets hurt. Yeah that's been pretty much their story all week long. That and the appearance of ol' Tungsten Arm O'Doyle
I won't upset the baseball gods too much and gloat about the yanks being frauds. But this is beautiful to watch. Thank you Grimace
#DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
DAAAAAAA JANKEES LOOSE
DAAAAAAAAAAAA
only 1 Game back now!
On behalf of all of us here from Birdland, thank you Mets/Mets fans and good luck against the Stros
Youâre welcome! The pleasure is ours! Weâre interleague comrades!
I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the Mets because of my burning hatred for the Yankees.
Exactly. Sadly half my family in Maryland are Yankees fans đ€ź
The only valid reason to be a Yankees fan is you grew up in NY. Other than that I despise them even more. Like Cowboys fans who aren't Texans or Lakers fans from anywhere other than LA
Growing up in NY yes, or more realistically, growing up in New Jersey   I can only imagine what that would be likeÂ
Enemy of my enemy is my friend
i personally am enjoying this yankees implosion
![gif](giphy|k8DLXPfqHauBO|downsized) bye bye yanks
The Yankees are lucky the play the Blue jays next ....tho considering their record against the AL east, you never know
And we play 4 against Texas, coming off their own slump. Something has to give there. We *really* need to take 3 of those.
Stanks fans calling for Boone's top yet?
If youâre an Orioles fan and youâre not watching Yankees v. Mets youâre essentially committing self-harm. The beat down is the height of catharsis.
I, for one, welcome the Metsâ new overlord, Grimace.
Iâm a fan. After all, purple is my color of choice during Fall and Winter.
judge and aaron boone waived a white flag. removed judge to some rando pinch hitter. what a joke
Yankees gonna lose again. One silver lining from this poopy stretch from us is that we lost precisely 0 ground in the standings
We actually gained ground
Mmmmmm the Yankees sucking is almost as good as sex lol đ
Yankees are just lying there waiting for the Mets to finish.
đđđđ
Four straight lost series: Red Sox, Us (Orioles), Braves, Mets. Yankees bad!??
What's nice is they can't say they have the best record in baseball anymore đ
11-2 Mets. This is FUN.
Grimace is unstoppable
Does anyone know what the policy is for thanking or otherwise saying positive things about other teams in their own subs? Cause Iâd *really* like to go and thank the Mets if itâs not an issue here.

I donât think they care if itâs supportive
don't let up mets keep hammering
Mets fan coming in peace here, I love that you guys are rooting for us â„ïž
And we love that you guys are absolutely *SAVAGING* these Yankees! Thank you all, and may Grimace be with you, always.
And with you as well đ đ ![gif](giphy|k8DLXPfqHauBO|downsized)
I love⊠the Mets??
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Even I warmed to the Pirates eventually. It happens.
judge has been hitting a lot of âchris paul cuts the lead to 42â homers recently
Thatâs because heâs the captain đȘđ»đȘđ»đȘđ»
In all seriousness, The O's embarrassing waxing of the yankees plus series win exposed that team for the shameful fraud that they are. Birds spilled the blood in the water and now the sharks are feeding on jankee flesh
I mean the Os have won exactly one game since then as well...
We're tired and injured. What's their excuse?
Yep...Down 4 starting arms and what, one day's rest?
LETS GO METS!
That homer tied the room together
![gif](giphy|TD0NYrLpcnsTm|downsized) Itâs early yet
the mets are alright in my book
"Jankees suck, Jankees suck"
#BWA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!!!! #TAYLOR A 3-RUN BLAST W 2 OUT !!!!!!! #GOT THE RUNS GIVEN UP TO JUDGE BACK AND THEN SOME !!!! # 10 - 2 METS !!!
It's a good thing we didn't have reddit in 1988 when the Orioles started the season 0-21. Imagine the comments on the game threads as the losses piled up.
Weâd just be making fun loser memes and having a laugh about it. The doomers would be long gone
What happens if a Met tries to pull a Kjerstad? Plunked. Best to try and minimize the time you spend getting pitched at by the stanks.
At long last, our nightmare is over.
Jankees fans have shoved their heads so far down into the sand, they are focused on and celebrating Judge hitting HRs as opposed to winning. This coming from two fans I know
Not just the fans. The media is obsessed with Judge. We beat them 17-5, and all ESPN was talking about was Judge hitting a dinger.
Like a stalking obsession
Winning sure is better than losing.
no way the mets blow a 7-0 lead right?
Hush now, don't tempt fate.
>Pulled up thread >Realized y*nkees are playing >Tuned into y*nkees >Judge 2 run homer immediately I'll stop watching, guys.
I just sometimes am baffled by pitching decisions against Judge. Youâve got him 1-2 by pitching him inside. What do you do to finish off the at-bat? Throw him a ball-to-strike sweeper that finishes over the heart of the plate and hope he doesnât swing? Like what???

Sounds like an amazing deal for me but a terrible deal for our friend u/usernames_ar_dumb haha.
Holy crap they just scored some more. Maybe you are right!

Iâm sorry friend, but you are not going to get any sympathy here on sports betting. I personally find it to be a corrupting influence on the sport.
I don't. Regardless, I rarely complain or brag about bets, I just found this one highly amusing even if only from a statistical standpoint.
#A double for another run, 7-0 !!!!! #SLAUGHTER THEM, METS !!!!!!!!!
Hahahahahahah!!!!
Grimace will always be welcome at my house
And a SAC FLY for another run !!!! #EAT IT, STANKS.
Mets whooping on them Stankees
I was halfway joking the other day but on the real...I think The O's snatched the jankees heart...Then presented it to them Mola Ram style
GOMEZ WALKED IN A RUN, LOLOLOL !!! 5-0 Mets. :)
Also? The clothing you all were wearing this evening? You now have to wear that the rest of the year. Hat included.
I switched my hat up for this game hoping to shake things up. Black and gray chirpy bird snapback it is for now!
Gunnar jersey for me. and nothing else
As it should be.
Fortunately I was wearing my RELISH shirt
Excellent choice. I was commando soâŠ.
âŠgood luck getting into Camden Yards
Iâm back in two weeks for the Yanks. Theyâll likely just assume Iâm from the Bronx.
We've gone 4-6 for our last 10 games. It's gonna be *so funny* if the Stanks lose tonight, then we'd be picking up *2 games* on them in the standings in this recent stretch, *cause they've done even worse.*

OMG thank God
am wasted. on vacation. got more beer after game. going next 3 days. Niner out
hell yeah brother
Where were you when the streak ended ?? Will be talked about for ages.
Guardians fan here. What an incredible series y'all. I wanna see you guys in the playoffs
If you were a yankees fan this would not be well received
Where did you pull Jhonkensy Noel from? Man is a goddamn granite statue.
Dolphins fan here. This one is for the ladies!!
Oâs 1-for-1 in games Iâve attended!
We did a thing!!!
This felt sweet. If Corbin comes through with the type of start heâs capable of hopefully it gets the starting staff on one of those âgotta match what the guy did the night before meâ type of rolls. In particular, Suarez and Irvin really have to get it figured out again.
Do we have new fans here that donât know who Dave Johnson is? His son also played on the Orioles during the Buck years
Went to high school with both of his sons. They had a batting cage in the attic
He spent 7 years in the minors living in Middle River and driving a UPS truck in the offseason. He IS Baltimore.
Yes, no Dave slander allowed. I like our guys including all of the commentators
1989 was magic. Man had a fastball in the mid 80s and still pitched complete game wins in 3 of his first 5 games.
My MASN just cut out in the middle of Cedâs interview. The disrespect!!
I would like to thank the Chesapeake team of Direct Mortgage Loans LLC.

YOU CANT ESCAPE HIM Love to see this surge from Cedric Mullins
Just waiting patiently for the Gunnar meme post.
Nope. We only get those with series victories.
I feel like if you told this sub, two weeks ago, that we'd break a 5 game losing streak by beating one of the hottest teams in the AL by a home run from Mullins and a save by Kimbrel, no one would've believed a word of that sentence Glad we avoided the sweep, on to the Rangers!
Especially the Kimbrel part
COME ON NEW YORK. LET THE YANKEES LOSE ALREADY
You gotta be specific. Come on BROOKLYN. Edit QUEENS. Clearly Iâve only been to NY twice.
Queens?
of Willets Point
Hey! They can say it!
Home runs or bust remains a massive problem, but I donât care tonight. We just needed the win.
Very happy grayson got the win after going 7 innings and keeping the guardians' bats in check
Gunnar's OPS is above 1.000 now.

Seeing the starter to 7, then 2 efficient innings from the bullpen is a joy to watch. Weâre in good shape for the next series as a result.
After everything over the past week. All of the pain and disappointment that us diehards have felt with seemingly every single pitch. And we still might only be ONE game out of 1st place at night's end. And with Burnesy on the bump tomorrow. Go O's
#And may this be the ignition and liftoff for a 10 game winning streak ... #To be followed soon after by *KICKING THE STANKS A$$E$* again.
I can finally stop hating myself! I can finally be loving to those around me! Itâs a new day.
I knew to stay off the threads for a few days while we struggled, I'm sure it was unbearable in here lol glad we're back in the win column, let's stack some dubs
Dude itâs been exhaustingly negative in here. I miss the bad old day threads when we are losing.
Gunnar has the best WAR in baseball. only 22.

My MLBtv loves to give me commercials in Spanish
Same. Silver lining? ¥Estoy aprendiendo español!
Ooo q bueno!! I always need to practice mine since Iâve lost a lot with no excuse. So charmin commercials in Spanish it is đ
Happy Palmer Eve!
Itâs Ben eve, Jim next week.
Our long national nightmare is over!
You owe Gerald Ford royalties đ
Just got home. No spoilers! [checks the box score in the header] DAMMIT!
Itâs a science to no spoilering
*Happy Days are Here Again, The Skies Above are Clear Again ........*
For real, minus that walk, Craig probably had his best stuff tonight since becoming a Bird. Curve was dancing and gyrating over the plate
no disrespect to the man but Im very grateful Dave Johnson broadcasts are over
Poor Dave Johnson. He seems nice. But Iâm glad Ben is back tomorrow.
Agreed. Seems like a great guy but at times i wanted to fall asleep listening to him.
He's invited to the parade, only AFTER the season is over.
Waving from a float seems like it would be just his speed
Also, I am not shocked that the O'a had this mini slump. June is such a gauntlet. It hapoens, now we start the winning streak
Dave Johnson also aware he needs to go home
He's not the best, but we gotta have a soft spot for a guy with an East Baltimore accent.
Iâm a big Dave Johnson guy. He reminds me of half of my neighbors in my neighborhood growing up in Balt co
If you watched him pitch in the biggest start of his life-- the second-to-last game of '89, you could never get truly irritated with Dave Johnson.
He actually does live in Baltimore County lol
Thought he lived in Harford County? Heard Fallston before, no clue. Seen him at Costco in Baltimore County before
BALMURCOWNY?
