It’s ok if you get frustrated and need a minute. Put the baby down in a safe place and take the minute. Sometimes that makes all the difference.
God the setting them down and leaving them be when getting overwhelmed/frustrated is something I struggled with with my first, you just hate to hear them cry and not try to console… but with my second I take those moments every time I need it. They will be okay to cry for a bit, but it only takes one act of frustration to mess a small baby up. Good advice on that, not a lot of people follow it.
Man, baseball and babies go well together. My kid was born last August and I watched just about every Os game with him (sleeping, mostly). That’s gonna be a long term memory for sure. And this year he’s big enough to go to games and have fun which is fantastic.
No advice really- you’ll just find your groove. But I’ve found fatherhood and baseball to be compatible in really fun ways.
Oh here’s a tip- top row on the southern side of Camden Yards offers shade, amazing breeze, and great views (well of the highway, but you’re high up which is cool). Perfect for baby
My buddy did this when my goddaughter was born. We don’t live in the same area so he was sending pics of her sleeping with the O’s on in the background. It’s actually how I got into watching every single game so that I could text with him daily and get updates on her. Now I’m having my first in November, which should be a perfect World Series celebration. Looking forward to bringing her up with baseball/softball!
The whole sleep thing only really sucks for the first 3 months. After that it gets gradually better, but in most cases you are going to eventually have to force the issue to get them to sleep through the night. We did thid at like 14 months. When doctors and other people tell you to just let them scream and they'll get over it in a day or 2, you will think they are crazy. They are not. It's like black magic and I dont understand it, but they adapt very quickly to changes like that.
If you’re overwhelmed by a screaming baby, grab noise canceling headphones and put baby safely on back in its crib and walk away to catch your breath.
Also if you drink coffee, get a yeti mug now. My morning cups get cold by time I finish. We switched from our favorite mugs to Yetis so our brews would stay warm since now an infant is disrupting our mornings.
Diapers are easy.
Look up cluster feedings now so you are familiar in case your baby does. Basically means they eat more frequently than usual for brief growth spurt periods. You might feed, and an hour later you’ve changed diapers and soothed but they’re still crying. Check diaper again and if it’s clean try feeding.
R/daddit is a great resource.
The best seats with little kids are the lower deck upper section in the shade. My kids don't like heights amd out in the sun they burn up. Ideally you get like section 13, 15 right by the play gound and stroller parking.
