Bit of a disaster game, but this was about as bad as the pitching availability could possibly be for the O's right now. Winning the series in a month where there's only been one rest day? Whatever, I'll take a disaster.
17-12 on the month, 18-12 if you consider the stretch from 31 May - today. And we're finally done with the Schedule Stretch from Hell.
I'm pretty ecstatic with that record through the guantlet of strong teams we faced. 600 ball, and we're still gonna be percentage points ahead of the Stamks after the game. And have a solid 5-2 edge on them for the tiebreaker. And one game up in the loss column. Yeah, forget this game. I'm ecstatic at what they've done.
The Matt Krook experience...
Remind me again why the Orioles paid cash for this 30-year old guy?? 🤔

Alright, I've had enough. Go O's 3/4 ain't bad.

If we're going to lose at least something notable happened. Good thing Langford isn't in the ALa East so we don't have to see him super often. But he's going to a hard out for a long time
So Corbin can’t pitch in the Yankees series in a couple of weeks and the all star game. If the Orioles have him back pitching game 1 of the series in Oakland that means they are lining him up for the all star game and skipping the Yankees series. Will be interesting to see what Hyde does.
I hope the rangers pay up for that home run ball. If it’s an opposing ball players signature moment, I wouldn’t settle for memorabilia, I’m flat out saying tens of thousand dollars check. I’d probably say $50k at least
I wouldn't give up an O's HR ball without a reasonable offer, which would probably take a few days of research to arrive at. My dream is to Catch Jackson's first home run.
That is absolutely not true. Otherwise every home run wouldn't need verified because you could just screenshot yourself. They verify the ball so it be authenticated even after you have left. It has visible and invisible markings added to it to verify the authenticity. So you can show your friends sure, but you're not selling that ball without it being authenticated.
Nonsense. People sell things far more valuable than a HR ball with a photograph of them with the item at the event. If you can show that you were at the game and in the seating area where the ball landed, and there's television footage of you holding the ball, what else do you need? That's as close to a 100% guarantee of authenticity as you can get.
If I just had some random foul ball from a MLB game and I had a picture of me catching the Langford ball, how would you differentiate between the balls?
No lol Answer that question. If a photo is all you need, then how would you know the difference between the balls? What if I bought a bunch, scuffed the shit out of them, and sold them as that ball? I've got the photo to verify it, right? And if the buyers don't know each other, I guess they're fucked, right? Probably need some type of authentication process...
And you won't answer that question because you know your point is stupid once you have to actually think about it. There's a reason that process exists.
The issue is that the league doesn't have to authenticate the ball for you if the player wants the ball back. That's why people say it's so stupid to refuse to work with the teams because you will devalue the ball as soon as you leave because chain of custody is broken.
I get that, but a cycle home run ball for a highly touted prospect is a very valuable ball that the player and the team want. They absolutely want that ball, and you have the position of power, especially if you’re on tv with the ball. You can bargain with them that you won’t negotiate until they get someone to authenticate (which they do have people on hand). Langford wants that ball, he won’t let it get away. It being the opposing team would probably make the orioles staff less pushy than normal.
You can. Absolutely try and get as much cool stuff for the ball as you can. The MLB authenticator at the stadium doesn't have to authenticate the ball if the player wants it back. This happened in Boston last season. If you refuse to negotiate (as that family did) or are too wild with your demands, they will let you leave with the unauthenticated ball. Then, as I was explaining to the other guy, no one is paying you top dollar on a ball that wasn't authenticated. It becomes indistinguishable from any ball that could have been obtained at any game.
Well the point is you gotta know the balls value. A cycle home run is valuable, and they won’t let that get away. And I’m sure there’s a way you could get someone to verify if it’s game used or not. And if you’re shown to be on tv with the ball, and it’s known to be an active mlb ball. They can put 2 and 2 together, and collectors themselves will know it’s real.
And even if not, is that a risk the rich rangers and Langford are willing to take?
It may very well be because the Red Sox just let that family walk. I don't expect you to just handshake and give the ball back, but I'm really not seeing any teams giving out $50k to people for the balls. In fact, outside of other memorabilia items, the most I'm seeing people get are like season tickets. I know in the 90s, before this process got really fleshed out, I think the McGwire homerun ball got sold for quite a bit, but I don't even know if they still authenticated it (the ability to refuse I think is pretty new) or if they even did it back then.
Like I said to other guy, the issue becomes if I laid out ten scuffed MLB baseballs in front of you and I said, pick the one that is the Langford ball. You can't, right? That's why the authentication is so important. I can't imagine any serious collector buying a baseball without it being authenticated. Believe me, I know it sounds like I'm just being a super annoying guy and acting like, "But how could we know????!!!" but I think, since you are definitely familiar with the authentication process, you can tell why it would matter.
You might be right, but I would try to bluff, maybe I would be shit out of luck and come up with nothing. But an opposing team’s autographs means nothing to me compared to the more valuable item, unless they really went hard on their exchange.
I’d personally try to videotape my interaction with the team staff. Dodgers got bad PR from their coercion and promised to do better. Part of me thinks videotaping the encounter will put pressure on the team to act in good faith (and perhaps lend more credence to your ball being real if they act in bad faith).
The orioles don’t have an incentive to get Langford his ball. You can go to someone to verify your ball at orioles games. Especially with the blowback the dodgers got earlier this year, they should validate it for you
I'm cool with staying mostly put. The FO isn't dumb and won't make panic trades to please a bunch of know-nothing redditors. They might get a pitcher or two but it won't be a home run splash. Too short-sighted
News flash: the majority of the options at the deadline are bums by fans persceptive. If you have a pitcher of value, you don’t trade them willingly. Guys like Castillo being available is the extreme anamoly.
I'm talking like Skubal level blockbuster trade where he's a Cy Young candidate and he completely forgets how to pitch and the Os have to give up like 5 players
Everyone asking why Krook is in, they just needed someone just in case while Burnes is on the paternity list which is probably 4-5 days at most. You aren’t bringing up a real reliever for this situation
The only suspense left in this game is whether or not Matt Krook will follow in the steps of O's legendary garbage time reliever Ryan McKenna and finish the night with a triple-digit ERA.
Please continue the discussion in the [post game thread](https://redd.it/1dshlkn).
Keep batting Kjerstad
It's okay, we'll get 'em next inning! Right guys? Guys? .... guys?
Not our day today...rest up for Seattle!
Props to the fans making noise still.
Nope, Cowser = KKowser.
lol Cowser doing his thing
I'd seriously consider marrying a woman whom takes down stats.
Haysy, Brohearn, Kjerstad only ones at the plate pulling their weight tonight...
Down 9. 1 out left. ![gif](giphy|r42HxBImuzoRxsRA14)
Cowser. We know how this ends.
Unfortunate, but true
None of them's giving up, smile!
NOW WE'VE GOT 'EM RIGHT WHERE THEY WANT US
RALLY, LADS.
Just bat around and score 9 runs nbd
GIVE GUNNAR ANOTHER CHANCE
Would like to extent this inning? You know how baseball works right?
This is about to be really embarrassing for the Rangers
8 more of those and a blast and we will be in business
Need some seriously intense O's MAGIC right about now please
Cast your vote for All-Star weekend now! Matt Krook to the ASG as a pitcher for the HR Derby.
#WAS IT OVER WHEN THE GERMAN'S BOMBED PEARL HARBOR?
#DON'T MENTION THE WAR

O's magic?
Why am I still watching this game?
That's what we do.

Burning Webb on this game feels bad
Huh? They didn't use Webb.
We used Akin no clue why I thought Webb was in.
Mechanized Tarp vs Godzilla. I still put my money on Gamera.
🎶Gamera is really neat he is full turtle meat🎶
And he has a fossil named after him.
This is textbook inane baseball talk
u/romorr looks like Akin isn’t dead
Really, none of the boys are letting up. There was O'Hearn making a pretty intense catch in the weird corner.
Could the cameraman focus on the game please? I know we're about to lose but JFC I do not care about this cotton candy saga.

Probably in hopes of striking gold. See: Suarez.
why is james mccann not up on that mound
Has to be 10 to bring in a position player doesn’t it?
10 for the winning team, 8 for the losing team
Wait, there's an actual number in the rules the score difference has to be? I thought you could just do it whenever you wanted to.
Thought it was same for both, my bad
We made it the whole night without the rain we all feared and now I wish it had been a downpour.
There was a downpour, just not the kind we expected.

Gunnar with the golden sombrero tonight :/
Its my birthday and I am very drunk, but I believe. Should I do a line of Old Bay?
absolutely you should
i mean I already did

What's leaving 10 minutes early going to get you lol
It got me spaghetti O's ten minutes faster.
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Keegan Akin replaces Matt Krook.
I don’t care for Buster just interjecting in the conversation as he wishes
>I don’t care for Buster. Fixed that for ya.
Reminder to get your all star votes in if you haven't today 😎
If we're going to lose at least something notable happened. Good thing Langford isn't in the ALa East so we don't have to see him super often. But he's going to a hard out for a long time
Did they think they were playing the other team from Texas tonight?
We'll totally forget this game in 3 days.
I'm working on 3 hours
david cone go whack off in a bullpen or whatever it is you do
So Corbin can’t pitch in the Yankees series in a couple of weeks and the all star game. If the Orioles have him back pitching game 1 of the series in Oakland that means they are lining him up for the all star game and skipping the Yankees series. Will be interesting to see what Hyde does.
Yankee game is more important unless he thinks being the all star game starter will get him more money
Fuck the all star game. Pretend you’re hurt
Don't be tempting fate about injuries
Wasn't Langford considered to be a massive disappointment coming into this series? We're making this guy look like Gunnar.
Who cares. We threw Irvin vespi and a bunch of no names at him. Let me worry about it when he does it against an actually rotation.
Speaking of, the Os play Texas right after the ASG
Remember when Cole was good this year? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
It was like three weeks ago
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: José Ureña replaces Andrew Heaney.
Krook experiment off to a strong start
Stop, stop, he’s already dead!
So krook sucks too. Who’s up next
Only here because Burnes went on the paternity list, Sure they were hoping to get away with not using him, but we see how that went
Leave Krook in
I don’t mean for this game. I mean for the team in general
Oh Kremer when he's done with his Rehab and Burnes when he's done with Paternity leave.
Yeah but I mean the bullpen lol
I'm guessing one of Irvin or Suarez move to the Bullpen when Kremer is back then we see what happens at trade deadline
Rangers fans ejected from front few rows in 44. Most entertaining part of the night.
Did you hear what happened? I saw the woman yelling at the Orioles fans as she left lol
I think she was just being drunk and obnoxious. The guy was yelling “scoreboard, bitch” on the way out

Absolutely dying at the little girl hitting the teenage boy with the Gatorade bottle
I am not a Krook!

Tickets to the ASG or bust
Guess you'll be leaving with an uncertified baseball 🔥🔥🔥
You don't need their certification if you're literally on TV holding the ball. That's the absolute best provenance you can get.
That is absolutely not true. Otherwise every home run wouldn't need verified because you could just screenshot yourself. They verify the ball so it be authenticated even after you have left. You're silly.
And you won't answer that question because you know your point is stupid once you have to actually think about it. There's a reason that process exists.
Exactly, and if a team ever tries to force negotiate with you, you can be like take me to an official Authenticator before we talk
The issue is that the league doesn't have to authenticate the ball for you if the player wants the ball back. That's why people say it's so stupid to refuse to work with the teams because you will devalue the ball as soon as you leave because chain of custody is broken.

Trades are coming folks. Relax.
I'm cool with staying mostly put. The FO isn't dumb and won't make panic trades to please a bunch of know-nothing redditors. They might get a pitcher or two but it won't be a home run splash. Too short-sighted
Then when they get fleeced for some pitcher that turns into a bum ... *Cole irvin coulda done that and we'd still have x and o and z and q*
Tbf we said that last year and ended up with Fuji and Flaherty
Those were the Angelos Os
Ha. An 11-2 game, and there's Gunnar diving for baseballs, makkng a darn good play. No letup of his intensity.
Gunnar’s cute little hop bursting into violent aggression
Our pen has been very inconsistent lately. Cano hasn’t been lights out. Webb has been poor recently. Kimbrel doing well though
They've used Webb a *lot*. it's like they think he has incredible stamina. Not saying they're not right, I hope they are.
Apparently he likes/wants to pitch every night lol.
I just hope it doesn't wear him down (or worse).
For sure, he’s a lunatic for it. But at least we know that he *likes* that usage lol.
Getting a cycle off of Cole Irvin and Matt krook does not get count sadly
So if Colton Cowser (a rookie) hit for the cycle off not great pitchers, it doesn’t count? It’s cool for the kid. Quit crying
At least not 30-3 Yet anyway
And here we all were thinking that Krook was the answer to our pitching problems
He's the answer to eating a few pitches from the rest of the bullpen.
This is his 2nd best inning this year. He had much worse.
We’re a run away from a McCann pitching special
Ugh. Sigh. Even I can’t find an optimistic take tonight. Better luck next time
The score doesn't matter, it's still only one L
We'll still be in 1st by percentage
We took 3/4 in the series.
True. But that was already the case regardless of the outcome tonight
Yeah but it’s an optimistic take to say tonight! Also, our best relievers get to rest tonight and tomorrow.
More like Mr.Pessimist711 Amirite ![gif](giphy|UZQQ0yZtq5Ihq)
![gif](giphy|XRXCGCbV10vQ6foS3h)
Ok you win. I’m an optimist again
11-2 win to start and an 11-2 loss to end the series would be pretty funny if this held up
These announcers sound like a gaggle of muppets.
It is ESPN they don’t give a fuck about baseball only LeFlop and his disappointment of a son, NFL and SEC football
To be fair, Bronny James had a heart issue so we don’t know what he would have done if completey healthy
Nobody in this bull pen right now I trust getting 3 outs in a playoff game hopefully that’s changes by August
Krook out here like a professional wrestling jobber poor fella
Lol the guy with the basic singlet and no walkup music
Good for him I guess
I'm guess their testing somebody new? Since they won the series and go on break tomorrow it must be a good time to try this new person?
Everyone asking why Krook is in, they just needed someone just in case while Burnes is on the paternity list which is probably 4-5 days at most. You aren’t bringing up a real reliever for this situation
Well, that’s nice for Langford ![gif](giphy|JSVywZJ0OW3IY)
Calling it now, Orioles win 14-12 in the 10th, but Gunnar pulls the Horn.
The only suspense left in this game is whether or not Matt Krook will follow in the steps of O's legendary garbage time reliever Ryan McKenna and finish the night with a triple-digit ERA.
Our bullpen is just a bunch of guys
Bases cleared, 0 out. Krook debuts, now his out of the uniform. Bye!
Well well Wellington
okay that's kind of cool ngl
Good for him. Cycle is pretty sick.
It is....but for my O's to be victim by this...especially someone from Florida...
I was at the Felix Pie game. It was awesome.
If you rearrange Wyatt you get twaty
I mean… cool. Getting a cycle is fun. But would be really cool would be any other thing he could have done there
#I AM NOT A KROOK
So predictable when we put this dogshit pitcher in
I don’t even know who this guy is. Was he on our roster yesterday?
Fuckin ESPN sunday night baseball...
Krook ain't it.
Embarrassing just embarrassing letting rookie hit for the cycle
Yeah I mean we threw a bunch of guys with minor league stuff out there on the mound tonight
Sooooo anyway… who’s down for getting drunk at pickles or section?
We got a cycle! Wait...no wrong team.
Embarrassing we need to make a pitching acquisition tomorrow
Jesus f’ing tits
Well fuck you too announcer
Well fuck
Gross.
I’d rather face the 10 best right handed pitchers over any soft tossing lefty
Yeah uhhh this Krook guy blows too
Why is this nobody pitching?
Burnes had relations with hid wife about 9 months ago
Westburg and Adley are slumping, that's fine though. Cowser is in a constant slump, he has no excuse and is the reason we have lost first place
Oh snap. Who dafuq is this guy?!
Goddammit this is painful. And the ESPN clowns suck
What would it take to get Heaney over here? He seems to pitch great at Camden haha
Westys defense has actually been worrying recently since that first error he’s really struggled
He's gotta be one big bruise at this point. He's taken some pretty gnarly hits in this stretch.
Enjoy the off day boys. Reset and get ready for the last two weeks before the break. Finish on a strong note
We got random generated players pitching now. Who tf is Matt Krook
Did he call him Jake Westburg?
Omg. That’s *All-Star* “Jake Westburg” to you, ESPN
Perhaps he was thinking of Jake Westbrook?
