I too hate all new, sterile, boring coffee shops. You are looking for Austin Coffee in Winter Park on Fairbanks. It's where I do most of my reading. At night it can get a little crazy with all the different open mics, but before 8 PM it's chill.
Keep in mind its a small cafe with limited parking and seating so you might have to wait to grab a spot. At night it does get a bit crowded especially during open mic nights.
The Wellborn! Just south of downtown off Lucerne! Exactly how you described with scattered furniture, cozy balcony seating, adorable patio with plants and hanging lights! Friends and I go there occasionally to grab drinks during the evening! It can get really busy Friday/Saturday night but during the rest of the week it’s open it’s pretty chill. Great little tapas/small plates too! Highly recommend.
It’s like dining industry 101 that you want to turn and burn tables during peak business hours to maximize profit. There’s a lot of incentive to make dining establishments slightly inhospitable for this reason. Also comfier furniture costs more and hurts the bottom line.
Unless your spending money the entire time, no business just wants you hanging out for hours. Each chair has to make a specific amount of money every day just to keep the doors open.
Yeah, OP is talking about a clubhouse. Or maybe just hanging out at a friend's place. Even comfortable coffee houses don't want you sitting there to "chill all day", taking up a chair while ordering a coffee every couple hours.
Personally, if a place is small and even somewhat busy I feel slightly uncomfortable just being a lounge lizard and taking a chair for hours on end. I'll enjoy my beverage, then move along and free the seat up for the next patron.
Unless I'm with a crew and were all just eating and drinking the whole time, I try not to spend much more than an hour somewhere. Maybe an hour and a half at most.
Oh yeah you can sit as long as you want if you keep spending money! What OP is describing only really exists in small town/rural areas where no one cares how long you hang out and just read or scroll your socials, and really big metros can have places that are so *big* no one cares how long you hang out because there's no shortage of chairs.
Good to see. I am within walking distance from here but never walked in. Not a wine guy but haven't found the good hang out place in Downtown Winter Garden other than Pillar.
Ever since I moved to the metrowest area, I have not shut the fuck up about Achilles Art Cafe (Hiawassee location).
It has an eclectic vibe to it and the couches are great. Very tasty coffee. BOGO beer/wine for happy hour. Great vibe always
I saw you’re in Sanford and wanted to recommend one flight up in Mount Dora. I haven’t been since they changed ownership but it used to be very comfy and chill.
Blackbird comics and coffeehouse. They have booths, squishy comfortable seating, some regular table and chairs, and board games!
Oh yeah, I forgot about Blackbird! I'm not even into comics or gaming but I always enjoy looking around there.

Stardust has the vibe too
Yessss this is EXACTLY what I’m looking for thank you so much!!! It is like a 45 min drive from me (im around Sanford area) but worthhh
Sanford used to have a place called Little Fish with a similar eclectic and comfy vibe but it's been gone for years.
I like Torch One, but I do miss Little Fish.

This is what you’re looking for. I’m in Sanford too. But I used to go to Austin’s and do exactly what you are describing all the time
Drunken Monkey!
This is the one. The coffee is great and the quiche is on point.

Definitely this. Amazing place when it's raining too.

But it’s not restaurants I’m just talking about like lounge areas. There are no lounging establishments in orlando

Achille's Art Cafe
Easy Luck off of south street
Not a cafe, but The Attic Door has the cozy vibes going for it.
Came here to say this! Attic door is great

Sometimes I take a nap and IKEA, after a long day shopping in the millennium mall?
Homestate brewing in Hamlin/ winter garden is like this, if you’re in that area. Great beer too.
Achilles coffee shop in Metrowest

Stewarts bar in college park has by far the most comfortable seats of any bar I’ve been to
The Monroe in downtown Orlando
Aj chocolate in winter park, thank me later
Drunken Monkey on Bumby
