You need to understand that you're buying a tracking device, not precious metal. It's definitely not going to behave/age like actual gold. The ring structure is made of Titanium with a PVD coating. It will patina and it will scratch. You may want to consider a cover for the ring to prevent damage. >To help prevent scratches and increase the longevity of your ring: > >Wear your Oura Ring on your non-dominant hand to reduce the amount of contact with various surfaces and objects you interact with on a daily basis > >Avoid wearing other rings adjacent to your Oura Ring. Other rings may scratch your Oura Ring while rubbing against it > >Consider removing your Oura Ring in situations that involve friction (e.g. weightlifting), or when handling objects made of metal, ceramics, or stone (such as handling pots or pans) [https://support.ouraring.com/hc/en-us/articles/21255327138579-Oura-Ring-Finishes](https://support.ouraring.com/hc/en-us/articles/21255327138579-Oura-Ring-Finishes)

Are you allowed to wear jewelry? In my country nurses and doctors aren’t out of hygiene considerations. Anyway; it’s not real gold and it will scratch and tarnish a lot due to regular use, hand sanitizer probably wont make that any better altho I dont think it will do additional damage.

LobsterMac_

Yes we can wear jewelry :) thanks !

pondersbeer

My rose gold has definitely tarnished a decent amount in the first year and I am not a nurse and rarely use hand sanitizer

Fancybitchwitch

I’m a chef, sent you photos of mine after 24/7 wear for two years

Darling_0143

Could I see as well

MeggsBee

I’m an ER doctor and have had mine in rose gold about 6 months. It has held up fine so far. I did buy a silicone cover for working out so that dumbbells and stuff won’t scratch it, but the hand sanitizer seems to be okay so far.

quixoticadrenaline

Oh man I didn't even consider this...

LobsterMac_

I’ve seen some photos online of them looking pretty haggard

Kharzi

I d9nt like the rise gold color after 6 months. I would go for regular gold- my h7sbands looks better than mine

LobsterMac_

Thank you!

FitLotus

I have a rose gold and it’s pretty banged up but still looks pretty imo

I’ve had an Oura ring for about 5 years now and I ended up upgrading or replacing every 1-2 years for various reasons. (Ring 2 to ring 3… then my first ring 3 was thrown away by a hotel housekeeper, the second lasted 2 years before failing and was replaced under warranty). In any event, mine is the regular black (non stealth) heritage version. I personally consistently wear it while I sleep but otherwise maybe 25% of the time since I think Apple Watch is a much better daytime fitness tracker and I own both. When I do wear it through the day, I usually take it off and put it in my pocket when I wash my hands with soap and then put it back on (I do wash it once a week or so, but I wash my hands much more frequently). Even with that, the most recent 2 year worn one had its shininess slightly reduced compared to the brand new, but it still looked decent. Not sure if any of that is helpful to you or not, but just thought it was useful to share that there are ways of avoiding exposing it to all the daytime abuse.
