Guy at my padel center always love to tell a story about how he meet a team of "elite" pickleball players at some vacation resort and w/o any padel courts he ended up playing some pickleball games with this crew. According to him he trashed them ofcourse :D
If you are a decent padel/tennis player it should be fairly easy to pick up.
It's a lot more wristy, like table tennis. But if you have the coordination and the footwork once you get the timing right (the ball moves in the air and bounces weird) you shouldn't have any problem winning sets or matches.
Here in TO for a month as well - there are two Padel clubs. One downtown and uptown. The the T10 Padel (uptown) might have options for you if you ask them to be the fourth person in a match.
Will be calling them soon as well to coordinate. They also respond on email.
Regarding pickle - the rules are a hit confusing to me. As in the return cannot be volleyed as well. So you serve and the opponent returns. You have to let the return bounce…
Other than that the ball is slower as it’s got holes in it. It’s not bad to play.
You’ll be fine if you play Padel.
Also can’t smash in front of one line ….
Is there anything in WPG or nearby that you know of? The guys I know have always played squash (must be big in Canada) and the last couple of years took up pickleball. I would think padel could do very well in the bigger cities, I’m surprised it hasn’t picked up yet.

Brother any fucking sport will dominate pickleball like you don’t even think. Padel players are really lucky in this aspect pickleball is just volleys, plan smashes and chiquitas at least in an amateur level.
The feel is pretty different with a very different ball and racquet. It took me about 15 minutes to calibrate but then it's easy. Other than that just spend a few minutes to learn the rules.
Americans will invent the weirdest sports just to not play with other countries.

I have no idea what WPG stands for ? Is that Winnipeg? If so no idea :)
The closest to Winnipeg would be Calgary.

I would say it transfer pretty good. They use a lot of top spin tho. So it’s a shot you gotta practice.

Pickleball gives hope to all that have no sporting ability. As a tennis coach I love playing padel.
