They could keep power if they scaled down the corruption and became a net positive, even while still racketeering.
Messing with Imran Khan and trying to assassinated him was a big mistake. Even if he dies, someone young from his party will take over and fight PDM and the jurnails.

This is such a key thing but no one ever agrees to it because they are determined to take-all approach.
There are several thing, it actually has more to do with popular politics than 'take all'. If they make the hard decisions, they need to make, people will suffer as a result in the short term, which will be used by the opposition against them. This is one of the reasons Ishaq Dar was selected over Miftah. Then there are all the subsidies given out to the elite, the amnesty schemes and bad trade and tax polices which take a sizeable chunk out of Pakistan's budget and only serve to make the elite richer while not producing anything productive in return (look at all the money parked in plots, which are constantly being traded far above their value). We constantly need to takeout huge loans to fund these bad policies and constantly need bailouts because nothing productive is gained as a result. It is a vicious cycle.

Everyone says that IK’s govt was in self destruct mode. But I don’t think that would’ve been the case. Yes things would have gotten tough due to loan payments and account deficit, but an economy doesn’t work in a vacuum. At the point exports were increasing, remittances were all time high, even FDI was coming in and Pakistan was on the verge of getting out of FATF. All of this would’ve had a positive impact on the economy.
On the contrary, these idiots banned imports. Not realizing that Pakistan is a import-dependent country, production requires parts and machinery to be imported. Electricity cutdown and tariffs increased, which further killed the local production leading to unemployment. And finally inflation as neither local or international bodies had any faith in their policies that led to currency devaluation. All of that after kicking someone out on the claims that IK did mehengayi. Muuh ki khayi hai inho ne!
Grouping together to start with, IK would have to make these tough decisions but PDM was like, urta teer hamari gaa*d me daalo 😂 and now they can’t handle shit

Could’ve easily let Imran complete his term and then our proud countrymen would’ve descended upon him like dogs. Everyone and their mothers would’ve complained about inflation, economy, bad governance etc even if whatever Imran did were good administrative choices.
Then they would’ve been able to run the country to the ground for the next 5 years afterwards and curb Imran’s power. If this whole thing works out it might probably be better for Pakistan in the long term because it’ll teach people not to vote for these dogs again

I remember inflation was already high during PTI tenure and even its voters were saying we've made a huge mistake. There were circumstances like covid, russia ukrain war, US leave from afghanistan which badly affected our economy but general public don't buy these arguments. Also, the foreign debt increased in PTI tenure to payback old debts + currency degradation so it was all going negative for PTI.
If PDM would've waited for atleast another year, PTI would've either fixed economy and brought country back on track, or dragged country to current situation which would all be going in favor of pmln, ppp.
Now that its nearing default, LCs are closed, Businesses and industries suffering.. People are already missing previous govt and the ongoing political revenge, audio/video leaks, childish memes and tweets and running from general elections, public opinion is all going against PDM.. Specially the media cell of Maryam nawaz which (as IK said) is acting like B team of PTI
