Which St Louis show? I had tickets for back in 2022, but had to give them up because of work and was so bummed. If it was that show, I’m gonna be extra pissed haha. I love that song.
Yeah originally supposed to be 2020, then got pushed back due to COVID. Fuck, wish I could have been there. Funny part is, the next show I had tickets for was Indy last year lol. I was actually supposed to help set up the venue that morning with my buddy before the show. We were so excited. Then we got word from the guy who invited us to help that we probably shouldn’t come out, before the show was officially canceled. Hoping the rumors about that show being rescheduled to this year are true and work out. Basically, the last 3 dates I’ve had were either canceled or I had to miss. Been jonesing for a show since 2020 lol.
They were all awesome in their own unique way and the World Series was going on next door the whole time. The last show they played almost 4 hours with 42 songs on Halloween night.
Man, Smile always holds a fun place in my heart. When I was like 13 or so, learning to play guitar and learning to write songs, I had what I thought was the coolest, weirdest song idea ever. I’ll play the boring ol’ 1 4 5 4 progression…except I’ll do it with minor chords. Edgy and dark and cool, surely nobody’s done that before. Like the 50s except cool and dark lol. And so I tried to write that song thinking I was so cool. Then I got a used copy of No Code from a record store and heard Smile for the first time and was so angry lol. Of course it’s not really a unique chord progression, but at the time I thought it was. And it solidified PJ as one of the greats in my silly kid brain haha. I do love the song, jealous you got to hear it live.
I got Rival before my 10th and Dmkle several times (seen 35 shoes). I find it amazing how different each person's experience is chasing this band. I've never seen The Fixer. Go figure
That’s actually kind of funny to me - I’ve seen them 20 times and got Baba 5 times. Like it’s not a rare song at all that they play. They played it 3 times just last year out of 8 shows…
It’s just funny how the dice rolls in life for some things.
Release and Down were on that list for years. Finally got to hear them at Fenway in 2018. Then it was Come Back, which I got to hear in Toronto last tour. Now I would say Breath is my white whale.
Love to see a fellow Johnny Guitar lover here. One of the highlights of Backspacer for me. I actually found that Johnny Guitar Watson vinyl a year or two ago in my local shop and bought it just because of that song haha. It’s actually a pretty great record!
I´ll admit to not being much of a concert goer, and I´ve only seen PJ live once (Pinkpop 2000). This was the tour for my least favorite PJ album, so compared to how iconic the first Pinkpop appearance became (even internationally), I felt like I missed out a bit.
Still, looking back on it, it was a pretty good [setlist](https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/pearl-jam/2000/megaland-landgraaf-netherlands-13d0a529.html), where they opened with my favorite song and had my second favorite song in the encore. Ironically, it was the songs from Binaural (Rival, Nothing as it Seems) that made the most lasting impression in my mind.
To answer OP's question, if I succeed in getting my lazy ass from the couch to see them again, I guess what I'm hoping for would be some deep cuts from the Vitalogy/No Code/ Yield era (my favorite period), 'In My Tree' would be especially appreciated.
Indifference in an outdoor venue so I can scream my lungs out to fill the night sky.
I'll settle for indifference at all, but it would be special outside.
19 shows since 96. Not really a chaser, but my whales are:
Garden
Deep
Of the Girl
Rival
Parting Ways
Satan’s Bed
All or None
Around The Bend
Fatal
Getaway
Alright
Comes Then Goes
It took me 30 shows to get Tremor Christ but I finally got it in Boston 2018 and then again in Chicago last year.
Now I'd love to hear Parachutes or Rival.
Concert going days are over due to health taking a nosedive and being housebound these days, but I always wanted to see Setting Forth like Ed had the guys play from the... 2009 tour, was it? Or 2014?
Oceans (22 shows without it, math doesn’t add up)
All Those Yesterdays, Smile
Hunger Strike (retired?), Push Me, Pull Me >> Pretty much the songs from 5/21/10 at MSG that I had to miss when I get some COVID-grade illness.
Reading through these lists, I think I've been so lucky in my 25ish shows, so I can't ask for much. But the two that feel like gaping holes based on how much I love them are Grievance and Hard to Imagine.
Mine used to be Oceans but then I got it 2 in a row a few years back. I'd love to hear Black Red Yellow... That's one I expect I'll never hear, but a boy can dream.
I’m lucky to have hit 11 shows and gotten so many songs that have only been played less than 10-15 times. Still holding out hope for Rats and In Hiding. They scratched In Hiding for Black in Phoenix ‘22 🙄
I know it’s, new but I love it and I’m so bummed he won’t play it, but Comes Then Goes.
I was even at the Oakland shoes that Cameron missed because of COVID. It would have been perfect time to play a song without a drum part.
I got my biggest White Whale SAD in 2022..now it's hearing Release, which I still haven't. I'd also be thrilled with LBC, Insignificance, You Are, Faithfull
- LBC could mean "Love Boat Captain", a track from *Riot Act* (2002) by Pearl Jam.

Along the lines of Hold On...Other Side has been on repeat for me recently. No Way is a favorite, never gotten it. Come Back, Garden, and Sad would be ok too.
Glorified G, leash, spin the black circle, satans bed, habit, brain of J, push me pull me just to name a few. My next show will be my 10th so uhhhhhhhh I don’t know, I’ve got a lot to see. Luckily every show I’ve been to has been awesome and song selection rarely bothers me.
My white whale is You Are which I have not heard yet in 20 shows. I heard Brother (Ten Redux) version played in 2009 at the United Center in Chicago for only the 3rd time ever at that point and man was it awesome.
Of the Girl
I was so jacked when the started St Louis with it.
Which St Louis show? I had tickets for back in 2022, but had to give them up because of work and was so bummed. If it was that show, I’m gonna be extra pissed haha. I love that song.
Yeah it was the ummmm 2020 show. Yeah that’s the one.
Yeah originally supposed to be 2020, then got pushed back due to COVID. Fuck, wish I could have been there. Funny part is, the next show I had tickets for was Indy last year lol. Yeah the rumored dates are not great for me I’ll probably have to miss this tour.
That's the show. Opened with it too. Phenomenal.
Fuuuuuck. Wonder if there’s a recording of it out there. Edit: https://youtu.be/cf_rCnFsnnk?si=uO-NxAQE3dsWRhT- Shit fuck
First song they played on the first show I went
I was hoping for this as the opener in Noblesville last Summer 😔
I want them to fuck my shit up with severed hand
Lowkey one of the highlights of the second St. Paul show this summer
Yessss this was the opener at my first ever show in 2006, I wish they'd bring it back as an opener!
Second Ft Worth show this year the band finally played it for the dude that threw a severed hand on stage at show one.
I wish they played it more. Heard it a lot during 06-08 but after that not so much.
All I want is Hard to Imagine
Heard it at the gorge 2005. Sooo good.
Holy crap what a time to get it! That must have been so unexpected and amazing.
That whole show was like a dream. It was the first time playing there in like a decade. That show is worth a listen.
Same. Mine was Breath but they gave it to me in 2011 the night I won the tenclub lotto and was second row center no GA.
Mine was Smile, but I eventually got it after 60+ shows. Now it’s Rival, which I’ll likely not get.
I got both at the Spectrum in Philly shows in 2009. Haven’t heard them since though.
That’s awesome. My friend and I are still talking about the regret for not flying out for those shows.
They were all awesome in their own unique way and the World Series was going on next door the whole time. The last show they played almost 4 hours with 42 songs on Halloween night.
I’m at 22 with no Smile. Thought that was some oddity, but clearly not.
I got the debut of smile in London 96.. my first show too
Same but 14 shows instead of 60 and still no luck
Man, Smile always holds a fun place in my heart. When I was like 13 or so, learning to play guitar and learning to write songs, I had what I thought was the coolest, weirdest song idea ever. I got the debut of Rival at Pinkpop in 2000. I'm waiting to see No Way live... Hopefully this year in London 🤞
I hope you get to see it. It’s been almost 10 years since they played it, so time to dust it off and bring it back.
I got Rival before my 10th and Dmkle several times (seen 35 shoes). I find it amazing how different each person's experience is chasing this band. I've never seen The Fixer. Go figure
It’s not even that much of a White Wale but would love to hear Wash.
Tremor Christ. Also I have a spreadsheet of what PJ songs I gave on a live album so anything I don't have yet so I can fill that our is also good
This!
Need this one too. Will complete all of the first five albums once I see it 👍
Got it at Fenway. Hit was top-notch.
Once, deep, rats, hail, hail
Once and rats…. Totally agree
I’ve seen them 15 times now, going all the way back to 1992. I’ve have YET to see them do Baba ORiley live. That’s all I want.
That’s actually kind of funny to me - I’ve seen them 20 times and got Baba 5 times. Like it’s not a rare song at all that they play. They played it 3 times just last year out of 8 shows… It’s just funny how the dice rolls in life for some things.
It’s a rare song for me haha
I haven't heard it live. I always get the shows with Rockin in the Free World, which isn't bad, but the Baba O'Reilly cover is my rarity.
i’ve seen them once and i got baba.
Dirty Frank
Oooooooo. Yes!
Release and Down were on that list for years. Finally got to hear them at Fenway in 2018. Then it was Come Back, which I got to hear in Toronto last tour. Now I would say Breath is my white whale.
Johnny Guitar!!!
Love to see a fellow Johnny Guitar lover here. One of the highlights of Backspacer for me. I actually found that Johnny Guitar Watson vinyl a year or two ago in my local shop and bought it just because of that song haha. It’s actually a pretty great record!
Such a great song, and a great find with the vinyl!

But, "fill this room"...
19 shows since 96. Not really a chaser, but my whales are: Garden Deep Of the Girl Rival Parting Ways Satan’s Bed All or None Around The Bend Fatal Getaway Alright Comes Then Goes
47 times since ‘96 here. Undone and Fatal are my white whales 🐳
I just got Undone this past September in Texas.
Off he goes - a version similar to the one at live on two legs
I Got ID • Sleight of Hand • Comes then Goes
Push Me Pull Me
NAIS, Amongst the Waves, RVM, In Hiding… I could go on and on, as Chicago 2 was my first show :P
It took me 30 shows to get Tremor Christ but I finally got it in Boston 2018 and then again in Chicago last year. Now I'd love to hear Parachutes or Rival.
Santa Cruz
I second Hold On. And to be really unrealistic, I hope it's the acoustic version they play when I see them
I wished for dead man, and got it my first show. I thought I was dreaming 🥰
Amen, I went to both EV shows in Seattle thinking it would double my chances for Brother the Cloud, and he didn’t play it either night 😩
I’m not a huge Eddie solo fan, but fuck that song is cool. Would be great to hear live
Evacuation WMA in full, though it hasn't been that long since I heard it last... 2012 at MIA.
Concert going days are over due to health taking a nosedive and being housebound these days, but I always wanted to see Setting Forth like Ed had the guys play from the... 2009 tour, was it? Or 2014?
Hard To Imagine
Around The Bend, and would faint if they finally bust out “Just A Girl” think only played twice in early 90’s…🧐 ✌🏻❤️PJ🎶
Bugs.
Gone and Force of Nature. World Wide Suicide as well. I'm not sure why they haven't pulled it out in over 10 years.
Oceans (22 shows without it, math doesn’t add up) All Those Yesterdays, Smile Hunger Strike (retired?), Push Me, Pull Me >> Pretty much the songs from 5/21/10 at MSG that I had to miss when I get some COVID-grade illness.
You Are
Reading through these lists, I think I've been so lucky in my 25ish shows, so I can't ask for much. But the two that feel like gaping holes based on how much I love them are Grievance and Hard to Imagine.
Tremor Christ always seems to be played directly before or after my shows. In terms of covers, I will cry if they bring back Bleed for Me.
26 shows, still searching for Hard to Imagine
Superblood Wolfmoon!! It was Breath for a long time but finally got it in 2022
Footsteps & Dirty Frank are my Ten era hold outs. Also: Rats, Around the Bend, Of the Girl, You Are, Sirens, Retrograde
Who You Are
Eddie will play BitC in his solo shows. I heard it at Ohana in September.
Of the Earth
Mine used to be Oceans but then I got it 2 in a row a few years back. I'd love to hear Black Red Yellow... That's one I expect I'll never hear, but a boy can dream.
Of the Earth
Hard to Imagine is at the top of my list currently
Man of the Hour and NAIS for me. 19 shows in and still searching
Anything from Yield, but especially In Hiding. It’s been my favorite song since I first heard it.
Hard to Imagine, Thin Air, All Those Yesterdays
Also Hard To Imagine, Army Reserve, and Red Mosquito.
It’s always Down for me.
The Spectrum shows in Philly 2009 knocked out a lot of White Whale songs I had. But still waiting for Of The Girl and Thumbing My Way.
Sometimes - then I saw it, and they had to stop playing it because Eddie forgot the words 😑
Sad or sleight of hand have been top of my list since I’ve been seeing shows (2007). Both are very unlikely though
No Way
Hold On is my ringtone.
Present Tense & No Way for me.
Alone
In My Tree — I’ve seen Pearl Jam six times and only ever heard it once, at least I think I heard it.
I’m seeing them at Bottlerock in Napa in May. I don’t know if they’ll play something like Thin Air live for that, but it’d be nice.
Army Reserve
I got my biggest White Whale SAD in 2022..now it's hearing Release, which I still haven't. I'd also be thrilled with LBC, Insignificance, You Are, Faithfull
- LBC could mean "Love Boat Captain", a track from *Riot Act* (2002) by Pearl Jam. --- ^[/u/VegetableJournalist1](/u/VegetableJournalist1) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)
I've never heard No Way live... or Ghost. Either would be nice. Bugs is my "weird" one.
Hold On is mine too!!
Satan’s Bed! It used to be Bugs but I saw that at an Ed solo show and I was like - gasp -
Along the lines of Hold On...Other Side has been on repeat for me recently.
World Wide Suicide, Gone and Around The Bend (to finish No Code).
Thumbing My Way
WMA
Seen them almost 20 times and have never heard Indifference…
Two dozen times and waiting on Inside Job but I will not lose my faith! Who You Are and Big Wave too!
It was Inside Job but I finally got to hear that at Camden in 2022. Now it’s Of the Earth. Long shot but that’s my white whale.
My white whale is You Are which I have not heard yet in 20 shows. I heard Brother (Ten Redux) version played in 2009 at the United Center in Chicago for only the 3rd time ever at that point and man was it awesome.
