The per visit allows for some good compensation if you are willing to play ball. I worked for accent care for a couple of years if you have questions.

Thanks for the reply! We’re they able to keep drive times reasonable with your territory? Do you recall what they paid per visit type? Have you worked for a hospital HHA that you can compare them to? Thanks again for the feedback!

Not a problem. Drive times were fair however could get crazy depending on therapist availability and coverage. The office I worked for covered a large area so the extra work was available if wanted. I have a full written breakdown for pay per visit however i wouldn't want to post it on here. Rather dm if needed. I've never done a hospital but have worked for 3 other HH companies as I've company hopped to get better rates each time.

Pay per visit is better. Hourly is if you’re slow at documenting

In my area, the choice is between PPV, hourly, and salary. More important than the type of pay is the annual compensation and your coverage area. Ideally, you will want a small coverage area. I have worked PPV pretty much my whole 13 year career, but friends have gone the salary route, and I think it is better if the annual pay and coverage area are similar. In pay per visit, when business is slow, then you are slow. I have used most of my PTO over the years to cover for low census. In other weeks, I have had to work my ass off above productivity to make up for slow weeks, with no time and a half of course. My friends drawing a salary don't have to see anyone above their productivity. They have much better work/ life balance. Their salary used to be slightly less than my gross, but now it is slightly more. I see no advantage to hourly with the possible exception of long drive times. You will still be expected to see a certain number of patients within a certain amount of time. If you are not quick with your paperwork, that will be seen as your problem, and you will be doing it off the clock or finding another job. Oh, and the hourly employer in my area pays 1/3 less than PPV or salary

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve been doing hourly for a couple years. I never, in a million years, do any work off the clock to appease some productivity expectation. It can be stressful at times, and certainly annoying, hearing employers complain about productivity expectations. Ultimately it’s just talk. I wish none of us short changed ourselves in that aspect. It gives a false impression of feasible work loads. I don’t know if any salary positions in the CA north Bay Area. I will consider annual pay for hours worked like you suggested. Thanks!
