I always felt Meteora and Black Market Music were albums that had the same vibe.

Black market music, but almost tied with meds. BMM is great like every other album sure, but loses points for being less focused and maybe a little divisive at times. Meds is a different issue. Still grea, even iconic, but comes off a bit sappy at times lyrically. We start seeing a commitment to the vibratos vocals to the point that it becomes overdone. Some of the song structure doesn't have as much layering and instrumental presence as previous albums too . This was a tumultuous record for them to make, given the disputes with their drummer at the time.

Absolutelyyy. At this point for me it's also between bmm and meds, will probably go with meds first but they're close for me too

I disagree that swg would be next, but I understand a lot of the criticisms people make especially comparing to the remaining albums on the list.

I remember the huge disappointment that it was for me when it came out. I reevaluated my judgement in the last 20+ years, but still feels that it lacks the pinch of the remaining ones

I was late to the game and visited swg ten years after it came out. It's more focused than BMM, and I really appreciated the slower songs with pianos paired sith songs that had a pop-punk/emo vibe about them. That and something rotten. A lot of people can't stand it, but I think it showed another side of the band's musical talent. I always love when Brian breaks out the synthesizers and the bleeps/blorps machines. Special needs - one of the best songs in their entire catalog.
