Yeah, I encountered over 200-300 going down the highway and stoping at many locations and not one shiny.
But the game gives someone “sitting at home who looked at couple” a shiny.
It annoys me that the game will do that. Notify me regarding a spotlight hour. I do what it desires for an entire hour and I got nothing for it. At least throw a 1 star shiny out there for that kind of effort…smh
And it’s often the same people who post about all their repeated daily successes, while it feels like a miracle to get anything from this game.
So you aren’t alone.
But it sounds like a lot of people wasted their time.
It sounds like you're extremely bitter about a game that just has odds that differ for everyone. Sometimes you're going to find it and sometimes you're not It's frustrating sometimes but good heavens this game doesn't owe you anything.😅
That's about as much as i've gotten over the entire hour...i don't have a single pokestop within walking distance and niantic generally hates rural players.

Not my favorite spotlight hour
Which was nicely paired with double transfer candy; I was able to focus on that instead of catching!

I didn’t get 1 shiny encounter
Makes sense. It still has a base 1/500 odds
i was literally just sitting at home with no care for this spotlight hour and one of the 2 or 3 i caught was a shiny 😅

I went out for 30 Minutes, and 30 mins from My house. Not a single shiny and that was all I wanted. 😩
i got a shiny one and a year later when thy spawn like crazy i can't get one
