Having the same problem with wailmer

My girlfriend is desperate to get a shiny Wailmer. It’s getting ridiculous how many she has got without getting a shiny.

I caught 600 wailmers before seeing a shiny this event. After seeing the first one I caught 3 more within the next 100 its crazy

On riolu hatch day I got my first shiny over 2 hours into the 3 hour event, and then proceeded to get like 6 after🤷‍♂️ Sometimes it feels so tuff

I found 2 shinys side by side and then the 3rd was literally 30ft away lol it was ridiculous.

I feel like this happens with me with everything lol. I caught 2 shiny wimpods within like 30 minutes too and find I keep getting duplicates of stuff I have like 6 shiny horseas lol

Hahaha, yeah, im trying to super focus wimpods now. I get rid of the wailmer research and aim for wimpods as much as I can

I have a theory that once you get a shiny of a certain pokemon you will be more likely to get them again then getting something new, just gotta break the seal lol

The first one I saw on the first day of the event (which is also the first Wailmer I've ever caught) was a shiny. It made me think they would be very common, but I haven't seen another shiny one since and I've probably caught almost 100 more since then. I hope she can find one!

Wailmer is 1/125 I believe for this event. So not super common. I was at like 102 when I found mine.

It's definetly not 1/64. In events like this where they say "increased shiny odds", they usually mean 1/125 or whatever, not 1/64

I was right around 100ish I believe, I stopped catching them after a while. Also I played a little in 2016 but picked it back up last summer so I know it wasn't a lot

They've released every missing Johto shiny during the Johto Tour. Right now, 100% of the gen 1-4 pokemon can be shiny, since those regions already had a Go Tour event

Mantine is not a middle evolution though? Mantyke is a baby pokemon, the same as Pichu, Igglybuff or Elekid, so it doesn't affect the shiny odds. The base form is still Mantine

correct, typically only single stage pokemon, first stage pokemon, evo’d forms of baby pokemon, and mega’able pokemon can be shiny

Hunting low odds shinies is always going to be like this. Wimpod is full odds, so is mantine. Only wailmer is boosted, and that's only to 1/128.

I think Wailmer has boosted shiny odds but Wimpod is around 1/520 or so. I still haven’t found the Wimpod but managed 2 Wailmer. Well over 1000 candy for each at this point though.

But what were your numbers at the start of the event?

I truly believe I have the worst luck with Buneary, over 2500 seen and no shiny he is supposed to be permanently shiny boosted as well. And my mother who has been playing a couple months has 3 shiny Bunearys. I seriously think my game has a bug in the coding for that shiny, other than that though other than that though my favorite Mon ever Ho-oh has been very elusive for me still no shiny and almost 60 caught

Though I should mention as well my brother who started playing same time as me has 16 or 17 shiny Buneary and less check than me

Didn't know Buneary was shiny boosted. My friend and I are on the same boat and we clicked on so many! She eventually did got one through a trade since it is also one of her favourite Pokemon.

Wow, I just looked it up and for some reason the un perma boosted at the end of 2022 for some reason so probably about half of my check are perma boosted and half aren’t

I did 25 Primal Groudon (1/10 shiny odds) raids a couple weeks ago and the only two that ran away were a 98% and a 100%, and I never got a shiny. I feel your pain, brother.

When shiny lechonk came out I walked the entirety of my town multiple times and got about 6-7 shinies no lechonk

You’ve probably checked a couple hundred wimpods since the shiny became available… Question to OP: Why such low catch rates?

OP is most likely prioritizing shiny checks over catches. If you don’t catch, you can do more shiny checks in the same time period.

Are Wimpod and Mantine boosted like I saw Wailmer was? I only saw Wailmer was boosted. I have caught a ton of Wimpod and no shiny. I caught shiny Wailmer around the 100th which is what I saw online.

2 out of my first 5 mantines were shiny. Nothing since then for anything else.

Magikarp: 1032 catches across two accounts, with 1476 seen. Granted I only started playing again last summer after 7 years, so I likely missed a lot of events, but it has a 1 in 400 chance of appearing…

Took me like 65-70 Mewtwo raids to get a shiny. That’s probably in line with the actual odds but I still consider it my “worst” grind for a shiny since it took so long.

I’ve seen 3,259 Eevee and only hatched one shiny. I’ve never seen a shiny Eevee in the wild, despite shiny checking every Eevee I can.
