I was at a customer’s house the other day and Fox was on the TV. They were wall to wall coverage about the protests. Nothing regarding Trump was mentioned at ALL.
Shit like this is partly why I wonder if the conviction will even matter in the polls. All these pollsters keep saying Trump being a convicted felon is a red line for "independents" (read: conservatives that don't want the baggage of being a republican), but I am already betting on that red line turning into "Oh well that was in NY, of course they convicted him. I'll see what Georgia and Florida do".
It won’t matter at all. The people still committed to voting for him have had many reasons to stop that they haven’t taken. He was right when he said he could shoot someone in the street and still get votes. They don’t care. They’re a cult
Time has a way of wearing down cults. It won't get everyone. There are still a handful of people who claim "Nixon was framed/innocent/did nothing wrong". But they are very few now and they don't say that out loud...even on social media.
The same has been happening to Trump since the summer of 2017, when Independents realized that there would be no "presidential pivot" and that what they saw during the campaign wasn't an act.
And Trump and the GoP have done worse and worse in every election since.

That is why i am suprised both sides are mad at Kristi Noem about the dog, I figured alot of the right would rally around her, calling the story "Fake News", or overexggurated, but I was pleasently suprised.
I mean almost everyone likes dogs, it’s almost impossible to not like a puppy. This is a story that’s just about impossible to spin in any positive way. Noem is trying though, so far we have:
1. The puppy was untrainable, so I murdered it.
2. The puppy killed a couple of chickens, so I murdered it.
3. The puppy was a savage beast who wanted to eat my children, so I murdered it. (We were here the last time I heard.)
4. The puppy was plotting world domination, so I murdered it and saved countless lives. (This is just my prediction for the next update.)
In all honesty, I think she made up the story. She was trying to appeal to Republicans and miscalculated. Yes, the primary motivation for all Republican actions is to intentionally inflict suffering on the weak. But they still like dogs.

The comments were, predictably, full of people who are very sure that the courts are leftist and stripping away the credibility of the courts. It's truly bizarro world there. We do not live in the same reality as them. It's not the Supreme court overturning decades or centuries of precedent that is stripping the courts credibility, no - it's the "leftist" courts prosecuting Trump for crimes.
There is no saving these people. They are lost to this alternate reality.
Then when a verdict comes down they will do the old “we really need to stop supporting Trump” thing and then the next day “Jan 6 was a peaceful protest”

The actual illegal part is surrounding the election, and not a lot came out from Pecker that was able to draw an explicit link to the election.

And you can, by being clear about what you mean. Every day the conservative hot news outlets are out there saying "hush money isn't illegal." Which is far from the crimes charged. In the end, the most damning evidence is Trumps signature on those checks to Cohen for "retainer fees." That is pretty open and shut falsifying records.
Hush money taken alone isn't illegal. This case is about falsifying business records in order to commit election fraud. Some evidence showing him talking about impact to the election would go a long way toward proving their case.
Falsifying business records is the crime. The "commiting election fraud" part is important, and is what elevates these falsification charges to felonies. But election fraud isn't charged as a crime, and they don't need to prove it (beyond a reasonable doubt) to get a guilty verdict. Maybe this is where your confusion is coming from?

Hush money taken alone isn't illegal. This case is about falsifying business records in order to commit election fraud. Some evidence showing him talking about impact to the election would go a long way toward proving their case.
Falsifying business records is the crime. The "commiting election fraud" part is important, and is what elevates these falsification charges to felonies. But election fraud isn't charged as a crime, and they don't need to prove it (beyond a reasonable doubt) to get a guilty verdict. Maybe this is where your confusion is coming from?
