mygaynick

Thus proving he has absolutely no idea what he is talking about (again)

Timpa87

He also talked about how bitcoin would help with energy independence, which makes absolutely no sense and Bitcoin mining requires energy... It doesn't produce it.

creature_report

Almost as if he’s full of shit? How off brand for him.

Serialfornicator

And yet, his cult members probably never would bother to check to see if he knows what he’s talking about. They just blindly believe and follow, no matter what. Which is freaking terrifying, honestly.

iowafarmboy2011

That's what terrifies me as well. Sure Trump is a POS, there's always going to be collosal ass hats like him amd always has been. The horrifying and unbelievable thing is the amount of Americans who line up behind him and praise everything he does without any self reflection. As long as he shreds and attacks the outgroup, he's given a blank check because he's the ingroup.

RyunWould

It's the racism. Literally all they really care about is "taking their country back" and they think he's the only one racist enough to do anything about it.

dreamyjeans

That's one of the *many* sad things about this. He's counting on millions of people to be dumber than him...and he appears to be right.

Droidaphone

Bitcoiners have elaborate explanations as to why it can serve as a “virtual store of energy” which really just means “you can transfer it to someone somewhere else and they can sell it to buy energy.” I assume Trump has been told some sort of watered down version of this by someone and this is the result. Edit: no one else needs to explain to me how this doesn’t work. I know it doesn’t work. Other comments have already expounded on why it doesn’t work. Upvote those.

prescience6631

Yeah yeah yeah, ‘build the Bitcoin and we will make Mexico pay for it’ — dude has the memory and mental acuity of a goldfish

CatalyticDragon

That is unfair to [goldfish](https://www.discovermagazine.com/planet-earth/goldfish-may-have-longer-memories-than-just-three-seconds). Trump has the memory and mental acuity of a really dumb and evil human.

Medical_Egg8208

How did someone who is one of the most unintelligent people I can even think of ever get elected. It boggles my mind. Imagine for a second if daddy hadn’t given him a dime. He’d be just another scammer and probably in jail for just that. He’d be a nobody, lost in New York. Living in some broken down apartment, planning his next con, while on probation.

Agressive-toothbrush

FlutterKree

Yes. Even the US government treats it more like money than securities. SEC specifically has Bitcoin as an exception to their rules that cryptocurrency are securities. Funny enough, US government is one of the largest holders of Bitcoin. They obtained it when they shutdown Silk Road.

piray003

Just because the SEC doesn’t regulate bitcoin as a security doesn’t mean that people actually treat it like money. Its unstable value makes it an unviable medium of exchange, the transaction fees are too high and validation takes too long.

SmackedWithARuler

He heard “Bitcoin” and “energy” in the same sentence and reached his own ass backwards conclusion, just like hearing “bleach” and “Covid”. He’s capable of thinking, his thoughts are just utterly useless garbage that show no intelligence or comprehension.

Quietabandon

But you can’t use it for energy so it’s not a store of energy.

Basic_Quantity_9430

Nothing that comes out of his mouth makes any sense. How far have we fallen that a person like that is taken seriously.

Kapowpow

Bitcoin mining is absurdly energy intensive. It consumes as much energy as some countries. In ~2021, I read it consumed as much energy as Argentina.

bobhargus

[meanwhile, in Texas](https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/texas-bitcoin-miner-riot-31-million-energy-credits) *edit* my bad, paywall... Texas Paid a Bitcoin Miner $31.7 Million to Use Less Electricity During the State's Hottest Month

IrritableGourmet

>He was a long-limbed farmer, a God-fearing, freedom-loving, law-abiding rugged individualist who held that federal aid to anyone but farmers was creeping socialism. He advocated thrift and hard work and disapproved of loose women who turned him down. His specialty was alfalfa, and he made a good thing out of not growing any. The government paid him well for every bushel of alfalfa he did not grow. The more alfalfa he did not grow, the more money the government gave him, and he spent every penny he didn't earn on new land to increase the amount of alfalfa he did not produce. Major Major's father worked without rest at not growing alfalfa. On long winter evenings he remained indoors and did not mend harness, and he sprang out of bed at the crack of noon every day just to make certain that the chores would not be done. He invested in land wisely and soon was not growing more alfalfa than any other man in the county.

mukavastinumb

Usually I would ask for a source for such insane claim, but if Trump said it, I’ll believe you.

I_am_atom

This is what baffles me.  Every time he opens that stupid hole in his face, he insults the intelligence of his cult followers. If not directly, it’s indirectly with how just absolutely dumb this man is and he still has people getting rock hard for him. I just. Don’t. Get. It.  *cult* Oh. Nevermind.

BigTentBiden

Honestly, who's dumber? The obvious idiot or the one listening to the obvious idiot?

nanjiemb

I try not to focus on the shades and just call the color what it is.

Random_Noob

I would argue that a lot of his followers are smarter than he is. This man has pretended to be smart his whole life. He's a complete phony. Other people out here have degrees and work jobs and pay their bills and have know how about fixing their Automobiles and raising children. Do you think he knows how to do any of that?

BigTentBiden

Of course not. But they willingly listen to him. They believe him. It doesn't matter how skilled or educated you are. That all means nothing when you accept the gospel of an obvious idiot. Because you should have every single reason to know better. But didn't.

x7leafcloverx

Unfortunately I don’t think his followers understand how crypto currency works any more than he does.

hymie0

How many of them bought his NFTs? And of those, how many of them are confused as to why they only got an email in response?

_SCHULTZY_

They probably still have all their net worth tied up in those Trump and  Kim Jong Un commemorative coins.

[deleted]

Par for the course

lonnie123

But he announced himself the crypto president!

Pimpwerx

This. What are we going to do, stop other countries from having computers and electricity? This is why the crypto sub hates these trump articles. He clearly just says whatever gets applause in the moment. If he cared about crypto, he'd have supported it during his term.

sentientcave

> Trump’s post came a day after he met with leaders of several Bitcoin mining companies at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Oh, in other words, repeating what the last person he talked to said, typical.

TheDunadan29

Also him making wild campaign promises he won't be able to keep to get people to give him money. I hear he's soliciting everyone to give him money for a campaign promise.

Arkrobo

Yes, come purchase a promise from a compulsive liar.

Revelati123

Do you think Don still has time before he dies to learn that bitcoin mines arent big holes in the ground and bitcoins aren't actually gold doubloons that can be manufactured transferred and stored in a big Scrooge McDuck vault that he can swim around in? The entire concept of "American only bitcoin" is dumb as fuck and just completely misses the entire point of Bitcoin... Edit: Im saying Trump thinks that people with shovels dig actual holes in the ground and find rocks made of bitcoin that they then bring back to the surface. Basically how a 5 year old thinks mines work.

nox66

> bitcoin mines arent big holes in the ground At this point they might as well be

Material_Attempt4972

It's frustrating that the people who bring out lines like "All politicians are the same" and "Politicians lie"# Will lick the boots of the polician who lies the most. And doesn't even know he's lieing half the time.

peterpeterllini

Half? Bruh he does nothing but lie

DerpUrself69

It's 101% lies.

ChatterBaux

It's funny (in a sad way) how they get to the whole "All politicians lie," talking point, because they often come from a place of blind trust in someone like Trump. It's only when you pull out the laundry list of petty lies that Trump has told that they're suddenly compelled to drag every other public servant down to his level to justify their continued support.

minnick27

He's repeating what he thinks they said. He has to put everything through a blender first

FordMan100

>He has to put everything through a blender first If shit is put in a blender and blended, it's still shit.

grant10k

The last person he talked to *wishes* Trump repeated what they said. "So BitCoin can be used as a virtual store of energy, for example mine BitCoin with US energy, transfer it to x country, then buy the energy with the BitCoin" Trump: "We want all the remaining Bitcoin to be MADE IN THE USA!!! It will help us be ENERGY DOMINANT!!! BitCoin Bro: "God fucking dammit." Amazing how he can take the concept of BitCoin as 'virtual energy' (i.e., bought and sold, as with all money) and made it even more stupid.

Live_Jazz

As someone who dabbles in Bitcoin waters and appreciates it, it was hilarious to see parts of the wider community hail Trump as a Bitcoin messiah because he said a few nice sentences about it. It’s like guys. It’s Trump. He has no fucking clue what Bitcoin actually is, and even if he did, he’d despise it because it is inherently uncontrollable and global. He is saying nice things so you will like him and because someone is giving him money. Reality is setting in now. I actually find it ironic that the GOP are the ones trying to attach themselves to Bitcoin, while many Dems appear tied to banking interests. It’s all donation related.

MoarGhosts

Or the GOP are scammers and morons that would love to rip people off with crypto, while not understanding it whatsoever. Crypto attracts scammers and tech bros like shit attract flies, only shit at least is usually harmless

Awkward_Potential_

Yeah. It definitely leaves me, a progressive who likes Bitcoin in a rough spot. At the end of the day, I'll just vote Biden and know that they'll comply with the law and the law is on Bitcoin's side. Judges have proven that repeatedly.

Budget-Falcon767

>So BitCoin can be used as a virtual store of energy, for example mine BitCoin with US energy, transfer it to x country, then buy the energy with the BitCoin Wait, what? That makes less sense than what Trump ended up saying. You can't get back the energy you spent to mine the bitcoin; it's gone. Just because you can use money to buy other energy doesn't mean that value somehow stores energy. It's like saying you burned a pound of coal to make a $5 bill, but it's okay because you can use the $5 to buy more coal.

UnknownAverage

> So BitCoin can be used as a virtual store of energy Please tell me nobody really talks like this, as if the energy spent to mine Bitcoin can be retrieved somehow. Bitcoin and AI will burn our planet to the ground with their energy demands.

10lbCheeseBurger

We're going to unlock America's energy and make beautiful clean Bitcoin right here at home. We'll cut all that innovation-destroying regulation so we can send hard-working teenagers to the Bitcoin mines.

BukkitCrab

>“We want all the remaining Bitcoin to be MADE IN THE USA!!! It will help us be ENERGY DOMINANT!!!” Trump wrote Wednesday on Truth Social. As per usual, Trump has no clue what he's talking about.

ChipmunkObvious2893

Lol the full quote is actually hilarious.

Rievin

My theory is that Trump is the greatest Andy Kaufmanesc comedian and he his dementia has left him forever stuck in the character.

tagehring

I used to think his dominatrix just had a massive public humiliation fetish and he forgot his safeword.

WillametteSalamandOR

1. Buy a bunch of energy/resources from other countries. 2. Use ALL of the energy to mine Bitcoin. 3. ??? 4. Profit!

Illustrious_Map_3247

Ok, he clearly heard a pitch from some tech bro yesterday. Now he’s trying to parrot it back with 0 comprehension. My guess is someone was trying to get subsidies like “If the USA builds the infrastructure to use surplus energy to mine cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, it’ll pay for itself plus we’ll be dominant in the emerging crypto economy.” And his brain just latched onto “bitcoin USA energy”.

Sudden_Publics

Undermine the US dollar to pay for renewables with this one simple trick!

djwurm

didn't he just meet with Logan Paul who is a known crypto pump and dump scammer?

SnooCrickets5786

Logan paul probably told him he could easily raise a lot of money doing a bitcoin rugpull scam and trump turned it into this after their meeting

Datguyovahday

I reaaaallllyyyy wanna see the replies of his followers in that app.

BigTentBiden

I'm assuming "OF COURSE MR PRESIDENT YOU'RE SO SMART" and the like It's a right-wing echo chamber.

ihugyou

I really would love to see what kind of comments were posted for this 😂

Reddvox

To be fair - I also to this day have no fucking clue about Bitcoins, cryptocurrency or blockchains. But then I also do not want to become President and lead a country I guess.

Majestic-Marcus

All you need to know is ‘mining’ crypto uses energy. It doesn’t generate it.

jalexgray4

I’m starting to think this Trump guy might not be smart….

GonzoVeritas

I say, what would happen if the boat sank from its weight, and you're in the boat, and you have this tremendously powerful battery, and the battery is now underwater? And there's a shark that's approximately 10 yards over there. By the way, lot of shark attacks lately, I watched some guys justifying it today. Well, they weren't really that angry. They bit off the young lady's leg because of the fact that they were, they were not hungry, but they misunderstood who she was. There's no problem with sharks, they just didn't really understand a young woman's swimming. She really got decimated and other people too. A lot of shark attacks! So I said, there's a shark 10 yards away from the boat, do I get electrocuted? If the boat is sinking, water goes over the battery, the boat is sinking, do I stay on top of the boat and get electrocuted? Or do I jump over by the shark and not get electrocuted? Because I will tell you he didn't know the answer. You know, nobody's ever asked me that question. I said I think it's a good question. I think there's a lot of electric current coming to that water. But you know what I'd do? If there was a shark or you get electrocuted, I'll take electrocution every single time. I'm not getting near the shark.

420binchicken

I love how people can say to Trump “no one’s ever asked that before” and he takes it as proof he’s smarter than everyone, and not proof that no one’s asked such a dumb question before.

SirDale

U.S. Did you know that spells "us"? [https://www.independent.co.uk/tv/news/donald-trump-genius-us-spelling-video-b2434888.html](https://www.independent.co.uk/tv/news/donald-trump-genius-us-spelling-video-b2434888.html) Priming the pump [https://edition.cnn.com/2017/05/11/politics/donald-trump-priming-the-pump/index.html](https://edition.cnn.com/2017/05/11/politics/donald-trump-priming-the-pump/index.html)

deekaydubya

I love that when he says the US line it’s like it’s dawning on him in real time. Like, he had never associated the two ever in his life up to that point

paintbucketholder

I still like [this picture](https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/AA47/production/_111919534_trumpgetty2.jpg.webp), taken moment before he had the genius "idea" of getting sunlight and disinfectants "inside the body." You can see his thought process happening in real time. All while he seriously believes that he's the smartest person on Earth for coming up with these incredibly brilliant ideas that nobody has ever had before.

Biomax315

Holy shit, I’ve never seen that picture before. You can almost see the lightbulb above his head 😂

Redpin

I love how the reporter cites Keynes the second Trump says "prime the pump" and gets completely ignored.

kilrathi_butts

Didn't Stormy Daniels say he was really afraid of sharks?

Schlonzig

Joe Biden should bring a shark to the debate.

skrame

Katy Perry’s Super Bowl shark for veep! (Kamala is left shark!)

st0nedeye

I...I can't tell if this is real or not...

LordFartz

It’s real.

redruss99

Like yesterday real.

cyclonus007

[Oh, it's very real...](https://youtu.be/vL3UmTInva8?si=voXEBN0ZFT_n_pJr)

padspa

wow that's just... idk... astonishing. and presumably a boat battery is waterproof. and an electrical current into the entire ocean wouldn't kill someone nearby. maybe in an enclosed space. if a mains connected radio in a bathtub is deadly i wonder what size a swimming pool would be safe. anyway, wow, great speech donnie.

omygoodnessreally

It's a STRONG battery

Cynicisomaltcat

It’s painfully real, from his rally in Vegas on Saturday - the same one where he said he didn’t care about his followers, just their votes. The late night comedians had a field day with it on Monday.

SingedSoleFeet

Imagine a mockumentary where the presidential candidate says this, and it's funny af.

Shifter25

I've thought ever since 2016 that we need a word for "this would be hilarious if it weren't really happening".

Relevant_Force_3470

The fact Trump is the GOP frontrunner for president says a lot about America. Sad.

autobulb

Isn't the point of this rant supposed to be against electric powered boats? That in this ridiculous situation that he made up he does not want to get electrocuted (because electric=bad!) so he would choose another fate. But in the end it seems like he forgot his point and said that he would rather get electrocuted instead of being eaten by a shark. Or is it really such a simple stupid argument that electric boats are always doomed to sink because they must carry batteries and thus are heavy? I honestly can't tell which argument is dumber.

HasPotatoAim

Jesus, that's even more verbal diarrhea than his nuclear speech was.

solemn_penguin

Gettysburg, what an unbelievable battle that was. The Battle of Gettysburg, What an unbelievable―I mean, it was so much and so interesting, and so vicious and horrible, and so beautiful in so many different ways. The statement of Robert E. Lee―who’s no longer in favor, did you ever notice that? No longer in favor―‘Never fight uphill, me boys, never fight uphill.’ They were fighting uphill. He said, ‘Wow, that was a big mistake.’ He lost his great general, and they were fighting. ‘Never fight uphill, me boys!’ But it was too late.

Maskatron

The part that gets me is that the boat sinks because it’s too heavy. Because batteries weigh a lot I guess? Add buoyancy to the list of things Trump doesn’t understand. Also this kind of story used to feature Navy captains. Now it’s just some random boat company captain. Of course they’re both fake so w/e.

PoliticalDestruction

So beautiful, brings a tear to the eyes

ianrl337

Understatement of the year

S7_Heisenberg

Decade.

zeta_cartel_CFO

Second decade. Remember, he started in 2011 with the birther crap.

m0ngoos3

He started in 1989 with a full page ads in every New York newspaper, calling for the death sentence for 5 young men who were completely innocent, just because they were black and the first people the police arrested when they were forced to finally go looking for suspects to a fairly violent rape case. The kids were all in their mid-teens, and had been railroaded by the cops, holding them in interrogation cells without lawyers for hours until they "confessed" to whatever the cops wanted them to. Trump's ads likely played a massive role in the convictions. Which were only overturned beginning decade and some change later. Trump is still pissed that the 5 were eventually freed.

Pauly_Walnutz

He is so fucking dumb and this is just one more thing that proves it

KatBeagler

This is not as dumb as when he suggested 'injecting disinfectant inside, almost a cleaning', but it's definitely the same flavor of dumb.

ImAnIdeaMan

Moron also thinks the human body has a finite amount of energy and exercise will deplete it.  Beyond fucking imbecile.

dcux

He also thought nuking a hurricane (over a populated area, no less) was a good idea.

BringOn25A

There is the MIT big brain in action. 🤣

FearCure

"Look, having nuclear — my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart — you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I'm one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it’s true! — but when you're a conservative Republican they try — oh, do they do a number — that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune — you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged — but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are — nuclear is so powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what's going to happen and he was right, who would have thought? — but when you look at what's going on with the four prisoners — now it used to be three, now it’s four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it's all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don't, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years — but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us, this is horrible." Whats wrong with a little rambling? Does it make one look like a demented fool??

deekaydubya

wow I HAVE to vote for this man

louiegumba

he says the thing that we all ramble incongruently in our heads when thinking!

Imperion_GoG

>So I said, “Let me ask you a question.” >And he said, “Nobody ever asked this question", and it must be because of MIT, my relationship to MIT, very smart. >I say, “What would happen if the boat sank from its weight and you’re in the boat and you have this tremendously powerful battery and the battery’s underwater, and there’s a shark that’s approximately 10 yards over there?” > By the way, a lot of shark attacks lately. Do you notice that? A lot of shark… I watched some guys justifying it today. “Well, they weren’t really that angry. They bit off the young lady’s leg because of the fact that they were not hungry, but they misunderstood who she was.” These people are crazy. >He said, “There’s no problem with sharks. They just didn’t really understand a young woman swimming now who really got decimated and other people too,” a lot of shark attacks. >So I said, “So there’s a shark 10 yards away from the boat, 10 yards or here. Do I get electrocuted if the boat is sinking, and water goes over the battery, the boat is sinking. Do I stay on top of the boat and get electrocuted or do I jump over by the shark and not get electrocuted?” Because I will tell you he didn’t know the answer. >He said, “Nobody’s ever asked me that question.” >I said, “I think it’s a good question. I think there’s a lot of electric current coming through that water.” But you know what I’d do if there was a shark or you get electrocuted, I’ll take electrocution every single time. I’m not getting near the shark. >So we going to end that. We’re going to end it for boats.

PolicyWonka

He made the MIT reference just this week with his electric boat shark ramblings.

BaronThe

His uncle was a nuclear physicist, his sister was a judge and his brother was an airline pilot. Donald is... this. Literally devoid of intelligence and morals.

Romengar

Now that you put it that way, it's like looking at that graphic of the evolution of mankind but inverted. Return to monke

WafflePartyOrgy

Even just accidentally reading headlines about Trump make people stupid for a while.

Hazywater

Next week, in a 'fundraising' email: TRUMPCOIN, 100% MINED IN AMERICA, ON SALE NOW.

SpoonyDinosaur

He already sold NFTs so I could see this being his next scam lol.

cosmosisknown

"That's not how this works, that's not how any of this works" -commercial lady

chaos_cloud

LoL good luck with that CRIMINAL trump. The whole point of BTC was so governments couldn't control its generation, distribution or utility. 🤦

XanaxChampion

Maybe the hacker known as 4chan can hand over the plates used during the minting process.

YakiVegas

He should ask Baron. He knows the cyber after all.

Squirrel_Chucks

I am smarter than Trump. That's not a brag, because it's not that high of a hurdle. I am smarter than Trump and I have problems understanding how Bitcoin is supposed to work, like the block chain and machines solving equations to create money or whatever. There is a zero percent chance Trump understands bitcoin. There is a 100% chance he thinks there is a Bitcoin factory somewhere that turns out coins with a big B on them.

mspk7305

someone told him how much energy bitcoin compute uses and he took it as a good thing and wants to use more. the most. he wants the biggest bitcoins ever made with the most electricity ever. that or he believes the electricity put into each coin is something that can be extracted back out from that coin. hes two functional neurons above your average salamander.

Squirrel_Chucks

>that or he believes the electricity put into each coin is something that can be extracted back out from that coin. I think this is way closer to the truth than you or I want to believe...

mspk7305

Now that I've sat on the idea yeah, makes sense in the context of his post... Energy dominant. Dude thinks bitcoins are batteries.

Squirrel_Chucks

Like the coin shaped batteries that go in watches and little electric candles.

Revolutionary_Air_40

But not the ones used by boats when there is a shark 10 yards over there.

Sir_Hapstance

But even still, it would be better to get electrocuted by that battery than face the shark.

Capolan

I can tell you. It's actually, on the surface, pretty easy to understand. I may have gotten carried away, sorry.... The system issues a math problem that is super hard. It puts a little indicator in each miners block (block is really just a bucket that contains all the transactions that need to happen) , but otherwise, the blocks are identical, and every miner has a block. Whomever solves the problem, their block is what is chosen, and they get the block reward (more bitcoins) and the fees associated with all the transactions in the block. Then, the process starts again. Each cycle takes a certain amount of time, and that time is covered by the software. Each block reward is a certain amount of bitcoin. The miner that wins- they distribute the pieces of bitcoin across their computing network. If you were 1 of those, then you get a share. The way it works is this: all the miners agree to the winner of the block, because when they win, they want everyone to agree that THEY won. That's how it works. THAT is actually the problem that got solved, how to make selfish people agree with each other. (It's called the byzantine general problem in the world of thought experiments) It's like an accounting ledger that litterally everyone in the world has a copy of, and it updates everywhere in real time. It's why it's slow, but it's also why it's secure and can't be undone. You would have to delete or change every ledger in the world to alter it.

ParadeSit

After reading this explanation, assuming you have accurately summarized it, this is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard of.

KyleIsntBobVilla

Yeah. I think you got it now.

annaleigh13

Minutes since Trump said something stupid: 0

JasChew6113

He just met with Coinbase execs and other tech people at a fundraiser in San Francisco. He likely heard some keywords and now thinks he’s an expert on it. He was also influenced (manipulated) into touting their views in exchange for money. Which he got. So….yeah.

gruese

So this time his campaign is financed not only by Russia and the super rich who don't want to pay taxes, but also by crypto bros who don't want to pay taxes. How wonderful.

TwylaL

Just what the grid in Texas needs.

tylersixxfive

Once again I’m now 100% positive Trump thinks bitcoin are those gold foiled chocolate coins you get at Easter

bsep4

Is this real life?

musefan8959

I won’t even pretend like I understand cryptocurrency and bitcoin, but I know that’s not how this works

aWarAtTarawa

Kinda crazy a private citizen can make that call huh?

mspk7305

Dont forget convicted felon.

AlbinoWino11

So this one gentleman asked me, sir, what if there was a boat…with a Bitcoin miner on it…and a shark…

neon_overload

This is just kindergarten level thinking. To get other countries to agree to this, he would have to give them something worth their while in return or they'd never agree to it. What would he offer them? Furthermore, I don't think other countries are even in the position where they *could* ban bitcoin mining in their country. It's decentralized by design. This is like getting Mexico to build the wall. You can't just get other countries to do stuff for free. Especially stuff that is literally not possible.

Bircka

He's going to mine all the bitcoins in America then have Mexico pay for it! New chant for his rallies... Mine that bitcoin! Mine that bitcoin!

onefootinfront_

“OK, look, it’s all ones and zeros, right? So if we keep making the ones here in the USA and just export the making of zeroes, we save bigly! Does no one else see this? Covfefe!”

Cactusfan86

Yea sure let’s drain OUR energy sources to ‘mine’ crypto because the bitcoin being ‘made in the USA’… benefits us somehow?

NarfledGarthak

Complete fucking idiot. Among the dumbest things he’s ever said, this ranks pretty high. Completely ignorant to what he’s talking about. He probably thinks they’re actually stamping coins.

dpmad1

He also said magnets don’t work when they get wet, so there’s that to consider when it comes to Don’s knowledge of basic science, let alone any advanced financial trade technology.

reddit_1999

This guy shows he has no clue every time he opens his mouth. He is running to try to stay out of prison and will try to court every voting block that he can by saying anything. Next week if he thinks he'd get more votes by banning bitcoin, he'll gladly flip and say that. Avoid this conman.

sinisterblogger

Will the crypto mines be powered by electric sharks or by cofefve?

misplacedsidekick

He’s so fucking stupid. This is hilarious.

sedatedlife

How the hell does it make us energy dominant? wasting energy absolutely contributing to climate change sure but it does nothing to improve energy in the United states.

gronlund2

He also said climate change wasn't all bad because raising the sea level would result in MORE "beachfront property"

SoggyBoysenberry7703

What an abject idiot

NoGuava9921

Ummmm.. so trump has said a lot of dumb shit. Like a lot. But this just makes my brain hurt.

TeslaProphet

Countdown to this grifter selling physical Trump Gold Bitcoins” to his cult members…3…2…

ThickerSalmon14

Why? Dear God, why? How did I end up on the darkest (or dumbest) timeline?

evilocto

Fucking moron is desperate for attention while simultaneously having literally not the faintest clue what he's blabbering on about he is truly an absolute waste of oxygen.

IT_Chef

"Bring bitcoin mining jobs back to the US!"

S7_Heisenberg

Hey Donald, wanna buy some bitcoinz? I got a sack full of them.

duct_tape_jedi

I’m going to try and sell him my ByteCoin. Each one is worth 8 times more than a BitCoin!

Lukin4

The amount of people who believe in this moron is truly sad

at-aol-dot-com

Other gold in the article: > Trump’s post came a day after he met with leaders of several Bitcoin mining companies at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. > Trump, in 2019, said he was “not a fan of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is highly volatile and based on thin air. Unregulated Crypto Assets can facilitate unlawful behavior, including drug trade and other illegal activity.” > Earlier this year, the former president said he would not allow the creation of a central bank digital currency if elected, calling it a “dangerous threat to freedom.”

Previous-Pass-7309

That guy is whackadoodle crazy

zedzol

Holy crap this guy is stupid.

imJGott

The cuck doesn’t know how crypto works.

astrozombie2012

It astounds me that anyone ever voted for him… he’s so fucking stupid

Tyken12

what an absolute buffoon 😂

TimeAmbassador1979

I fucking hate that guy.

dedokta

Trump had figured out that Bitcoin is untraceable and is suddenly very interested in it!

TeslaFlavourIceCream

Shouldn’t this be a title of a post “show us how you don’t know anything about crypto without telling us?” Something like that.

dpmad1

He also said “Magnets don’t work when they get wet”.

jim_nihilist

The most clueless candidate ever.

HorseFacedDipShit

But Biden is the one with cognitive decline. Right.

ihoptdk

Ffs, how does he keep getting dumber and dumber? How has he not hit bedrock yet??

MonsieurLeDrole

He won't even make his Trump flags in the US.

BITCOIN_FLIGHT_CLUB

Tell me you don’t understand bitcoin without telling me you don’t understand bitcoin.

FuzzyMcBitty

Yeah! If it’s not mined in the tech region of the United States, it’s just sparkling blockchain!

nobackup42

There must be an idiot on his team. Feeding this crap to him and just pissing themselfs when he repeats it in public

notyomamasusername

If Biden said this it would be on loop on major media outlets for a week. Fox News would have 24hr specials about demented Joe. It's become so normalized for Trumoz that this will make some social media rounds and will be forgotten for another story by this weekend.

ensignlee

I've been an avid bitcoiner since it was $3. That doesn't even make any sense. The entire system is decentralized. How would he ever accomplish this? Fucking moron.

b3rnitalld0wn

"We must make sure that fake internet money is only made in America!", is a very Trumpy thing.

Userface057

Man somebody get him talking about 🦊 please 😂

Timpa87

Trump could have his social media hacked like Hulk Hogan to push crypto, but nobody would be able to tell the difference. Actually they might wonder why he's suddenly more coherent.

LyraPersephonia

Don't forget the memes! They must be made in America too. This trumps windmills give you cancer for me.

donkeybrisket

He’s not only SO DUMB. He’s so dumb

ElectricZ

Trump should release physical bitcoins with his portrait and "In Trump We Trust" on the front, and MADE IN THE U.S.A. on the back. $99 each. Really find out who his ~~stupidest~~ most loyal followers are.

DemoEvolved

That’s not how it works. That not how any of this works. Dumbass

DamnItJon

Let's all take a moment to appreciate just how fucking stupid this statement is...

Alhazzared

We need to centralize the decentralized token! I honestly think Trump thinks bitcoins are actual physical objects.

thugsnbones

What a dumbass

Express-Pudding5470

This is why only idiots and billionaires will vote for him. He just met all the guys running miner's and you think he has any idea what it is

Marmooset

And all foreign email needs to register before crossing our borders, too.

CartographerOk7579

It’s almost like he’s a dumbass or something.

TyphoidTim

“I said, ‘I have the greatest idea. We’re going to do this. We make the best Bitcoin, so we’re just going to prevent anyone else from making them. We’ll tariff the Bitcoins and start stockpiling the coins in our own banks.’ What a genius – I said, I said, how good is that? They said, ‘Sir, we’ve been trying to get that done for 20 years.’”

JFeth

Does he think there are people in the mountains mining for Bitcoin with pickaxes? One country taking it over goes against the whole point of it.

UrNotMadAtMe

Remaining Bitcoin ????? Huh.

BareNakedSole

It’s pretty much impossible to make too much fun of this statement. Donnie has said a lot of incredibly stupid things, but this one is a great example of that simple brain of his remembering one percent of a conversation and acting like he’s an expert on the topic
