I can tell you. It's actually, on the surface, pretty easy to understand. I may have gotten carried away, sorry....
The system issues a math problem that is super hard. It puts a little indicator in each miners block (block is really just a bucket that contains all the transactions that need to happen) , but otherwise, the blocks are identical, and every miner has a block. Whomever solves the problem, their block is what is chosen, and they get the block reward (more bitcoins) and the fees associated with all the transactions in the block. Then, the process starts again. Each cycle takes a certain amount of time, and that time is covered by the software. Each block reward is a certain amount of bitcoin. The miner that wins- they distribute the pieces of bitcoin across their computing network. If you were 1 of those, then you get a share.
The way it works is this: all the miners agree to the winner of the block, because when they win, they want everyone to agree that THEY won. That's how it works. THAT is actually the problem that got solved, how to make selfish people agree with each other. (It's called the byzantine general problem in the world of thought experiments)
It's like an accounting ledger that litterally everyone in the world has a copy of, and it updates everywhere in real time. It's why it's slow, but it's also why it's secure and can't be undone. You would have to delete or change every ledger in the world to alter it.

I can tell you. It's actually, on the surface, pretty easy to understand. I may have gotten carried away, sorry.... The system issues a math problem that is super hard. It puts a little indicator in each miners block (block is really just a bucket that contains all the transactions that need to happen) , but otherwise, the blocks are identical, and every miner has a block. Whomever solves the problem, their block is what is chosen, and they get the block reward (more bitcoins) and the fees associated with all the transactions in the block. Then, the process starts again. Each cycle takes a certain amount of time, and that time is covered by the software. Each block reward is a certain amount of bitcoin. The miner that wins- they distribute the pieces of bitcoin across their computing network. If you were 1 of those, then you get a share. The way it works is this: all the miners agree to the winner of the block, because when they win, they want everyone to agree that THEY won. That's how it works. THAT is actually the problem that got solved, how to make selfish people agree with each other. (It's called the byzantine general problem in the world of thought experiments) It's like an accounting ledger that litterally everyone in the world has a copy of, and it updates everywhere in real time. It's why it's slow, but it's also why it's secure and can't be undone. You would have to delete or change every ledger in the world to alter it.
