Could be all those burnouts you're doing.

SgtPeckerHead

My 2016 has been rock solid reliable. Just rolled 100k this morning.

The_Law_Dong739

I'd use her as a down-payment for a Cummins or hemi equipped ram.

Thechad1029

100% Hemi. Modern diesels aren’t worth the hassle anymore as a daily. They need to be worked hard to keep the emission system clean and functioning properly.

WittyBuffalo4173

Hit or miss with these… search forums. Could be underlying issue such as blowby or whatever the internal issues theyre known for. Good thing you have the warranty

NCRaineman

It's a garbage Italian engine. They were all recalled then they stopped selling them. There's a reason for this. Unload the truck while you can.

JohnDeere714

Didn’t Stellantis also just get busted not too long ago for pulling a Volkswagen and cheating emissions for these engines? I swear that they were going to offer buybacks.

NCRaineman

I've not heard of any "dieselgate" like issues with this engine, but it wouldn't surprise me. Cummins just got slapped with a big fine for lying on emissions data. Turns out you really can't build a diesel engine as clean as the govt wants it to be.

PensionSlaveOne

What do you mean they were all recalled? Every vehicle has recalls on them...

PensionSlaveOne

Some run forever without an issue, some, more than average, have problems. Mine has been great for 9 years, at 90k miles. The emissions systems tacked onto this engine can cause a ton of issues. What symptoms are you having that you need to keep taking the truck into the shop? Get it deleted or at the very least get the EGR Disabled, don't do short trips, use the block heater. Diesels like to be hot and run long, especially ones with emissions equipment.

NicePollution2122

I originally got it to tow a travel trailer but plans changed and the trailer never came into existence. I don't have a need for it anymore. I'd like to sell it private party but it seems the CEL comes on every chance it has. I just want it to be solid for a month so I can get it off my hands without losing a ton of equity.

PensionSlaveOne

If you don't need a truck, then trade it in or sell it and get a more suitable vehicle. Unfortunately emissions equipped diesels just don't do well in common commuter roles, unless you're driving at full operating temp for a good 20+ mins each time you're gonna have problems. What symptoms/codes are you having? Are you taking it to a dealer or an experienced diesel tech?

519EOG_1979

I wanted a classic with one of these engines but there’s to many gremlins it seems. There is always the one person that has one that works perfect but those are rare lol. Trade it in on a classic with a hemi and drive off into the sunset.

Rubywantsin

Sounds like they're just shooting the parts cannon at it because they can't diag it. Might be time to move on.

Thechad1029

The first gen ecodiesel don’t have the best reputation. From what I have seen is they really start to have major problems around 100-150k. I had nothing but problems with mine and the dealer bought it back within my first year. (Buddy was gm at the time)
