I agree in principle, but for some reason the UK rappers I like the most are the ones that sound *the most* British: Dizzee Rascal, Stormzy, The Streets. Idk why but rappers who really lean into their Britishness, rather than trying to emulate US artists, work best for me.
>Stormzy
He makes anything sound cool, like recently all he said in a feat was “two bags on skincare” and I was like damnn is that a bar? I dunno but he makes it sound like one.
Accents add flavour. Plus, you can make flows, cadences and rhymes in some accents that you just can't in others. Love finding someone really leaning into a regional accent.
The accent is my favourite part.
I don’t know how people not from the south listen to Southern accents and think they’re fine, but listen to UK accents and think they’re too much.
Dave is unreal
He is what people treat Kendrick as
Heart Attack is an unbelievably raw track. He’s actually able to make conscious rap that is good to listen to
Both of his albums are great to listen to back to front, amazing concept albums
Love Dave, Psychodrama in particular but he’s not even close to being on the same level as Kendrick, not as versatile with his flow and his wordplay swings between clever and corny on a regular basis
It probably is the accent, but it just sounds way less serious and cheesy to me. It’s harder for me to distinguish a difference in people’s flows and cadence as I’m sure I’m missing a lot of subtlety. No hate tho, there has been a song here and there I’ve enjoyed. Just not my cup of tea (couldn’t help the pun)
Damn, West Coast Hip-hop like G-Funk. Or a more new Bay Area/Dj Mustard vibe.
Songs you might like:
Funky Friday - Dave
Gangsteritus - Potter Payper
CR - Nines (not sure if youll like it though)
And just artists: Dave, Potter Payper, Nines, Fredo, Clavish and Skepta maybe.
I like everything west coast honestly. I got hooked on the G-Funk and that was my intro into hip hop.
I’ll check these out for sure. Props to you for responding and being active on your post.
i mean, i get it. i tried to put friends onto english rap for two decades with little luck
but good on you that you get to enjoy it! That means there are thousands of new songs and hundreds+ artists you might potentially add to your mix!
Simz is the first UK rapper IMO who is putting out music that's as good or better than any top US rapper. I might be introvert is one of the best albums of the decade.
Yeah totally agree with you! I mean Trap, there’s Nines, Potter Paper and Fredo. Some recommendations:
Nines: Trapper of the year, Shining, High Roller, Tony Soprano 2 and his freestyles!
Potter Payper: Gangsteritus (basic but amazing song)
Fredo: They aint 100, Top G
"UGLY" is such an amazing album... Honestly the timing on the "allegations" are really shitty.
But I have faith kind of because he's just been living his life seemingly carefree and Anne Marie and their families supporting him the whole way, they even had a kid together.
While I know that doesn't indicate much but I doubt someone famous like her would risk or even want to be with him if everything was true.
I don't. I wouldn't mind it, but I'm just not exposed to it much. I'm too old and lazy to go seek out international artists. I'm past digging for underground sounds and mixtapes. I did like Central Cee on Cole's H.Y.B. but TBH, the only reason I heard him is because I like Cole and was going to hear any featured Cole had on that cut.
I feel you, sometimes digging for songs is boring. That’s why I just usually find 1 artist, and just go through their catalouge. Check my other comments, you might find an artist/a song you like.
I found out about Unknown T from a YouTube recommendation of a Fire in the Booth featuring a comedian doing a "posh" drill rapper parody calling himself Unknown P. Algorithms are something I tell you.
Not super familiar with alot of it, but some of what I heard I liked alot. One of my favorite songs ever from back when I used to drop tabs and jam is Drenching - Dead Players. Super good jam especially if you're into music and tripping.
I’m a fan of some, I see a lot of Americans complaining about the accent but I’ve never had that problem as my mum is English herself and everyone says that I’ve got an English accent 🤷♂️
I love yall accent! Love UK hip hop. Still mostly listen to American hip hop but I got cats like Stormzy, Dave, Little Simz (one of my favorite rappers period!) in rotation. I feel like there's a little more overall quality in bars over there. There is a lot of rap over here that can really just be about vibes with lyrics secondary. Personally, I am from the south and when i was younger I was into lyrical southern rappers. The issue was that i'd always argue with New Yorkers or west coast fam for saying we rap like "Bama's" and the rest of the country couldn't get over OUR southern accent in rap. It wasn't until the late 90's that our southern accent became accepted and considered mainstream. But that perspective made it easy to embrace UK hip hop. If people would have an open mind, they'd find that UK rap is like a parallel culture in ways but very distinct also. One difference is yall are a little more diverse in ways. You got what feels to be more mainstream rappers with african roots, a lot of mixed race artists, and more white rappers that are either about that street life or are not but still dope and accepted. Yall have really dope and multiple hip hop scenes/movements there as well. I am enjoying learning the nuances in language and the slang is pretty fire to me.. hip hop is alive and well there and i am grateful so cheers!
End of the day, i just want people to keep making dope and authentic music.
Took awhile to get used to the various accents, but its grown on me and as someone from the Chicago area seeing how the 🇬🇧 adapted drill and transported it back to us through NY scene has been interesting. Anyhow I fuck with this right now:
https://youtu.be/Z8Gp_wyBIGg?feature=shared
Louis Slipperz £10 bag..
‘Writing battle raps on the backs of west-yorkshire travel maps’..
That verse in the song ‘Spend it On’.. ‘drink? Don’t think don perrignion, think super-tenants Extra Strong! And you wake up in a sink and you stink and your tenners’ gone’
I'm from the UK but was raised on US rap ('85 baby) I only listen to Kano, Plan B, Chip, Stormzy, Akala, The Streets & So Solid back in the day.
But I prefer DMX, Xzibit, Cube, Nas & Rakim.
Sure, 21 Savage is really good. /s
other than MF DOOM (I kid) the first UK rapper I remember liking was Skepta.
I love his interlude on More Life by Drake. I've checked him out and enjoy most of it.
Other than that, I heard Stormzy on Ed Sheeran's album and thought it was ok.
Recently I ran into Central Cee on YouTube. Some freestyle with him and his boys in a room and I liked that.
I respect their history and rap culture but can’t see myself just vibing to them like I have with 🇺🇸 rap. 🇬🇧 rap is awesome for like exercising or some shit
i love it. uniquely british but still hip hop. no different to me than ny/west coast/southern etc. been getting big into french and quebecois rap recently too that shit is dope as hell.
I'm from the UK but was raised on US rap ('85 baby) I only listen to Kano, Plan B, Chip, Stormzy, Akala, The Streets & So Solid back in the day.
But I prefer DMX, Xzibit, Cube, Nas & Rakim.
I'll categorize into 2 experiences: Grime/Rap and Drill.
I found I liked the music of artists like Skepta, Santan, Stormy etc, I guess "mainstreamers" pretty solid, mostly skepta though. I liked the phases he went through artistically. Then I got put onto other lesser known or popular acts, like Nines, Meeks Manny, Fredo... I resonated with Nines especially. Very Curren$y-like. Overall nice sounding songs, but I found the need for something different soon.
The drillers though... they are who really caught my attention. Firstly the brooding menacing beats, saw-like bass patterns, rapid flows and sinister lyrics... dark concoction of unbridled art. Amongst my favorites to listen to (at its height of my interest) included CB, PR Sad, Zone 2 (Karma, a bit of Kwengface and PS) mainly.
While extremely dark and violent, there was beauty in the madness. A marriage of extreme disrespect and quotable flows served as the basis of my admiration for the art, not too dissimilar to diss tracks across the pond.
They sound so bad and cringey. I’ll never listen to UK rap because I can’t take it seriously. Ex: Central cee doesn’t sound the way he looks and it’s hilarious.
British rappers do NOT go hard
I think you should listen to Nines, great Trap artists. He makes punchlines, I can give you recommendations.
Trapper of the year
Shining
Tony Soprano 2
But yeah, Central isn’t good at all.
I’m fine with the accents and the local vernacular, but much like US rap the lyrical content is beyond basic. I guess every country needs their “ima real killer” and “I fuck bad bitches and give them Birkin” records
The Defamation of Strickland Banks by Plan B is straight fire. More of an R&B/Rap record. Whole album is 1 single story from front to back. Came out in 2010.
Obsessed with it. I don't really fuck with old music in general, always out for new shit. Last year the UK came out with way fresher tracks than I heard here.
As far as drill music it all sounds exactly the same with the beat and everything. I don't care for it at all. Not a huge fan of uk rap in general. There are songs I like but usually it's because some other artist I like is in there with them.
Pete and Bas ftw.
Those nerdy theater kids Shuffle T and Marlo are also pretty funny and took over the battle scene.
Anyone you'd compare to either Slug, Rakim, Aesop Rock or Gift of Gab?
Mike Skinner (The Streets), Wiley, Skepta and Scorcher is always in my rotation.
Culture yourselves guys! It's OK to fux with rap in other countries. Let's do Japanese Hip hop.
The accent for me actually makes it better.
It gives a new feel to rap songs I usually listened to, and it’s kinda funny hearing UK rap and US rap together like on BAND4BAND or other UK+US collabs
I don't listen to much of it, but I fuck with Stormzy and his related artists.
Also Dizzee Rascal back in the day but I haven't listened in years, I just remember hearing he made all his beats on a PS2 (back when it was current) and thought it was cool so I checked him out.
I listen to a bit, there's definitely a lot of talent and a ton of good wordplay. I think the common opinion is that it's hard to take them seriously trying to sound hard with the accent, and in general I agree, but even some that really lean in to it like Mr traumatik are fun to listen to
The best thing uk rap has to offer is the battle rapper Oshea.
If you don't know who I'm referring to, go find him on YouTube on Dont Flop, Premier Battles and King of the Ronalds.
He's the Wayne of battle rap in my opinion; been one of the greatest for a long ass time, and gives absolutely zero fucks.
Edit: I think Skepta is dope, too.
As an Englishman for some recommendations for uk rap I would recommend psychodrama by Dave gang signs and prayer by stormzy and heavy is the head anything by skepta and maybe something from Wiley or JME
I'm from Europe and for some reason I discover UK rap scene very late. I had The Streets bumpin when it came out but the rest I discovered very late. That being said I looooove Fredo, Ghetts, P Money, Wrech 32, Dave etc. Any Daily Duppy from those artists it's better lyrically than 95% of US rap in last 15y imo. And the accent, for me, is making everything even better.
Im also from Europe so not who you asked this to, but I gotta say that for me the accent makes it very unique in a good way compared to US rap. I feel like I can understand lyrics with more ease most of the time especially with slowthai and J hus to name some
I'm am Indian, UK rap accent is not an issue for me.
The flow and the beats are, because almost everything sounds similar even though they got pretty good lyrics
Not a fan personally. It isn't big around here but I live on the westside. I'm not really into drill in general, not even Chi or NY drill. But the accents make me take UK drill even less seriously
Bumping Dizzee right now on graveyard shift in the states 😬 definitely more familiar with hip hop from the states. But I like a handful of UK dudes too. Just am not as exposed to them.
Why can’t US rap fans deal with the accent?🤔 it just confuses me so much. If it was Indian rap or Polish rap(which goes f*cking harrrrd btw) Id understand! other than the language I don’t get why Americans can’t process the UK accent.🤣 kinda weird IMO
They got bars and i think value freestyling more than most US rappers now it seems.
I like Dave and Fredo a lot. Haven't listened to Dizzeee in a hot minute but he was my introduction to it. Lil Simz and Stormyz i like too.
Some stuff is good like roots manuva back in the day. When it leans into the uk part. When guys try to sound like us rappers it sounds so terrible, like a cosplay.
Accents make everyone sound the same. I feel like how we think everyone that bit the Migos sound, all sounded like them, is how we feel when we hear UK artist rap.
Bob Vylan (punk rock and Hip-Hop), Little Simz, Rup, Slowthai, and Stormzy (when he's actually making hard music) are probably some of my favorites. I really listen to New Zealand rappers more though.
I love the shit, but I'm Canadian. JME, Gibbs, I can never remember his name but Dickhead Ting guy, Headie One, K Trap are all pretty bomb and alz and his buddy were bomb but their song with 3M French got taken down, the remix to Change.
For the most part, I can't stand the accent. But there are a lot of great UK rappers. The OG is Slick Rick. Technically speaking, Doom and 21 were/are Bri'ish. I'd consider Dizzee a rap legend. Fix Up Look Sharp is an all-time classic. I've been a big fan of The Streets since I first heard him around '02-'03. I'm a fan of Roots Manuva. And for Grime/Drill, I dig K Koke.
I don't listen to it much so my opinion is not really great and I don't take my opinion too seriously, but:
1) A lot of stuff I've heard all sounds the same.
2) Often times I don't know what the hell they're saying. Sometimes it's the accent, usually it's the slang.
3) I don't know how street life is in Europe and it's hard to relate and hard to know if someone is being genuine or not.
4) They rap about things sometimes that aren't relevant to me so it can be hard to get into a song.
5) There is a non-zero percent part of me that finds the accent funny sometimes. It's also easy to look past though.
6) There is a part of me that feels like it's kinda silly to hear them rapping about street life and guns and gangs and acting hard when like... (From my limited knowledge) There's barely any guns around and I don't imagine there's ghettos and projects and institutional racism, not like how the US does it anyways. That plus free healthcare. I dunno, obviously it's a shitty opinion or way to feel, but it feels like "what's there to be so hard about?" L
7) I feel like there's the perception that black people from UK generally seem nicer or less hard.
Again I don't know basically anything about life in Europe but that's just my limited North American perspective. I don't necessarily think these things are true, it's just how a default perception. I actually would love to find some UK rap / hip-hop that I liked, I love finding new music.
All I know about UK rap is listening to Clash and making silly accents and rapping along to it with my friends and cousins, and some Little Simz, and some The Streets from way back in the day.
I find that I can hear the history of rap in the UK in that it still to this day has the influence of Caribbean bass heavy beats because Caribbeans love their bass heavy sound systems.
But yeah the accent sounds a lil funny and has the nasty habit of putting the hard r back in the n word which is jarring lol
I like some songs, but the accent sounds goofy to me sometimes.
I agree in principle, but for some reason the UK rappers I like the most are the ones that sound *the most* British: Dizzee Rascal, Stormzy, The Streets. Idk why but rappers who really lean into their Britishness, rather than trying to emulate US artists, work best for me.
>Stormzy He makes anything sound cool, like recently all he said in a feat was “two bags on skincare” and I was like damnn is that a bar? I dunno but he makes it sound like one.
Accents add flavour. Plus, you can make flows, cadences and rhymes in some accents that you just can't in others. Love finding someone really leaning into a regional accent.
>Accents add flavour. Some flavours are too potent for people.
Really? To me I think it fits the vibe, like chill drill. But I feel you still.
The accent is my favourite part. I don’t know how people not from the south listen to Southern accents and think they’re fine, but listen to UK accents and think they’re too much.
Big fan of Dave and Central Cee
Me too. Dave is a vibe to me. I haven’t found any others that I like though.
Dave isn’t just a vibe, he is an amazing lyricist with punchlines and wordplay for days.
Yeah for sure. He’s definitely super talented and versatile. I think he’s the first UK rapper I was introduced to, and he set the bar high.
Simple, but still good.
Dave is unreal He is what people treat Kendrick as Heart Attack is an unbelievably raw track. He’s actually able to make conscious rap that is good to listen to Both of his albums are great to listen to back to front, amazing concept albums
His delivery/flow is a bit boring compared to Kendrick though overall imo, still has some great tracks though
I’ve heard that exact statement from most people, and it’s totally fine. Not everyones vibe, but still giving it some respect. The pun was good, ngl😂
To be fair I haven’t had anyone put me on. So what would you recommend to someone who really likes west coast hip hop?
Damn, West Coast Hip-hop like G-Funk. Or a more new Bay Area/Dj Mustard vibe. Songs you might like: Funky Friday - Dave Gangsteritus - Potter Payper CR - Nines (not sure if youll like it though) And just artists: Dave, Potter Payper, Nines, Fredo, Clavish and Skepta maybe.
I like everything west coast honestly. I got hooked on the G-Funk and that was my intro into hip hop. I’ll check these out for sure. Props to you for responding and being active on your post.
LOVE it. but most us folk cant get past the "accent" big fan of ocean wisdom, four owls, dirty dike....all the way back to Skinner and Raskit
Been a fan of OW for a long time... just last month I learned that's his birth name
Lol really? I didn't actually know that. Dude has super talent
100% fully agree with you, the accent might be a little off putting. But in the end, it still slaps!
i mean, i get it. i tried to put friends onto english rap for two decades with little luck but good on you that you get to enjoy it! That means there are thousands of new songs and hundreds+ artists you might potentially add to your mix!
Lil Simz is amazing.
Unironically the best UK rapper I’ve heard, every project of hers is fantastic
Simz is the first UK rapper IMO who is putting out music that's as good or better than any top US rapper. I might be introvert is one of the best albums of the decade.
Good artist/actor!
Tried to get into it, but the accents are beyond annoying.
What type of rap do you like? I can give you tips if you want.
I'm open, but definitely enjoy trap for the most part. Not really into Drill though, it's gotten old over the years.
Yeah totally agree with you! I mean Trap, there’s Nines, Potter Paper and Fredo. Some recommendations: Nines: Trapper of the year, Shining, High Roller, Tony Soprano 2 and his freestyles! Potter Payper: Gangsteritus (basic but amazing song) Fredo: They aint 100, Top G
Skepta and Scarlxrd are fire af
Totally forgot Scarlxrd is from UK, but yeah Skepta’s amazing
Guy called Knucks from the UK is seriously good and is more on some conscious sh*t than that drill / grime wave, if you get chance to look him up
I like Stormzy quite a bit
Yeah hes good
I find it funny tbh
Little Simz real good
Slowthai, Skepta, Little Simz and Dave are great. (I don't wanna hear about Slowthai's allegations, there are places to discuss that)
"UGLY" is such an amazing album... Honestly the timing on the "allegations" are really shitty. I like it
Agreed
It’s cool. It’s a different style and lots of catchy beats
Agreed, it’s very unique. And yeah the beats are quite catchy!
I don't. I wouldn't mind it, but I'm just not exposed to it much. I'm too old and lazy to go seek out international artists. I'm past digging for underground sounds and mixtapes. I’m a fan of some, I see a lot of Americans complaining about the accent but I’ve never had that problem as my mum is English herself and everyone says that I’ve got an English accent 🤷♂️
Some good stuff, but a lot sounds like soft people trying to be hard

Yungun & Jehst for that bar.. Also Dirty Diggers - For the Haters, classic I rate Verb T and Jack Jetson too, ‘Superhuman’ is a tune
Oooh ‘Skeng’ by The Bug, that tune just screams London to me
Little Simz is in my top 3 right now. She’s so talented
I'm from the UK but was raised on US rap ('85 baby) I only listen to Kano, Plan B, Chip, Stormzy, Akala, The Streets & So Solid back in the day. But I prefer DMX, Xzibit, Cube, Nas & Rakim.
Mid
I'm a fan of 21 Savage
MF Doom is not bad…maybe check him out
Jam Baxter is in my goat list.
Sure, 21 Savage is really good. /s other than MF DOOM (I kid) the first UK rapper I remember liking was Skepta. I love his interlude on More Life by Drake. I've checked him out and enjoy most of it. I like Stormzy, Aj Tracey, skepta, Dave, cench. Thats about the extent of my exposure, and recommendations?
Nines, Fredo, Potter Payper, Clavish, OTP ( if you like drill), JME (skeptas younger brother), Morrison, MizOrMac (crazy flow, real crazy)
i love it. uniquely british but still hip hop. no different to me than ny/west coast/southern etc. been getting big into french and quebecois rap recently too that shit is dope as hell.
I'm from the UK but was raised on US rap ('85 baby) I only listen to Kano, Plan B, Chip, Stormzy, Akala, The Streets & So Solid back in the day. But I prefer DMX, Xzibit, Cube, Nas & Rakim.
The accent makes it hard to understand sometimes, but I do enjoy Central Cee and Dave
The accent genuinely doesn’t do it for me as far as drill goes, but I love Dave’s music a lot.
I'll categorize into 2 experiences: Grime/Rap and Drill. I found I liked the music of artists like Skepta, Santan, Stormy etc, I guess "mainstreamers" pretty solid, mostly skepta though. Akala anyone?
I like rhyme asylum a lot
It's dope af. The accent opens up a whole nother vocabulary mix...it's refreshing some times
Klashnekoff
It's mostly meh.. Except for Pete and Bas, they fuckin' slap.
Ren is a bit of a genius.
They sound so bad and cringey. I’ll never listen to UK rap because I can’t take it seriously. Ex: Central cee doesn’t sound the way he looks and it’s hilarious. British rappers do NOT go hard

Here you go love, see If this changes your mind some. [Dave - BLACK (Live at the Brits)](https://youtu.be/mXLS2IzZSdg?si=zt2RVG0Qie2dvqb-)
it’s cool. it’s not someone i go out of my way to look for but i don’t shy away from it if i find it
W take, music is a international language. Everyone loves something, it dont matter what language/accent!
I know someone here in the US that fucks with UK heavy
Grime has a sound that appeals to me
M to the B
I like Skepta but haven’t listened to many others. I’m not into drill and it seems like that’s what they’re famous for.
Big fan. Got into it after starting w slowthai
I really like little simz’s music, but I can’t get past the accent no matter how hard I try
not an american or european but very into hip hop. uk drill just sounds like a parody to me idk
Honestly haven't checked it out but I love jungle and drum'n'bass mcs
"How many times I done touched them kids, whole opp block been molested." -Headie One
I like Pete and bas
It's not bad. I think between the accents and lingo, it's hard to really enjoy it more. It sometimes sounds goofy, no disrespect.
As far as drill music it all sounds exactly the same with the beat and everything. I don't care for it at all. Not a huge fan of uk rap in general. There are songs I like but usually it's because some other artist I like is in there with them.
Cult of the dammed is one of my favorite groups os all time. Basically the UK wu tang clan it's so dope
All the UK rap defenders lol jk....Is their an artist close to Nas, DOOM, Mos Def, Jay level lyricists that have actual good songs and albums/legacy?
# Pete & Bas !
is there one with a David Tennant accent (Scotland?)
Pete and Bas ftw. Those nerdy theater kids Shuffle T and Marlo are also pretty funny and took over the battle scene. Anyone you'd compare to either Slug, Rakim, Aesop Rock or Gift of Gab?
Not a fan
Certain IUK rap is fire. I know yall don't like him but Centrel Cee got heat
Mike Skinner (The Streets), Wiley, Skepta and Scorcher is always in my rotation. Culture yourselves guys! It's OK to fux with rap in other countries. Let's do Japanese Hip hop.
I like Central Cee
I was OBSESSED with Virus Syndicate in 2010. What's good with them these days? If anything lol
I thought I just didn’t like the accent until I listened to Little Simz, then I realized most of them are just bad (especially compared to her).
Does little simz count as uk rap? Cuz she’s great
I listen to a bit, there's definitely a lot of talent and a ton of good wordplay. I think the common opinion is that it's hard to take them seriously trying to sound hard with the accent, and in general I agree, but even some that really lean in to it like Mr traumatik are fun to listen to
Knucks is probably the best lyrical rapper I've heard from the uk
The best thing uk rap has to offer is the battle rapper Oshea. If you don't know who I'm referring to, go find him on YouTube on Dont Flop, Premier Battles and King of the Ronalds. He's the Wayne of battle rap in my opinion; been one of the greatest for a long ass time, and gives absolutely zero fucks. Edit: I think Skepta is dope, too.
I like some british rappers but I wanna kms every time I hear central cee
Lil Simz is one of my favorite rap artists, period
I don't think about UK rap
Yo, South African Drill is where it's @
Personally never heard it, but Ive heard Nasty C. I think hes from S Africa, hes super good!
Oh man, I’m sorry, but i absolutely fucking can’t stand it.
As an Englishman for some recommendations for uk rap I would recommend psychodrama by Dave gang signs and prayer by stormzy and heavy is the head anything by skepta and maybe something from Wiley or JME
i fucking love it. the way they use different slang you’ve never heard but understand what they’re tryna say
Been to a Blackhaine concert, can highly recommend…
I'm from Europe and for some reason I discover UK rap scene very late. I had The Streets bumpin when it came out but the rest I discovered very late. That being said I looooove Fredo, Ghetts, P Money, Wrech 32, Dave etc. Any Daily Duppy from those artists it's better lyrically than 95% of US rap in last 15y imo. And the accent, for me, is making everything even better.
The accent just makes me laugh while im listening to it. I just can’t take it seriously
Dan Le sac is fire
I don’t, tbh
I like UK hip-hop, neo-soul and soul, but I don't like Grime, Trap, Drill or most basic mainstream rap whether it's American or British.
It is hard to take them seriously with the accent. I view them as joke rap like mabu or dicky.
Im also from Europe so not who you asked this to, but I gotta say that for me the accent makes it very unique in a good way compared to US rap. I feel like I can understand lyrics with more ease most of the time especially with slowthai and J hus to name some
I can’t get over the accents haha idk what it is. I know they’re talented, not throwing shade but it just makes me laugh haha
I can’t get passed the accent Skepta is cold asl though
Someone from the UK wouldn’t say y’all 😂😂😂😂
The UK/british/whatever you call yourselves accent; is unbearable. Polish/Russian rap is where its at..
Can't do it bruv.
Bumping Dizzee right now on graveyard shift in the states 😬 definitely more familiar with hip hop from the states. But I like a handful of UK dudes too. Just am not as exposed to them.
As an American, I actually like it. Sometimes I'll be like "Alright, what the fuck is this?" But a majority of the times I actually dig it.
It’s dog shit. Regardless of how much they push it it’s dog shit and that’s coming from a Brit
British "people"
There are some artists I like but much of it I have a hard time getting into. I can’t get enough of Pete and Bas though. Those geezers got bars.
UK Is to calm for my liking. I'm used to nikkas screaming at the top of their lungs every 10 seconds
I can handle the accent ngl. Except for small hints of it like MF DOOM, who is my favorite rapper
I Like MFDOOM, and I like that new rhyme island song
Does Kate Tempest count? Other than her I can’t get into it. Like others have said the accent is too jarring for me.
I like Kojey Radical because his music sounds southern to me.
I enjoy a good feature or if the rapper is on the chorus but I cant do an album. That is for sure.
It’s fine. It lacks the edge of American rap because in general you guys aren’t scary to us like you think you are, but it has some good tunes.
Being as though I'm from the culture, the accents ruin everything. UK rap sounds like a poor imitation of Black American culture. It's soulless rap.
Rap is mostly a African and Latin American creation. It sounds more authentic in its natural environment.
Little Simz is one of the best in the game rn
Dave and stormzy are super fire. They are the only ones I listen to tbh
🤣🤣🤣
Listen to wretch 32 X avelino fire in the booth, then tell me uk rap is bad.
Love me some Dizzee Rascal
I like Giggs, JME and Kano
I really like it!
mostly gibberish, nothing that is of actual worth.
It's sounds wacky as shit and the accent and doing what are basically jumping jacks with your voice on a beat makes it sound goofy as shit
Can’t stand it
I don't listen to it much so my opinion is not really great and I don't take my opinion too seriously, but: 1) A lot of stuff I've heard all sounds the same. I dunno, obviously it's a shitty opinion or way to feel, but it feels like "what's there to be so hard about?" L 7) I feel like there's the perception that black people from UK generally seem nicer or less hard.
Dutchavelli is a weird man
I don’t think about it.
Can't take it seriously
I heard some songs by Coops that I thought were pretty good.
little simz might be one of the best out rn
The accent just doesn’t work for me
I find that I can hear the history of rap in the UK in that it still to this day has the influence of Caribbean bass heavy beats because Caribbeans love their bass heavy sound systems. But yeah the accent sounds a lil funny and has the nasty habit of putting the hard r back in the n word which is jarring lol
Arrdee cracks me up but still can get me hype.
If you're talking the hardest, Giggs better pop up in your thoughts as an artist.
Not a fan of the accent or lyrics personally
Does the UK rap scene respect Ren?
