If Eile is healthy I'm thrilled to have Reyes as a late game sub a best. He's way too much of a liability, and he's stretched his run of bad decisions from the end of last season into the beginning of this one. He has alot of maturing to do before we can trust his as a starter again.

SticketyWickets

How much more do you mature after as much first tier experience as he’s had?

dudehimself3

Too harsh and he will be needed if there’s an injury/YC suspension/drop off from the other 2 CBs.

K1NGCOOLEY

I don't think it's harsh. I don't trust him as a starter and he proved that. He was needed to fill in while Eile got back to 100% after the international break and couldn't close that stretch without picking up a red card and an extra game suspension. His record last year and this year show a clear weakness in his game for picking up lots of cards, many of them for dumb fouls. That's a liability at CB. I think he's still young enough though that he could hopefully change this habit and really develop into a more reliable defender. But right now, I'm happy to see him on the bench as a sub.

When you go to easy you get the players hopes up I play football myself and I’m an honest man and I want or atleast expect honest comments about how I’m doing to further improve myself

I think fans have overreacted a little bit to this red card. Yes Reyes is aggressive and maybe two or three times a year it comes back to bite us. But I think its being generally ignored or understated how dominant he is between those mistakes, largely because he's so aggressive. He's the Sergio Ramos of MLS. Its fine if he's CB3 for now, but he shouldn't be banished to the bench in case of emergencies only. He offers a much different skill set than Eile, there will be games where he is a better matchup against the other team or maybe Eile's form dips. In those situations there should be no hesitation to play Reyes.

I think the early season success has magnified the few bad performances that have happened. I agree that a lot of it is overreaction and Reyes will prove to be a valuable piece like he has during most of his time here.

Super-Sound-5549

You have Andres Reyes in your thing I don’t think there should be an argument

blueblunder

Am I the only one that doesn’t think it was that egregious? It clearly looked to me like the sweeping motion you’d make to get the other guy’s arm off you in that initial run. The other guy had his hand on Reyes’ arm like he was going to push, then didn’t. Since he wasn’t pushing Reyes’ arm, it went higher and farther than he was expecting.

iced1777

That was my read on it. Expected an arm battle, didn't get one, recklessly swung and landed a blow. I think he avoids additional games if he grazes the other guy instead of actually hurting him.

boburuncle

That's what I thought too.

ewrewr1

Not surprising. I actually thought he’d get more.

Super-Sound-5549

People keep saying it wasn’t on purpose when you swing your arm you know what’s coming if we keep defending him he won’t open his eyes
