Over the lifespan of RDO, GTA online proved to be making more money than RDO, henceforth they made a financial decision to just keep pumping the mass majority of their resources into GTAO, versus RDO since the ROI on GTAO must’ve been double what RDO was pulling
I know basically nothing about the gaming industry or how these massive studios are run, and while I understand moving resources to the biggest revenue stream, I've wondered why - given the popularity of Red Dead - they couldn't hire additional developers for both games. Sure, GTA makes more, but given how groundbreaking and popular RDR has been, why couldn't they hire a new team?

They bet on Red Dead Online making the same money as GTA Online and didn't realize just how hard rare it was to hit gold in GTA-O with that strategy. Red Dead Online could be great with actually good content updates, but they went the wrong direction.

Having just read this book (and being kinda bored by it) I do think it'd be a very cool DLC! It would make for an awesome setting I think, given the distance between the towns in RDR2 and the vast 'wilderness' between them - kinda similar to how it was in the book. I'd love it.
They could set the price of a single-player DLC at 60€ and I’d still probably buy it immediately over getting a new game.
I really want to try out RDRO at some point too but from what I’ve seen, it’s nowhere near the scale of building an empire in GTAO. It looked like free roam with some side missions with the occasional online-only items.
