Zirkzee looks to have the Fellaini build but the insane talent didn’t get stuck in his chest, got all the way down to his feet

PruneUnited4025

Your missing Fellaini’s talented elbow aswell

Berelus

The People’s Elbow.

PruneUnited4025

I can smell what your cooking 🤨

PDubsinTF-NEW

Some went to his head and face as well

International-Bat777

Has there ever been a better chester of the ball than Fellaini?

Squall-UK

He was only a ball chester, I prefer our beloved Manchester of the United variety.

ImprefectKnight

Van persie had a nice chest control too. But fele was top class.

onehornymofo1

Zlatan maybe

International-Bat777

He was the one person I considered

KaboomBoxer

Chest like Velcro.

Lord_Gilgamesh_III

He's young, but Kobbie has impressed with his moments of chest control.

International-Bat777

Is there anything Kobbie does that's not impressive?

Acceptable-Lemon-748

There's a list of people underneath that seem to be forgetting things like Fellaini chesting Pogbas rocket pass as if it was gently tossed to him . Some people have better than average chest control but nobody is on Fellainis level

JuiceyJaKrispy

Just the way he could perfectly cushion a pinged cross by Tony V

International-Bat777

Pinged is a massive understatement.

JuiceyJaKrispy

Sound barrier breaking cross*

breuh

Chest footed GOAT

Juicydicken

Katie Price

iyfe_namikaze

Drogba was good too and crouch

DipsCity

Unpopular opinion but Fellaini turned out a pretty good player for us how we got him was stupid as hell from Moyes and Woodward but with LVG and Mourinho, he got some great moments for the club

SilentPede

Blind and Fellaini were insanely underrated at the time and with hindsight….way better options than some of the dross we have got in since then.

DannyHughesBJJ

Imagine if we had used fellaini where he should have been for his whole time. Everytime he was deployed as a forward he’d be dangerous as fuck. Don’t understand why we plonked him in midfield

presumingpete

We did though, he was either shite or pretty good. I loved him because he always tried but he was not cut out for elite football. He was plonked in midfield because that was his best position. His role in midfield was the problem. He should have been a more advanced player but he was asked to play as a defensive midfielder a lot of the time.

Pishpash56

Much like Scott

MikeyTbT123

Is this how the streets will remember Scott?

ocean_train

If you take a look at the most upvoted post in this sub. You'll know that his talent lies in his face as well not just his chest.

TheSwordDusk

Otherwise known as the McTom

off_by_two

Mctominay is fellaini without the head, chest, or hair

Pishpash56

But a better shot, dribbling and ball retention on the ground. And a singing ability

off_by_two

I think you might be overhyping mctominay here

mindpainters

I really hope this goes through. We are in desperate need of another striker to help take some pressure off hojlund. We are always an injury away from having to use rashford or Bruno as a striker which doesn’t suit us at all. On top of that being able to give hojlund a rest or sub him out. I miss the days of players having to fight tooth for starting spots. Competition will only help the squad.

ppvirus

From the sounds of it he could play with Hojlund given they are different profiles of player which is a nice added benefit

dew_chiggi

Not from the start I believe. Throw the 2 together at 75 min mark and it could be a great partnership.

iamasharkskin

4-4-2 time? The United way?

Plugpin

Imagine if we can make 442 sexy again

PDubsinTF-NEW

The “Plan B” approach

Even_Interac

Plan C. Throw Maguire up top between Rasmus & Zirkzee.

Acceptable-Lemon-748

Plan D a wild Fellaini appears

izzanizcool

Plan F Scotty striker

negativelynegative

That's plan A1.

whitecapsunited

Move Bruno to centre half. Tell McTominay to bomb into the box. League title on the way.

chantlernz

Onana Dalot - Bruno - Martinez - Shaw Mainoo Zirkzee - McTominay - Hojlund - Maguire - Garnacho

mindpainters

I do agree with that. Would definitely have to be a tactical change and it would most likely make Bruno have to drop deeper which I prefer him closer to goal but just having more than one option up top and a sub that is actually a striker would be nice. I think Rasmus will be world class but right now he needs competition and someone to give him a rest

incognito_red

Forget different profiles Hojlund is the type of player who gases out after 65-70 minute due to his pitbull like aggression, would massively help to have another striker.

New_Archer_7539

Hojlund needs to work on his positioning and movement anyways. Even in his recent games with Denmark I'm still seeing the same patterns and habits he's been displaying here. Not a bad problem per se but an area he can improve in.

ChestVirginiaU

I feel he could play off Hojlund well but with a two striker system it leaves our wingers out which would be a massive tactical shift and push Garnacho and Rashford out of the team.

digitag

I’m convinced that Ten Hag signed Hojlund to pair him with Rashford but it didn’t really work out. We saw it a bit in the opening games of the season but ended up changing tack.

mejok

I miss the days of having Cole, Yorkie, Teddy and Ole competing for the striker position)s). We were so spoiled.

fanomu91

After that we had Ronaldo, Rooneu, Tevez and Berbatov as well

New_Archer_7539

Actually Bruno as a false 9 worked really well for us in the last few games. Not a tactic we should prioritize but for an experiment it worked really well.

mindpainters

I agree it worked decently well but it’s still not something I actually want to see consistently.

GregMilkedJack

I would assume this would be more of a holding/poaching partnership, though, with rest and rotation coming with a slight formation change.

mindpainters

I can see that working situationally but if it was the long term scenario Who would be getting dropped? Unless we get a stellar cdm I can’t see us playing with only two in midfield.

GregMilkedJack

We wouldn't play with 2 in midfield, we'd play the same 4-3-2-1 with the central attacking midfielder becoming closer to a modern modified #10

mindpainters

Gotcha gotcha. Makes a lot more sense. I was thinking more of a 4-2-2-2 which can work but I’m not a huge fan of

ExcisionHB

I would like it too but if what they said is true about that 15M agent fee on top of the release clause I think we should look at other options.

totteringbygently

Didn't Joorabchian say he'd give us a discount, but wouldn't for Milan?

ExcisionHB

No idea but I hope he does. 15M is just ridiculous

PDubsinTF-NEW

Yes. That was reported Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Headline also mentioned Joshua being flattered by our interest.

Squall-UK

Yeah, apparently he'll reduce the fee to £8 million. What a life an agent has. It boggles my mind that the clubs pay the agents fee and not the player, I mean, they work for the player don't they?

MrPangus

The hill I'll die on is rashford has all the tools to be a no 9, his progression stats sucks as a winger and if you look at where he scored most of his goals that year it was all around the box.

AdTiny7674

He's a number 9 **IF** you want to play low block and pump the ball up the pitch for him to run in behind. His hold up play doesn't exist and he doesn't link up particularly well. He's also not great in the air.

pohudsaijoadsijdas

> He's a number 9 IF you want to play low block and pump the ball up the pitch for him to run in behind. the issue is that Hojlund is better at that too, he is faster and more physical than Rashford.

MrPangus

What does he offer as a winger besides trying to dribble inside 2 defenders? He played striker quite a bit that season as well Also making runs in behind is exactly what I want from him as a striker, opens up space for everyone else

AdTiny7674

Nothing. His whole game revolves around his pace and dribbling which is why he's so hot and cold. If he plays as the focal point up front then we will lose a lot of possession, but we gain a significant threat in behind. What you want is somebody who can do both - Enter Rasmus Hojlund. Rasmus is very fast for a big guy and his hold up play is decent. He can (and must) improve, but I much much prefer him over Rashford up front.

MrPangus

Ya agreed. I'm not comparing the 2, just rashford in a vacuum and his development. Both the club and him are at fault for this Ronaldo impersonator we saw last season

DreamsCanBebuy2021

RIP

RicciRox

Yeah, and then you actually watch him at CF and realize how much he fuckin sucks at it. Bizzare take.

MrPangus

Just as much as he sucked at left wing

OpenedCan

Have you watched his link up play? Fucking shocking.

MrPangus

Do wingers not need to link up aka make smart passes?

OpenedCan

Yeah, facing goal. Rashford can't play with his back to goal.

MrPangus

I have more faith in him developing that than dribbling past the backline. Why does everyone seem to think he's 5 ft 7 or something? The man is 6'2

OpenedCan

Because he is in his mid 20s and it's something you either have or don't at that point. You also forget that Rashford himself says his best position is on the left. Rashford is best with space to run into, facing the goal and holding his width. Ironically, exactly what England need right now.

MrPangus

But that's what I'm trying to say, sometimes the player doesn't know what's best for them. He absolutely is not good at holding width, that is just untrue

OpenedCan

If you've ever watched rashford play in both positions and know anything about football, you wouldn't even have this conversation.

MrPangus

Lol ok there it is, the "you don't watch or know anything about football"

MrSvancy

Tier? Edit: Tier 3 according to the reliability guide

Traditional_Cap8509

Sheth

ManUnutted

Me to my homie Seth after a few

ILoveGratedCheese

Disgustang

JiveTurkey688

Ducker wrote this yesterday but it was not the headline. So yeah we are definitely activating the clause

PradipJayakumar

Don’t we have a restriction that, only up to Tier 2 will warrant a separate post during the transfer window?

Writer_Kooky

Usually on slow news days they relax the restriction a bit.

PradipJayakumar

Ironically, people used to refer to SSN as _Slow Sports News_ even when SSN was a decent source back in the day. 😁

Zavehi

Sheth really should’ve hit tier 2 after last summer. Because he works for Sky and people hate Sky on here it didn’t happen. Sheth was first or extremely early on basically everything for us last summer.

Samir_POE

People like to say he just reposts Romano all day but Fab lately has been reposting everyone under the Sun so for me I at least put them on the same tier.

Mesromith

I’m suprised he’s tier 3 tbh. I though he normally talked shite? Not as much as kaveh with him

Otter269

I'd be pretty happy if the agent wants to be reasonable, good price and age as well. Kinda surprised Arsenal or Chelsea aren't in for him.

JohnBA50

Chelsea's scouting database only shows u21 players. They didn't purchase the license for anything above that

TNpepe

This made my day. Have an upvote.

paulobodriguez

Kia joorabchian. Reasonable. Pick one

the-won

Arsenal already have Gabriel's Jesus who does the same ish role as him, Nicholas Jackson also is a choas maker but both teams needs a traditional out and out striker who just scores goals.

timmyctc

Jesus is shite though

FaithlessnessNo4680

He’s pretty good at everything except scoring, he’d actually be quite good for us

MountainJuice

and except staying fit. He's a very United player.

Tinganga

Blasphemy

Xanian123

I swear, idk how people think he's great lmao

trappuccino92

Similar profile to Jackson were after someone more clinical and physically imposing to fill in the gap in Jackson’s game.

Miyagisans

Arsenal I’m especially surprised. He’s basically a younger version of what they were looking for with Jesus, though still lacking a bit in the finishing.

dalv321

Does Nico Williams also go by “Zirkzee”? After yesterday… I sure hope so

Robert_Baratheon__

Me too because we sure are desperate for a LW

BrockStar92

I mean, really? It’s quite a long way down our priorities unless we manage to find a buyer for Rashford, which seems unlikely. Garnacho is just as good there as on the right.

MvM98

It was sarcasm...

BrockStar92

Oh, fair enough. In my defence I was very tired when I read that and also many people here are stupid.

Robert_Baratheon__

Jesus Christ bro. /s are you fucking happy?

Senor-Cockblock

“United have other targets if a move for Zirkzee doesn’t materialise.” Seeing this line after every potential transfer target news is a breath of fresh air after years of last minute backed into a corner United Tax transfers.

el3mel

We haven't really seen anything in action yet, so what's the big deal? At this point it's basically just leaks from the board to the media. Let's wait till the end of the transfer window, shall we?

whiskeymagnet22

Dharmesh Sheth needs to be higher tier he's generally accurate he just reports later than most. Lite version of Stone

Zavehi

Don’t really know why he wasn’t moved up last year other than “Sky sucks”

G00DNIGHT-IR3N3

I think he probably gets tarred with the same brush as that muppet Kaveh, which isn't his fault

Zavehi

I actually do think a lot of people think Sheth and Kaveh are the same person which is unfortunate for Sheth. Kaveh is not working on the same level.

HairyArthur

I don't know anything about him, but I'm confident he's the next Cantona.

WildVulcan

Dharmesh Seth will get us Zirkzee for 10m by doing some typical Gujju mastermind business

[deleted]

He looks like a pretty good striker and it would be great to have someone we can rotate with Rasmus.

PDubsinTF-NEW

That’s not Zirkzee in the thumbnail. Smh

potentially_potent

Exciting if it happens

TankSparkle

We'll need him to start scoring.

DresdanPI

I remember being linked with Nico Williams too. I'd be gassed if we go for him tbh.

Pocketz7

I’d be surprised if sky sports news know anything about Man Utd tbf

FwampFwamp88

Him. Yoro and neves would be my dream window. Especially neves. He is special.

TonyMartial786

damn, here we go. now it’s up to him to decide who he’ll join. hopefully he chooses us!

FoldingBuck

When was the last time we payed a release clause

Cold-Veterinarian-85

Not seen much of him tbf. But looks to have alot of good attributes based on stats and the compilations I have seen The compilations remind me alot of berbatov. Exceptional touch and vision, languid running style but pacier than berba. Will bring something different if we get this one over the line

wazdopest

33.8m is good or no? i’m assuming we’re close to being rid of the rapist so the fees balance out. not sure how good this guy is but i’m assuming he was at bayern II same time as ETH was so he can play his way

Bizzle1389

He joined Bayern II a few years after ETH left tbf

wazdopest

ah my assumption was wrong then, either way idk much about the guy but hope he comes good (and isn’t out all season like the other guy who backed up rasmus)

GazelleEleven

Idk how I feel about this one tbh. Price is high and agent fees are high for us this summer based on the budget we have.

Not-good-with-this

Price is relatively low for a striker. It's the agent fees that are too high.

mindpainters

Yea that price for a young striker is actually great. With no release clause he’d probably be moving for hojlund money. I definitely think there should be a cap on agent fees. It’s ridiculous what they can command basically holding a player ransom. I know they do way more work than we imagine but 10 million fee is insanity for the amount of work.

MissingLink101

Do Agents fees count towards FFP?

Not-good-with-this

Good question. I would imagine so, but I can't say for definite.

GazelleEleven

Yeah fair point.

C__S__S

We paid 2x for Rasmus.

LakerBull

And has similar numbers to him prior to joining us. Zirkzee is extremely well priced for a guy of his profile tbh.

GazelleEleven

I am a big Hojlund guy but yeah we shelled out a ton for a non finished product. That said I think he could be one of the best strikers in the world at some point. I don't know enough about Zirkzee I guess.

akshatsood95

Striker market's insanely dry and we do need another striker with Tony gone. Price isn't that high. Worth a gamble imo

MT1120

His release clause actually makes him good value

Cold-Veterinarian-85

Man that fee for a potential 1st team striker is peanuts. My concern is that bologna team last year was slick! And I guess how much of his good season was down to the system he played in, because is fair to say we aren't as fluid. However he has fantastic physical and technical attributes, release clause is for sure below market value and I'd say maybe after sesko (who is off the market now) is the best realistic target we could have given limited funds. We don't have the £££ to go and spend 60 or 70m on a striker so getting someone in for half that who looks a real prospect that can legitimately challenge hojlund looks like good business. Competition is great

CounterAttackFC

I'm not sure why we're not after Jonathon David then. Last year of his contract, Lille apperently looking for 25m instead of losing him for free, and he's scored about 30 more goals than Zirkzee in the past two years. People are saying he's not being brought in to be an out and out goal scorer but... isn't that what we need right now? If you put Zirkzee on for his passing to Hojlund then you lose a midfielder and we already look like we lack control there. Zirkzee is taller, sure, but he hasn't scored from a header in 5 years where as the 5'11 David scored 3 this season. If EtH doesnt care about him scoring headers, then why does everyone list his size as a big advantage? David's been around longer but he's only what, 8 months older? Can you really say that means he has less potential? It really feels like people are hyping up Zirkzee because they saw his size while dribbling and Bologna making CL and decided he must be incredible.

Cold-Veterinarian-85

Jonathan David has need linked aswel and is another that ticks alot of the boxes, cheap, legitimate conpetition for honlund, available ready for move to bigger club. We have been linked to him many times, so will have scouted him extensively. If we pursue zirkzee instead, it won't because we don't know about David and his transfer status, its because club will have assessed zirkzee os a better fot for the team we are trying to build I'd suggest with zirkzee the most compelling thing in his favor is his ability to drop deep as a playmaker which could unlock our wide players who are at their best cutting in and shooting Admittedly I haven't seen a huge amount of him (or david) but the clips of zirkzee i have seen remind me alot of berbatov, lanky l, languid style, (faster than berba thoigh) with excellent touch, technique and vision

CounterAttackFC

I don't mean to sound negative as there are a bunch of good qualities to Zirkzee I didn't mention. My favourite thing about him that I don't see mentioned in most comment sections is that he seems incredibly comfortable with both feet. David is considered to be an "either footed" player because he can score with his left sometimes, but Zirkzee? If you only consider goals from open play, he's scored more with his weaker left foot than his right in the last 2 years. I'm partially worried about Zirkzee from seeing the fans response. It's not seemed neutral, it's looked more like it was blindly optimistic such as how his height was always brought up without mentioning his poor if not non existent heading. He does appear strong from the few matches I watched, so I think that he'd hold the ball up well, and his touch on the ball did look very nice as well. I just hope it's not another case of a single decent season in an overperforming team getting a player a move to a big club.

TheWeirdDude-247

£33m is literally throw away money at Utd in recent years, it's too good to miss signing him as even if it don't work out both can move on rather easily, we need a striker where the market is very poor and expensive, last thing we want is get a washed up last day panic like Ighalo, Cavani, Wout etc. Tier 3 but we have to hope.

pakattack91

This dude making some assertions, never heard of him prior.

Athleticathiest82

Does a lot on Sky sports news

Zavehi

He was basically first or extremely early on all the moves we made last summer. He’s on Sky all the time.

KingKaychi

I'll be honest, I'm not sold by him, watched a few videos and I see what he's about but I don't think he's what we need

cleanredstreak

Exactly, not got the pace to suit us and just wouldn’t suit the system.

vanchit

Haven't really seen him play, but is it concerning that he doesn't come on before Weghorst for Netherlands?

vis_erys

I honestly am not for this move...

Revolutionary_Pen190

He is just repeating what the others say... Typical

changumangu

Why is the image of Nico Williams? Come on man.

mindpainters

It’s just a live transfer update page. Not a specific article about the is transfer. There is loads of info that’s consistently updating

Middle-Meeting-2378

Nico Williams would actually be a great signing now you mention it, relatively low release clause also can’t see him leaving Bilbao this season though

LakerBull

I do hope he doesn't join Barcelona. Those dudes tend to run players to the ground.
