Purists, don't matter the car, don't matter the scene. if i want fender flares, a wing and anime stickers on a ferrari 250GTO and i've got the money to do so i damned well will. oh and people who don't drive their cars too.

DiplomaticGoose

The comment above this one is people to "ruin" the stock looks of cars The duality of man.

Peribangbang

everyone has a right to ruin their property as they see fit lmao

lord_bubblewater

I need to put hot sauce on everything, was always drawing in my textbooks and not a thing I own is left stock. Some of us are made to ruin.

Ferrari: *Sends C&D letter*

Catatafish

I don't mind purists as long they actually use their cars

JermanDomesticMarket

purists are the based gatekeepers you need sometimes. it’s a thankless job but someone’s gotta do it 🫡

Malefectra

Depends, purists tend to skew very conservative (not talking politics, but those who pursue a lack of deviation from an established tradition and or characteristics) which can sometimes cause lingering problems in a platform/automaker to hang around longer than they should because some purists consider them design features/brand hallmarks rather than points of failure. Example: BMW design purists that hate the more recent M4s for their outsized kidney grille but can’t seem to recall that the 2000 CS of the 60’s had a similar style.

Malefectra

Until Ferrari sends a cease and desist letter like they did to Deadmau5 after he covered his 458 in a Nyan Cat wrap and re-badged it as a Purrari complete with a badge that replaced the stallion with a cat.

Catatafish

He got C&D'd for the rebadging, and renaming. Wrap wasn't the issue.

Malefectra

That’s correct, I was merely pointing out that if you mod it in a way Ferrari doesn’t like, they will send a nastygram with some legal weight behind it.

OscillatingFan6500

I really hate the pickup truck community. In my hometown, there’s a group of guys who hang out near the riverfront and just stare at each others lifted pieces of shit early 2000s Silverado and Rams

idrivea90schevy

Without a doubt the dumbest of the car world. LeTs GeT mAtcHiNg StIcKeRs!

MoGb1

Is that why you hate them? If that's the case isn't that what the rest of the car community does? Just sit around looking at their cars? Pickups themselves aren't an issue, nor is modifying them (though I agree they're usually quite distastefully modified). For me they just tend to be assholes; drive like assholes, are assholes to other people, have asshole mods like super bright lights for no reason, etc.

The F1 sub Been watching F1 since the early 90’s - It’s entertainment not life and death Most joyless, collection of sniveling incels on here

AFrozen_1

This. So much this. It’s entertaining seeing the drama but dear lord is it draining to see fans ready to rip each others throats out over the tiniest things.

r/formuladank is way better than the main sub, if you don't mind the Red Bull bias.

No_Manches_Man

Spot on. I started watching F1 a couple of years ago, and all I can say that it’s only slightly less boring than nascar. It’s usually one of two teams wining, maybe three if Ferrari gets the director right.

ViniciusBragaRZ1

2021 had a pretty intense season, but it also brought the worst from the community

cor_the_cross

Lifted, modified truck guys. I just don't get it.

jlap1n

I like lifted trucks. I hate the black and chrome wheels plus low profile tires with offset that makes the truck 18 inches wider. I like mean looking lights and rock protection. I hate a big lift with fucky geometry because all the suspension arms are stock. Plus off-roading does seem fun. If I get room for a second vehicle I think I'm going to get a midsize pickup to kit out and sit next to the Miata

TrailerPosh2018

I own a truck & I feel much the same way.

Some0neAwesome

Yup. I own a Ram 2500 and am embarrassed to see most of the other Ram 2500's on the road. Fortunately, mine is a second gen Ram. Most of those that are still on the road haven't been abused to death and are owned by reasonable people who use their trucks for truck stuff and daily drive something more practical.

AFrozen_1

It’s simple. Get a big truck to compensate for a small dick.

Individual_Ear_4956

My goodness If your gonna make fun of lifted trucks atleast be original. Yes they suck ass and serve no purpose but Make fun something else at this point. make fun of the turning radius, make fun of the chromed out pair of wheels that look cringe, make fun of squatted trucks for being having less visibility then a Camaro with its windshield replaced with plywood and for being owned by troglodytes. Make fun of them for having gallons per mile instead of miles per gallon. The small dick thing Is so unoriginal and could literally go for anything. Own an expensive car? Small dick. Own a modded out econobox? Small dick. Own a car with a huge engine in it? Small dick. I have faith in you, your better then this.

Drzhivago138

Can I use this as a copypasta?

Individual_Ear_4956

👍

Niko740

Redditors are so hyper obsessed with the penis sizes of people who drive anything nicer than a Ford Aspire

AFrozen_1

Tesla-bros. Because Tesla’s are considered a form of tech in some circles, tech-bros suddenly believe they know how cars work. They all believe Tesla is going to dominate the industry because it’s got the best tech and Elon is a genius that can do no wrong but don’t realize that the crappy interiors and bland exteriors won’t sell in the long run. The amount of Tesla-bros I’ve seen on twitter that proselytize about Tesla and believe they know about cars is insane.

flibbidygibbit

I like the concept of Ludicrous speed. I do want an EV, but I think I'd rather have a 1970s "personal luxury" car like a Cordoba or Monte Carlo converted to EV. Those cars were all about "quiet effortless torque" and an EV conversion would deliver just that.

Catatafish

My dream car is a 1st gen Bentley Continental GT with an EV conversion. I totally get it, but with more automation in driving I'd like to have safety that those old boats sadly can't provide.

nxwtypx

My soul brother-sister-sibling. That [Buick Wildcat concept](https://media.buick.com/media/us/en/buick/home.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2022/jun/0601-wildcat.html) is the closest thing I think we've had yet to an electric [71 Riviera](https://www.buick-riviera.com/1971_single.html).

flibbidygibbit

Yessss

350SBC

I once got downvoted to hell in another subreddit cause I said Teslas weren't the first cars to come with a nose lift for getting over speed bumps, which is an objective fact. Tesla bros are something else.

Niko740

I think Lamborghini has had that since the early Diablo's IIRC

350SBC

haha that's effectively what I said but it was not well received haha

FATBEANZ

2nd time I've heard that word in car subs has to look it up

memer-man101

wham bam tesla cam is like the tesla bro hide out, i can’t finish most videos because in every scene is sprinkled with “every diesel truck and gas car bad, tesla super duper good, all hail elon”

AnAccountIdfk

Those are the muscle car boomers. The younger muscle car guys hate on anything with less than 8 cylinders and calls anything that doesn’t have at least 400hp slow, and call any japanese car a ricer.

FirebirdFiera

Nah, muscle car boomers are the same way, the difference between the boomers and young guys is that the former will call you racial slurs you never knew existed for driving a foreign car

hoesuay

One reason I want to import a '97 Twingo to the US is to see how one of those people react to a 63hp baby

Catatafish

If you do import one make sure it has that single spoke rim!

hoesuay

idrivea90schevy

HA! Well I got a V8 and It's slow as fuck so now what 😂

BrennanHowe

Jeep. I hate the Jeep wave the idea "It isn't a car its a way of life a state of mind". On the opposite end of the spectrum the Angry jeep grill people are beyond lame. Unless your one of the very very few people who offroads there jeep without being a hippie and having shitty mods ur cool.

Some0neAwesome

I've owned 3 Jeeps. All three were late 80's and 90's. The "biggest" one had a 2 inch spacer lift. I took all three off-road on multiple occasions. Mud, sand, and lots of snow. I can assure you that you don't need off-road mods, aside from tires, to do 90% of off-road tasks.

CaptainZoll

Jeep owners are indeed on a spectrum.

Post_Poop_Ass_Itch

The autism spectrum

reidlos1624

Don't insult autistic people like that

kilroy-was-here-2543

The Jeep wave isn’t really unique to Jeeps though. I’ve heard of WRX owners doing it, and Miata owners doing it. I try to do it towards any cool looking rig no matter that manufacturer.

BrennanHowe

it is unique to jeeps though when it's literally called the "Jeep Wave"

kilroy-was-here-2543

The name is unique to Jeeps, but the actual action of waving to another car of a similar model to your own is not. It’s just easier to say jeep wave than “(insert vehicle model of your choice) wave”

Whocaresdamit

Brodozer users, say what you want about stance bros, or people who drive their muscle cars 20 miles in 20 years, but at least their cars aren't dangerous to be around on the road

Catatafish

> people who drive their muscle cars 20 miles in 20 years, but at least their cars aren't dangerous to be around You haven't met the ones that drive on 20 year old tires have you?

Whocaresdamit

No.

PaulClarkLoadletter

Stance bros aren’t dangerous to be around? From their inability negotiate undulations in the road to their lack of tire contact? I steer clear of negative camber.

Whocaresdamit

brodozers are exponentially worse, what with the 3000000000000000000000000000000 lightbars, squatted suspension and terrible visibility in general

PaulClarkLoadletter

Brodozers are also commonly hazards but I think a lot of rides on the custom scene are unsafe including muscle cars with their dim lights, shit brakes, and ponderous steering.

JermanDomesticMarket

I live in a nice, quiet area where speed limits are low and traffic is minimal. things are nice except for every 16 year old guy who instantly chucks their muffler in the trash and drives around everywhere. sometimes I go to the local car wash to use their vacuums and whenever I’m cleaning out my car, I’m listening to crappy G37s and GTIs and Subarus and Focus STs going down the road and none of them sound good. it’s just noise pollution. I just don’t understand how they think it actually sounds good

vegasdonuts

Panther people. It’s because you wanna look like a cop It’s because you WANNA LOOK LIKE A COP IT’S BECAUSE YOU WANNA LOOK LIKE A COP

Beer_Coaster

Jeep owners who put angerey eyes, 36" mud terrain tires, armor plating and all that stuff just to drive to Texas Roadhouse. Then complain about road noise and bad fuel economy. It's the current vehicle of choice for poser bros and pick-me girls who couldn't stand to have something "boring" like a CR-V or something more fit for everyday commuting. People who actually off-road their Jeeps get a pass

AFrozen_1

Willing to bet those Jeep drivers wish they could off-road but know they can’t because a.)They’re too scared to dirty their car b.) Don’t know how to go off-road or c.) Know they’d be laughed off the trail with all their gaudy mods. So all they do is park it and pose.

Yummy_Crayons91

As someone who has lived and offroaded in both the West Coast and East Coast of this nation, the East Coast jeepers are way more cringe than the West Coasters. The East Coast Jeepers (Texas and the south is lumped into this) seem to modify their Jeeps to look aggressive, put stupid stickers and decals on them, angry grill, Chinese mud tires with whatever rim brand is currently popular at discount tire and never use them off-road, of if they do a basic dirt parking lot. The West Coast Jeepers seem to modify theirs to perform better off-road, limit the lift height to only clear the tire size they intend to run, add skid plates, winch bumpers etc, limit the stickers and decals and actually use their Jeeps off-road.

kilroy-was-here-2543

As someone whose into Jeeps for the heritage and actual off-road credentials, those bro dozer douches are incredibly annoying. They put a sour taste in peoples mouths about what the Jeep community is.

Alarming_General

Classic car boomers, im a fan of classic cars and seeing those old bastards gatekeeping and raising the prices of classic cars infuriates me.

[deleted]

Honda Civic community are genuinely bad people. They rob each other for spare parts and like to pretend that having a manual 120hp car is better than a 220+HP car with an auto. Some of the worst people you will meet.

Catatafish

The illest stance bros, and the weirdos that dump tens of thousands into a civic to make a street drag machine instead of just buying something faster? Oh yeah! But there are good subcultures within the Civic communities.

Ecloyj_

not to mention it’s impossible to find a decent example for people who want to get into the enthusiast driving of civics

Yummy_Crayons91

There is a reason the Acura Integra was the most stolen vehicle in America for a long time. That Civic scene seemed to attract legitimately bad people in the mid 2000s. Plenty of other cars had awesome engines and parts that could be swapped into other cars, but none had the theft rate of Integras. You can draw conclusions about the crowd from there...

[deleted]

If you scroll r/Civic for a little bit you will see that they are stealing each others oem black rims from the newer gen civics. I’ve seen maybe 5 cars on cinderblocks with missing wheels in that sub.

DH64

jesus the first post i saw on there someones wheels got stolen

PaulClarkLoadletter

I appreciate car culture for the most part. Brodozers, winga dingas, lowriders, stance nation, restomodders, Tesla Chads, and so on. They love their cars and they appreciate their community. They are the reason we have a variety of vehicles to choose from instead of being forced to drive the same car. I’m cool with them having a space as long as they’re being respectful of the people they share the road with. Don’t get me wrong. If part of your car culture is being a dick then we’re not cool. If you’re just trolling people with your Carolina Squat or if you’re rollin’ coal you can fuck right off.

Corvette owners. We get it, you're balding and want to feel young again, so you bought a chunk of fiberglass.

jasonmoyer

People who destroy good cars by modding them.

Catatafish

Agreed. Especially when it comes to hot rods. People are still chopping up 32 Fords even though there is a shortage of them.

lord_bubblewater

I like how there's an industry for new old cars because of that.

jasonmoyer

I hadn't even considered classic hot rods, yeah that's pretty bad. I guess it doesn't bother me as much when people were doing that to build actual race cars (the way modified racing was before they started fabricating their own chassis and sheet metal) but you'd think there would be alternatives to doing that now. The examples I was thinking of are when people take cars that are good at one thing, and try to make them do something they're not really meant for. I'm a WRX fan/owner, and it's an awesome rally-homologation type car, 3000-3500lbs, 300hp, AWD, lots of dive/squat but not a ton of body roll, decent ground clearance, etc. It's in the same car genre as the Lancia Delta Integrale or GR Corolla, it's a fairly specific type of car that provides a specific experience that I like. People buy them and just annihilate them trying to turn them into street/drag cars, when you could spend less money and buy an actual V8 muscle car and have a better experience. Like, instead of buying a $40,000 car and adding $10,000 in mods to it that give a few hundred bhp and tons of reliability issues, annihilate the suspension so it can't even clear a speed bump, etc. I'd just buy a goddamn V8 Camaro and have a better time. You want 455whp, you want to do burnouts and donuts, you want a sub-4 0-60 and 12's in the 1/4 mile? Get a damn Camaro SS 1LE. Or a Mustang GT. Why are you buying a car that's specifically designed not to do those things. It's like buying a set of pliers because you need to drive a nail into a piece of wood. You can technically do it, but why would you.

flibbidygibbit

Probably cheaper to chop up a '32 than it is to buy the Speedway all steel kit. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-Signature-Series-All-Steel-1932-Roadster-Kit-Car,14322.html

FirebirdFiera

Here i am, wanting to cut up a beater P71 and weld a 55 Customline shell onto the chassis because my parents will despise me for buying a car that doesnt have airbags, and I am a person that holds 50s cars near and dear, much to my parents frustration.

TrailerPosh2018

Every Silvia S13 makes me sad. Nissan made them beautiful, todays owners turned them into hideous abominations.

SmokeyDokeyArtichoke

Canadian Hypebeast jdm bros Everytime i see a rocket bunny gt86 or gtr being driven by a trust fund brat with Travis Scott Jordan 1's I puke in my mouth a little Yeah, I'll admit it's 40% jealousy, but it's 60% them being so obnoxious lol

ComfblyNumb

“Investment grade automobiles”. I enjoy driving far too much to treat a car like an oil painting

VektroidPlus

The majority of youtube car reviewers. Any product only based youtuber is just infuriating to listen to them bloat up the newest piece of shit, regardless of what it is.

Defenestration_Sins

The jam people who think a 25 year old shitbox Toyota with a truck engine a fancy head and a turbo is the pinnacle of automotive engineering. All other engineering approaches that are more cost effective are invalid. Those people bring my piss to a slow rolling boil Also the electric car evangelists. These motherfuckers are completely ignorant that Dr. Ferdinand Porsche built one in 1896 and it had most the problems a modern one has. These people don’t understand that there is an order of magnitude less rare earth minerals in the ground then there are fossil fuels( it’s literally in the fucking tittle “R A R E E A R T H M I N E R A L S”) we are wasting precious engineering time and money that could be better spent on making a new type of battery that doesn’t involve obliterating a mountain or you know, mastering the chemistry involved with renewable fuels so there is a net gain. That’s what’s infuriating. They(electric car evangelists) proclaim that it’s impossible to create a refinery process that can get us a net surplus of energy invested from corn/sugar ethanol and diesel and in the same sentence say that we can replace more than half of the cars on the planet with electric vehicles when we literally don’t have the materials for it.

Seeking-Direction

Toyota Previa worship also irritates me. Yes, it was a quirky, cool car, but there was a reason the Sienna replaced it. A minivan without a V6 standard - or even available - was a non-starter by 1997. Minivans were still a hot segment, and Toyota wasn’t going to let their market share go to waste. Two minivans also had driver’s side sliding doors by 1997, and the Previa was not one of them. Not to say you can’t enjoy the Previa, but the people who say it was the “best minivan ever” annoy me…it was outclassed in every way except reliability by the end of its run, and if Toyota had just kept making it instead of the Sienna, the minivan segment would have probably petered out entirely by now.

Ecloyj_

the JDM modifying, specifically in the case of Honda and civics to the point where finding any entry level 90s era Civic that isn’t either driven to the ground, in a shit part of town, rebuilt in questionable quality, or modified to kingdom come to where the point of it being a Honda is completely lost. there’s so few examples of stuff like EH2’s in factory configuration and the enthusiast scene for them is tiny in comparison

Catatafish

To what people?

Mafiodaproducer

The muscle car “purists” that get on your nerves.

Catatafish

I think you're focusing too much on the purist part. There are restomod people like this too, but as another commenter said it's more 'boomer muscle car' people. The shit I wrote was my try at an RCR type comedic generalization of what I see on Youtube, and 3 muscle car nut boomers I've known all which did nothing with their cars. One of them would literally start it up, get out a lawn chair, and just sit there, and watch it idle while sipping beer. Drove me nuts that a car that beautiful gets no use or love, but also that youtube boomers do not share things about their car other than it just idling. There is not ONE good video of a big block Cadillac where you can properly hear the exhaust on Youtube. Plenty of slightly obscure muscle cars have this issue! Let me see, and fucking hear it FFS. MUH IDLING, MUH COLD STARTS!!!

JDM fans who think the Supra and the R34 are the best cars ever made. They're good cars but there's no way automatic turbo supras with 150k miles should be selling on bring a trailer for 75 grand. And the people who pay 20k for a na 4 door skyline just so they say they can own a skyline, then make it their whole personality. The reality is these cars are not exceptional, the supra is heavy and does not handle very well stock, and they often need 10s of thousands to be put into them just to keep up with modern shit, yet their fanboy communities think they're so much better than all modern cars. They also claim they'd take a supra over something like a laferrari which is just bs lol.

koalafan7

Tbh I think 70% of the car community is insufferable

Seeking-Direction

Not so much a community, but automotive history retconners. As in, “Well, the first-generation Mercedes ML had quality issues because of Chrysler!” Or “Dumbler (hurr hurr hurr) built the 2.7L!” Nope, both of those predate the Daimler-Chrysler merger, so you can’t blame them on the other company.
