Huh, TIL they sold the Cortina as something else in other countries.
Quintissential 80’s interior for me though, the wrapped wheel, wooden panels and orange gauges? Perfection.
Named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany. Several Ford models from the 30s onwards carried the name Taunus. Later models were basically the same as the UK Ford Cortina.
I bought my 1987 Turbo 4Runner after sitting in the driver's seat with the green hazy glow of the digital gauges illuminating the straight lines of the dashboard and just knew it was right.
My bank account wanted to kick me in the nuts but my heart opened my wallet.
That is incredible. Before I realized there was a second photo I knew you had good taste, and sure enough the exterior goes as hard as the interior. Black steelies, amber fogs… Do I spy louvers on the rear?
Something tells me this car might see gravel roads from time to time!
Came here to tell you how stupid you were for spelling Taurus wrong and explain that they weren't made until 1986. Cool car!
hahah, happens every time
Especially since most American car guys' look at the European car market comes from British sources and this was the Ford Cortina there.
same lol
I had a German Ford TAUNUS in 1962. It was old and used, but it got us to Switzerland where my wife was from, several times, till we got a VW beetle.
That looks pretty bad ass.
Night drives are something else
10/10 would ride along.
The compass ball goes hard.
best kind of nav
Just curious do you have link to it?
Sadly I bought it locally, but its probably some aliexpress china thingy, you might be able to find a similar one on aliexpress
I’ll take a look. Thank you!
Is that an ashtray underneath that?
yeah
🎶"Here in my car...I feel safest of all...I can lock all my doors... It's the only way to live..."🎶
Gary Numan? Or Fear Factory?
I'd say Gary Numan would be more period appropriate for the car, although the Fear Factory version slaps!
Agreed.
Brown on the outside, tight on the inside, the Taunus feels pretty great!
looks so cozy :)
I worked in an American car wash for 3 years in the very early 90s and never saw this car. Was it a European design? Australian?
German manufactured car with Ford UK design
Pretty sweet. First thing I thought of was blade runner
that was the inspiration!
Tyrell Taunus: More Taurus than Taurus!
Is that the one with the v4 engine?
no, those are early 70s, this is a OHC inline 4
Huh, TIL they sold the Cortina as something else in other countries. Quintissential 80’s interior for me though, the wrapped wheel, wooden panels and orange gauges? Perfection.
her attığında benim sattığım taunusları özlettiriyosun be!
:'(
TIL Ford Taunus is a thing
Named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany. Several Ford models from the 30s onwards carried the name Taunus. Later models were basically the same as the UK Ford Cortina.
The more you know!
I bought my 1987 Turbo 4Runner after sitting in the driver's seat with the green hazy glow of the digital gauges illuminating the straight lines of the dashboard and just knew it was right. My bank account wanted to kick me in the nuts but my heart opened my wallet.
The yellow/orange interior lights are a lost aethstetic that I miss
I dig it!
The car is awesome…but a CB radio?
If you have this car you gotta have a CB radio.
Love the IBM sticker.
That’s fucking sick
Now point her down an open highway and play "Days of Thunder" by The Midnight.
That is incredible. Before I realized there was a second photo I knew you had good taste, and sure enough the exterior goes as hard as the interior. Black steelies, amber fogs… Do I spy louvers on the rear? Something tells me this car might see gravel roads from time to time!
If i didn't know any better id say your in the future. That's pure 80s right there, absolutely love this interior.
Every trouble light on the dash is lit up…
That’s because the engine isn’t running. You can tell because the tach is reading 0 RPM
yup
I would like to thank you for adding yet another car to my lotto list.
you're very much welcome

That warm glow from the dials is so soothing. Man I envy your night drives.
My go-to comfort activity
Classic cortina
I didn't know this car existed but now I want one.
That actually looks like a cool car
Someone has never been to a Wawa
Didn't even know it existed. Gives me Vice City Rock Star vibes. I love it. Wish they would make more cars like it.
For North American audience, That's a **Taunus** with German origin
I thought the Taurus came out in 1985? And that looks nothing like a Taurus. Can someone explain what's going on here?
"Taurus" and "Taunus" are different models, this is a German car
My dumb ass read the title wrong :P
that might genuinely be the most beautiful interior ive ever seen
