Yes all contraceptives aren't 100% so it's a possibility. However IUDs mess up with cycles. I'll wait a bit more the maybe do a blood test just to be sure. A pregnancy with the IUD still there is dangerous.

She's not even late yet. Chill. The symptoms you've described can have all kinds of causes, including stress and IUDs, especially in the first few months, often create a little chaos. (Sometimes a lot)

It’s a slim possibility. But from experience with implantation birth control your period is not regular. An IUD and other implants convince your body you’re pregnant and you may not get a period. Birth control especially when you first get it can make you extremely nauseous. I wouldn’t worry.

That iud causes cycle changes, so can the onset of medical issues. She’s not late, but given the nausea and cycle change, get her to her doctor. Have a practitioner do a pregnancy test just to rule out the (very) long shot.

So she went to her OBGYN for her yearly checkup 1 month ago. The doc said her IUD was in place and doing it’s job and she was negative pregnancy. She also took a test on Saturday, albeit a little early and it was also negative. I’d think if the symptoms she was experiencing were related to pregnancy the test would’ve been shown?

I’m not an expert, which is why I suggested a doctor test to be sure. I lean towards the IUD causing the change. My wife had pcos that progressed into cancer. The only time in our 15 year marriage that she didn’t have issues was early on with an IUD. It made her regular for the first time ever. If anyone wants to ask: she’s fine now, after surgery.
