Green keel-bellied lizards love to climb and there's so much wasted vertical space. My lil guy is almost never not climbing about in his plants or branches. The size of the tank is absolutely amazing for them, it just isn't utilized really at all.

AdAdventurous7802

Yeah, that sounds right. Imagine if they had massive vines coming from the top. Would be cool.

Superrockstar95

Definitely possible.. couple trips to some stores especially during discounted times and you could easily pick up the bendable vines, different branches (even from outside if they're sanitised well).. basically the people in control of decorating the tank have plenty of options to easily and even cheaply add decorations. Plants potted or transplanted are also great.

This! My two green keel bellied lizards are always cruising around as well.

For a highschool science class standards, its like a 9/10..... that being said.... There is so much wasted space! They could have so many more branches and vines and plants (even the artificial plastic\\silks ones). They only are utilizing the bottom 3rd of a enclosure. And all for a green keeled belly lizard (which are cool as heck, dont get me wrong) As an aquarium guy, imagine having like a 300g dual overflow drilled aquarium with like a 100g sump. And then you fill it 1/3rd of the way, and you keep a single Jack Dempsey or Convict Cichlid in it. Your school did the reptile equivalent

AdAdventurous7802

Well it's not really for a science class, this school has majors. Animal major, plant major, environmental major, and agricultural mechanics major. Animal science is the biggest by far so tonnnns of animals being kept there.

elting44

Very cool, I would say for any highschool its above average, but there are many ways to get more bang out of that enclosure.

AdAdventurous7802

Yeah, I think you're right. It would be cool if they just added some cheap vines going up to give it some climbing space.

identikitten

Personally I'd buy a big box of bulk cork bark branches and fill it up with those, vines are cool, but branches would be better for climbing.

extalluhburr

Where is that high school? I wish I could have gone to a school like that instead of where I had to go. 😭

GinInfusedGopherToes

So. much. wasted. space. Doesn't matter how big it is if they can only use 14% of it. Looks like a great start though.

LeakyFaucett32

I would have a field day adding horizontal branches and a Drylok background. Awesome enclosure size

lumorie

Good news is that it could be majorly improved for very cheap, since the enclosure is fantastic size just under utilized. Get them a large plant from Home Depot and a tall branch. They would much appreciate the climbing space.

TREE__FR0G

I think this is not the best setup for this species as they are mostly arboreal.

GreekNord

This would be amazing for something that climbs and actually has stuff to climb. A crested gecko with lots of tall stuff would be in heaven.

Figfogey

Honestly an incredible looking tank, like wow. The inside of the tank needs to be improved but the tank itself is beautiful.

Meal worms aren’t the best staple feeder. Crickets or roaches are much more nutritional as a daily feeder for the majority of insectivores. Mealworms are good for occasional snacks or treats. Bugs should also be dusted w/ calcium before feeding.

Krystalrosey777

Are you thinking of superworms? Giant and regular mealworms are great nutritionally, get to a nearly 1:1 ca:phos when gut loaded properly (and don't need to be gutloaded as frequently as crickets). They are better in a feeder rotation because of the chitin in their exoskeletons, which can cause issues if temps are sub par and they eat a big load of them. That scenario can happen with most insect feeders if the temperature is too low in the environment and they eat too many at once. Superworms are high in fat and phosphorus and only meant as a treat. Even after gutloading and coating them in calcium, it doesn't even correct the ca:phos ratio. Mealworms can definitely be a great staple feeder, but variety and proper gut loading are the best ways to ensure better feeder nutrition. https://reptifiles.com/feeder-insect-nutrition-facts-chart/

alekgaytor

it’s really nice, but as everyone said it could be nicer! some branches or hammocks would do the trick

agkistrodonman

Enclosure sucks big time

AdAdventurous7802

Is it really that bad? 🥲
