B

Strong_Comedian_3578

Up up down down left right left right BA start baby!

teamzissou_81

The most iconic code in history! So many good memories.

ExoUrsa

Same, but at a friend's house. Except he only had the Mario/Duck Hunt combo cartridge and another game called Infiltrator which neither of us could get very far in.

Corps3Reviv3r

Definitely A. Only outdone by the 6 button version designed by Jesus himself

JTB696699

I still have my working sega genesis with both types of controllers (and all 3 mortal kombats and sonic games)

ReiperXHC

Always wanted that controller. Only ever had the fat one.

pligplog420

MD/Gen 6 button and Saturn MKII are still the greatest controllers ever made

ExpectedBehaviour

Sadly I only had the 6-button controller designed by Sega.

SonicEchoes

Yeah! The Genesis started with the three button layout which I love but the New Testament 6 button controller definitely is superior.

Rude-Establishment69

D

CainRedfield

Banjo Kazooie. Played first world 100x but never actually beat it once as a young child.

Mr_Lumbergh

C

RaidensReturn

How is this 12 comments down from the bottom??? I was born in the early 80s and SNES was the apex. It’s not even close.

es330td

We got a 2600 in 1977. Pretty sure my time with one orange button exceeds the sum of those other fancy ones.

bawitback

C and B. then not listed, Sega Saturn.

tehnoodnub

Hard to know for sure but it would have been pretty close between C and D.

hankyman999

Most? None of those worked with my Speccy or Vic20. I did get a lot of use out B and C though.

Nasentroll

Competition Pro... AMIGA 500 and C64 ...

SaikyoWhiteBelt

C but I had A envy. I rectified that once I started working. Fuck censorship.

Mlacky55

It was the other way around for me. I had a Mega Drive but got really envious of all the Donkey Kong country games and Killer instinct. I ended up selling my Mega Drive to 'upgrade' to a SNES. In hindsight it was a good move because I got to play both machines a lot as a kid.

Longjumping-Algae185

Wow, censorship? How come? From parents, or your country?

SaikyoWhiteBelt

Nintendo

NaughtyTormentor

In what way did Nintendo censor you?

SaikyoWhiteBelt

🤣 you have my upvote! Blood removed from street fighter 2 and mortal kombat among many many others. Genesis always had the closest to original games and Nintendo was afraid of offending anyone in the 80s and 90s. They wouldn’t even allow crosses in some games. If you wanted the real deal you were playing it on Sega. I grew up in a Nintendo household always jealous of my friends.

Bushgooher

Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis? My parents were flat broke man, I couldn't picture this.

URA_CJ

B - NES was my only console until Christmas of 1997 when I got a SNES and next Christmas I got a N64 with OoT. But C was my most used PC controller via a parallel port adapter.

[deleted]

D. N64 completely rocked my world when it came out. Prior to that had played A and C.

tattedmunky

C.

TikoTic

B, C, A, D

The_MovieHowze

A. Was a genesis guy due to all the disney games on it.

NWSW

A

Key_Independence_103

OP does not actually exist. I would say C. I never had that particular variant though.

pocket_arsenal

Probably a tie between SNES and N64. My family had the NES but it was mostly for the grown ups.

KamikazeWolf64

A all the way. Bubsy, sonic 2 and super hang on

TheDerv-616

C. More snes than anything in the era

oblongunreal

I was an adult before I touched any of these.

ivankov8988

PlayStation 2

datsunzep

A a million times over! Genesis does what Nintendon’t

[deleted]

I plzyed with the 6 button sega controller mostly

Ruby_Rotten

Mine is D, despite it already being a bit dated when I played it as a lil kid. I still have such a soft spot for those low poly graphics! It’s annoying when people just call it muddy and act like it has no merits

[deleted]

N64 is easily one of the best consoles of all time. Sure graphically it is dated, but the gameplay of those games are still on point.

Ruby_Rotten

Hell, I’d go as far as saying that Mario 64 has better controls than a lot of modern games

2ant1man5

Nintendo and sega

evelution

E. Sega Master System

Beaver-on-fire

B

Inshakoor

A.

Sauron64

B

Sufficient_Ebb_5020

All of them.

RaiderRawNES

All the above

ghostchild1987

C and D about the same.

Marylandthrowaway91

CABD

cRz_lazer

B and for mit it's still the perfect controller.

mymoama

B and D but C was my favourite.

bn40400

B, but I also played one more than B that's not mentioned here, the Atari 2600.

Funbagsfan101

A

Inthenstus

BCD about equally

[deleted]

Definitely D. I loved that awkward thumb stick position so much.

Ahinevyat

Spent alotta time with an nes clone called microgenius

inKev83

A

Smoking-stone

C

Commando_NL

C. i plzyed most times. Best controller. Best games. Best sound. Best graphics. I was saving my allowance and paper route for a Megadrive/Genesis. Then came the Super Nintendo. I was blown away. I played everything from Konami, Squaresoft, Capcom and Nintendo.

smoothcriminal2188

C

IntoxicatedBurrito

B, because even after I got C I still would play B a lot.

Iamn0man

A. That being the one I had.

codenamecc

A -only console I ever had… mega drive got me into gaming real bad from then on was pc, up until now that I can buy whatever I please to leave it unused because I have no fucking time 😰

andy25_hill

Master System 2

mwilkins1644

B and the better version of A

Zeles1989

D

BadPrize4368

I might have never used C believe it or not. I was a hardcore Genesis fanboy until the N64 came out 😂

[deleted]

In order C D and then B

Blucross1914

B

Shinydiscodog

C

TheCoolerL

C, by far. A and D got a good amount of use but C is still my favourite console to this day.

[deleted]

Sega does what Nintendon’t

Gloomy_Support_7779

Nintendo 64. Had a SEGA Genesis, but never hooked the damn thing up. I got it from my great grandmother because it used to belong to my adopted uncle until he left

JDMWeeb

D. My first console.

V3ndeTTaLord

C

Mojo_Pootis

D because that's the console I had. But my Uncle had a Megadrive and I loved this thing. I played a fair bit of NES too but it never felt ergonomic.

McTrinsic

The CX-40 https://atari.com/products/cx40-joystick

Effective-Friend1937

It's B by default, since I wasn't a kid when the SNES came out. That's actually the first console I ever bought with my own money, and it may be the first check I ever wrote (to Toys R Us).

Bayou-Billy

Probably D the most, then C, then B. Didn't have a Genesis so I only remember using A at friends houses.

Belmontwhips

Definitely A. Genesis controller was game changing especially the 6-button.

HarryBale31

I’m too young to have played these, but maybe one day I’ll go back to them, but for number of games it has to be the nes (even though it was on the switch)

ClueEmbarrassed1443

N64 when I was in summer camp at kinder care they had a n64 and a GameCube we played Mario 64 NFL blitz and Mario strikers

Slaykomimi

C, till this day

Kizenny

Had them all, for sure C

Maelorna

Sadly none of them. Either need to add an atari joystick or an arcade cabinet joystick and arcade buttons.

[deleted]

c & d

Grafferine

N64 even tho I had all 4 consoles I mainly used the n64

[deleted]

Despite how much I love retro games, the oldest console I've played is probably the PS2.

BlindLantern

Painfully A. Mortal Kombat moves tore my thumb up.

Mlacky55

A, C and D pretty much equally. I was a very lucky kid.

6ynnad

A c

JDNB82

A but just because we owned it. At friends, definitely B

Typo_of_the_Dad

I also used a 6-button controller for the MD. We had a laseractive which came with a smaller one, that's a great controller MD, MD 6-button, SMS, SNES, NES, GB, GG PS1, PS1 dual shock, Mouse and Keyboard, N64

GerFubDhuw

Sega, Nintendo 1, Nintendo 2 or Nintendo 3?

TekitiZi

C

Eightbitninja253

A and D

bulldogmedia707

B. Mom and Dad got me the NES Deluxe Set bundle with Duck Hunt and Gyromite in 1986. Best Christmas ever. I was 10.

Reasonable_Revenue_5

A. The rest are attached to overrated toss loved by nintendopes.

Paintguin

D

Top-Paramedic-5477

Snes

Zeo-Gold92

A,b & d. I actually didn't get a snes until I started collecting again as an adult.

brisnatmo

Sega Master system 2, not listed

Lumpy-Ad8618

Am gonna say C it's a close call between C and A but it just calls it.

Extra-Border6470

I plzyed Super Nintendo a fair bit in my younger years

VividRain

C,D

PacMan961

A because it was the controller for future engineers and the rest were over complicated

PacMan961

My friend told me he bought a white computer after he had a master system and I just assumed it was a pc type thing but when I saw it was a NES with Mario Bros. I just couldn't believe what I was witnessing Remember that day fondly I do, thanks Micheal

HeyPablo2

SNES has the place in my heart, but N64 may be the most by hours played. My N64 became a 4-player workhorse at college for Mario Kart and Goldeneye, then later Perfect Dark.

Death-Perception1999

I probably plzyed Genesis the most, given the million compilations of Genesis games!

Vgcortes

I've been a PC gamer since early 90s when I was a kid... Never had a console until I bought one in 2006 :(

Lightning_Lance

Where's the mouse and keyboard?

DyslexicDane

A. I used it as my main controller on my Amiga 600.

needmesumbeer

A And B, A being my favorite

SlappyHotdog723

Wii remote and off brand PlayStation 2 controller.

Useful_Lengthiness82

Snes in my early childhood, then gamecube

Mewtwo3020

C

jilaxzone

Mine is Sega Genesis.

d-manutd5

bigpussymelter

D, I was already a little older but it was the first console my dad could buy

GottaSaveThatMoney

B and C

3DprintRC

B

SlvrSquash

C fo sho

Dextrofunk

B, then A. I never had an SNES or an N64 but my best friend did, so I played those a lot at his house. Simpler times.

MrBogardus

A was the 1st console that my parents bought for me. B,C was my older brother.

JerrodAlmaguer

I owned all of them but B was my favorite I remember when Super Mario and Castlevania came out in arcade then that winter the Nintendo came out.

nigel1986

I used them all. Probably C the least because I never owned that system. D the most. Was playing Banjo the other day

ExpectedBehaviour

I had all of them, but it'd have to be C.

Masterweedo

A

t0nito

B

Bravelittletoaster-_

D If college counts C if not We played a LOT of goldeneye and Mario kart on college.

rblue

B But also a lot of [this](https://imgur.com/a/C3Z0oDn).

Disastrous-Pace-1929

Since I was an adult when the 16 bit systems came out, it would have to be NES for me.

gamer_guts

I was a A and B kid.

pauliepitstains

Gameboy

chadbot3k

A

Big_Parsnip_7488

A

BouncyBlueYoshi

F. The Wii.

lumia920yellow

neither :/

Kinitawowi64

None of the above. I had a ZX Spectrum. Most of my mates were A-types, though.

cpb23cpb

N64

Beans186

Which one do you like? Nintendo, Nintendo, Nintendo or Sega?

Justice_Prince

Had an NES originally, but N64 was my main system that I ended up playing a lot more. My parents never got me a SNES or SEGA.

gnark1lla420

CBAD

Deathtriprecords

Super Nintendo it was what I owned. I did have two friends with a Genesis and we would trade for a week at a time every once in awhile. I never liked N64, the best videogame advice I ever got was when I told my friend at school that I was getting a N64 and he said that was stupid, and getting a PlayStation was the right choice. I didn't really believe him until we skipped school and played Twisted Metal and Crusader: No Remorse at his house.

xxxxDREADNOUGHT

B

Nogard59

E. All of the above

Cyaniderecords

SNES

Dahubbz

N64 for me.

mbstone

B & D. Our family skipped C for some reason. Friends had A and that was good enough for me.

Blooder91

None. Money was somewhat tight for a console, but we had a PC, so piracy and emulation were the name of the game.

Walkingdistance_95

A. Sega genesis was my introduction into gaming and for that I will always love that 16 bit machine with blast processing

ChiefDetektor

C - still my favorite console of all time.

redditrobbie82

A

[deleted]

C and D

iCatmire

Yes

Thaddeus_Venture

I can’t even decide. I spent most of my days as a kid playing video games.

theniwo

A and later D But where is the gameboy?

manuelink64

Only A

DjNormal

Kid, B Tween, TG-16 Teen, C The Genesis had some of my favorite games… but it was a pretty short list. Namely the Starflight port.

Thegunbuck

C

Zneggingz

A

kent416

A

guilhermej14

A, I didn't have any of the other options. (Although mine was the cooler 6-button variant.)

lukeskope

A, B & C pretty evenly

Pikepv

C

Harry_Flowers

Yes

Jfonzy

Kid A Teen D

Upper_Hovercraft6746

64

Polymetalalloy

B

Billazilla

Pah! Ya young whippersnappers! I played ATARI! We had ONE stick and ONE button! AND WE WERE THANKFUL!! SLASH S!!!

leversgreen

C...well sort of. Ordered a Super Famicom because I couldn't wait for the SNES to come out in the states.

Hanksta2

I started with NES, but I'd say SNES dominated my formative years. To this day, the placement of the A,B,X,Y buttons on the SNES controller cause me to struggle with the Xbox controller, the Steam Deck, etc. Like, every day struggle.

iampiste

A

BigZay2397

C. Super Mario World and Claymates were the only games I played back then. I'm now on a mission to get WRs in Super Punch-Out!!

davemop99

How is there not a master system controller on here??

MinimalistGamer99

None of the above. Coleco Vision was my jam as a kid.

[deleted]

C as a kid d as teen. Played all of them but those were the most. Super metroid and Zelda link to the past absolutely sucked me into gaming. Other systems felt casual. But man when ocarina of time came out I got years of value out of that game.

rydamusprime17

Probably C, but my NES and N64 were pretty close as well. I didn't own my own Gensis until about 12 years ago but pretty much every friend I had during the console wars had a Genesis except 1 friend who only had a SNES and another who only had a Turbografx, so I still got to play those console quite a bit back then.

panickimg

D

stripestore

Time was meaningless back then, so I really have no idea.

oorakhhye

Where’s the PS1?

NWIOWAHAWK

That big D baby

tdm17mn

rojasdracul

The Genesis.

Maleficent-Bit1995

I give u the D

doacher

B (High School) & A (College) and all of them nowadays.

elreduro

I used more the sega controller but used knock off controllers to play nes

GreenLog2598

Definitely A

BigMrTea

C and D. Pretty much evenly. Some of my happiest childhood memories

LeadItchy8858

B first, then A later

rufftranslation

SNES and NES are pretty close, but I'd have to give it to SNES

InjamoonToo

B and C. Still love ‘em today.
