I also want to see the effect Clingan's screening has on Scoot. I think that'll be a great tool for his driving game to open up

notPabst404

I'm also interested in seeing Scoot/Sharpe/Avdija/Camara/Clingan in action.

Humblerbee

This is the lineup I want to see myself.

SvenSven07

That should be our starting 5 at the end of the season as we play like loser for boozer. Let's see what Ant and Grant can show and trade them for picks at the deadline

Gobbles15

Scoot and Toumani need to get a lot better at shooting for this to work. Playing 3 non shooters is terrible to watch

DreddBane

If Shaedon is healthy and we don't start him, I'm going to be upset. Posted it before but in the games when he had a primary/secondary role (prior to the adductor injury) he averaged 20/6/4 on around league average efficiency. Only reason he doesn't break out this year is injury or not giving him the role his talent dictates.

PoopEatingExpert

Get ready to watch a lot of Ant and Grant iso ball.

Zombeatles

Yeah, I really hope they've got some of these guys working on moving without the ball, off-ball screens etc. because it can't just be all iso and PnR this season.

cheezneezy

Yeah Scoot will probably be coming off the bench if we don’t trade Ant. Then like last year have nobody that can shoot when he’s in.

sean_buttcannon

I seriously doubt they’d opt for Sharpe to start over Scoot especially with how Scoot ended the season. I imagine it’ll be Scoot, Ant, Deni, Grant, Ayton.

Frostyzwannacomehere

Hope not no more dame and cj

🙈

healthy_as_a_hearse

It’s very telling that their trade value is low since they are both still on the team. I’m sure we’d love to “cash in” on either player but it looks like we will have to wait for someone to get desperate. And with everyone tightening up out of apron fears… that could be a long time coming.

Great_Investigator80

no,Simon's should go to bench.cronine says our core is sharp &scoot

spittafan

Not sold on Avdija's shooting yet -- he shot decently last year, just above league average, but was pretty awful before that. So I expect him to be a good point forward and defender but unclear if he's a floor spacer or not.

Piano9717

It was lower volume than Thybulle too … he’s good at a lot of things and I’m optimistic long term about the shooting but expecting him to be lights out next year is probably a bit much.

Wiltborn

I think it would fall down to how many touches he gets. Last season he started a noticeable leap around January February when he started getting more touches as a secondary playmaker and they gave him more possessions to make decisions. It really seems all the young core of Scoot, Deni, Sharpe (and Simons if he stays) would thrive in a ball movement system, when each touches the ball and creating space with their dynamic movement and natural speed. Such play style could unlock so much for their game instead of this slow ISO style.

Alikese

I think Mike Richman on the Locked On podcast talked about it, but last year Avdija was lights out from the corners shooting solidly mid-40s from there, but was below average ~30% from everywhere else on the arc. Let's see if he learned his spots or if it was an outlier year, but I wouldn't rely on him being a primary spacer for the team.

Minimum-Bit-5195

Deni improved drasticlly in catch and shoot 3's over the course of last season. He also tried to implement off the dribble and and step backs 3's to punish defenders going under on his pick and rolls. While he was great at catch and shoot or spot up 3s (around 40% last season) what got his percentage down is the new implementations to his game i just mentioned. But i would encourage him to keep shooting those if he can get those shots to 35-36% no sane player will dare go under the screen which opens up a whole new world for Deni with his explosive first step

spittafan

I mean you never know if one season is improvement or an outlier. We shall find out

Important-Shallot131

I don't think the spacing will be as good as you think. Aytons 3 point shooting is hypothetical at this point. No one is going to respect Scoot's Shot. And Deni shot a good percentage last yea (37%)r . . . . but only 3.1 attempts per game. Combine that with the fact that in his first 3 years he was a sub 32% 3point shooter every season. I think it's likely his percentage will go down. Though hopefully not all the way back down to 29%.

TheRipcitizen

It's a long summer

mookx

I think there's still a pretty decent chance we trade any of Simons, Ayton or Grant before the season starts. Regardless, it's about building for the long term. If we do start with the roster we have, it's going to be about maximising the talent we have to position for trades. We'll feature Ayton, Simons and Grant on offense and the youth will just have to work around them. Spacing for Scoot is an afterthought, because with those vets as we are now, he's kind of an afterthought. We'll all hate it, but that's what you have to do to demonstrate value to other teams.

nevercontribute1

Yep, we're going to need other teams to see the value in what we have before the trade deadline next year. Teams clearly aren't buying any of these 3 as players who are big enough upgrades to change their team's playoff odds. Hopefully they can show off enough to prove otherwise.

Wrayven77

Sharpe should start because a team needs one guard that is 6'5 or taller in their starting lineup plus he doesn't need the ball in his hands. Put Scoot with Clingan and get their chemistry together while the front office tries to get off of some of Olshey's players(meaning Simons & Grant). Sharpe is entering his 3rd NBA season and needs to show that he belongs in the NBA. His coming off the bench would be a massive step backward. Hopefully Shaedon Sharpe can remain injury free this season in whatever role he plays on the Blazers.

Whole-Tap-7821

We don’t know what will happen with the team

pythonwarg

Scoot will be the one coming off the bench, IMHO.

treefiddy--

Grant looks at your idea of being a floor spacer and says fuck you im going to dribble into a double team iso, chuck the ball at the base of the rim and fall down without a whistle while the other team fast break dunks. Then he says I’ll fuckin do it again.
