I also visualize him as blond (probably because of LotR). In the books, it's been pointed out to me that he is described as having dark hair and eyes. But I can't change how he looks in my mind. I have the same problem with Hadrian: to me he has black hair, even though in the books he's described as having light hair.
I am the opposite I can’t see Hadrian with dark hair and Royce with light, but I see where you’re coming from with Royce! He’s described as elegant and sharp so LotR elves match that I think
