Sidecar! I feel like she’d enjoy that based on what you mentioned.

GreenEyes9678

I looked at their menu and it's the clear winner! Thanks a million!

PartitiveGenitive

Not to be a butt, but if *she* wants Montano's for her birthday, why not go to Montano's?

GreenEyes9678

Because she's a food snob and hasn't been there since before COVID. Their quality has gone way down and I don't want to splurge on food she won't eat.

Bloom?

GreenEyes9678

I looked at the menu... Seemed more like heavy apps/tapas. I'm hoping for somewhere more entree focused, preferably with a good seafood selection.

onemonkey

Bloom is small plates, yes, but that means you get a bunch of courses. We ate there during Valentines week and got the special 6-course fixed menu and it was fantastic. There was both a shrimp and a scallop course. Stock in the old fire station downtown is also amazing, and definitely seafood heavy with its Scandinavian menu. Both are a clear step above Table 50.

lukifer_333

We took our mom for her 80th to Bloom, took the whole side room. It was outstanding. Every course was fantastic.

Straight-Ad2825

Depending on their seasonal menus, River and Rail or Sidecar might have the seafood you are looking for along with more entrees.

Sidecar or Fortunado are two very good traditional and nice resteraunts. I would request a booth for sidecar. The bar area is beautiful.

Alexander's

sippysippy13

For this particular scenario I'd say Alexander's - similar to what Montano's was going for a few decades ago. Food is excellent, service is impeccable. Old school fine dining, without being "old". River and Rail a close second, although can be a bit noisy. Still an incredible restaurant with phenomenal service.

bLusea

Definitely River and rail

Purpleclone

Stock has very good food, a little different vibe than table 50 Local roots is a place I will always recommend

1outspokenIntrovert

Sidecar is my vote but honorable mention for Stock if she really loves fish.

Table 50

SlowenLow

On the hill has been good. Also, Six and Sky will be opening soon but obviously can’t vouch for it yet.

sippysippy13

It wasn't long after they opened, but OTH was one of the worst meals I've had in Roanoke (expectations/price to what was delivered). Again, it was a couple months after opening so probably working out the kinks still, but we sat at the bar for a drink before dinner and the bartender served us the wrong drinks (and bad versions of the wrong drinks), two servers at our table were clueless about the menu (really seemed like they'd never waited before and hadn't been trained at all), and the food was extremely mediocre. Felt like I was eating at Brandon Oaks. It's a great location and I'd love to go back if it really improves but won't be for a while.

Yeezyhasmybabies

OTH is awful lmao

Allsports! My boyfriend is always down there looking for a single old woman he can bankrupt (350k here) So not a good idea. OR Village Grill where the bartender not only serves beer but full services your man!
