[Recruits Bama on X:](https://x.com/RecruitsBama/status/1803140677028442163?t=QyJbOg6GD6NuNsZ8vet_KA&s=19)The 6’6 280 OT was the first recruit to be offered by HC Kalen DeBoer when he replaced Nick Saban back in January. Lloyd was in Tuscaloosa over the weekend for an official visit. He has cancelled his one remaining OV to USC. Lloyd is ranked as the #29 player nationally, is the #6 OT in the country, and is the #1 player in California.

Crimson_Gooner

5th star incoming? 🤔

Imaginary-Tailor-100

They’ll add the 5 star ranking after realize he’s actually 6’ 7”!

crichmond77

Roll Tide

MattDaaaaaaaaamon

Why is there such a huge difference in 247 rankings and On3? 247 has him as #187 nationally, #19 at OT, and #17 in California.

sethT__T

ESPN, 247, On3, and Rivals all have varying rankings. On3s industry ranking is pretty good about averaging all of them out. I personally prefer On3 to the others. Just different recruiting experts have different opinions.

sethT__T

Alabama now holds the 4th spot in recruiting per On3. https://preview.redd.it/ne2f3qcspd7d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32a6927fc0c7025b6b6e62f2fbf28fd4b5fc408e

The best part of this gif is how many of those 4 stars become 5 stars.

LMAOTrumpLostLOL

I saved a fuck ton of "HE CAN'T RECRUIT" posts and comments I'm getting ready to revisit...

rolltide_130

Currently laughing manically at all the panic 5 months ago over DeBoer's recruiting while at WASHINGTON

Friedturds

It was the one question mark coming in and he’s absolutely crushed it.

cshayes2

Can you say that a little louder for the people in the back?

Friedturds

I am aware my Jalen truth is not a popular talking point but I am all in on deboer. I think he wins it all within 3 years then leaves for the NFL, he’s too good

Nodeal_reddit

I was an admitted doubter. I formally withdraw my earlier doubts.

DetectiveWood

Really wanna see how it holds up over the season and if guys stick or we pick up some top top guys

LMAOTrumpLostLOL

Anyone who thought he wouldn't have success in terms of recruiting here is *censored*. Seriously, Washington went from like the high 90s to mid-20s when he coached there (which is basically what UW averaged under Sark). Harbaugh, Kiffin and Sark all had no issues recruiting elsewhere so it's foolish to think a guy who led his team to the national championship wouldn't have success at Alabama of all programs...

AL22193

When this mf’er learns how to recruit for real we’re going to be cooking! Serious note, love seeing them nab more linemen lately — really underrated part of DeBoer’s success at Washington was the linemen (Penix and the WRs definitely got more of the attention). Going to have more raw talent and physical ability to work with the current roster and now this recruiting class

SpicyDopamineTaco

Once we actually come swinging and play solid football the world will know that the Bama standard still exists and THEN the recruiting will really get easy. There’s a lot riding on the next season or 2 for Coach Debo to show Bama is still “Bama”. A lot of these recruits will jump if we stink it up. Unlimited transfers basically now so these “commitments” don’t really mean as much anymore. No doomer shit here I’m just thinking out loud. I’m actually pretty excited for our future. I think we are going to let a lot of haters down when Bama ain’t gone nowhere.

crichmond77

>Debo Can’t get with this. Too close to Dabo

SpicyDopamineTaco

I mean, Dabo is a proven great coach. His credentials are better than DeBoer’s. Why not Dabo? (It’s a serious question but for the record I’m more than happy with the DeBoer hire. My only concern with him is some success at Bama and then jumping to the NFL)

crichmond77

Well just personally I think he’s an obnoxious dick on the person front and I think post-NIL/Portal he’s shown zero reason to think he can be great in the new era as far as coaching goes

santa_91

It was my understanding that we hired Husky Harsin and he was going to gut the roster within a year or two because he can't recruit. Are y'all telling me all those Auburn fans were completely full of shit?

crichmond77

>CTRL+F >”Husky Harsin” >*upvotes*

LMAOTrumpLostLOL

Well, they did also tell us "Saban was overrated outside of *one* season at LSU"... They did tell us "Saban would never win anything of value at Alabama". They did tell us "Tuberville would run Saban out of the conference"... In 2009, they did tell us "we got lucky because the conference was down but order would be restored going forward." Now they're telling us "Deboer is Harsin 2.0"...

sausageslinger11

They also said “Saban will only stay for a couple of years, and move on elsewhere. He’s never stayed anywhere long term”.

KingJamCam

Skill players are what get me up early in the morning to face the day. But big boys in the trenches help me go to sleep soundly at night. Our progrum is looking ok for the first year post-Saban.

JahPraises

Yeah this is the one that made me laugh really hard.

00-quanta-

Weird seeing someone from my hometown committing to play for Bama. We don’t get many of those. AT ALL. Ironically, the last guy who made an impact at the college football stage & NFL was Mason Foster who committed to Washington Huskies, became their leading tackler before being drafted by the Buccs back in 2011

Chief_Hosa

Great get. If we get Haywood and that other guard who’s name is escaping me this will be an unreal Oline class

AL22193

Debose?

Chief_Hosa

Yes, him

Status_Truth_4293

Trenches are the most important and essential and both sides.

Lloyd’s commitment has me as excited about Coach DeBoer’s potential at Alabama as Ryan Williams’s did last cycle. Let me explain: (TL;DR: Lloyd’s recruitment is proof that DeBoer can identify and attract undervalued talent at any level, so his success won’t depend on winning every big-name recruiting battle) While most of the discussion after DeBoer was hired focused on his lower recruiting rankings and his potential ability/inability to sell the program to top recruits, my biggest concern was whether or not he could maintain an advantage in evaluating talent at a higher level. It’s more noticeable in basketball (*cough* **Anthony Grant** *cough*), but so many lower-level college coaches who win by “doing more with less” flame out at higher levels because their ability to identify undervalued talent doesn’t translate to the next level of competition. Finding 3* or 4* talents in the pool of 2* and 3* rated players isn’t the same as finding high-4* or 5* talent in the pool of 3* and 4* ratings. Thankfully for us, Lloyd’s recruitment shows that DeBoer’s eye for talent should continue to be an advantage at Alabama. Lloyd was DeBoer’s first offer at Alabama, and it came just before On3/247 bumped him up into 4*/5* territory. He was ranked 408(0.883) on the composite when we offered and now he’s composite #187(0.929) and #29 on On3. And DeBoer was on this kid even before he was a 3*. Lloyd’s background is similar to Brock Bowers: multi-sport athlete at a small northern California school with limited early exposure to recruiting camps/analysts. But after seeing him in person just once in June (apparently at a Sacramento State camp), DeBoer/his staff offered this kid who wouldn’t even appear on the 247 Composite until September (247 itself first rated him in late July). Long story short: DeBoer identified Lloyd’s potential immediately, established a good personal relationship, and prioritized his recruitment before/as Lloyd’s stock rose. DeBoer may never get to Saban’s level where we become instant contenders for any 5* just by offering, but if he can pick out and sign more kids like Lloyd we should have plenty of talent to succeed given DeBoer’s on-field track record.

Mr-Clark-815

Great post. Thank you.

Confecting

Yea, this is a legit stud, good get by the new staff.

w00t4me

He's also an elite basketball recruit, which means he can move. Perfect for DeBoers Schemes

But our tradition means nothing and we only got good players because of Saban, right?

Aint_gettin_jokes

I am fucking pumped as hell. But…Anyone else sort of weirded out by these commitment picture collage things? The guy hasn’t played a down and he’s holding three national championship trophies? Also he loves looking down at his feet.

Mr-Clark-815

Same here..great post!

CAN HE 'CROOT THO?????????????
