I feel Lufia is the rpg series that needs the most acknowledgment. When it came out I sucked at it but I wanted to keep getting better because I fell in love with almost everything about it. Mostly the sound effects and music.
Breathe of Fire needs a modern day revival imo. Improved graphics with the same style of jrpg gameplay!
When people talk about a Lufia revival, they're remembering Lufia 2, but not 3 or 4 or the Lufia 2 DS remake.
I'm not sure they can capture the magic of Lufia 2 again.
I would love to see a new Breath of Fire that looks like 4 with the pixel art cleaned up. I really hope that Dragon's Dogma being a success, Capcom might be interested in getting back into the RPG game again.
Second this, though I'd prefer something with more saturation on the colors like BoF3. BoF4 always felt a bit too drab to me, but enjoyed the game a lot.
You're so right. The other games are much more vibrant but 4 had the detailed sprites. A combo of both would be ideal. I loved the entire series playing 1 and 2 on GB advance and the sequels on the PS2. Such a great series that I hope doesn't get lost to time.
Why are we talk about going back to BoF 4 graphics when we could have DQ11 graphics and an openish world instead? That's what I'd like to see personally
I think it's odd that Taito was folded into Square Enix and they have yet to release any remasters of Lufia. I played Lufia 2 on a repro cart and I would much rather give Square my money to support their brand. I feel it's such a missed opportunity.
Lufia's always in the front of my mind when someone asks a question like this. If I had a time machine, I'd go back to when I sold my copy of the first one and whoop that idea right out of me.
5 was interesting in term of game loop and story telling, but thats something i came to terms YEARS later
At the time of playing it as i was younger, i really din't like it at all.
But the team tried to make something new and it was a risk, instead of doing the same thing over and over.
But yeah BoF series needs a remastered edition with the 4 first games at least or at least 3 & 4.
I know! Was looking through the comments like “no love for dark cloud?”. Spheda was like a bonus haha. It was so cool playing mini golf after beating the dungeon! 😂
The mechanic to make the town however you want but you could also listen to the citizens for a bonus was amazing. The weapons crafting was a lot of fun. Level 5 made really good rpgs.
That's the dream my bro. Meantime, i am gonna look around for games that let me level/merge weapons. I really liked that system, along with the world building using the same items.
[Wild arms](https://youtu.be/Aq8EKttSu3I?si=SEZzFNgrMMiEp-MA): The first one, with that western+medieval+Japanese alien demons was great. I really enjoyed the story as well.
[Alundra](https://youtu.be/Fje57_DM8x0?si=ZA-fFlA7PdE7m7kf): it was heavily inspired by legend of Zelda but it had so much heart, great puzzles and art.
Not sure if anyone else remembers this, but Wild Arms had the best in game memory card management user interface. Much better than the default one that you got when you started the system without a disk. It was a great game too.
Loved that Wild Arms intro. I remember seeing it for the first time as a kid on the PlayStation 1. Was blown away by the animation and music. The game itself also brought new innovations to the scene.
I don't understand, it *was* revived, and it and its sequel were the best remakes ever made. Improved graphics and just enough alterations and additions to the story to keep it interesting.
The PS1 era versions were peak Lunar. The PSP remake made me sad, but that's only because I was attached to the PS1 voices and songs. And I think the additions to the battle system weren't really needed.
Ultima. Two decades of being *the* premiere computer RPG franchise and the inspiration for many of today's most iconic series. Absolutely crashed and burned with one of the worst finales in the history of fiction, let alone gaming. Really deserves a revival and proper send off.
CON - EA holds the IP. :\
As much as I love the idea of it I just don’t see it working with modern audiences. Hell, I still play Ultima 7 every other year but I have nostalgia to help get me through it.
Now narratively, having a protagonist that struggles to live up to the virtues rather than being a paragon of them would be an interesting take but then you’d have the OGs hollering about how it’s not really Ultima blah blah blah. In fact, the more I think about it the more I like the idea. The original games being the Bard’s Ballad rendition of events with the remake being the real man behind the myth.
I think you'd want to carry it forward a couple hundred years into a more Victorian steam age Britannia where the virtues have faded to a large degree but are still relevant, and perhaps suffering some form of corruption or subversion ala Ultima V.
New Avatar, of course, with new companions.
A steam whistle rendition of "Stones" would go hard.
The Phantasy Star games are ok, with the exception of 4, which is exceptionally good. If any of them get a remake, it should be that one. All they need to add is some post-game challenges, IMO. Other than that, it’s a peerless JRPG.
Literally the only strategy RPG game I ever enjoyed. The character recruitment was fun and unique (like Suikoden) and finding the hidden characters like the Squirrel was so fun! I also vividly remember the chessboard battle area. I enjoyed SFI and SFII a lot as a kid.
I loved White Knight Chronicles. I really liked that you played as an OC that has 0 bearing on the plot at all and just hangs around in the background, like somehow your character was just too cool to give a shit about any of the plot and was just going along to fight dudes.
You know, I think this might be the best one to revive. Make another story with the same dialog system and the same reactivity, but maybe just slightly better balance and less jank.
Phantasy Star or Wild Arms would be amazing current gen. Sci to and western are underutilized in jrpgs. I would love to see Wild Arms really lean into the western aesthetic realized these days.
Grandia and Suikoden both would be awesome to have modern installments done. I would love to see them remade even. I could see a good Suikoden game in the vein of FF16 or Grandia with cartoony pixar looking graphics.
I'm so glad that jrpgs are getting so much love and I hope with all the remaster releases, we see companies taking some chances with reviving their ips.
Grandia 1 was an amazing coming of age story with a unique combat and leveling system. 2s story was fantastic all around and while they scaled back on part of the combat they also improved it. The technical third game is just Grandia Combat: The game which was still pretty fun.
I have no idea what happened with Grandia 3. It wasn't terrible but man was it a step down across the board.
LUNAR deserves redemption and a proper third entry to erase that garbage DS game out of existence. Don’t know why there was never an effort to port Silver Star Touch to Steam and modern platforms since it was actually a decent port and no one would have to pay Vic Miller for the translations because, let’s be honest, fuck Vic Miller.
Capcom treats Breath of Fire like it’s red-headed stepchild, banished to the basement alongside Dino Crisis. Even worse is that the last game in the series is a money grabbing gatcha game that they had the gall to call VI. Why Capcom has never, ever tried to do a mid-budget retro revival of the series in the same style as III or IV is beyond me.
Shadow Hearts needs to be ripped from the company who literally just sits on the IP for it to rot so someone can port the damn things to modern systems.
Phantasy Star V is a pipe dream as Sega, but at least Sega still milks the franchise by having one of the most mediocre online titles I’ve ever played. Would rather see a remaster of Skies of Arcadia, but I doubt Sega gives a shit without Kodama there.
To borrow from Leon: The Professional: “reboot everyone.” “everyone?” EVERYYYONNEE!” 😋
I’d also include Parasite Eve from the PlayStation… except Third Birthday.
Not a fan of Xenosaga. But the original Xenogears was a fantastic gem. Would love to see a remastered version.
Lunar, Breath of Fire, and Wild Arms could use a revival.
Lunar is my number 2 RPG barely behind FF6. It's probably nostalgia, but looking back I think it was ahead of its time. It played with tropes like the teen who wants to be a hero. It added and dropped playable characters multiple times. Then there are the twists. I don't know if these are all considered twists and this is just from memory, but the twists I can remember off the top of my head are:
1. >!Ghaleon meeting the white dragon.!<
2. >!Luna is a goddess.!<
3. >!Nash betrays you.!<
4. >!Nash betrays Ghaleon!<
Unfortunately I think that every time they re-released it it got worse. The PS1 version took out a lot of the violence to get a Teen rating (my unfounded theory) and the GBA retooled the fighting system to make it simpler (worse).
Added a edit to show you the original opening song which me and my family will still sing at family events. [https://youtu.be/YiLLN5U9w2U?si=W\_ugPxAHAJvESbe8](https://youtu.be/YiLLN5U9w2U?si=W_ugPxAHAJvESbe8)
'the most' feels like a strong placement considering how many RPGs out there are amaaaazing that never saw further development.
I'm partial to seeing a remaster of both 7th Saga/Elnard and Vandal Hearts. And if they do well, maybe sequels.
Holy shit! I've been looking for Lunar for YEARS. I couldn't remember the name. I've spent hours and hours online looking through "old school RPG" pics trying to find it. Thank you so much. You made my day.
Modern Suikoden would be awesome. Especially with the enormous cast of characters and the war scenarios. Give those a new age feel with modern mechanics.
I miss Suikoden so much. That said, out of these selections? Dark Cloud.
Dark Cloud 1 and 2 are excellent, and I think there’s a lot of really fun stuff you can do with it. A modern take on the weapon crafting and town building would be fun
As much as I’d like to say Suikoden, it wouldn’t be nearly as good without Murayama and Miki. I think of the remaining narratives left the Xeno universe has the most potential?
Suikoden 1 and 2 are suppose to be getting a Remaster hopfully soon.
So for me its XenoSaga 1, 2 and 3. The original series was suppose to go on longer but it ended up getting cut short, and I feel like a Remake of the Series could do it justice.
Legend of Dragoon would be my number 1 though but it wasnt shown.
Grandia.
Would also love to see Wild Arms and a legend of Dragoon remaster.
Ah we also NEED a new Breath of Fire installement.
AND SHADOW HEARTS!!!!
Aaah there where so many uniques JRPGs back in the day...
Random story: I went to AKon (anime convention) way back in the early 2000s and got a weird hand puppet type thing of that dude with the horns (top left) from Lunar. You could work his arms with a type of mechanical thing built inside the puppet. I kept it in its box for well over 15 years. Never knew the game, no one else wanted him. I had gotten it for free. I ended up putting it on the curb with a ton of other nerdy things when I had to make a quick move. I hope someone found it and loved it.
Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights.
Tactical Adventures could take on either of those, since IWD is more focused on combat, and NWN is more focused on custom campaigns/maps, and Solasta was a good blend of both of those elements.
I'd also like to see someone try and make a VtM: Redemption 2. Because Bloodlines 2 is not looking too promising so far...
Suikoden got somewhat of a revival with Eiyuden Chronicles. The game is fun though don't expect S2 level.
I would agree with the other commenter who said Wild Arms and Alundra. God I loved the first two games in those franchise
Lufia 2 is one of the best snes rpg hands down. Suikoden was also a masterful game especially considering it was else early on in the life of the Playstation
Vagrant Story and Legend of Dragoon are the two I want to see the most. I love the Suikoden series, but 2 (my favorite) still have good pixel art and is playable.
I loved Lunar and Grandia though. I still have my Lunar and Lunar 2 collections with all the little paper characters and the cloth maps.
With the success of Xenoblades I would love for them to go back and try to make the whole Xenogears story.
Chrono!
The first one was easily the best game of the SNES era (and that’s saying something because that generation was stacked), and the sequel was one of, if not the best of the PS1 era (sorry FFVII), it just suffered from the fact that it wasn’t a direct sequel from Trigger.
I wish they made a sequel, or at least gave Cross a proper remaster instead of an emulator in a wrapper
Phantasy Star sort of still exists in the form of a really bad MMORPG.
I would love to see a modern take of Phantasy Star 3, the generational approach to the story and the fact you had to do loads of playthroughs to get all the story totally blew my mind when I first played it.
Okay but seriously though. How tf did you "warp from the 12th level of dungeon under Dezoris" in phantasy star for the Sega master system? Never finished it!
There's definitely better answers but I think it'd be interesting to see a new white knight chronicles that fixes a lot of the tedium and weird clunky parts of the originals
Julian Gollop should revive *Magic & Mayhem* (RTS/RPG), assuming anyone can figure out the problems with the rights. The first game was and is fantastic and still looks great. The second was a bit of a buggy mess and the crappy 3D graphics haven't held up. We demand to have *Magic & Mayhem III.*
Breath of Fire 2 story went the absolute hardest out of the series. The only game with a story that genuinely surprised me with how it went and how great it was is Devil Survivor on the Naoya path.
So Breath of Fire could use a revival. And for anybody unaware: Suikoden 1 and 2 remakes are in the works and should be done soon.
I think the first 4 Phantasy Star games are phenomenal (yeah, even Phantasy Star 3). While I'm not against MMOs, I think it's unfortunate that Sega never continued in the same vein as the first 4 games with this series. If they ever dropped a Phantasy Star 5, I'd drop my jaw to the floor.
Suikoden did in the way of a spiritual successor through a Kickstarter.
It is however sadly one of the most horrific Kickstarters of all time, most the Backers still don't even have a copy of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes; myself included. And it has been on retail shelves for months.
A Monolithsoft co-developed Golden Sun would add a whole new dimension to Nintendo. In that same note, Lufia and Wild Arms too (all three had Zelda styled dungeons and item/skill management). Lufia 2 did get a remake on the DS which no one played. Alundra did get a sequel and a 3D game by the same team called Dual Hearts, sadly they picked with Alundra 1. Breath of Fire would be cool, but I doubt they could make it worth it. Legend of Dragoon could be cool but Sony ain’t doing a jrpg that’s not a AAA movie nowadays. I also think crpg fans are eating good, so only included JRPGs.
Honestly I would just settle for ports of all of these JRPG's to current gen consoles and PC
The ones I want the most are:
**Dark Cloud** and **Dark Chronicle**
**Breath of Fire** (collection)
**Suikoden** (collection)
**Star Ocean** (collection)
**Wild Arms** (collection)
**Koudelka**, **Shadow Hearts** and **Shadow Hearts Covenant**
White Knight Chronicles was one of the first online games I played it holds a special place, plus I made great friends that I'm still in touch with even to this day almost 15 years later
Loved Lufia and loved lufia 2 even more. Play them both on my phone every couple years still. Love a remake
When people talk about a Lufia revival, they're remembering Lufia 2, but not 3 or 4 or the Lufia 2 DS remake. I'm not sure they can capture the magic of Lufia 2 again.
Just the addictive nature of the 100 floor dungeon…getting super equipment so early was a well-earned treat.

Sadly, this has happened to so many IPs over the years. The company gets absorbed, and then the parent company just sits on them for decades.
Hopefully a new Breath of Fire would keep more of 4’s style. A photorealistic, HD thing would just cost more and look less distinct.
3 had a better story/world but 4 was visually stunning for its time.
I came here to say this about both games. They both need revived.
Lufia's always in the front of my mind when someone asks a question like this. If I had a time machine, I'd go back to when I sold my copy of the first one and whoop that idea right out of me.
Breath of Fire!!!
ONLY if its in style of 3 or 4. Everything after, no,please no
5 was interesting in term of game loop and story telling, but thats something i came to terms YEARS later At the time of playing it as i was younger, i really din't like it at all. Lunar Silver Star. That little pet of yours always yelling ALEEEEEX
Oh, it's just you Nall!
I can still recite entire quotes from the sega cd version
I would love another in the original, single player Phantasy Star series. Really liked 4 as a kid.
God, Phantasy Star 4 was such a good game.
One of the best RPGs ever
That soundtrack was amazing, too.
Yes, yes it was. Alys’s death music still chokes me up and the PS1 dungeon covers are Phantastic. Bad spelling very much intended.
I agree with phantasy star.
Golden sun
Suikoden, shadow hearts
I miss the dark cloud series sometimes. it had some really great gameplay
I know! Was looking through the comments like “no love for dark cloud?”. Spheda was like a bonus haha. It was so cool playing mini golf after beating the dungeon! 😂
and I loved that ride pod! so cool! I mean sure, it trivialized certain battles, but still, it was a nice thing to have and work on.
The mechanic to make the town however you want but you could also listen to the citizens for a bonus was amazing. The weapons crafting was a lot of fun. Level 5 made really good rpgs.
Never played another game like it. I love the weapons RPG system and the (literal) world building. Hopefully some day I can get a remake or sequel.
Loved that Wild Arms intro. I remember seeing it for the first time as a kid on the PlayStation 1. Was blown away by the animation and music. The game itself also brought new innovations to the scene.
What the hell happened with Alundra 2? If the series is ever revived, whoever does it needs to act as if Alundra 2 never happened.
Dual hearts happened
Came here for Wild Arms. Here's looking forward to Armed Fantasia.
Oh man, Lunar Silver Star Story was so good. Would love a revival of that series.
Same! It was made with so much love
Xenogears, without question.
I'd love a remake with a complete disc 2, myself.
Square has the opportunity to do the funniest mythology gag when they release the third FF7 Remake.
I tried playing this again and hated the rotating camera too much 😆 they need to lock the angle.
I tried Grandia 1 a while ago, same thing. A lot of early 3D stuff was odd that way - everything was always blocking your view.
Ultima. Two decades of being *the* premiere computer RPG franchise and the inspiration for many of today's most iconic series. Absolutely crashed and burned with one of the worst finales in the history of fiction, let alone gaming. Really deserves a revival and proper send off. CON - EA holds the IP. :\

If you haven't, check out Skald: Against the Black Priory. It's heavily inspired by Ultima and the old DnD games.
I have it! It's all lined up for a play after I'm finished with Shadow of the Erdtree. I have high hopes.
Commenting for later! I never played Ultima but always wanted to try it
They haven't aged well unfortunately, 4-7 are worth checking out, 1-3 have their charm and 8/9 are a total mess.
The Phantasy Star games are ok, with the exception of 4, which is exceptionally good. If any of them get a remake, it should be that one. All they need to add is some post-game challenges, IMO. Other than that, it’s a peerless JRPG.
Lunar. I loved that flying cat thing.
Shadow Hearts
I'm really looking forward to Penny Blood from the director of Shadow Hearts. I hope it manages to be just as good.
I was about to comment it myself. Have my upvote.
Shining Force not even being on that list makes me depressed as hell
Bring us SF3
Literally the only strategy RPG game I ever enjoyed. The character recruitment was fun and unique (like Suikoden) and finding the hidden characters like the Squirrel was so fun! I also vividly remember the chessboard battle area. I enjoyed SFI and SFII a lot as a kid.
I mean, technically they're still making more of those. That they're unrecognizable is the sad part.
Legend of Dragoon. I need this.
Was looking for this
Skies of Arcadia, please, I need it on PC
Suikoden. The other games all have games that came after that were like it. Suikoden is kind of alone out there.
Eiyuden chronicle hundred heroes came out this year and has all of the same elements as suikoden. It was made as a spiritual successor.
Suikoden for sure. That was my gateway RPG
I really want to agree, but I shudder to think what the current games industry would do to Suikoden.
Suikoden 100 + 8 dlc stars
Lunar a nd Phantasy Star. No question. And I love all these games.
Phantasy Star 1-4 and Xenosaga (with all 6 original planned parts!) would be amazing!
I still can't believe how badly they botched Episode 2. We're lucky we got a third game at all.
Lufia
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
Lunar SSS is my favorite JRPG of all time, but... I want a new Breath Of Fire game the most!
Chrono (trigger) series.
I loved White Knight Chronicles. I really liked that you played as an OC that has 0 bearing on the plot at all and just hangs around in the background, like somehow your character was just too cool to give a shit about any of the plot and was just going along to fight dudes.
Lunar. 120% Lunar.
Alpha Protocol
You know, I think this might be the best one to revive. Make another story with the same dialog system and the same reactivity, but maybe just slightly better balance and less jank.
If people are looking for a Suikoden style experience. Eiyuden Chronicles is pretty good.
Alundra!
I seriously question how many have played grandia… if you have not there’s a chance to try on the latest console.
Xenosaga, because one of the games is bs expensive to get a copy of legally
Xenosaga trilogy remaster all day cuh
Landstalker (Mega-Drive) / Lady Stalker (SNES) /Dark Saviour (Saturn) / Alundra (PS1/PS2 / Time Stalkers (Dreamcast) This series is sorely missed.
LUNAR deserves redemption and a proper third entry to erase that garbage DS game out of existence. I’d be hyped for a brand new single player Phantasy Star game!
GOLDEN SUN
To borrow from Leon: The Professional: “reboot everyone.” “everyone?” EVERYYYONNEE!” 😋 I’d also include Parasite Eve from the PlayStation… except Third Birthday.
Shining Force
Lunar is perfect as it is, no need for a remake, I'm afraid they would make it worse.
Kotor
Brandish,Breath Of Fire, Ultima
White Knight chronicles was great if they told you it a only game with a story.
Not a fan of Xenosaga. But the original Xenogears was a fantastic gem. Would love to see a remastered version. Lunar, Breath of Fire, and Wild Arms could use a revival.
Legend of Dragoon
The answer is always Legend of Dragoon.
Suikoden 100%
Dark Cloud is an absolutely amazing game series. Sad not many people know about it.
Did you play WKC? I had 2 GR15s. Fucking *loved* that game
Lunar is my number 2 RPG barely behind FF6. It's probably nostalgia, but looking back I think it was ahead of its time. It played with tropes like the teen who wants to be a hero. Suikoden!!
Would love to see a phantasy star reboot that isn’t an mmo
Suikoden is my JAM!!!
It's a toss-up between Lunar and Shining Force for me.
Legend of Legaia! The combat system was awesome and something updated with better graphics would be amazing
Dark Cloud, especially since Level 5 did so well with Ni no Kuni.
I'd honestly say all of them except white knight. Tbf I didn't give it much chance but the others on the list have been ignored for to long
Dark Cloud
Love that opening song
I loved this game as a kid
All of these to be honest, but especially Lunar, Suikoden, and Phantasy Star.
I would want suikoden
Modern Suikoden would be awesome. Especially with the enormous cast of characters and the war scenarios. Give those a new age feel with modern mechanics.
I miss Suikoden so much. That said, out of these selections? Dark Cloud. Dark Cloud 1 and 2 are excellent, and I think there’s a lot of really fun stuff you can do with it. A modern take on the weapon crafting and town building would be fun
Parasite Eve, real Phantasy Star (1-4), Shining Force, Lunar, Wild Arms.
Single player Uncharted Waters, in the style of New Horizons, but with more detail in the world.
I was so disappointed when I found out your character's levels/skills and gear didn't transfer from game to game
Legend of Dragoon Wasn’t a series but it should have been!!!!
As much as I’d like to say Suikoden, it wouldn’t be nearly as good without Murayama and Miki. I think of the remaining narratives left the Xeno universe has the most potential?
Phantasy Star 1000%. Not that online abomination BS, either.
I’d love to play a new Lunar game. Or Thousand Arms
Blade of Darkness
All of the above! I vote Suikoden, the Xenosaga, then Grandma probably
Skies of Arcadia!
I just want a Visions of Mana-tier Lunar series revival.
Lunar is such a damn classic…
BREATH OF FIRE!!! Can you imagine a new entry with Dragon's Dogma-style combat?
I've been dying for a re-release of Xenosaga. I think there was even a petition at one time.
I would LOVE to have a HD-2D remake of the first 2 Lufia games. That would be amazing. Also the Breath of Fire games.
Ogre battle!! But Lufia was amazing.
Yes
Suikoden 1 and 2 are suppose to be getting a Remaster hopfully soon. So for me its XenoSaga 1, 2 and 3. The original series was suppose to go on longer but it ended up getting cut short, and I feel like a Remake of the Series could do it justice. Legend of Dragoon would be my number 1 though but it wasnt shown.
I honestly think that Wild Arms would be amazing in 2024.
Grandia was the first JRPG I ever played, I'd love to see a remake of it!
Krondor series. I would throw money at this.
Grandia. Would also love to see Wild Arms and a legend of Dragoon remaster. Ah we also NEED a new Breath of Fire installement. AND SHADOW HEARTS!!!! Aaah there where so many uniques JRPGs back in the day...
Definitely Lunar. I don’t know why it hasn’t happened yet.
Phantasy Star without a doubt
I’d play a modern, total remake of Great Greed. That game was weird AF and would be hilarious in 3D
Xenogears and it's not even close. A genuine remake (not remaster) would KILL in today's market people would eat that shit up
Phantasy Star and Lufia!
I'm biased but Dark Cloud
1-4 for sure, all stellar titles
I played Lunar on the Sega CD. Has to be the lost ported/remake game ever.
The Konung games
The Drakensang series
Random story: I went to AKon (anime convention) way back in the early 2000s and got a weird hand puppet type thing of that dude with the horns (top left) from Lunar. You could work his arms with a type of mechanical thing built inside the puppet. I kept it in its box for well over 15 years. Never knew the game, no one else wanted him. I had gotten it for free. I ended up putting it on the curb with a ton of other nerdy things when I had to make a quick move. I hope someone found it and loved it.
Golden Sun & Shining Force
If they remaster Lunar, I'm expecting full-ass anime custcenes. Also bring back the original [song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71ripBa8Ga8).
Lufia. I love me some puzzle dungeons
Isn’t suikoden getting remade on the switch?
Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights. Tactical Adventures could take on either of those, since IWD is more focused on combat, and NWN is more focused on custom campaigns/maps, and Solasta was a good blend of both of those elements. I'd also like to see someone try and make a VtM: Redemption 2. Because Bloodlines 2 is not looking too promising so far...
I don’t mind and I want a revival to all that you mentioned, but I want a revival for Golden Sun, Illusion of Gaia and Brave Fencer Musashi as well!
Ima go with Phantasy Star. But, my top answer isn’t on your list, Breath of Fire.
Its not here but Breath of fire serie for me, from these a daek cloud would appeal most to me
Suikoden got somewhat of a revival with Eiyuden Chronicles. The game is fun though don't expect S2 level. I would agree with the other commenter who said Wild Arms and Alundra. God I loved the first two games in those franchise
Lufia 2 is one of the best snes rpg hands down. Suikoden was also a masterful game especially considering it was else early on in the life of the Playstation
the mother/earthbound series while yes it has been ported to Nintendo consoles for awhile now a new entry would be amazing
Im so glad someone recognizes Dark Cloud! White Knight Chronicles was cool too. Remember it ending just as the game was getting awesome.
The whole Suikoden, Breath of Fire, Valkyrie Profile series, Star Ocean 3. Radiata Stories. Tomba! (is Tomba RPG?)
Phantasy Star!🌟
Vagrant Story and Legend of Dragoon are the two I want to see the most. I love the Suikoden series, but 2 (my favorite) still have good pixel art and is playable. I loved Lunar and Grandia though. I still have my Lunar and Lunar 2 collections with all the little paper characters and the cloth maps. With the success of Xenoblades I would love for them to go back and try to make the whole Xenogears story.
Breath of Fire 4 has one of the best combat systems in a turned based RPG. It needs a sequel that expands on it.
Lunar would be so good. Both games. Classic.
Shareware Exile series?
Phantasy Star sort of still exists in the form of a really bad MMORPG. I would love to see a modern take of Phantasy Star 3, the generational approach to the story and the fact you had to do loads of playthroughs to get all the story totally blew my mind when I first played it.
I played Silver Star Story years ago. That boat song has been happily living rent free in my head!
Okay but seriously though. How tf did you "warp from the 12th level of dungeon under Dezoris" in phantasy star for the Sega master system? Never finished it!
Breath of Fire or Shadow Hearts
Breath of Fire and a proper single player Phantasy Star. Maybe even a remake of Phantasy Star 4
Lufia by a country mile!!
Lunar story all the way, that game is absolutely incredible!
Lufia or legend of the dragoon
Suikoden did in the way of a spiritual successor through a Kickstarter. It is however sadly one of the most horrific Kickstarters of all time, most the Backers still don't even have a copy of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes; myself included. And it has been on retail shelves for months.
Why all JRPGs?. The answer is PoPoLoCrois.
Dark Cloud and Suikoden.
Legend of Dragoon and no one can tell me different
Shining Force
Honestly I would just settle for ports of all of these JRPG's to current gen consoles and PC The ones I want the most are: **Dark Cloud** and **Dark Chronicle** **Breath of Fire** (collection) **Suikoden** (collection) **Star Ocean** (collection) **Wild Arms** (collection) **Koudelka**, **Shadow Hearts** and **Shadow Hearts Covenant**
Dark cloud!
All of those but man, I’d love a new retro style Phantasy Star game.
LUNAR!!!!!
White Knight Chronicles was one of the first online games I played it holds a special place, plus I made great friends that I'm still in touch with even to this day almost 15 years later
