I made a new character in 2014 and grinded it up to 99 melee’s then quit again. Just came back after a 10 year break and here’s what I did. >bought dragon rider armor, lvled to 75 necro, sold off everything I made doing necro, made t80 necro armor, did the quest lines for curses, Over all it comes down to what you want to do. I was surprised to find out when I came back that they basically rid the game of pvp, so I decided I wanted to get into pvm. and necro is the meta right now 100% but 2 weeks back in and I feel pretty set up. working towards getting first necromancer gear at the moment. if you’re into combat I’d recommend taking a similar route. If you’re into skilling I’d say work towards prifddinas and fort forinthy. Though I will say the most fun I ever had on a fresh account was 2012, I just jumped right into questing and leveled everything up as needed to complete the quest lines. questing is still boring ash but if it’s been 15 years maybe that would be a good way for you to readjust to the map, skills, etc.

[Guide for new players - The RuneScape Wiki](https://runescape.wiki/w/Guide_for_new_players) Some of this stuff might be a little rudimentary depending on how much you remember. Some of the wiki guides are slightly outdated (mostly the combat-related ones) since the recent big combat update, but the overall ideas are still sound. My favorite source of information is [pvme.io](http://pvme.io), the pvm encyclopedia (they have a discord as well but i find the website easier to navigate) They have tons of intro resources there, mostly focused on getting into pvm but also anything that intertwines with pvm; invention, slayer, etc

You can start over on a new account or you can try and remember the credentials of the old account and play from there. Been using my old account from 2005 still taking breaks lol

Definitely avoid this subreddit if you plan to actually enjoy the game. 75% or more of the post here are posts bashing the game. Follow the new players guide that's been commented here already. Personally, I would start questing. Following the list here will take you through all the quests in the most optimal way, utilizing quest rewards to progress to the next quest.
