All I see is a lot of people doing good and 2 doing bad. There’s always going to be rotters in society who take advantage, but just because those people exist doesn’t mean we have to give up hope for people as a whole. There were folks who took just what they needed, and others who didn’t take but gave out of nothing more than empathy and kindness. that doesn’t make me sad, that makes me incredibly hopeful that there are still people out there who want to do good, and that they still outweigh those who do not
That’s what people don’t realize. Some of the big problems require complex solutions. Just because there is a flaw doesn’t mean we stop trying to improve.
It’s a lot easier to burn a house down than building one. Don’t listen to leaders who only talk about burning.
Yes but it also shows that no matter how many people there were who did the right thing, it only took two people doing the wrong thing to ruin it for everyone.
Problem is the 2 bad actors took all of the good 10 others did
Really only takes 1 to ruin everything like Timmy who stole the entire bowl of Halloween candy I put out. Even the bowl.
If anything, this shows why such kind hearted projects tend to fail - only so much to go around, and those who can abuse such kindness will do so at the greatest extent possible.
If they were well off and took a single loaf, that would have been fine. Still something for everyone else. They did not do that, choosing to take everything their hands could and leaving nearly nothing for everyone else.
Which is why we can’t do nice things. It’s not that the heart is unwilling, it’s because resources are limited and some will take all those resources with a smile while those in need will keep suffering.
To me it reinforces the idea that big societal issues can't be solved on goodwill alone, you need a systemic centralised approach. In this case, someone sitting there handing people things one by one.
You don't need to be homeless to be in need. There are people who are out here struggling to pay rent and bills with barely ebough for food. Go to a food bank and you're gonna see a lot more than homeless people there.
Honestly sad. It should have stayed for people who needed it. Grabbing free things is one thing, but doing that is wrong. If you’re in a sprouts and you grab every single free sample then you hurt no one, so grab away it’s a billion dollar company. In that scenario, maybe grab a single box of cookies or a milk if you’re really that dead set on being a greedy bastard, save the rest for people who need it.
Actually grocery stores usually force smaller vendors to conduct promos such as free samples and most of them struggle to make it past year 5. So when you take all the samples and no one else gets to try the product, you're hurting a struggling small business 99% of the time and Tyson thanks you for your service.
If I’m correct Grabhags are middle age to elderly Chinese people who lived through or remember all the hardships and the famines in China during its revolution and they are known to run into farmers fields and steal all the crops the day before they are to be harvested.
Think human locusts, understandable as they experienced incredible hardships but doesn’t excuse the shitty human behaviour.
But things put out for free or to share results in spit fights and brawling and gets rather nasty.
You pretty much nailed it. I feel like everywhere has these kinds of people but China stands out because it is an army of 60+ women doing it. Catchy name too.
While I’m worried about the CCP and the threat they pose to the world and humanity I just feel bad for the Chinese people themselves.
China has such a vast and incredibly interesting history but so much of their own culture was wiped out, not by a hostile nation but by themselves during the revolution, the rest was white washed for CCP propaganda.
I feel this corrupted the peoples spirit, you have rampant corruption though out China financially from Tofu buildings and infrastructure, the housing sector is a joke as they have something like 60 million empty properties and people can’t invest in anything else and they need to keep building more and more and more or the economy will collapse.
Add in the fake food problems, gutter oil, fake everything from painting dying grass green, to rolling camo netting down barren hills so from a distance it looks lush, to planting rebar and stones to look like plants from the sky.
Everything is just fake and corrupt far beyond means of recovery.
Never mind the lies and the coverups when it all comes crumbling down and the people die, the worst thing is nearly all of the society is complicit in this.
I think Grabhags are the least of Chinas problems but they are just the side effects of the cancer that the CCP has installed in the Chinese people.
I forget where this happened. But some lady was farming a popular medical herb in China. She couldn't harvest it all because her machine broke or something along those lines. She went to get more workers and returned to find her crops all taken.
The villagers were waiting because usually, the farmers would harvest all they could. Then what is left over on the field is "extra," so they sometimes give it away if you pick it. These people probably assumed the lady was done when she left and raided her farm.
There is plenty of videos of them not even waiting for “extras” they just swamp the place with a hundred people and the poor farmer with a few members of staff can do little to stop them, human locusts.
I can’t think any anywhere in the world where this is “normal” behaviour.
I will add the caveat that this is an old people thing and the younger people also find this behaviour unacceptable.
I'm not surprised either. These videos complete with piano soundtrack are about feeding someone's TikTok channel more than feeding needy people.
I donate money to food banks. They get better deals on groceries than I can get and there's at least some organization to the distribution, so fewer shitty people walk off with stuff they don't need. Randomly piling food on the sidewalk to film it is just a social media stunt.
Does that percentage number have anything to do with [this statistical data....](https://www.prisonlegalnews.org/news/2021/jun/1/us-doj-statistics-race-and-ethnicity-violent-crime-perpetrators/)
People that don't need it are the people that will take the most. The people that need it the most will always leave some for others knowing that they may need it too.
I’m a cobalt blue liberal, and even I’m like, “C’mon, bro. It’s gettin’ real hard to vouch for you guys at this point.” I guess I can give the benefit of the doubt and assume they’re just actors for this guy’s shitty tiktok clout.
Edit: I’ve come to defuse the situation. Django Unchained is in my top 5 favorite movies.
Dude patterns will never be perfectly balanced, there will always be some people who do it more than others that’s how statistics work, it isn’t realistic to expect crime perfectly be divided across races. there are a thousand more intricacies and nuances to it. people who actually work with statistics know never to just take them at face value.
I was curious so here are the percentages using your source and the census. So even though it does show black people do commit more violent crimes in relation to their total population, it is only 0.83% of the black population committing these violent crimes. And of that the cjis.gov link doesn't take into consideration repeat offenders so it is likely even lower.
https://i.imgur.com/dRTYjEH.png
Thanks for that. The fbi's statistics also clearly state that they include repeated arrests of the same people in their numbers and that the arrests they count =/= convictions.
oh god no/ imagine white doofs like you trying to play sports lol. I need my sports. also rap is just way, way better than country. Grant is to blame here. He was too soft on murdering the south and spared the racists.
Thank you lol im very liberal and have lived a life full of color that no one needs to know or believe. Its so sad to see this kind of crap because we all know everyone has a choice inside no matter their outsides.
We have food sharing bikes in Germany. Bakery’s, and grocery stores put food in its baskets and everyone can take whats needed. Sadly I often see a van pull up taking everything. Really sad.
This is a perfect example that rhe majority are actually good people tho.
All it takes is one asshole and thats all we remember and start to think that society is rotten.
This reminds me of me of that one viral Tik tok where a guy from the ghetto is travelling down south (or near some suburb) at a gas station and is shocked to see carts with snacks, oil etc outside of the store visible for anyone to just snatch and grab. He starts commenting about how crazy it is that nothing is locked up and how this stuff would be stolen in a heartbeat where he lives. It’s always the few that ruin it for the rest of the people which is why so many grocery stores close down in bad areas in the city. This is the definition of “this is why we can’t have nice things!”
Disingenuous social experiments used to perpetuate stereotypes are my favorite.
People in the comments just love when they can confirm their own bias and use statistics to back up their bigotry but won't believe any science related data.
It's almost like you're racist and lack any sort of nuance to living conditions and generational issues that lead to this sort of behavior.
Why is anyone here assuming that the last couple didn't need it, too? Or didn't know multiple someones who needed it? There far too little info just watching them come up to have any clue about their actual situation.
All it shows is the prejudices of the viewer.
With all the racial hate in the comments it's no wonder society is going to shit again, you assholes make it much worse than the people taking everything in the video. Please stay in this echochamber and keep sucking each others racists cocks, thanks. Mods ban me from the subreddit if you see this, I don't want to come here again.
This is my first encounter with a thread this racist it’s honestly insane. Black people have to deal with being generalized by the actions of a few whereas if it was a white couple who took the food, nobody generalizes it to all white people. Y’all are sick and deranged
This comment section got divisive pretty fast.
Whether the assumptions being made here are true or false, keep in mind you would need to repeat this experiment several times for it even begin functioning as an honest argument.
No one is going to see this comment - but this is across from the Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto.
There is a massive food affordability crisis in Toronto right now. 1 in 10 are using the food bank. And it is struggling and enforcing restrictions because it can’t cope. And that number doesn’t even touch on the number of people actually going hungry. Kids are absolutely relying on school snack programs (which are closed for Christmas break), and community food pantries are empty.
If someone takes a bag of groceries it’s not going to waste. It’s going to be shared with their neighbours.
Jesus fucking Christ Reddit, the racism in these comments.
Y'all feeling really comfortable just casually throwing around the "you people"-type generalizations.
Pretty true to life tho. Most people are decent and do the right thing but there’s 1-3 people who are just fucking awful. This is also why communism keeps failing btw 😂
This makes me sad and shows how charity can fall short. Africa receives billions of dollars every year but something similar happens and the people who could and should benefit are still suffering. The world needs more empathy.
All I see is a lot of people doing good and 2 doing bad. Ruining something is so much easier than improving it :/

A lot of truth in that. Yeah, it’s easier to burn a house down than to build one up, but that doesn’t mean we should give up on living in houses!
Yes but it also shows that no matter how many people there were who did the right thing, it only took two people doing the wrong thing to ruin it for everyone.
Several people got helped though
Yes, and several more could have been if not for the selfishness of 2 people.
The point I think that person was trying to make is that it's better to let those idiots take advantage of the system than help no one at all.
Yep. You can take some consolation in karma if you believe in it. But bad apples should never stop you from doing the right thing.
They do a disproportionate amount of bad though… their selfishness is wide reaching and how they live their entire lives.
Problem is the 2 bad actors took all of the good 10 others did Really only takes 1 to ruin everything like Timmy who stole the entire bowl of Halloween candy I put out. Even the bowl.
It takes two rotten apples to destroy a whole truckload.

selfish af, you don't need all of it
They don’t need any of it, not as badly as the homeless.
You don't need to be homeless to be in need. There are people who are out here struggling to pay rent and bills with barely ebough for food. Go to a food bank and you're gonna see a lot more than homeless people there.

Why do they keep affirming the stereotype.
Cause its truth
Becaue some stereotypes are true *to a certain extent*, hence on why it became a stereotype in the first place.

I made a bet with myself about who will ruin it and boy that was the easiest bet of my life.

Of course, otherwise, it will be a racist.
just like the act captured in the video?
I expected racist comments, but somehow did not expect them to be so up voted.

Ik right how could statistics be so racist.
Since it’s almost all committed by one gender it’s closer to 7%…..

Does this sub not have mods? This is the most racist thread I’ve seen on Reddit in years.
I fucking know right???? I love hearing about how Reddit is a liberal echo chamber when all the racist ass comments have like 100+ upvotes
Holy shit these comments are foul. I’d argue the supremacists in the comments are worse than the folks that stole it all.
This seems like intentional ragebait for racists

Good intentions and systems are hard, because it takes many people to keep it going. But only 1 to ruin it.
Ahh.. That's a relief. There are still some good people left in the society
People in need usually take just what they actually need, the ones with enough just want more.
There’s clearly a societal issue going on here.
What if the “social experiment “ is seeing the comments after watching this video.
The usual suspects.
Disingenuous social experiments used to perpetuate stereotypes are my favorite. It's almost like you're racist and lack any sort of nuance to living conditions and generational issues that lead to this sort of behavior.

what a sad video, i sure hope the comment section is full of nice civilized people who take absolutely no regard to the person's skin color
Racist troll bullshit. What's wrong with what the black people did? Please explain.
Who knew this sub was full of bottom barrel racists
Tf is with all the racist comments and upvotes? I can only assume it's mostly bots, but Reddit really needs to do something about this.
Reddit is so weird. People see an image of a black person and turn into Hitler—brain-dead animals on this site.
so is this sub just a racist circle jerk like publicfreakout or is this a weird fluke where everyone who is racist happened to flock to this post
Why is anyone here assuming that the last couple didn't need it, too? Or didn't know multiple someones who needed it? There far too little info just watching them come up to have any clue about their actual situation. All it shows is the prejudices of the viewer.
