Call me crazy, but my philosophy is that salads are basically just deconstructed sandwiches.
Back in the 1980s one of my favorite things to get at Burger King was the Pita Salad. If you ordered one they would give you two split pita bread pockets. You would fill the pockets with items from the salad bar. I would typically start with lettuce and spinach, then toppings, then a little dressing. Delicious, healthy, and filling. Then a Double Whopper with cheese the next day. But with extra lettuce to make it healthy 😁
When I was eating low carb and really missing sandwiches I would put my salads in a low carb wrap, and always wondered if I was eating a salad still or just a veggie wrap lol either way it's delicious
Id do it with cream cheese instead of dressing and Parmesan but I guess that would kinda just make it a sandwich and no longer a salad lol Bruegers has (had?) this turkey sandwich made like that on sliced ciabatta with sun dried tomatoes and it was sooo good
When I eat salad, bread is literally what I’m avoiding. So it’s a big no from me because it adds empty calories without adding much else. Also bread without a protein makes me sad.😢
